@Alivoo01: my OB said peeing less is just a perk of the second tri. Your uterus has moved up and off your bladder.

Had an amazing u/s appointment today! I had it in my head that baby would look like an oval-shaped blob, but it was so well-formed... And ACTIVE! Oh my goodness, so much fluttering and waving and cuteness! We did get a pic, but I don't have it in digital form yet.
It's starting to feel real now - I was keeping myself from getting too excited until today's appointment. Turns out I'm not the only one - my mom confessed she's bought clothes AND Fischer Price toys (she claims it was a clearance sale, after Christmas!)
Question - is anyone waiting until after the results of their NT/IPS scan to share their news with friends and extended family?

@Grace: So happy your appointment went well! What a relief! @Ocean girl: Isn't it amazing how so tiny can already look like a baby? It's all so unreal! I'm glad your ultrasound went well!
As for me, just chillin at 15 weeks 5 days. I love how the weeks are starting to go by fast now. I truly felt like the first trimester dragged, but things are starting to pick up now. It's exciting to finally have a little bump, and I can't wait for it to get to the point where it looks like I had more than a few cheeseburgers!

@JamieLee: I drive a MINI and I love my car, but I know only a limited number of car seat models will fit. And I really don't think I could get a stroller in there. Car issues are a pain...!
@Grace: so glad it went well! Looks like our babies just don't want to keep still for dopplers!
@Alivoo01: I've noticed this a little too. It's gone from 4 times a night to about 2. The change made me nervous, but apparently it's normal, so I'm *trying* not to worry!
@JamieLee: We've started talking names! Since we're Team Green (woot!) we're trying to come up with multiple boy and girl name options so we can look at the baby and decide which one fits when he/she is born. So far we have 2 full boy names and 1 full girl name.
@Ocean girl: yay for a good appointment and another active baby! We opted out of the NT scan, and started telling close friends today. I'm at 12w2 so I'm feeling a little better about telling some people.
@skipper2010: I'm so jealous! I can't wait to have a bump now- I just have some serious bloat, lol.

@msmay: MINIs are so cute! If I didn't live in northern Michigan, that would be my dream car. Sadly, we live on a dirt road that turns into a mud wrestling pit in the spring, and we get quite a bit of snow so I need four wheel drive and high ground clearance. Maybe someday when I can afford a summer car!

@Modern Daisy: @JamieLee: @msmay: @skipper2010: @Alivoo01: @Lawbee11: Thanks! It feels so much more real now. Did you feel that after you saw your LO?
@Ocean girl: Congrats on a great U/S! We aren't getting any tests done, so we're telling DH's (out of province) family this weekend and then we're going to tell everyone else next week. It will be so great to no longer have the secret!
@Alivoo01: Ok, I'm peeing more! I hardly felt anything changes in the first trimester and now I can't make it through the night. Wonder if my bladder is in a weird spot.
@JamieLee: I like Violet, Hailey and Autumne the best with Cynthia

@Ocean girl: Yay for a good appointment and an exciting ultrasound. We announced to our parents a few weeks after we found out. Haven't publicly announced yet. Maybe this coming week! not sure why I'm holding out so long honestly. Ha!
@skipper2010: I agree the second trimester is going by a lil quicker than the 1st; and can't wait to have a more prominent bump! I have noticeable one now if you really look and I'm wearing more fitting shirts, or after a nice meal. Ready for the, OMG! I have a baby in there, and everyone just gives me the sly smile like aw... congrats momma look.
@msmay: phew! Glad I'm not the only one bc it was a question I was planning on asking the OB tomorrow at our appt. It kind of freaked me out at first because when I woke up, it was 6 hours later, and I only peed once.
@Grace: I felt a little more assurance after each ultrasound seeing it get bigger, look more like a baby, and be more active. They sure do space these ultrasounds out just right because right when I start worrying about the baby's well-being, I have an appt around the corner to calm me down and bring a big ole smile to my face.

@redsmarties: How did your appointment go yesterday?
@.twist.: @Mrs Hedgehog: Can't wait to hear about y'alls updates later today!

