    @redsmarties: still at work! trying to hold off until Friday and just baby-sit some programs/processes (and save as much time as possible for after-baby).

    @chanzi: Thank my procrastinating husband for that ;). I couldn't go any further with the nursery until he cleared bins out of there, which JUST happened this weekend. I also need him to:

    1. take the stroller out of the nursery and put it in the car
    2. take the vacuum upstairs so I can clean the floor of the nursery
    3. take a bench out of the nursery and put it in the car to take to my mom's house

    sigh. I think I may have to resort to putting some things back in my stepdaughter's closet. She's not using it at all, and her closet is twice the size of the nursery closet.

    @lawbee11: mmmm, sounds like fun! For me it would need to be a big jug.

    Oh, and I've now had two people ask me if my baby is a Hurricane Sandy baby lol. Apparently that hit October 25th and the hospitals have been seeing a greater influx of pregnant women giving birth in the last week or so.

    "Thank you so much for being curious about how often and why we have sex, but no, this baby was the result of months of trying and careful timing. We actually conceived a week and a half after the storm hit."

    @redsmarties: Love the stripes on the walls! Your hanging shelves in the closet are similar to something I have, but I couldn't make it work (too many clothes on hangers). So pretty!

    @JennyG: Thanks! I love how it turned out too!

    @.twist.: Love the way it looks...even without anything on the walls!!!

    @chanzi: Thanks!!! Thats the feel I was going for...

    @lawbee11: thanks - the rocker is my favorite piece. My mom gifted it to us and I felt bad about how much $$ it was - but my mom actually is the one that picked it so she made her bed! Its SO comfy...I think I may fall asleep in it often!

    @redsmarties: Holy clothes and diapers stash!!! I'm jealous! The room looks great.

    AFM...I'm at work...and literally trying SO hard not to bite everyones heads off here. Honestly...I cannot wait to see how things function around here without me...I better get a big raise when I come back in December.

    Oh and I have a 35 weeks appointment tomorrow. I had some cramping feelings (so contractions) yesterday - nothing consistent or too strong. But I am anxious to see if I have dilated any - I was totally "thin" last week but not dilated so I am wondering if I have made more progress.

    DH started to panic more this weekend after the departure of that golfer from the tourny b/c his wife was in labor 3 weeks early. I think it is becoming real for him!

    @Mrs D: That stash is nearly entirely courtesy of my mom and MIL. They're both crazy shoppers...I don't think I'll need clothes/diapers for ages.
    Unless baby comes out a boy. Then we're in trouble.

    @lawbee11: Sorry you have to do the 24 hour urine thing! I've had to do it a couple times since my family has a history of kidney disease, and it's not as bad as it seems. Except for it being weird to keep a jug of pee in the fridge... I did my collection on the weekend so I didn't have to deal with it at work!

    This weekend we went to a party hosted by a couple with kids and they offered to let us borrow their baby swing! I'm super excited since I wanted to have one if we needed it but we didn't really want to buy one. I don't know which swing it is since it's currently on loan to someone else (who doesn't need it anymore), but it's one that plugs in to the wall. Yay! Hopefully it is not too ridiculously large to fit in our living room--we still need to fit the rocking chair in there too.

    @.Twist.: Love the nursery in use picture I think it looks fabulous even without anything on the walls!
    @redsmarties: Love the nursery and that diaper stash is great!!
    @StrawberryBee: We had someone actually calculate our conception date at a bbq and ask if that was a significant date! Uh... yeah, it was hubby's birthday! Embarrassing!

    I went to bed around 10:30 last night with contractions that weren't very painful, but pretty consistent, I could not sleep through them. They came every 10 minutes, a few were pretty strong, but it's 10:45am and they're still coming just as frequent. I don't know what to do! I'm sitting here at work and all I can think about is these dumb contractions! Unless they're making progress, then they aren't dumb

    @.twist.: Aww, the nursery came out so nice! And not blue at all.

