Oh man! I'm so behind!!! Hopefully, I caught up with everyone, but if not, I'm so sorry!!
@Mrs D: @redsmarties: Loving your bumps ladies!! It’s so exciting to see everyone starting to show!!
@Mrs Hedgehog: Nope! You got it right! I’m in Texas (North Dallas), but was born and raised in Oklahoma.
@.twist.: That’s amazing your co-worker was so sweet and generous!! Yay for baby stuff (and free is even better!)
@StrawberryBee: Sorry to hear your mom isn’t being very supportive! Hopefully, she’ll come around soon and realize what an exciting time this will be for her and for you! Will this be her first grandbaby?
@JamieLee: yay for a good appointment, and April does seem far, but each week seems to pass by rather quickly, so April will be here before you know it!
@delight: Welcome!!! We’re excited to have you join our thread!! And here we go with the grilled cheese again… Now I’m craving it, again! Haha! And my nails seems more brittle now than pre-pregnancy! I cut them the other day, and it keeps chipping here and there. Boo! As for gender, I just knew from the beginning we were having a boy, and at our NT scan, we’re team hot dog!! Our anatomy scan is next week so we’ll get confirmation/rebuttal then.
@lawbee11: Yay on being team hamburger! There are so many adorable girl outfits, and looks like you are on a good start already. Everything you’ve showed “us” has been super duper cute!!
@chanzi: Welcome, and your u/s picture looks like your baby is waving hello! So cute!
@Ocean girl: That’s so cool you’ll get to go through pregnancy together with your sister!!! You’ll get to swap stories and share milestones!
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@delight: I also have an anterior placenta so no movement here either. I can’t wait to start feeling the baby. Everyone else is too. They’re constantly inquiring if I feel him yet!

@lawbee - congratulations! That's a beautiful baby girl!
We just found out at our appointment that we are having a little boy! It is really funny, I had a really strong feeling from very early in the pregnancy that it is a boy. Not sure why, just a feeling --- and when we were getting the scan, the nurse asked if we had any preferences or feelings about the gender. I said I have always felt/thought it was a boy, and she immediately said "Well, you're right! It's 100% a little boy!!!" We were so excited we burst into happy tears! It's going to be very hard not to shop now!
@strawberrybee - I am so sorry your mom is treating you this way. Does she know that she's hurting you? I know it would be hard (I've dealt with this myself when we were planning our wedding), but maybe you should try mentioning it to her. She may not realize she's been pulling away. Tell her you need her now the most! And maybe just saying it will help her realize that it's important to you. Good luck! Hugs!!!

How was everyone's weekend?
I am so jealous of all the mama's finding out the gender...thats the only bad thing about being at the end of a month is you're the last to do things! We likely wont find out the gender until 20 weeks (April 11th) as that is when the next u/s is for me. I'll have the appointment set at my next appointment Mar 14th.
I was decently productive this weekend, although I did not make it to BBB because I had no one to go with me and was overwhelmed to go alone! I did make one freezer meal and plan to make the other tomorrow - so far the Maple Dijon Chicken was a big hit! Tomorrow night is beef taco soup!
I cannot believe it is March already! I have a feeling this month is going to FLY by, I have 2 work trips (Vegas Mar 17-20, Budapest, Hungary Mar 22-30) that will make the second half of the month cruise by. Just gotta get through these first 2 weeks!
We have our furniture picked out, now we are just waiting for a sale or double points to pull the trigger and order. I told DH we'll paint in April - he was fine with that! Daycare visits will be over the next 2 weeks once DH's trial is over with...big stuff!

Oh wow, I am super behind. Welcome to the new members, yaaay!!
@lawbee - hooray for little girls and such a cute little sailor dress!
To answer some quesitons:
@Mrs Hedgehog: I live in Manhattan
@StrawberryBee: I am close to my Mom and she does ask about the baby a lot, but she would never make the trip up here to come to an appt with me unless i begged her. I honestly wouldn't want her to either because I feel like it's something DH and I should do as a couple, just in case there is any bad news or something we want to keep to ourselves.
Regarding the insurance question - Surprisingly my insurance has covered everything 100% so far, including the NT scan. I paid a $25 copay at my first visit and the Dr.'s office said that is all I will pay the whole pregnancy, then I was mailed a check for $25 so apparently my insurance covers everything. (I'm assuming not the birth though). It's a shock to me since the fertility specialist was a $35 copay every visit, which got really old really fast - esp when I was coming in 3 times a week for morning monitoring.
grapefruit / 4187 posts
@.twist.: I have an appt on March 29th and April 5th!
@greenebee: Hooray for team hot dog!!!
@Mrs D: I hear you on being the last to do things, although the advantage is that we are sometimes more prepared since everyone else has gone through it first. This weekend, DH and I did some home improvement projects and went out to dinner on Sat. We haven't bought any baby gear or clothing yet, right now I"m still focused on maternity clothes since I work outside the home and have a hard enough time finding non-maternity clothes for myself!
My DH is waffling back and forth about finding out the gender. Our gender scan is April 5th adn I want to find out, but every other day DH changes his mind. It's a little annoying, but I have to respect his wishes if he wants to wait