The appointment went SUPER well. The heartbeat was good, BP was good. I actually lost weight since my last appt but we blame that on the morning sickness. The Dr. simply said "good news! You are still pregnant!" lol. She had to take me off my iron supplements because they were causing to much... uhm... bloating. (Aka, I can't poop and it sucks and makes me more nauseous because of the bloating associated. Sorry TMI but I am sure we have all gone through it.) And I had to get more Zofran... darn it.
But... I got a totally FREE surprise sono!!!! The U/S tech needed to practice on babies 11-13 weeks for a certification. I happen to be 12. So, the asked if I was busy and if I wanted to do it... I think I have her the dumbest look because she laughed and said "Yeah, I didn't expect to hear a no." Mr. Hedgie was so mad he didn't listen to me and go to this appt.
It actually looked like a real baby in there! Instead of a deformed lima bean with a heart!. We had a head and body and I could see arms flailing and legs kicking. Boy was that baby jumping around! It took her forever to get a clear picture because, as she put it, we have a squirmer! But being able to see an actual baby inside there with real human moving parts was a perfect and amazing unexpected surprise! In one picture you can even actually make out the nose already! Its crazy. As soon as I figure out how to upload pictures here I will post one. I am going to see if Mr. Hedgie can scan it in so we have something better than a phone picture since they gave me print outs.

@.twist.: I can't wait to hear how yours went! I think it is kinda fun having someone else with an appt on the same day. Oh, and my next one is 3-13-13. That should be easy to remember! lol

@Grace: Yes, every time I see the baby on an untrasound it feels waaay more real. The what to expect book even said that it's normal to have disbelief about the pregnancy early on, which I have totally experienced!
@Mrs Hedgehog: So glad to hear your appointment went well! Seeing the arms and outline of the face is so cool
pear / 1812 posts
@Modern Daisy: I still have that! Seeing the baby almost wasn't real! I mean I knew it was MY baby but still. I think once there is a bump and this squirmer kicks me, it will feel a ton more real.

@Mrs Hedgehog: Awesome you got a free/extra ultrasound today!! Those are the best!! Did you ooo and ahhh when they pointed out all the baby features because the hubby and I sure did and I'm sure the nurse was annoyed by me and was like, okay lady... haha! It's just so fascinating seeing them move and be capable of doing so much already like drink the amniotic fluid and flail around a bit.

@JamieLee: I love Harper or Hailey!
@Modern Daisy: ooooh! hahaha I totally had to check the group to see what you meant. Yea, that would not be a good combo!
@Ocean girl: So glad to hear your appointment went well!!! I totally saved all my excitement for that 12 week appointment too. Once I heard that everything was good at that ultrasound, I let myself be 100% excited!!
@skipper2010: Aren't the weeks flying by?? I honestly feel like I have a gazillion appointments booked and I'm already running out of time! Exciting!
@Grace: After each appointment I definitely feel better and better! So glad to hear things went well.
@Mrs Hedgehog: So glad to hear your appointment went well! I have JUST started taking Iron supplements and am a little worried about the constipation to come. YAY for surprise sono's!
@Mrs Hedgehog: @Alivoo01: Thanks ladies!
My appointment went really well! Just met with my new OB. Hopefully she'll be my delivering doctor but there are a few other doctors in the office who do a 24 hour rotation so I will get one of them for sure! I FINALLY got to hear the baby's heart beat! I haven't had the chance up to this point and it was just SO COOL. I am still in disbelief! I told her at the beginning I was not sure I was pregnant since I've been feeling so normal lately, and she laughed and said that was totally normal but I definitely AM pregnant!
I also chatted with her about the um... lack of space in my vag for you know, sexy time. She also laughed again and said that would be my cervix and that it's totally normal. As the baby grows your cervix gets weighed down and creates less room. So, just in case anyone is wondering the same thing or reading but not commenting (I can't possibly be the only one!), it's TOTALLY normal!
pear / 1812 posts
@.twist.: I'm glad it went so well! Now, I haven't experienced the less room problem but I know it isn't uncommon. A friend of mine complained about the same thing. But she said they had to stop having sex because there wasn't enough room and it wad super painful. So atleast you aren't that bad off!
pineapple / 12802 posts
@Mrs Hedgehog: Yes, it doesn't hurt, I can just feel a distinct change (?) there and so can he! Which just freaked me out. LOL.
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@.twist.: Yay for hearing the baby's heart beat. Crazy to think it's the first time! And thanks for the insight on the lower cervix. No personal experience with that yet, but sexy time does feel different! I asked the hubby and he said it feels fine/the same so we'll see as time progresses!
pineapple / 12802 posts
@Alivoo01: I originally had asked DH if it felt different (because I couldn't tell) and he said it did. Then (TMI TIME) the other day I actually felt his penis move something.... I FREAKED OUT. hahaha anyway, that's apparently normal.

