@psw27: I had 6 in about half an hour but nothing for another half hour. Is this normal? I was induced was DS so it was totally different.
pomelo / 5220 posts
@bubblegum: "normal" is relative - but if they die down, its probably nothing/just practice. I had a ton on Thursday for hours and hours and then they went away. I have contractions often, but never any that are so painful I fell to the floor!

@psw27: when they were happening they were all very intense! I asked my one girlfriend and she said hers were the same way and then like two or theee hours later it started again and closer together. Yeah it was horrible! Just let with my son

@bubblegum: EEkk! Good luck! I have not gone into labor, so I don't know what's "normal" or not.....but it definitely sounds like the real thing!

@bubblegum: Wow, sounds intense. Agreed that if they go away its not "the real thing" just yet, but could be a sign its on its way. Would you want to go into labor early or would you rather stick with your scheduled date?
pear / 1717 posts
@ValentineMommy: thank you! I'm home today so I'll keep everyone posted! @psw27: super exciting!! I would be shocked if I'm able to go in on my own
pear / 1717 posts
@JennyPenny: that would be wild!! Ehh idk honestly I'm ready to no longer be pregnant and it would be awesome to have her here really. Considering I've never gone into labor on my own but it's also like holy crap what about work and all that?!
pomelo / 5220 posts
@bubblegum: Work figures it out! Don't even worry - trust me, I just didn't come back after a weekend once before!
My son has been a stage 5 clinger all the sudden, I wonder if toddlers have a sense about this stuff? Maybe he knows his brother is coming soon?
pear / 1717 posts
@psw27: I'm training someone to cover my position and only was able to train her one day they would freak if I went out earlier!
I totally think toddlers can sense it!!!
pomelo / 5791 posts
@psw27: I definitely think toddlers can sense it. Mine has been extra clingy as well!

Wow! Things seem to really be moving for some of you! Exciting times in the month of April! Can't wait for all of our spring chicks soon!

@bubblegum: So exciting that something is happening. I feel all kinds of aches and pains but not contractions yet.
I am struggling with a couple of things right now. I scheduled a c-section for my due date, considering my history and my GD, I didn't want to go too long and let baby get too big but now I'm thinking I'm setting myself up to not have a chance to VBAC. I'm thinking about pushing it back but not really sure what to do.
Also, I had one awful nurse during my first birth experience and the rest were absolute angels. I hate to mess with anyone's work situation but I kind of want to refuse this nurse this time if I can even do that. She couldn't put the catheter in and caused me a lot of pain trying, she measured me at 9 centimeters and told me it was almost time to push when I was actually 6 and ended up with a c section. She also wouldn't look at or speak directly to my husband which made him feel awkward and was just very strange, we could live with this but the medical stuff really caused stress.

@bubblegum: Eek! They would have to figure it out! When I had my son it was so random I literally left things completely open and half done at work - literally files with handwritten notes to be typed up, files on my desk, etc. but they worked it out. How are you feeling now?
@MOMTOLITTLEB: Yikes about the nurse. Are you certain she is still working there? I think that the right nurses are key to having a good birth experience. (although I don't even know how I would find out who is working at my hospital!) Have you asked if you can just request someone else when you get there? I don't know how these things work.

Baby is still breech Womp. Looks like the crazy positions I finagled myself into did nothing this weekend. ECV is scheduled first thing Wed morning, so hopefully I'll have good news after that. Doctor said I have a lot of fluid so that's a good thing. Otherwise C-section scheduled for 39 weeks

