@queensbee, they turned out great! She's such a little ham.
E's 15 month appt is today, too! I'm excited to see how big and tall she is! I think she's only about 21 pounds (at least, at home) but no idea how tall she is. Dh is going to this appt without me.

@QueensBee: She didn't bite at school Tues-Thurs. Teacher said that she didn't even see her try. This weekend, she just pointed at the other LO when they had her toys. Didn't even get close to biting. So maybe it was just teething?
Sounds like P is doing great!!

@blackbird: Oooh, hope the appointment goes well! You'll have to tell us her stats after!
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
Alright we're good over here! 75% for height, 50% for weight, 70% head (giant brainz? lol)...doc said she is great, with an "athletic build". Shocker. Hopefully she took her shots well, too!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@blackbird: ok that makes me think r was measured wrong. Cause E looks taller then R but we measured her on our wall chart and it was right but E has to be taller.

@Adira: Thanks! Yes, the doctor said that she's seen so many kids have their language explosions at between 15-18 months, or even until 2yo, that she's not very concerned at this point. Mainly, she wanted to know that he communicates well, has good receptive language, and points to things he wants me to see. I felt a lot better after the appointment, but I still want to hear mama for real!
How did Xander's eating go today?
@Smurfette: That's awesome! Hopefully the worst is behind you! Our neighbor is the *sweetest* little girl, and her mom told me today that they had a biting issue a few months ago. It can happen to anyone!
@blackbird: Love that she had a great appointment today too! Future athlete, indeed! It's funny because Pete is measuring only 1/4 inch shorter but was in the 44th% for height. That 1/4 inch makes a big difference! Hope she does okay with shots and doesn't have any reactions!
So Pete has started growling when he's unhappy, like a wild animal. He does this when he gets frustrated because he can't do something (like when his little cozy coupe car gets stuck on a bump), or when a friend tries to take his toy away. The doc said it's totally normal, and all my friends laugh when he does it (because it is a little hilarious), but I feel like he gives off the impression that he's being raised by wolves!
And in other news, we've had no poop incidents since my last post so I'm pretty pumped about that!

Today must have been the day for 15 month check ups! Carter had his this afternoon and is still a little peanut at 18 lbs 8 oz and 29 1/2 inches long. He's also officially walking now! It is so much fun to see him toddling around everywhere like he's been doing it forever. I love it! We went to the playground today for the first time since he started walking and he seemed like such a big kid.
He's also working on all 4 canines. I think the top 2 have broken through and I can see white spots under his gums on the bottom. I am SO ready for teething to be over. After these 4 come in all he'll have left are his 2 year molars. We need a serious break from the teething and all the drool!
@QueensBee: Carter does the growling thing too, but it's only when I ask him if he wants a snack. Goofy kid.

@blackbird: Our girls are about the same size! Sadie had really similar stats at her 15m appointment.
I'm still having a rough time with getting Sadie to eat. She has like 5 things that she will eat and that's it! I keep offering, but it is not happening. I realize she's still little and we have time to work on it, but it seriously stresses me out. She shouldn't be living off of pb&j and goldfish! Any advice or commiseration?

@photojane: R does better at school. But still is picky with things at home. She will like it one day and the next no go. Have you tried dips and stuff to see if she will eat it that way?
cantaloupe / 6164 posts
@Smurfette: She loves to dip things, but won't eat them. She'll dip a chip in salsa and then throw it, then dip another one. She just thinks dipping is fun.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@photojane: I know it has to be frustrating. It helps me knowing at gets one meal and snack that is different but at home same three meats with pasta/Mac n cheese. Spaghetti is a no go these days.
cantaloupe / 6164 posts
@Smurfette: It is so frustrating. It's so great that R will eat good at school. I think part of our problem is that Sadie knows I'll give her something else if she doesn't eat what's on her plate. Sadie won't eat ANY meat. No spaghetti here either! Or any other pasta.

Knock on wood but last night we had an excellent sleep. That is twice in one week. I think we wore him out at the park yesterday afternoon though, so we'll see how tonight goes.
@Smurfette: Sorry for the rough night. It is nice that DH took over for the night. Hopefully she sleeps good again tonight.
@Pumuckl: That is so cute that he pats you when he's done cuddling.
@Adira: We just mostly give him what we eat which makes it pretty easy but it is a little trickier for you with allergies. Did he eat finger food again tonight?
@QueensBee: Good stats! Glad to hear that they only expect three words at this age. What potty training book did you get?
@blackbird: Glad the appointment went well, those are good stats.
@Smurfette: Good to hear she made it through the week without biting.
@jodyblair: Yay for walking!! It is amazing how fast they get good at walking. Sounds like you have a healthy little peanut.
@photojane: That must be so frustrating. I hope she starts eating more things soon.

