As for me, I woke up to nausea and vomiting today after a whole week hiatus. I was not a happy camper. I did get up early and have my vitamin on an empty stomach and go back to bed. I think maybe that caused it. I hope it doesn't mean my nausea is coming back! My best friend had her anatomy scan today. She doesn't get to hear gender results for 2 days after her doctor goes over the pictures. However, she and I scoured the pictures and concluded hamburger. Haha it's funny how we think we are experts!
I haven't posted a picture in this thread yet so here I am. My bump seemed quite pronounced today. I'm actually only 16w5d but 17 weeks looked better.

@.twist.: Umm I worry about the baby constantly. Before each ultrasound I get so anxious about not hearing the heartbeat or something being wrong. And when I get round ligament pain I worry that I did something wrong!!
@Modern Daisy: I'm 16w3d and I have gained 3lbs. Some days I worry that it's not enough and others I worry I am going to step on the scale and I will have gained 5lbs in one week!
@Mrs D: Girl, get to googling!! Our elective scan was totally worth the money! Ours came with a DVD and we sent it to our parents and my MIL emailed me and said it brought tears to her eyes and she feels like she really knows the baby now...it was such a sweet email!
@.twist.: Part of the reason I am glad it's a girl is because we did not agree at all on boy names! Luckily we agree on girl names so it is making things much easier!

Wow, I'm so behind!
We went away for the weekend, to a water park resort with my family, and I spent the whole time in a bathing suit. I found myself constantly pushing my stomach out so that people didn't just think I was chunky haha. Totally panicked a few times about waterslides hurting baby, but I think I'll be okay.
Ten days until our anatomy scan - I'm so excited. Just counting down the days. Hubs says I can't shop until we know what it is, so I figure the credit card will get a workout next weekend.
No idea how much weight I've gained - I was up 4 pounds at my 15 week appointment, so we will see how things go when I go back at 20 weeks. I hope its not too much of a shock!

@.twist.: Oh boy do I panic! I was recently enjoying a nice hot shower and then thought "uh oh I'm not supposed to take hot baths or jacuzzis so maybe I shouldn't be taking a hot shower!!!" I tried rationalizing with myself that since my body wasn't submerged that it's probably ok, but that didn't stop me from worrying. lol. And yes I'm finding boy names to be wayyy harder than girls names. There are so many pretty and cutesy girl names that I love, but we're struggling on boy names for sure.

@Mrs Hedgehog: How exciting that you get to find out so soon! Hopefully you're little one isn't shy! Keep us posted!
My anatomy scan is tomorrow!!! So.Freaking.Excited!!

@skipper2010: I still have hot showers. It is the one thing I refuse to give up. I just try not to aim it on my belly!
I concur. Boy names are way harder. There are only a couple we agree on and I'm not entirely sold on either. There are many girl names we like!

Well, he said he is strongly leaning girl but not 100% so we go back on the 16th. This time we get a free 3D/4D though!

@delight: My prenatal vitamin makes me feel so sick, so I have started taking it before bed. It seems to work and I have been feeling MUCH better!!
@twist: I worry all the time about LO. My last pregnancy was twins so I felt movement and got a huge belly a lot faster, so it makes me worry that the baby isn't growing as it should be. I love going to my appointments just for the reassurance! Plus, I'm not allowed to do any *real* exercise this time around (BOO!), so that makes me constantly worried that I overdid it!
I'm totally jealous of all of you that already know the gender! Our anatomy scan is scheduled for March 15th so we should find out then!! YAY!
pomelo / 5326 posts
@andrea86: oh! I will try taking my pill tonight then. Great idea!
@Mrs Hedgehog: Sorry you didn't get to hear "for-certain" results but it'll be fun to see your LO again in a couple weeks.
GOLD / watermelon / 14076 posts
@skipper2010: Yay for finding out tomorrow! What time is your appointment??
@Mrs Hedgehog: Sorry he couldn't tell you with 100% certainty, but that's awesome that you'll get a free 3D/4D! And you'll get to see baby twice
nectarine / 2530 posts
@delight: boo for nausea :(. I hope it was just the vitamin; they make me queasy sometimes. You have such a cute bump!
@skipper2010: I've taken a hot shower pretty much every day. I'm just too cold not to. I figure as long as I'm not submerged and raising my core body temp it should be fine. Good luck at your scan!!
@Mrs Hedgehog: nice that you get a free scan out of it! Is it wrong that I'm considering getting a 3d/4d as well just to be absolutely sure? I just don't trust getting what I want so badly!
Ps: so jealous of all you people who have your girl names picked out!