@Ocean girl: That's awesome news about your sister being pregnant, too! That'll be so fun.

@Ocean girl: That is SO exciting!! One of my husbands best friend's wives is having a baby at the end of this month/early april. I'm hoping to make a bond with her so that our kids can be close!
@greenebee: Congrats on your little boy! That is SUPER exciting!!!!
@Mrs D: Man, your job sounds pretty cool. I know it's work, but it must be really interesting to go and see a lot of different places around the world!
Our weekend was busy. I met up with a few girlfriends for breakfast on Saturday, who I haven't seen in a long while. That was super fun and we laughed and giggled. One of my girlfriends gave me a bunch of baby stuff she didn't need any more which was also very awesome and generous of her. Sunday it snowed like crazy so I was taking care of the boys while my husband worked. It was a loooooong day.
Do any of you panic about the state of your baby? I did a bit of shovelling snow yesterday, heavy snow. Not a lot but enough to get my heart rate up and hot! I thought of it as a good workout, but now I'm freaking out that maybe I over did it and possibly hurt the baby!? haha. I know it's silly but I'm worried the snow was heavier than I thought it was. Then, last night I slept a lot on my back, or half on my back? Kind of laying on a pillow on one side, anyway, now that's got me freaked out too! Worrying just never stops!
grapefruit / 4187 posts
Oh yes, and I wanted to add that I also have a magically disappearing and reappearing baby bump! Some days my stomach will be so huge and others (like today) it will look totally flat. It's pretty strange to me even though I've heard this is normal. In my weekly bump photos, I actually look more pregnant in week 12 than I do in week 13 and 14, actually it looks like my bump disappears a little each week.
On another note, how much weight is everyone gaining? I am scared that I will gain too much. I never had any morning sickness and stopping alcohol was hard, so I compensated with sweets for a few weeks. I've only gained 3.5 lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight which I know is normal, but it almost seems like my metabolism has totally slowed down adn it's way easier for me to put on weight recently. My Dr. hasn't said anything is wrong, but I am wondering if I should be 'watching my weight' a little more to avoid gaining too much?

@Ocean girl: Congrats, that sounds like so much fun! I wish my SIL (who is a week and a half ahead of me in her pregnancy) lived closer to us. She really seems like the sort of person I'd get along with well, but I don't have many opportunities to interact with her.
@Modern Daisy: Oh, I don't expect her to go to our regular dr appointments, just acknowledge that they're happening. The only thing I was bummed she had no interest in going to was the elective gender scan, which is set up for having visitors/family there (they have a separate curtained area with chairs and a separate tv screen so that your family can watch what's going on without 'being' in the room with you).
@.twist.: Yes, I'm always worrying that I've overdone it! Had too much caffeine, too much sugar, helped my husband take a (very light) dresser up the stairs, lifted the vacuum, etc. etc.
I used the BRU 20% off coupon and a gift card my coworker gave me to get a baby book this weekend :3.

@Ocean girl: that is so awesome! My brother and SIl are expecting 7 weeks before us. I'm so excited for the little cousins to grow up together too. Neither of us are finding out until the final push but I kinda hope we have the same gender babies but it'll be fun either way!