@bubblegum: I got so excited for you! Keep us posted!
@MOMTOLITTLEB: after dealing with a midwife I did not enjoy (and a chance to get her during labor) I spoke with a patient liaison and they informed me that I am a consumer and you have every right to refuse having someone there-including nurses. If you are stressed and/or uncomfortable speak up! Or have your husband speak up to the nurses station!
@JennyPenny: I am so sorry! Fingers crossed for a lay minute flip.
I had my 40 week checkup and she opted to do a sweep. I'm cramping but nothing big. I had no dialation but my cervix was very soft so she's hoping the sweep just put him over the edge.
pomelo / 5220 posts
@JennyPenny: sorry to hear that. Is the EVC done at the hospital? Fingers crossed he flips back!!
@mrsmacSLP: Hope the sweep helps move things along!
nectarine / 2460 posts
@psw27: Yep, it'll be done at the hospital. I asked if they could induce right away if it was successful and was told "no" so I'm probably going to keep worrying that he'll flip back...
pomelo / 5220 posts
@JennyPenny: I would have the exact same worry, especially since ECV isn't exactly comfortable sounding. Maybe it'll cause you to go into labor naturally!
pear / 1717 posts
@MOMTOLITTLEB: yes!! Hoping it continues but nothing since.
REFUSE HER! I had an asshole nurse like that and if she got anywhere near me this time I would give her the boot!
pear / 1717 posts
@psw27: you're right!! Nothing since. I'm kinda disappointed about it. I was hopeful this was it but nothing
pear / 1717 posts
@mrsmacSLP: thanks love! Nothing since this morning. I would loveee it to continue though. I have a doctors appt tomorrow so I'm going to let them know
nectarine / 2460 posts
@psw27: You can bet I'll be doing all the natural induction techniques I can find to get him out
pomelo / 5220 posts
@bubblegum: aw I would be disappointed to! Although I'm not really sure at what point I'm going to be like OK lets get him out of here -- I've been so worried about staying pregnant I haven't really thought about not wanting to be pregnant hahaha If I go much past 37 weeks I'm sure I'll be ready!
pear / 1717 posts
@psw27: yes and you're almost there too!! I'll be 38 weeks Wednesday so I'm like let's go!!!
pomelo / 5220 posts
@bubblegum: so crazy! I am really surprised I'm still pregnant... but we'll see what happens! I didn't even make appointments beyond 37 weeks LOL
pear / 1717 posts
@psw27: do you want to make it past 37?! Maybe the baby will surprise you
pomelo / 5220 posts
@bubblegum: yeah! I'd like to get as far as I can, I just never really anticipated it!

I am 38 weeks today which is the exact gestation I was when I had DS. Thought for sure this little one would be here by now. Membrane sweep tomorrow!

@jennypenny i have my ultrasound tomorrow to see the position and discuss the ECV vs C-section. Let me know how yours goes on wednesday morning!

@MissLace: will do. Fingers crossed your LO is head down and you don't have to consider either
nectarine / 2460 posts
Hey mamas with head down babies, what do your kicks feel like? Up until now I've mostly had a giant lump at the top and occasionally smallish kicks elsewhere. Even when I thought he was head down this is what I was feeling, just the big lump felt maybe like a butt. Suddenly tonight I'm feeling tiny things all over. Like 2-3 small nubbins moving at a time. I can't remember clearly what DS1 felt like but I think this is more similar. This whole pregnancy I've felt like this LO barely moved. I wonder if the 1 doctor who told me by feel that LO was head down was wrong, and I was always wrong and maybe he's flipped!?
pear / 1739 posts
@JennyPenny: I feel hiccups deep in my pelvis when she has them. Butt is usually around the belly button area and feet are on one side or the other. I only really feel her feet and hiccups from time to time. She can't really move.
nectarine / 2460 posts
@littleblessings: hmm.. Maybe I've gone from breech to transverse then. There is definitely movement ALL over
pomelo / 5220 posts
@JennyPenny: I feel hiccups low and most kicks or hands up towards my ribs and sides. Sometimes multiple places at once but often just kicks in the same spot repeatedly. Although I can't say he's head down for sure since they move!
pomelo / 5791 posts
@JennyPenny: I don't know if this makes you feel better or not, but my baby still flips from breech to head down to transverse multiple times a day. She gets hiccups frequently, so it's easy to tell. That being said, I also have bigger babies, so how she has room to do that, I have no idea!!! Hopefully, your babe will be head down when they do the check!
I'm so excited for you all that are getting close!!! Two more weeks (from tomorrow) for me, until my csection! I WAS going to work right up until my csection, but I've come down with bronchitis, DS1 had a fever and cough last week, and DS2 has a respiratory AND ear infection! We've had a tough week! So, I'm making this my last week and starting my leave early. I think a week "off" to really get prepared (mentally and physically) will really do me some good. DH was surprised when I told him, and frankly, not very supportive about it (huge eyeroll there), but I need to do what I need to do!
nectarine / 2460 posts
@ValentineMommy: I thought he was flipping a ton still but I'm so unsure now. I wish he had hiccups so I could tell! And a week off sounds amazing, regardless of what your husband (who has not been carrying a human being for the last 8 months) thinks!
So I haven't had anymore obvious limb movement today. I do have a big large lump, but its actually below my belly button, when usually I feel the large lumps up high at the top of my belly. What is this little guy doing!?
pomelo / 5791 posts
@JennyPenny: I just can't keep working! Things have not been slowing down (at work) and I just need to wrap things up and call it a day, you know?? The nursery still isn't totally finished (though the dresser should be coming today) and I just need to nest and get over this lingering illness in the house. I'm going to lysol the hell out of it lol! I would guess the baby is moving down - and your bump sounds exactly like mine! Mine was really high up and I was having trouble breathing, but despite her position, she's definitely moved down lower!
