Gear wise, this is what I have in mind:
Crib: This is my big conundrum right now. The in-laws have said they want to buy it for us, so I'm trying to narrow down some choices before they get back from Hawaii so I can show her what I'm thinking. I probably won't decide until I know if it's a boy or girl though, because I like a white crib for a girl, but not a boy... Also, DH has thrown the idea of him building one into the mix, which I am not sold on yet. I'm not concerned about his skills, I just worry it won't get done!
Dresser: I have my dad on the lookout for pieces that we can use for a dresser and a changing table. He's a pro at finding amazing deals on furniture at antique shops and resale shops, and I'm not opposed to some elbow grease to refinish something.

Glider: I'm still trying to find on. I definitely want an upholstered one versus the wood with cushion style, but they're so pricey. So I will keep looking.

@.twist.: We're for sure borrowing a Chicco carseat base from my bff, and depending on what stuff we aren't gifted, we may borrow some other stuff like exersaucer/jumperoo/etc.

@.twist.: Almost all of my close friends have kids now, and my one girlfriend has been such a big help. In addition to offering lots of stuff to borrow, she's been emailing me all the stuff that she really liked and took a look at my list to see what's needed and what's not. He daughter is turning one at the beginning of March, so she's a pretty recent new mom.

@JamieLee: Nice! that is the same with this girlfriend, her youngest is 1.5! She's giving me all sorts of advice and I've asked her what kind of recommendations she has for gear and everything; she's been amazing! I think we're super lucky to have those kinds of friends!

@JamieLee: @lawbee11: @.twist.: thank you, I'm SO excited! She went directly to between the legs (I didn't recognize them as legs, though), and said she was going to cautiously say girl but she'd check back. She checked back probably at least 5 times, and each time the only thing she saw was the umbilical cord, so we're looking pretty good to stay burger! I'm also super relieved that she also does U/S work at my OB's office...makes her feel more official ^_^.
Baby was moving around a LOT, and had her hand up by her mouth with her mouth going (last pic)...we think maybe she was sucking her thumb! And we got video of it!! Heartbeat was 148. They had soft music playing in the background and I started tearing up when "Baby Mine" came on. Really wonderful experience, we were the only ones there and it was so worth the money to have this on cd.
@JamieLee: If you find an upholstered glider that's not $1,000, let me know. I also much prefer that look to the wood and cushion.

I feel like I am so behind on looking at baby gear! I mean, we started looking at what I fell in love with I found out got horrible reviews... so back to the drawing board. I also keep feeling like it is too early. But really, it isn't. I love some of what you guys have found though!

@Mrs Hedgehog: You really are not alone. I feel lost in a world of baby gear. DH and I are going to BBB today and I am a teensy bit terrified.
We did decide that we're probably going to give up my MINI. *sigh* It just seems like it's going to be difficult to swing with the size and we really don't want to limit our options for car seat/stroller too much. I know it can be done, but I also don't want to be struggling so much, especially when we are going to end up having more babies in the future anyway.

Ok - back from vacation...so much catching up to do!!!
I've read through all the chatter from the past week and feel like I missed out on so much! I love that we are all (since I am the last straggler) starting the second tri now and things are cruising along! So much better than the first tri when you feel like crap and are afraid to plan too much.
DH and I did a lot of talking over vacation (he was with me for half of it) and decided that our March and April must do's are 1) begin to register at least get the big stuff done 2) find furniture and order and 3) visit 3 daycares we have decided are atop our list.
As for baby gear - we are leaning towards the Britax B-Ready (http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4300657) for our travel set up and Britax Chaperone for the car seat (http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=12400132). Our friends who had a baby last June have both of these and I was enamored when we were visiting them with the ease of use. I have done some research and still feel good about the decisions, but DH needs to go shop around a bit to see for himself. Our friend was amazing and made me a list of all the things that I "oooh'd" and 'ahhh'd" over while we were there and sent them to me when I told her we were expecting. Some of the other things from my time there that I loved were the Boppy Lounger, Fisher Price Rock n Play, rainforest jumperoo, fisher price snug a bunny swing and bouncer. I have a feeling these things will also be on my registry. She also had a arms reach mini co-sleeper convertible that I liked a lot - she said it converted to a mini pack n play - I wont be registering for this since we have a small "basinette type" thing that babies in my family all sleep in (it gets passed around) so this is where our LO will be for the first month or two.
Ok - now on to furniture. DH and I are planning to go to the local PB Kids this weekend and check out cribs, dressers and rockers. My sister has a great one (like most gliders you see at BBB or BRUS) which is definitely potential for us but I really like the idea of getting something more usable in the future. Ok - thats all for money spending on this end. According to me, I am 13W on Weds, according to my doctor I'm 12W. However, all my nausea went away last week - which leads me to believe that is when I turned 12 W. Also, holding steady with no weight gain in the last 4 weeks which I am SO happy about!