    @lawbee11: Hope the tests turn out ok. Jug-o-pee. LOL.

    @redsmarties: LOVE the stripes! The nursery turned out gorgeous!

    @chanzi: Whoohoo for free stuff!

    I wish I was on mat leave already. I have three full weeks to go. Feels like FOREVER. I'm tempted to use my last three vacation days as random days off to survive the next bit, but I'm afraid I'll need them. Plus, it seems like the work is just piling up and I already don't think I"m going to get everything done in time. Sigh. Next baby, I'm leaving work at least 2 weeks early.

    I visited the OB this morning and she has me kinda worried...

    I thought the LO had dropped since I suddenly feel more pressure and there is no doubt the grinding and hands I have felt in my pelvis and when Mr. Hedgie or I tried to feel my cervix it was so high we couldn't find it! Stupid us assumed that meant it had started to thin. Ha! Nope. The OB even had trouble finding it and was pressing down hard on my belly just to get the slightest feel. All because LO was SUPER high and hadn't even begun to drop at all. Ugh.

    When they checked my BP it was super high. They did it again after I took a deep breath and it was closer to normal so they weren't concerned. But I don't go around all day taking super deep breaths... That in addition with the sudden intense swelling (which of course wasn't there when I went to the Dr. because I had just woken up and had been laying down/reclined for 12 hours before that... Keep in mind, before pregnancy I had super low BP. Like, high for me was a within normal but high for everybody else. They know this. It also explains my lightheadedness.

    That isn't what really worried me though, it was the look on her face when she told me I had somehow managed to gain 9 lbs in less than 3 weeks?!?! 9 lbs?! Holy crap! Right after that she said that she said she wanted to schedule a sono. I happen to know that she doesn't do sonos at the end unless she believes there is cause for one. She doesn't do them for positioning since she can feel it (unless she is REALLY unsure) and doesn't like unnecessary sonos. She said she could tell LO was head down my feel and by the fact that while there she kicked my ribs a couple times. So, it isn't for positioning...

    What could cause a sudden 9 lb jump in wight?! Water weight? Insane growth spurt? I have been eating right... Ugh... I have to wait a week to find out!

    Sorry this was so long.

    @StbHisMrs: Call the Dr! How far apart are they? This could be the real deal!

    @Grace: I have 3 weeks left too and I sooo wish I didn't! Looking at the fact that LO could be here any day in the next 4 (5 if they she is late and the induce) there is so much to do! I should be at home doing them! lol. I am just hoping it will make the time pass by faster.

    @Mrs D: Love the nursery! The circles above her bed are too cute!

    @.twist.: I totally did a second take on the baby on the changer. lol. I really like the colors though. Mr. Hedgie wouldn't let me use yellow but I think it is so cute!

    pomegranate / 3329 posts

    @Mrs Hedgehog: I have super low BP too, so anytime it's "high" for me I begin to worry. I average out at 92/68 or something like that. Could the weight gain be from the swelling? She's making you wait a week for the sono? That's crazy!

    They're about 10 minutes apart, but my stomach is staying super tight and not relaxing. I'm giving myself a few more hours before I call. I don't want to go in for nothing again.

    @StbHisMrs: She said she wanted to get a better idea of size and positioning but it came right after she said "9 lbs since last visit? Was there a typo???" Nope. I saw the scale. 9 lbs. I am thinking it might be water weight. My hands are so swollen right now I can't even make a fist... of course it wasn't like that when I saw her...

    @StrawberryBee: We were gifted an Avent bottle/sterilizer set so I use the sterilizer from that. It’s simple – 7oz of water and 4 minutes in the microwave. Faster than boiling water to sterilize.
    And LOL at the Hurricane Sandy comment. People…

    @lawbee11: LOL!!! Sorry, I was just imagining opening the work fridge to find a gallon of yellow liquid, and thinking it might be lemonade, but SIKE!!!! Oh man….