@lawbee11: *drooling over your stroller* I'm holding off getting any gear until I know what we're having, but I did just get a mailer for some pretty good deals at BBB....
@Grace: so glad to hear that your appointment went well and everything's okay!!
@Alivoo01: I still rarely get up to pee during the night. I don't think I drink enough :/.
@JamieLee: I love Ella, Summer, and Tessa from your list. With Cynthia, maybe Reagan Cynthia or Isabel Cynthia?
@Ocean girl: how wonderful that your U/S went well! Everyone was surprised at my first one, too...how could something 3 inches long look so human?
@Mrs Hedgehog: @.twist.: so glad to hear you two had great appointments!

My appointment was great! All of my bloodwork was normal, found out my blood type (cool), talked about my hospital tour and prenatal classes. Hubby came with me, and my midwife whipped out the Doppler so that he could hear the heartbeat. He recorded it on his phone, and he's been playing it for everyone!
Baby's healthy, about the size of a navel orange, my uterus is in the right spot. And I go for the anatomy/gender scan on March 14. Can't wait!!!
pear / 1812 posts
@redsmarties: @.twist.: How are you two already able to get anatomy scans??? I have to wait until 20 weeks a month after you guys!
nectarine / 2530 posts
@Mrs Hedgehog: the week of mar 14th would be my 20th ^^;;. I think they can do gender as early as 18, so it probably depends on the office.
@redsmarties: congrats on a good visit! So cute that your DH recorded the heartbeat!
blogger / honeydew / 7081 posts
@Mrs Hedgehog: yep, I'll be 18 weeks 5 days. I was told to book between March 9 (18 w) and March 23 (20w)
@.twist.: yay scan twins! How fun!

@Mrs Hedgehog: I'm having a gender scan at an elective u/s place at 16w! It costs $60 but it's worth it to me because I have no patience.

Happy Valentine's Day!
Yay for some great appointments! And how exciting is it that some of your anatomy/gender scans are coming up soon! Y'all are really going to test my resolve to stay on Team Green!
Has anyone been having dreams about whether baby is a boy or girl? I've had a couple, but baby switches back and forth between genders, lol.
pineapple / 12802 posts
@lawbee11: Oh you lucky girl, you! So jealous you get to find out at 16 weeks!!!!
@redsmarties: What time is your appointment?
@msmay: I had one a few weeks ago that it was a boy. However, every single person around me except one co-worker says it's a girl. I think it's wishful thinking on their part. LOL.
nectarine / 2530 posts
@lawbee11: oh, I would SO pay $60 for that! The wait is killing me.

@msmay: Stay with me girl!!! I need my Team Green ladies! I've had a dream baby was a girl but my gut says boy. It's what DH thinks too.
Happy Valentine's!!!!

@redsmarties: 1:30pm MST, however depending on the time difference between us it might actually be much closer! wooooo!

@msmay: I've had one girl dream and one boy dream so far. I have a strong feeling I'm having a boy, but maybe I'll be surprised.
@StrawberryBee: @lawbee11: The wait truly does suck! I've literally been counting down the days until my anatomy scan. I have a lot going on this month though so it's going by pretty fast so far. I'm 16 weeks today. I can't believe it!

@Grace: I will! I just know it's going to be tough But I know the surprise will be worth it!

My appointment today was good and disappointing at the same time. Everything looks okay with the baby and teh ultrasound tech said all the measurements she was taking were in the normal range, but unfortunately despite all of my efforts to ensure I would get the results today it looks like that isn't going to happen. My Dr. is out, the ultrasound Dr. is out and the fill-in Dr. is super busy. She said she would 'try' to call me with the results today before 6, but can't promise anything.
This is super upsetting because DH and I still haven't announced to our families yet and we were waiting until today to do it since we were promised the results same-day. We wrote out V-day cards, addressed them and they're all ready to go. Now we have to decide if we want to wait even longer, potentially 3 weeks from now at my next appointment or if we should just bite the bullet and announce anyway. I am leaning towards announcing anyway since I'm already 12 weeks along and I just can't keep it a secret much longer, but this is still really stressful..
cherry / 163 posts
@Modern Daisy: I'm so sorry you might not get the results back today, especially since you were initially told you would get them the same day. If you don't get them today would you have to wait another 3 weeks or could they call you? (I'm not sure how this works.) If they have results tomorrow perhaps you could do slightly belated V-day cards?