@Smurfette: No!! She doesn't like anything "normal" kids like. No pizza, no mac'n'cheese, no chicken nuggets! What is wrong with her?!
hostess / papaya / 10219 posts
@photojane: I feel like L keeps narrowing down his list of acceptable foods too. The only meat he likes right now is hot dogs. Greaaaaat..... He's given up nuggets pretty much too. But he will eat his weight in pasta. Seriously. And he will eat pretty much any fruit.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@photojane: @travellingbee: R won't eat pizza. Nuggets, Mac n cheese and fruit are the only for sure food she will eat.
@ALV91711: hope last night was good too!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@QueensBee: @ALV91711: His eating was good! He ate his normal purees and yogurt at daycare, but for dinner, I gave him sausage, mixed veggies, yogurt, and a pouch! He scarfed down the sausage, ate some of the carrots out of the mixed veggies, spoon-fed himself the yogurt, and devoured the pouch!! We're totally making progress!!!
@QueensBee: OMG, the growling sounds way too funny!!!! I kind of wish Xander did that! It sounds wicked cute!!
@jodyblair: Oh my gosh, Carter sounds so adorable being so petite! And easier to lug around, haha. Awesome about the walking!!! And holy crap - he's working on canines???? Xander doesn't even have all his incisors in!!! Crazy!!!
@photojane: I have no advice with food. Xander seems only into carrots, sausage, and crackers now! Although, at least he likes ONE veggie... guess I should be thankful for that. I think this age is the age they get picky so... it's normal? But it sucks how hard it is to feed them! Oh, and Xander won't eat pasta either, so I totally hear you there! And he doesn't like chicken nuggets! What's wrong with our kids that they don't like chicken nuggets??? Have you tried sausage with Sadie? That's the one meat Xander likes!
@ALV91711: YAY for sleep!!!! I hope it keeps up for you!!
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
My kid won't eat chicken nuggets, either! I tried them maybe twice and she picks the breading off, so she's not having them ever again, LOL. I had to stop giving PB&J's for emergency food because she would just pick the jelly off and eat that. Most of the time, we eat healthy, but sometimes, dammit, I want to be able to throw something super quick and easy on her plate! I actually started buying little containers of pre-made food from the deli section at the grocery store, like fettucini chicken broccoli alfredo. It gets us like four meals for her if i couple it with fruit and other stuff from the fridge. But like, my kid isn't gonna eat a deli sandwich for lunch on a Saturday like DH and I do sometimes. So that's been helpful for us. Plus it's a good way to try/introduce new foods to her without it being a huge waste. And it's things like lasagna--things that I don't make at home b/c they're too high calorie for me to eat, but she still needs the calories, so i want her to have them.
Dh was asking the ped last night about food and I got the impression that babies are just super fickle and all over the place, lol. Such stinkers. She said they can hone in on one food for a few days, then want nothing to do with it. It's so bizarre how they are!
pear / 1718 posts
@jodyblair: Awe, love this hit peanut size! And so awesome that he's walking all around now! Happy to know my kid isn't the only growler around, lol! Good luck with the canines. He will have a full mouth pretty soon!
@photojane: Sorry you are fighting the food battle right now! I mean, who doesn't like pizza and mac n' cheese? Mmmmm!
What are the five things that she does like? PB&J, goldfish....? Maybe we can try to find ways to sneak other foods into those ones???
@blackbird: Our ped told me the same things yesterday... "try not to worry even if it seems like they are only eating crap." It's hard!
@Adira: Wow, that's a pretty big dinner of solids! Great news!

@blackbird: try dr. Praegers broccoli pancakes- frozen section. Big hit. She also usually likes frozen veggie burgers. Or frozen ravioli. Those are our easy foods...
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@silva, I make broccoli bites (same idea?) and freeze in batch and they are AWESOME. Until I eat them all, haha. But I'm actually out now and have to make more....sigh. I've offered ravioli a bunch of times; she isn't into it. I need to try the dr praeger things, though....it would be nice to just HAVE something on hand. It seems like kids do well with "patty" textures of anything.

I can't believe all the babies that don't like chicken nuggets.
So far we are lucky and Isaac will eat pretty much anything. Some days he prefers one thing over another but there isn't anything that he refuses.