    @redsmarties: Look at that organization and collection of clothes!

    @Mrs Hedgehog: I also had really low BP throughout pregnancy! Maybe it’s water weight that you’ve gained? Since the OB scheduled your sono a week out, it doesn’t seem “urgent” so try not to stress yourself out too much until then (if possible).

    @StbHisMrs: 10 minutes apart lasting how long? This is kind of exciting we might have another baby soon!!

    @MrsB2012: Awwww! Look at the cutie patootie!

    @Alivoo01: 10 minutes apart for the last 15 hours...no change, not excruciating, but not comfortable, they last a good 45-60 seconds. My husband thinks it's a tease again, he said I shouldn't call. I'm wavering between calling and not calling. They're worse when I'm walking around.

    @redsmarties: love the nursery! It looks so relaxing and serene. I have three and a half more days of work, but I'm so ready to be done! I work tomorrow, half of Thursday, Saturday, and next Tuesday, then I'm done. I work retail so I spend the whole day almost standing, so I get worn out pretty quick!

    @lawbee11: Laughing at the idea of a pee jug in the office fridge! Hope everything turns out ok with your pre-e test though!

    @JessKas: no problem!

    @StbHisMrs: Wow, that's about as awkward as they come! I wonder if my MIL will ever figure out that our conception date is her birthday ;).

    and wow, contractions! The worse thing they can do is check you out and send you home, right? I still have yet to feel one. Have a feeling that statement is about to tempt fate.

    @Mrs Hedgehog: I'm sorry you have to wait a week :(. On the plus side, if she was REALLY concerned, she'd probably have scheduled it sooner, right? It sounds like it's probably mostly fluid?

    @Vegmama: Thank you!

    @StrawberryBee: OMG, people have no boundaries. That's like people asking if you were trying to get pregnant. It none of their damn business!

    @Mrs Hedgehog: I've gained like 12 pounds in a month! My doctor didn't say anything, but did schedule me for an ultrasound because I'm measuring big. I didn't really gain any weight before that though, so I'm really only up 10 pounds for the whole shebang. I'm thinking its a mixture of water weight, baby, and the fact that I've become super sloth like...hoping our ultrasound on Thursday goes well. I'll let you know what they find. My doctor also didn't schedule the ultrasound for right away. I would think if they were really concerned about it, they would try to see you ASAP.

    @MrsB2012: cute girl! Thanks for sharing a picture of your LO. She is precious!

    @StbHisMrs: seems like you should at least call...see what they say. Fingers crossed for you that they either go away or start progressing into something!

    @.twist.: Pretty good considering the surprise arrival!

    @redsmarties: I'm on leave, but technically on vacation until the 7th unless baby comes early and I have to change to being officially on maternity.

    @lawbee11: I did the 24 hour urine catch as well. Luckily I was able to do it over a weekend. HOWEVER, we had the genius idea to make a super quick trip over to our maibox on the other side of the border to pick up some stuff, and of course didn't want to take a big jug labeled "BIOHAZARD" into the US. End of story, we got held up at customs for an extra couple hours and I was almost in tears by the time time we got home trying to hold my pee to get it in the jug. I had a good giggle at the concept of just leaving it in the break room fridge at work though.

    @redsmarties: such a precious nursery. I love the purple!

  25. Sapphiresun

    nectarine / 2220 posts

    @StrawberryBee: People are so inappropriate sometimes! I find old men especially. I had one that I barely know, point at my belly, and go "Was that on purpose?". Umm... so, you'd like to know if my child is the product of a bad decision or something? Actually we struggled with infertility for almost 2 years... it was VERY much on purpose.

    @StbHisMrs: Oh wow, that sounds like something might be going on!

