    @StrawberryBee: Congratulations!

I feel like the only one still hoping that baby can wait a little longer before making an appearance! Right now I'm making granola, boiling wheat berries, cooking chickpeas, and assembling enchiladas. This afternoon is lasagna time! DH wants baby to wait until after Friday for him to get some work things done at work, so I think by the end of the week we'll both be more ready. Although ideally I still want baby to wait for my mom to get here! For being almost 39 weeks I am feeling pretty good.

@StrawberryBee: Congrats on the baby girl! Ella is such a sweet name

@redsmarties: Good luck with the sweep, I'm hoping they'll do one to me at my appointment tomorrow. Hope it isn't too painful and it brings on the baby!

Last week when I went to the midwife my cervix was "long and closed" but yesterday I had menstrual like cramps for a couple hours and my belly kept getting super hard. Then I lost some of my mucus plug. Hopefully this means baby is coming soon! My due date is Monday, but I would be SUPER happy with a weekend baby. I have my jug of RRL tea ready to go for the day and hopefully will get a long walk in.

I cleaned the house from top to bottom yesterday and tied up some loose ends. I can't believe how real things are getting!

For those of you who noticed losing your mucus plug, would you have been aware of it if it happened when you were in a dark bathroom? I'm wondering if it's something I'm going to totally miss sometime when I get up to pee at night since I'm always half asleep and never turn on the light!

@chanzi: I'm with you...after my appointment yesterday when I found out I had made some progress I instantly was like "hmmmm not ready for this yet" - I'm ready at home but I still have plenty of work loose ends to tie up! I'll be happy if Baby stays put until 8/19...then she is allowed to come. Even that would be "early" since I am not due until the 28th.

    @JessKas: Sounds very promising!!!

@chanzi: I wouldn't have noticed at night or even during the day maybe. This is totally TMI, but DH and I had just DTD and I felt like there was still stuff up there, so I put a paper towel in my pants and when I removed it there was a good sized piece of the mucus plug. It wasn't bloody at all, and if it was in the toilet I don't think I would have seen it.

@chanzi: I wouldn't have noticed at night in a dark bathroom! I think you could totally miss it at night. I don't even know if I have lost mine. Like I've mentioned, I've been spotting since 35w but that's just from cervix dilating. I have noticed, especially after my membrane sweep, some more stringy dark red stuff (sorry gross) so maybe that's pieces of my plug?

All I know is I'm ready. And if baby doesn't want their dad to be mad at mom forever for making him miss the golf tournament today, it better get a move on. Ideally after 9 pm when book club is done....

I'm bored, have cleaned the house twice today, so off to target!

@chanzi: Even though I'm so huge and uncomfortable, I want baby to wait too! I'm officially working from home now starting today so I am really looking forward to these next few weeks to get a lot of things done. It's such a slow time at work for me right now, I can use a lot of my downtime to cook, clean, organize, etc.

@redsmarties: good luck! I had a sweep at my appointment last Friday (I was already 2 cm) and I went into labor that afternoon!

@chanzi: I only knew I lost mine because I saw it--I couldn't feel it come out, so I wouldn't have known in a dark bathroom.

@StrawberryBee: I love her name, so pretty!! Congratulations, it sounds like everything went so well

@redsmarties: Happy due date I'm crossing my fingers that this will get things going for you!!

@chanzi: Oh my gosh, send me some of your energy! I made dinner last night, folded some laundry, chased around the kids, and then mopped the floors. There is no way I could do mealplans and freezer meals at 39 weeks! How do you do it?!

So, there are just too many ladies in labour today - they couldn't do my sweep (or even a cervical check) because they didn't want to risk putting me into labour, too. That being said, I can call Saturday and Monday to see if she's available to do one then - guess it just depends on how many babies there are!

Frustrated, because I was hoping that the sweep would get things going. Oh well. We're also chatting about potential induction dates, just in case...I'd like to avoid that if possible!

@redsmarties: brutal! Too many ladies in labour? Sheesh! What's one more!! Hopefully things start to happen on their own this weekend for you. Looks like my sweep didn't really move things along. I guess I'll have another Tuesday.

Meanwhile I bought babe this cute kimono onesie at the gap friends and family sale! Trying to entice it to come on out and enjoy its new clothes!

@redsmarties: Oh my! That would be weird to hear.

@delight: That is so cute! I'm going to drag DH to the Friends and Family sale this weekend too. I didn't realise it started today.

@delight: That's way too cute! Sorry your sweep didn't do anything - maybe something will just happen this weekend on its own. That's what I'm hoping for anyways.
@Grace: Yeah, frustrating, but I understand. I'd rather her tell me that there are too many babies right now than go into labour and realize my midwife couldn't be there.

@chanzi: my DH asked me to keep LO in until after next Monday...I told him I'd have a chat with baby boy...lol!

I had my 38 week appointment today, and my doctor and I chatted about induction dates. She is on call the 14th and 21st. Due date is the 18th. She said she doesn't feel like we need to do it on the 14th so I have an appointment for the 15th to get a cervical check (my first). If I don't go into labor by then, we will be on the books for the 21st. I'm just hoping baby comes on his own before then! I'm planning to do some long walks this weekend and dig out my exercise ball to bounce on. Also, I told DH we had to DTD too...I have no RRL tea, and forgot to look for some while I was in town today so if we head in this weekend I'll pick some up. Any other advice? I really would prefer to skip the induction.