@greenebee: Yay for another hot dog team member!!!
@Mrs D: Weekend was rough (for me). One of our employee's didn't show up on Saturday so I had to make donuts with my hubby, and I was in so much pain (back and shoulders). I didn't recall being in this much pain ever before! Boo!
Glad to hear you have quite a few audits lined up to help you speed through March! I'm ready for March to be over with because that means we'll be half way through our pregnancy!!! Yay!! I love being pregnant, but love progressing also and am looking forward to meeting our son!
@Mrs Hedgehog: I live in Plano!
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@.twist.: I'm always worrying about the baby's well-being!! Whether it be because I ate something or did more strenuous work then normal. Another reason I look forward to dr appts and hearing/seeing the baby. It gives me a peace of mind...
@Modern Daisy: I've gained 10lbs and I'm currently 17w, 3d. Yikes!! I was worried about having morning sickness so I stuffed my face the first trimester to anticipation of me not being able to eat for weeks to come. Fortunately, I never got morning sickness BUT all the pigging out did a number on the scale. Super sad face!!!
grapefruit / 4545 posts
@Modern Daisy: Well...my problem is I dont know what I weighed when I got PG. I know I was 7 or so lbs above my ideal weight which sucks for my PP weight loss plans. I am going on the assumption I was 152lbs-ish pre-pg which means I am up 8lbs or so now. But I gained those 8lbs quick (like weeks 6-10) and have been steady at my weight for 4 straight weeks. Which makes me feel good. I'd love to make it another 2 weeks before gaining anymore weight - because I know when I start traveling it will be hard to level off.
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
@Ocean girl: Oh, that's so awesome! Lucky! Our LO's only cousin lives 1600 km away.
@greenebee: Exciting! Congrats in your little boy!
@Modern Daisy: I think you are very much ok with 3.5 lbs only. I think 5lb in the first trimester is considered average?
grapefruit / 4187 posts
@Grace: Yes, I know I am in the normal range still, but I was more worried about how quickly it came on. It seemed like I gained nothing for the first 12 weeks then all of the sudden the scale started moving - quickly. It just worries me that if I keep up this pace then I'll be waaay too big by the time I'm done!
@Mrs D: I would also like to wait another week or two before packing on any more lbs. I mean of course I want to do what is best for the baby, but I also don't want to gain too quickly then be huge early on in the pregnancy when I don't need to be.
@Alivoo01: Yeah, I was pigging out too - since I coudln't have my nightly cocktail after work I would have ice cream instead and eat a bigger portion at dinner. I think overall I'm probably assuming the same amount of calories as before, maybe slightly more, but regardless I think something has happened with my metabolism. This is def real weight gain, not just baby weight since my butt has grown a full size already!! The baby doesn't need my butt to be bigger!!
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@Modern Daisy: hahaha! Girl, I feel ya!! I was holding steady on the scale for a few weeks towards the end of my 1st trimester, but when the second trimester started, my scale kept adding 1lb per week (which I think I read somewhere is normal??)!! And I was eating less bc my appetite wasn't as big so I kept thinking WTF is going on here!? I definitely want to stay below 30lbs for this pregnancy, but we'll see!
grapefruit / 4545 posts
@.twist.: My job definitely has its perks (I now get upgraded to first class all the time on domestic flights bc I flew so many damn miles last year) but it is hard to be away so frequently. I went to India for 3 weeks last year and it was just too much time away. Thankfully my bosses agreed we will cap all trips at 2 weeks going forward! I also have been very open about travel since I do want to see the world and I knew my time for international travel was running low. Last year I went to Shanghai, Amsterdam, Paris and India twice. Not too shabby - but lots of hours on planes! And I am a terrified flyer - so that means lots of alcohol and xanax to make it!
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
@Modern Daisy: But you've only got 2 weeks to go off of. Maybe those were weight gaining weeks and the next will be slower. Friends of mine are fond of saying that you're body will do what it has to do - just eat healthy.

Ladies!!! I called the place that we are going to get our elective gender scan through since next week marks 16 weeks. I was expecting them to schedule me for sometime next week or the week after which I was totally cool with. Waiting until 20 weeks just feels so impossible!!!
Well.... they caught me off guard and said, do you want to come in at 6:45 tonight?... huh? I am only 15 weeks tomorrow... Apparently they can tell at 15 weeks and if they have any problems I can go back for free anyway so....
I will know what we are having TONIGHT!!! (fingers crossed baby cooperates and doesn't decide they are too shy!)
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@Mrs Hedgehog: That's awesome, and exciting news they can squeeze you in TONIGHT!! Can't wait to see/hear/read if you're team hot dog or team hamburger!! I think we're up 2-to-2 right now?

@Mrs Hedgehog: OMG! That is so super exciting!!!!!!!! Can't wait to hear what kind of little bean you've got!
@Mrs D: Oh yea, I bet it's hard being away so often but yay for worldly experiences!!!