    @Mrs Hedgehog: You were talking about how swollen you were just the other day, weren't you? I went to my GD dr with a 6lb weight gain in a week and when he poked me he said I was +3 for swelling, so likely that's where the weight came from. "Wet gain" he said. I have the same thing where I wake up in the morning and can barely close my hands, and they're kind of sore all day. You may end up on 24 hour urine catch too though... since swelling and high BP at this point, COULD be an indicator of pre-eclampsia.

    @MrsB2012: Beautiful, congrats!

    @StrawberryBee: I love all these concerns about conception dates. My husband was participating in Movember this year, and had a seriously heinous stache the entire month. I just keep hoping that nobody does the math and realize I was having sex with him anyway.

  26. JamieLee

    clementine / 930 posts

    @Mrs Hedgehog: @Sapphiresun: I also have serious hand problems. I've been waking up with major hand pain every night/morning and can't make a fist or grab anything, and them all day I have tingling and numbness in the tips of my fingers. It's super annoying. My doctor said its likely a form of carpal tunnel syndrome, from the swelling. The fluid retention makes the tissue in the wrist swell and compresses the space the carpal nerve runs through causing issues. I've been prone to carpal tunnel problems before, so I'm not surprised by this new development...

    Finally back from my 35 (36 per me) week appointment. A morning of fun. I noticed baby girl wasn't moving much last night. When I mentioned that this morning my Dr said well then you get to go to L&D to be monitored. 3 hours later I am finally at work. All is well, actually by the time I got to the hospital and all hooked up Ms Kate was moving SO much they couldn't get a baseline!!! Talk about frustrating!

    Anyways - all is well. I had 3 contractions in the hour or so I was on the machines but am still not dilated. They did a US and she looks good and the fluid levels are good. So they sent me home with count sheets to track her movement for the next 7 days until my next appointment.

    My step dad was all fire up today that they had me see the nurse practitioner not the doctor...so I need to reschedule my appointment for next week to make sure I am seeing a Dr - per his orders.

    @redsmarties: Love your nursery!! The decal behind the crib is awesome!!

    @StrawberryBee: OMG I can't believe people are asking you that! Some people have no filter.

    @Mrs Hedgehog: Ugh I can totally relate re: sudden weight gain/swelling as I am dealing with the same thing. I am hoping it's just the heat/normal pregnancy swelling and not pre-e. That sucks that you have to wait a week to find out, but hopefully everything on the sono will be normal and will put your mind at ease!

    @Vegmama: Thanks for your kind words and for checking in on us!!

    @MrsB2012: Gah she is gorgeous!! Seeing that pic makes me really excited to meet our little girl

    @StbHisMrs: OMG it's so obvious that you have kids already--if I were having those kinds of contractions I would be freaking out and probably would have gone to L&D! You're so calm and rational!!

    @Mrs D: Glad everything went well at your appt, despite having to be monitored. Did they say how much she should be moving? My OB always asks if I have felt her moving at my appointments and I always say yes, but it's definitely less than it used to be (I assume because she's running out of room in there). But I don't know what's really normal movement at this stage in pregnancy.

  30. Mrs D

    grapefruit / 4545 posts

    @lawbee11: 10 kicks in an hour is ideal, 5 to 10 kicks is normal. Kicks is general...any movement counts.

    They gave me a sheet to track it on. I am supposed to take an hour around the same time every day, preferably after a meal when she is more likely to be active, and count how long it takes her to get to 10 movements. Less than 5 movements in 2 hours warrants at minimum a call to the hospital. They want me to do it every day to see if there are any significant changes (like Day 1 it takes 40 mins, the next day it takes 1 hr 20 mins).

    There is a kick count sheet in this pdf: https://intermountainhealthcare.org/ext/Dcmnt?ncid=521066381

    I just got back from my 38 week appointment. I have had more bleeding the last two days so I had another cervical check. Still at 2cm. Now I have even more bleeding from the check boo. I can't win!

    She said my babe is lower and very excited due to its quick heart beat. Hopefully it's just gearing up to make its appearance soon!