I feel like I've missed so much! I've been drowning in work the past 2 weeks and I am running on empty... It should get better over the next week or so but I'm not at the end yet! Hope everyone is feeling great and I'll try to pop back in later to catch up on what's been going on with everyone!
Appointment went well yesterday- baby's heartbeat was at 150 Next appointment is April 5, and ultrasound on April 5 as well. (Still Team Grilled Cheese, though!)

@msmay: *hugs!* I know the feeling. Try to take it easy and I'm glad your appointment went well!

@skipper2010: Woohoo for your anatomy scan today - cant wait to hear the results!
@Mrs Hedgehog: Sorry you didn't get a definite result but hey you get another free US!
@msmay: So glad I am not the only one who has to wait until April to find out the gender.
As for names...I am pretty set on Max for a boy. This was my grandpa, who passed away two years ago, name and I adore it. DH is worried about the family drama aspect. (Some of you may have seen my other thread about this) DH has suggested Patrick, Bradley and Timothy as names he likes for a boy. I dont dislike any of those - they just dont come close to Max for me. As for the girl names - UGH! I have suggested probably 15 names and DH hated all of them. Finally on Friday I suggested Grace and DH said "ok maybe" - score. My mom and sisters and I all have "Lynn" for our middle name - I think Grace Lynn is BEAUTIFUL! and Gracie Lynn...come on too cute! So those are my name thoughts right now!
GOLD / watermelon / 14076 posts
@StrawberryBee: There was a LivingSocial deal last week for a 3D/4D package so I bought it! It includes a 30 min u/s, color prints and DVD. We're going to wait until I am 27-28 weeks to go so that baby has a little more fat on her. But I can't wait! I am an elective ultrasound addict apparently.
@Mrs D: Love all of your names (especially Max!). My middle name is Lynn, too So we have the same first and middle names!!
kiwi / 597 posts
@Mrs D: I will most definitely be on later to post the results! Counting down the hours! I really like your name choices by the way. Grace Lynn is so sweet! If it's a boy and your DH isn't sold on Max maybe you could use it as a middle name. Names are so tough! We still haven't decided, but finding out the sex will at least help us focus in on one gender.
@msmay: Glad your appointment went well! 1 month until you get to see your baby on the big screen!
PS i'm so glad I'm not the only one who still takes hot showers!

@delight: Love your bump!
@skipper2010: @delight: My OB okay-ed hot showers! Woohoo!!
@Mrs Hedgehog: Boo on not knowing 100%, but at least you'll get another sneak peak at the baby next week! And you have more confirmation now then 0 right?? Trying to be optimistic - ha! How was traffic last night?
@msmay: Sorry you're having a rough time at work! Hopefully, it'll ease up on you soon.

@Mrs Hedgehog: Almost congrats on your little girl!
@delight: That looks like a bump! I'm definitely ready for a real one that doesn't look like chub.
@msmay: Yea fellow cheeser! Stay strong!
@twist.: I'm finding boy names to be so hard. Right now, I'm kinda liking Elliot, but i have to work on hubs. Our girl name for now is Paige Izabella (Izabella for my cousin who passed, NOT the Twilight girl, lol).
@Mrs D: hey - it's better than an outright veto, which is what I got for Grace. Just wear him down!!!