@Alivoo01: yep! Totally 2 for 2! @Mrs Hedgehog: is going to be the tie breaker!
pear / 1812 posts
@Modern Daisy: This is why I refuse to step on a scale at home... I had lost a bunch of weight my first tri due to MS and I suddenly have MUCH more of a tummy now. I am terrified to see all those lost lbs suddenly show back up in just 3 weeks! Also, I am so happy I am not the only one with the bump that likes to perform disappearing acts on a regular basis. Even a friend of mine noticed I looked pregnant one day and back to normal the next!
grapefruit / 4545 posts
Ok how did you all find these places that do elective gender scans? I want one now!!!
pineapple / 12802 posts
@Mrs D: Seriously, hey? I'm so totally jealous!
Is anyone else finding it hard to pick a name for boy or girl or BOTH?
I think we have girl names ok.
However, boy names have been a struggle. I found this website and it's actually helped a little, but only after a lot of patience and mixing their names with my own.
Baby Name Generator: http://www.babynamegenie.com/
Baby Middle Name Generator: http://www.babynamegenie.com/baby-middle-names/
pear / 1812 posts
@.twist.: I saw that! Fingers crossed for a hamburger but I am definitely feeling more like a hot dog. Gah! 3 1/2 more hours! I can't imagine having to wait days or weeks!
pear / 1812 posts
@.twist.: We had a girl name picked out before we even got married. Kaia Lynn. But for a boy? I keep joking it had better be a girl because if it is a boy he is so screwed on names!!! We are thinking maybe Avery Alan... not in love with it though.
pineapple / 12802 posts
@Mrs Hedgehog: haha yea, I keep telling DH that our son will be nameless!
pear / 1812 posts
@Mrs D: I googled "sonogram in DFW" or, my area. I found a TON of places and just looked for the cheapest.
pear / 1812 posts
@Alivoo01: Didn't you have an elective scan? Where did you get yours done? This one is in FtW. I am NOT looking forward to that traffic.
cherry / 233 posts
@delight: Sometimes I think I feel a flutter of baby movement, but then it's immediately followed right by clearly digestive bubbles, so I don't think I've felt anything yet.
@.twist: I think boys names are harder too, but we have pretty much decided on a boy name and are still not sure about a girl name! We have our top three names but our rankings are opposite, so right now we're going with our mutual second choice. I'm happy with it but DH still seems uncertain.
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@.twist.: We had a handful of girl names picked out pre-TTC, but boy names were a tough one! For a girl, I really liked Zoey. We also had London and Riley on our list. We're still brainstorming boy names.
@Mrs Hedgehog: I didn't do an elective scan. I found out my gender during my NT scan. And Ft. Worth?! Oh man... Hope you don't hit traffic because that would just be a nightmare!! At least GP is closer to there than where I'm at. I also do a facepalm when I have training in like Arlington or Ft.W because it's.so.farrrrrr. haha!
pear / 1812 posts
@Alivoo01: Yeah... we are kinda worried about that. We are meeting my parents at their house in Arlington first. Lucky for us they are right on the boarder of FTW. I am seriously considering leaving at 6 for the 6:45 appt... I just don't trust rush hour! Wait, you found out at your NT scan??? Isn't that usually at 12 weeks? How did they manage that! You couldn't tell at mine at all!
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@Mrs Hedgehog: Leaving at 6 might not be a bad idea. Just check out how traffic is flowing around that time and base your decision on that.
Yup! I was 13 weeks when I had my NT scan done. They looked at the direction the nub was pointing, and both the nurse and doctor said they were 95% sure it was a boy! The nurse did her own u/s first, then the doctor came in later and did her own u/s so they each gave us their own opinion. Our anatomy scan is next week, and I'm nervous that something has changed and baby boy is actually baby girl!
GOLD / watermelon / 14076 posts
@Mrs Hedgehog: Eeek can't wait to find out if you're carrying a hamburger or hot dog!! You're probably finding out right now!!
pomelo / 5326 posts
@greenebee: congrats on the little boy! Any name ideas yet?
@Mrs Hedgehog: So exciting about your scan! I hope baby flashes the goods!
@.twist.: I think it's natural to always be worrying a little. I just had Caesar salad for dinner and now I'm scared that I have harmed the LO. I still check the TP every time I go to the bathroom for blood. I hope that stops soon!
@Modern Daisy: I have not gained any weight yet, I am 4 lbs below my starting weight. I just wasn't feeling well at all and could barely eat anything. I was 10 pounds below but have started to put weight back on in the last couple of weeks. I had to see a dietician, doctor's orders, and she helped me out. I'm still a little worried I am falling too far behind. You totally sound like you are in the normal range for weight gain and likely don't have much to worry about! I can imagine its a little intimidating when you start gaining all your weight at once.