@msmay: oh we definitely found out the sex of DS. i can't wait that long! i like to plan. MAYBE if we have a 3rd we'll let that be a surprise, but if #2 is a girl we are done!

So we broke the news to our families this weekend. I sent my parents a note from the baby and a shirt for my dog that says "Only Child" in big letters then in small print below "Expiring August 2013". They were sooo excited and thought it was really cute how I announced, even my Dad was impressed and he's a tough one to impress. Then we called DH's Mom and step-dad who were also really excited but didn't seem surprised, then we called DH's Dad and step Mom and they were screaming with excitement lol!
Our siblings were really happy for us and DH's brother is already super excited to find out the sex since he really wants a boy himself (has 2 girls). I feel kind of bad for my older sister though, because now she's the only one out of the 4 of us who doesn't have kids or is pregnant. Since she's older than me and married longer I think people are going to start giving her a hard time.. So I intentionally didn't ask her anything about her reproductive plans during the convo, I kept the subject on me when it came to that.

What do you think you're having? Hot dog or Hamburger? I don't have a strong feeling one way or another. Some days I feel hot dog and others I feel hamburger. DH thinks it's hot dog, and I tend to agree with him. We'll find out in less than 2 weeks!
Weight gain so far? I am still up only 2 lbs. My doctor said it's fine so I am trying not to worry!
What are you currently craving? Watermelon and Lucky Charms! I would also kill for some chocolate covered strawberries right about now.
Unpleasant symptoms? Gas, gas, and more gas. Also I have been really constipated lately.
Pleasant symptoms? Not many. My boobs haven't really grown at all (sometimes DH says they look bigger, but I think he's just trying to be nice). My hair looks really good, though!
Names that you love and your SO vetoed? For boys DH vetoed Cole and Colin. For girls he vetoed Avery and Madeline.

Weight gain so far? I'm down 6 lbs. Bit of a relief, actually. I'm overweight to begin with and I think gaining a lot will make my pregnancy really hard towards the end.
What are you currently craving? I am feeling a bit queasy right now, so I'm not craving anything.
Unpleasant symptoms? Morning sickness (but it's getting better), gas and itchy skin!
Pleasant symptoms? Nothing yet, I don't think. Unless being able to legitimately shop for baby stuff counts.

Hot Dog. with DS i knew immediately we were having a boy, this time it took a little longer to get the 'feeling' but i'm leaning towards boy again( i think i'm destined for all boys). we are hoping girl though!!! find out March 25th(so far away!)

What are you currently craving? nothing really. it changes and is more like just when you want something to eat really bad. so different from DS when all i wanted was Mexican food early on

Weight gain so far? UGH...6lbs - but I haven't gained any weight in 4 weeks - hoping I can stay here for another week or two since I am feeling good enough to w/o now!

Unpleasant symptoms? I agree on the gas, so not fun! Also, my nipples are weird looking and freaking me out.

Names that you love and your SO vetoed? Well DH has tried to veto Max for a boy (after my late grandfather) but I am not letting go so easily. He veto'd every girl name so far (Lily, Ava, Leigh, and a few others). We're in for a battle...I'm a stubborn taurus and DH is an attorney (a litigator at that) - needless to say it should be interesting as we battle this out!

I taught for 3 years before changing careers so there are a LOT of names I've vetoed due to association with students I'd like to forget. DH vetoes based on associations as well... The one name I really liked for a boy or girl was Alex (Alexandra/Alexander). Wasn't my absolutely favorite for either boy or girl so it's not a big deal. I think we are on the same page for names right now - if we have a girl I'm about 75% sold on one!

Weight gain so far? I dunno, it was on the rise when I got pregnant (sigh), so I'm not sure what my baseline was. Will find out this Wednesday if I've gained any since. I don't understand how I could since I wasn't really eating anything for 2 months.

What do you think you're having? Hot dog or Hamburger? From the moment I found out about the BFP, I had a feeling I was team Hot Dog. At our NT scan, they were 95% sure we're team hot dog. We'll get confirmation at our anatomy scan in a few weeks!
Weight gain so far? 6lbs! Yikes!! I totally took advantage of the lack of morning sickness. My OB kept saying it'll come so I kept stuffing my face in preparation for it, but alas, it never came. Been taking it easy on eating so I've only gained about 2lbs in the past month or so.
What are you currently craving?Salads, especially caesar even though it's a big no-no. I totally snuck a few bites in last night though!
Unpleasant symptoms? Constipation and random itchiness around my boobs or on my belly! And facial acne that reminds me of my HS days - yikes!