Hey ladies! I'm somehow behind on this thread again (and will catch up!!)... but I just wanted to share this article with ya'll. It's about the 1st year of parenthood... and while I know we're all past that stage now, I still really liked what it had to say - http://www.huffingtonpost.com/karyn-thurston/10-true-things-about-the-first-year-of-parenthood_b_4254464.html
My favorite is point #10:
Success is found in being willing to grow. Here's the truth: you don't know much of anything. A year from now, after your fantastic kid turns 1, you won't know much of anything still. Gather wisdom around you. Learn from your mistakes. Stay humble. Stay open. When you know better, do better. Be a better parent tomorrow than you were today, always, everyday, as often as you can. Try things out and leave them behind shamelessly if they don't work out. Life isn't a contest or a game -- it's simply only beautifully life. Live the minutes instead of scoring them. Love that incredible baby.

@Pumuckl: I'm sorry you still don't know what's causing the elevated markers. I hope you get some clarity around it all soon! you are one strong mama. Congrats on him taking some unassisted steps - it's so much fun when they start walking! J is a big big cuddler too! I recently started calling him "my cuddle jare" (a play on the word bear since his name is jaren). Hehe.
@Corduroy: Congrats on nursing for so long! So so sweet that you got to experience your last nursing session with your husband. What a wonderful memory to have.
@QueensBee: I loved the quote you posted earlier... so so true.
@travellingbee: Yea, J has been picky with food for months now. He's still a big eater, but only with foods he likes. He won't touch his vegetables (or he will chew them and spit them out) and hates eggs. Anything he doesn't like he'll toss on the floor. He does like kale green smoothies though - so at least I'm getting his veggies in somehow. And he loves fruit - loves loves all berries, apples, grapes, and bananas.
@ALV91711: Oh no about the plug covers! We have the covers that you actually screw in and they slide to the side. Like this - http://www.amazon.com/Mommys-Helper-Electrical-Outlet-Standard/dp/B00081J3OU/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1404878187&sr=8-13&keywords=plug+covers
@blackbird: @QueensBee: @jodyblair: Happy belated 15 months! Wow, I think we need to do a birthday recap because J is going on 17 months this month!
@photojane: My daughter would not eat any protein for over a year and it worried me because she was pretty much only willing to eat carbs, then a switch turned out once she neared 3 and now she always wants to try what I try... so there is hope! Kids are just fickle like Blackbird said... I'm convinced it's a phase and a normal part of development. They have more sensitive tastebuds than adults too. Don't lose hope!

Okay, I need advice on this whole finger food thing because I'm a total newb. Xander is sooooo picky and he won't eat half (okay, most) of what I give him. Do you think it's okay that he's eating sausage, some crackers and yogurt, and a bunch of pouches?? He doesn't seem to want to be spoonfed anymore, so a pouch is my only guarantee that he'll actually get some veggies and fruit in. That's okay, right??
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Mrs. High Heels: loved that article
@Adira: I would keep giving him new stuff, even if he won't eat it and you reheat the same meal all week, but still try new things. I throw away veggies every night that R won't touch but I am hoping one day she will eat them. Pouches are the only way I can get her to eat veggies at home. She will eat fruit. Have you tried diced fruit cups?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: I do keep giving him stuff, he just won't eat it, so then I give him a pouch when he's done and has thrown all the veggies onto the floor! And I have tried fruit - he actually did eat some watermelon last night, but not very much!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: R loves the fruit cups in the canned fruit section way more then fresh stuff. We buy the store brand that is packed in water. She eats the pears, peaches, and mandarin oranges.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Oooh, okay, I'll try that! The daycare teacher did say that Xander actually ate some mandarin oranges the other day, so maybe he'd like that!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: some meals she will eat two cups with whatever else she is eating. I send some to day care too for when she doesn't like the snack that day. Like honeydew is once a week and she won't eat it.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Okay, thanks for the tip! I'll definitely have to buy some and try it!! Does she eat them right out of the cup or do you usually spoon out the fruit first?
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: This morning she ate out of the cup after I fed her yogurt. (I was lazy and didn't want to clean up a mess when she feeds herself) but at night or lunches we put on the plate and she feeds herself (spoon, fork, or hands).
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: OMG, I tried to teach Xander how to use a fork and he ended up just spooning pieces of food on it and then waving his fork around to fling it everywhere!!!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: R does better with a fork then a spoon. But still uses her hands for 50% of the meal. All depends on what the item is too.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Xander's good with a spoon when it's something like yogurt, but if it's actual food, he just flings it everywhere! And he hasn't figured out stabbing things with a fork yet!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: He will get it. Does day care work on it as well?