    Hey all,

It has been HECTIC here. Baby is not a good feeder/likes to sleep a lot so.... 1.5 hours to feed... repeat on a three hour cycle only leaves 1.5 hours for me to do all those important things like feed myself, go to dr's appointments since she's dropped a little more weight than ideal and SLEEP when she's not leaves very little time for anything else. She was up from midnight until 5 am SCREAMING the night before last so I got maybe 3 hours sleep all day. But she's absolutely adorable, and officially Natalie Paige.

I'm completely behind on this thread... so I'm sure I've missed a few births. Congrats to all the new August Mamas!

@Alivoo01: @.twist.: I have no idea how you ladies find the time to actually be on the internet for "fun". I barely managed to get on for an hour in the last few days just to file for my maternity leave and register her birth. So busy with visitors and survival. So, props to you ladies!

  25. .twist.

    pineapple / 12802 posts

@Sapphiresun: the first couple weeks I didn't get on the Internet at all. And even now my fun time has drastically decreased from what it was while I was pregnant.

A lot of my Internet time happens while LO is sleeping on me and I'm on my iPad! I also am on my iPad while I breast feed. I also have absolutely nothing else to do during the day so I get über bored.

  26. Sapphiresun

    nectarine / 2220 posts

@.twist.: That might be the difference. I've got a lazy feeder, so it takes both hands. One to "force" her to keep her head there, and then the other to do aggressive compressions on the breast when she gets lazy about sucking. It's super hard to keep her interested. So, a good portion of her food comes from doing hand expression onto a spoon and then dripping it into her mouth just to be sure she has enough. The things we do, eh?

  27. Alivoo01

    wonderful olive / 19353 posts

@Sapphiresun: I totally feel ya on having little time to sleep the first 2 weeks! DS was taking pumped milk in a bottle for his feeding so by the time I finish feeding him, pump for next session, wash parts, I have maybe an hour to sleep before he wakes up again to feed! He's sleeping 4 hour stretches now and is starting to BF so I get a little more shut eye, which is amazing!

I also get on when he sleeps, or when there's no point of going to sleep because it'll only be about 30 minutes and I don't do well on short naps. LOL

    cantaloupe / 6730 posts

@Sapphiresun: Yikers! Hopefully she'll get into a rhythm and give you more time as she gets a little older. Love the name!

I had my 38 week appointment today and my OB said that she can offer a membrane sweep next week! Aak! That makes it feel so much more real. I'm not sure I'll take her up on it though. I might save it until the following week.

Question for you ladies that have delivered.... So I went to the dr today, and they only did anything with the baby. Said they have nothing to do with me for 6 weeks unless there's an obvious problem. So... when I got back to my car, I got to thinking... that I have stitches down there. Total TMI question, but are the dissolving?? 6 weeks seems like too long to leave them in, so they must be??

  30. .twist.

    pineapple / 12802 posts

@Sapphiresun: mine are dissolving! I so wish the doctors would talk to you or look at things down there at these appointments. 6 weeks is a lot of time for something to go wrong and not notice because of pain meds or just dealing with pain in general.

  31. StrawberryBee

    nectarine / 2530 posts

@Sapphiresun: I was told that my stitches are dissolvable.

I think I forgot to mention I have a second degree tear on my perineum. So...stitches, yeah lol.

Waiting for it to not hurt when I sit/ get out of bed. Baby girl isn't even 24 hours old!

My nips are sore because she gets herself so worked up that she refuses to open her mouth wide enough to latch properly. Already debating exclusively pumping

@.twist.: @StrawberryBee: Ok, I asked my mom and real life friends too and they all said the same thing. That makes me happy! But I also wish they'd look. I had a "long second degree tear" but didn't go right through, and I narrowly escaped an episotomy too. Like, enough that they were GOING to do it, and turned around to get the scissors and it was too late, but the tear wasn't as bad as they thought it would be.

So I'm being admitted to the hospital. My water broke at 3:30 this morning. We headed in to the hospital, got hooked up to some monitors, and they just started an IV (I'm positive for GBS so I have to get antibiotics). We're just waiting for a room to open up so we can move out of triage. Apparently they were very busy last night!

@Sapphiresun: sorry life has been so hectic, but I bet baby N will get into a rhythm soon. I love her name by the way, that is my DH's girl's name pick. I like to pretend to myself that I will be surfing the net, reading my books and enjoying life like usual when babe arrives, but I suppose that won't be the case. At least not for the first few weeks!

Also, my best friend delivered a few weeks ago and at her first doctor appointment they didn't check her stitches. She had really bad pain so she ended up calling the hospital and got in to see an OB there. Turns out she had a bad infection so be careful! Go back to the doctor or go see someone if you are worried about anything!

@Grace: beautiful nursery, the dresser looks great!!

@JamieLee: yeah another baby on the way!! Best wishes for a smooth delivery!

@Grace: Love the nursery - it turned out great!!! The dresser is awesome too - I feel like I saw that on one of my bloggers I follow - so cool!!!

@JamieLee: Ahhhh! Another baby - love it!!! Good luck -cant wait for the update!

@Sapphiresun: Sorry your struggling to get into a rhythm with LO - but it'll happen. I have delusions of having time to surf the internet and read and such - I know the reality is likely to be very different! As for the stitches - like others have said they likely are dissolving ones...but make sure you mention it if something feels off - better safe than sorry!