What position have you ladies been falling asleep with? And is it the same as when you wake up? I fall asleep on my side, but I ultimately wake up on my back. Oops! I know I'm supposed to stay on my side, but can't! Anyone else struggling to not sleep on their back?
grapefruit / 4545 posts
@Alivoo01: I am struggling in general. I have always been a stomach sleeper - ugh! Now I am falling asleep on my sides but yes I too wake up on my back. A body pillow is in my near future!
@lawbee11: Its a great middle name!
pineapple / 12802 posts
@delight: Ah! Cute belly!! I totally cannot take my prenatals without food. If I do I end up sick! So I always take it after a substantial meal.
@lawbee11: I just KNOW it will be a boy because we're struggling with names. hahaha.
@redsmarties: I am counting down the days too!!!! So excited to find out. I push out my stomach in regular clothes!
@skipper2010: I figured that showers would be pretty safe because you're not submerging yourself so your body temp isn't changing drastically?? haha This morning I let the water all hit my belly and said "haha! This is for all the kicks I'm going to get in the near future!".... because I'm a weirdo! So excited to hear about your u/s results!!!
@Mrs Hedgehog: Eeeeep! Girl! I will hold all major freak outs for the 16th! lol. Do you want me to update the list with girl now? or wait until they're 100% sure? I'm so excited for you!
@msmay: Ah, that sucks that work has been so busy for you! Glad your appointment went well though, that's always a good feeling.
@Mrs D: I love Grace Lynn, so pretty. My dad's name is Timothy so I like that one. hah!
@Grace: I love the name Paige and am actually going to try and convince DH to use it as a middle name for one of our first name picks! I also love Izabella but didn't use it because of twilight!! haha
@Alivoo01: Ugh, this has been hard for me too. I've been trying to sleep on my sides, but it doesn't always work. I've got a body pillow and have actually been putting it under one side (like, laying mostly on it with my right side) so it's like I'm on my back but my spine isn't pressing on the mattress?? Does that makes sense? Anyway, It's been ok and it kinda gives that "on your back" feel but I don't feel like I could be hurting the baby! I'm not sure if that's exactly how that works but it's really comfortable so that how I am going to sleep!
clementine / 930 posts
We're having more trouble with girl names actually. I'm leaning towards Violet or Harper, with Cynthia as a middle name for my mom. For boys, I like Finn, Sawyer, or Grayson. Grayson is my dad's middle name. Hubby likes Isabel for a girl and Hunter for a boy, so who knows what we'll end up with!
I've been having a lot of trouble sleeping. I have a body pillow and try to sleep on my side, but I've always been a stomach sleeper. My doctor said sleeping on your back is fine at this point, it's more third trimester when that becomes a problem, but that doesn't help me as I've never been a back sleeper. I try to kind of drape one half of my body over the body pillow so it's almost like I'm sleeping on my stomach, but it doesn't always work...
pineapple / 12802 posts
@JamieLee: I've done the draping over the body pillow like stomach sleeping too. I'm naturally a stomach sleeper so I find that helps. Sometimes I fold the body pillow and prop it up... that way I can still sorta sleep on my stomach while my belly sits in the empty space where the pillows propped up and the mattress...
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@JamieLee: @.twist.: @Mrs D: I love how we're all natural stomach sleepers! Ha! Did y'all sleep on your tummies as babies or was this just something you did eventually? I was a tummy sleeper as a baby (before tummy sleeping became a no-no), so that's how I've always slept growing up. I also feel like I sleep better that way!
pineapple / 12802 posts
@Alivoo01: I'm not totally sure about as an infant, but (get ready for a huge no-no of today!) when I was a young child I use to sleep on my stomach and to get me to sleep my dad use to use a q-tip and gently twirl it in my ear. It made me fall asleep faster than anaesthesia! LOL. I still have a very weird love of q-tips....
grapefruit / 4545 posts
@Alivoo01: I was definitely a tummy sleeper as an infant...I think I will encourage my child to be as well because I think all the tummy time helps develop their core muscles...
Side Note: I just heard back from one of two daycares we'll be visiting and the cost is $257 per week, plus I get 10% off for a full week enrollment and 10% off b/c the company I work for has an arrangement. So about $200 per week - this is SO awesome since I was prepared for $300/week!