    I do kick counts twice a day. Usually when I'm just lying down for a rest. I usually get to 10 within 20 mins or so.

    @Mrs D: I'm glad all is well with baby girl! I'm sure it was scary feeling decreased movements. She is just trying to get into a good nap schedule for you I bet!

    @StbHisMrs: so many false alarms for you I hope the real deal is just around the corner!

    @MrsB2012: awwwww so adorable! Did you share her name or did I just miss it?

    @Mrs D: I'm so glad to hear everything is okay! Sometimes my lil' man will go almost a whole day without moving, but I've found that it's usually when I'm super busy and moving around a lot myself. He really prefers to move when I'm lying down totally still, so whenever I get worried about it I go lay on the couch and he'll start moving right away. I've noticed every day is different, he doesn't always move at the same times or as intense every day.

    @delight: I'm sorry to hear about the bleeding I've heard that cervical checks hurt, is this true? I am getting one on Friday and I'm a little nervous. What exactly does it entail?

  33. Mrs. Oatmeal

    @delight: Sorry about the bleeding - hopefully its just a good sign that things are progressing!!
    I had some obvious contractions last night (not the painless BH ones), but there were only about five of them, and they tapered off. Sharp pains in my low abdomen, then a dull cramping and tightening all the way up and around my back. They're gone now.

    Set up our pack n play this morning, and baked two kinds of muffins! Might go to Target this afternoon....might just nap!

    Oh, and am I the only one not feeling contractions? I know I'm getting them since I have to go for nonstress tests every week, but I don't feel any pain or tightening at all. I just have no idea what is normal, I'm only 35 weeks so it seems a little early to be having contractions, but maybe not?

    For those of you who can feel contractions, how do you know for sure it is a contraction? I'll have random aches/pains sometimes, but they usually only last a few seconds and I think it's because the baby is moving/dropping and pressing on something.

    @Modern Daisy: When I was getting induced, the nurse told me I was contracting, and I didn't even feel it! Then again, I don't think I ever felt BH contractions while pregnant either....

    @Modern Daisy: Up until last night (38+5), all I ever noticed was that my stomach would feel hard from time to time. I didn't feel it tightening, and it certainly wasn't painful. I'd just touch it and it would be ROCK solid for about 30 seconds or so. I asked my MW about it, and she confirmed these were BH contractions.

    BUT, these only started about 2 or 3 weeks ago. Apparently some people never get them at all.

  38. Mrs D

    grapefruit / 4545 posts

    @delight: 2cm is better than my 0cm! Hang in there - SO close!!!

    @Modern Daisy: Thats what they said - since she moved so much they said I am either so active that I just dont feel her little movements or I have become kind of numb to them and dont process them! Now I just need to be more aware! You are probably having contractions and dont know it. Again, I think the early ones (I am 35 weeks like you) are probably not felt much if you are up and about. I had would have said (before todays test) that I have an occasional one throughout the day but no regularity - then on the monitor today I had 3 in just over 1 hour. Small - but a contraction nonetheless. I have two kinds - one where I have a tightening feeling starting on my sides and moving towards my stomach. The other is a more period cramp feeling - these are what I have started having more recently (like this weekend) - they last only about 20 seconds and are totally irregular!

    @MrsB2012: Awwww. What a cutie.

    @StbHisMrs: Ugh. That's a lot of contractions to deal with for a false alarm. What did the doctor tell you about when to come in? Mine said 5 minutes apart for 1 hour and lasting 1 min each. AND, when I couldn't talk through the pain, if possible.

    @Mrs D: My baby has been doing that lately too. Being really mellow and freaking me out because there is less movement and then kicks up a storm.

    @delight: @redsmarties: Ooo - sounds promising!

    @Modern Daisy: Almost 37 weeks here and haven't even felt a Bracxton Hicks, never mind a real one. You aren't alone.