Hey Ladies, does anyone want a 15% off coupon code to Land of Nod? I got one in the mail yesterday and I would use it myself, but it expires April 1st which is just not going to work for me. I am sooo not ready to buy any baby related items yet and definitely won't be by then.
I will write the code on your wall if you want it, unfortunatley I can only give it to one person.
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@.twist.: Asian have this metal (and they make wooden ones too) ear scratcher that's kind of like a qtip, but it scrapes out the ear wax and omg!! having my mom clean out my ear with that thing on a weekly basis was like heaven so I can totally relate to your qtip bliss. haha!
@Mrs D: That's an awesome deal on daycare!!!
pomelo / 5326 posts
@Alivoo01: I have always been a side sleeper and I always cuddle up with a pillow. The last few nights I've woken up on my back though with my hand on my tummy. Weird.
@Mrs D: How long do you get to take off work with your LO? You are contacting day cares early! Is it hard to get space in your area? I was contemplating calling the one around the corner from me soon to try and get on the waiting list. $200 a week seems like a great price!!
@msmay: sorry work is so rough! Congrats on a beautiful heart beat. I'm so happy to see a few of us Grilled Cheese lovers over here. On some boards I've looked at it seemed everyone found out!
@andrea86: thanks lady for that vitamin tip! Took it last night and woke up feeling great today. Wahoo!
@JamieLee: you have such cool names! I like Ava or Ella for girl and Zachary or Jeremy for a boy. I guess I need my DH's opinion too though right?
Hope everyone is having a good day. There is something about waking up to sunshine that always makes me happy. That and the fact I was done work early so now I can have a mid-afternoon nap!
nectarine / 2530 posts
@lawbee11: ooh, good point! I should start watching Groupon and Living Social a little bit closer. It would be $90 (10% off because I'm a repeat customer) at the place I went to to have a quick 20 minute 3d/4d done, which I don't think is bad.
@Alivoo01: Whew, your OB okay'ing hot showers makes me feel better :). I was so cold the first trimester that there was just no way I was doing anything less than hot.
I have to say, I haven't had any breakouts since becoming pregnant. Usually hot showers + dry winter air gives me some pimples.
@Alivoo01: I do a kind of modified side/stomach position when I sleep. I'm on my side but my top leg is draped over the bottom one and touching the bed. I know that getting a pillow would help with that, since I basically just want the support of something to push my leg against.
@JamieLee: I like the name Harper (but unfortunately it doesn't work with our last name. Can't remember if you're in the facebook group or not, but if you are you'll be able to see why ;)). I also really like the name Grayson.
@Mrs D: Super deal on daycare!! Infant care here is $1200 for fulltime :/.
@delight: You'll never believe this, but my name has always been Jeremy for a boy (Jeremy Robert actually, middle name after my grandfather) and I've always liked Ella for a girl!
Here we have to start daycares early as well; they're already advertising enrollment for fall (and I was told a few months back when I called that fall tends to be their busier time).
pomelo / 5326 posts
@StrawberryBee: great August mamas think alike! I can't wait to see in the end what everyone names their LOs!
grapefruit / 4545 posts
@delight: I will be taking 12 weeks off work - I guess around here they just start filling up faster. The one I spoke to said they still have "some space" open for Nov/Dec starts - so I am not going to wait any longer and risk being waitlisted!
blogger / honeydew / 7081 posts
I lucked out and got a Snoogle body pillow for Christmas, and I'm finding that it REALLY helps keep me on my side. I'm usually a stomach sleeper, so I've found that switching has been a problem. My pillow helps.
As far as names go, we are pretty much sold on Samuel. During our battle with fertility problems, I took a lot of comfort in the verse 1 Samuel 1:27 "For this child I prayed, and God heard my prayer." After decades of prayers, God finally granted Hannah a child (named Samuel). And I think that Sam is super cute.
For a girl, our favourite at the moment is Piper. I'm sure this will change if we find out that we're having a girl, but that's what we like right now. (I'm convinced we're having a boy!)
Has anyone else been dealing with wicked dry skin? I am covered in huge patches of eczema, and my skin is so dry that it is painful, all the time. I've never dealt with this before - any suggestions?
kiwi / 637 posts
@redsmarties: yes! Such dry skin! And ITCHY! Oh my!! I actually bit the bullet and bough gold bond cream for extra dry skin. It helps for sure.
Had my check up today and got to hear LO's heartbeat for the first time!! It took a while for my doc to find it and I was starting to get a little panicky, but he found it!! 160 bpm can't wait for my next ultrasound in 3-4 weeks!
Hope everyone is doing well!
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
@Alivoo01: I wake up in all sorts of different positions. FWIW, my friend's dr told her not to worry about sleeping on your back. That you will wake up by having circulation cut off long before you hurt the baby.
@redsmarties: Aww, that reasoning for Samuel totally made me teary. It's on our list too. My skin is awfully dry. There is this stuff called Oliatum. You get it behind the counter at the pharmacy and it's amazing. My sister used it at the recommendation of nurses when she had cancer. It's good stuff, but sometimes hard to find.
@Ocean girl: Still having trouble finding it? Your LO must be busy in there! I hope to finally hear the heartbeat tommorow.
@skipper2010: Congrats on your little boy!
clementine / 930 posts
@redsmarties: I love the name and what a wonderful story behind the name!
Also, I've had eczema most of my life but with winter and pregnancy, it's really bad. I meant to ask my doctor what my options were but I forgot. I've used prescription steroidal ointment in the past but don't know if that's ok for baby. I've just been trying to keep reapplying moisturizer through the day. Unscented is best. Also, really hot showers are really REALLY bad for dry skin/eczema, not that I tend to follow that advice...if I decide to call my doc, I'll let you know what she says.

@redsmarties: I love the name and the meaning of it is so special!
I know this is probably a little early, but has anybody decided on a diaper bag? I ordered the Danzo Hobo (sight unseen) because a lot of people recommended it and it was on sale. Well it got here and I don't like it. It's HUGE, even for me and I like big bags. Now I have no idea what to get. Ahh I thought I at least had something crossed off my list!
