@redsmarties: I've started swelling by the end of the day. It's not that bad yet, but shoes are tight when I come home and I don't like to sleep in my rings anymore. I'd like to think this is the worst it will get but I think that is wishful thinking. Laying with my feet up for 20 minutes helps, as does tons of water.

@Grace: Baby kick, so exciting! I think that is one of the best feelings in the whole world. I literally lay down with my hand on my belly forever, just waiting for a kick.

@.twist.: my dog always followed me around, but my cats have gotten extra weird. Both of them have decided their new favorite place to curl up in on my belly. My dog also likes to rest his head there (good pillow?) and sometimes the baby starts to kick at it. Cracks me up.

I'm taking a trip to Florida for my grandparent's 50th wedding anniversary party this weekend, which meant I had to find a bathing suit that would work. That was an...interesting experience. Hope they're all ready for this belly.

I'm so impressed by all of you that have gear ready. I have only gotten together a few cute clothes, and most are big sizes because I figured people would mostly give me small things. Although my husband's dad and step-mom just bought us our stroller. It should come this week, and I'm really excited to have SOMETHING at least. It's hard to wait until after the baby shower!

@.twist.: My dog has been laying with his head on my lap a lot more lately. He usually just curls up at one end of the couch, but he's been snuggling lately. The cat, however, I don't even think notices the people who live in her house. She's only 7 months old and she's wild, always running from room to room and leaping onto windowsills, then crashing on the couch for hours. She's a strange animal...

@JamieLee: Ugh, that is so annoying about the people living in your basement. I would have gone all crazy preggo lady on them, too.

@Mrs D: That's an awesome price for newborn photos! And 15 minutes from home for daycare isn't bad at all! You were productive!

@Grace: Aren't baby kicks the best?!

@.twist.: Love your carseat!! Before you know it there will be a little baby in there

@StrawberryBee: I almost had a tutu breakdown last night, but all is right with the world again. I added a specific tutu and headband set to my Etsy favorites before we even started TTC (yes, I am crazy) because I was so obsessed with it. I went to the shop to order it last night and it was nowhere to be found! Cue me freaking out. I contacted the store owner and basically begged her to make me one. She said she's about to have a baby and just removed it because she's on maternity leave, but that I could pre-order it and she should be able to have it to me by late June/early July. Phew! Crisis averted!!

I have my appointment in about an hour and a half. I am not expecting anything too exciting to happen, but I'll let y'all know how it goes!

@lawbee11: oh, I know EXACTLY which seller you mean! I did the same thing (I was in love with her peaches and cream tutu), had it bookmarked, and all of a sudden it wasn't available and I found the tiny blurb on her shop about stopping all tutu purchases because of the baby. Glad you were able to work it out!

    @.twist.: Yay for carseat setup!

So I got the cutest little onesie from Baby Gap yesterday in the mail (red with little embroidery and hearts, and heart butons <3). It's 3-6 months and so SMALL! I mean, much smaller I think than my other 3-6 month stuff (I have yet to do a comparison). Then on Pinterest I happened across an article that suggested putting baby clothes in the closet by length, not by the sizing on the hang tag, which I think is a great idea.

    So, FYI!

@ALIVOO01: I would say you just might need to take it out of the box and possibly take pictures just to make sure it will be as photogenic as your little guy!

@redsmarties: cuuuuuuuuuuuute. so freaking cute. I die.

Awesome about the pets ladies, it's so bizarre to see their behaviour change because of the changes to our bodies. I lurve furbabies.

@redsmarties: OMG. Those are just the cutest!!

My appointment went well. HB was 150bpm and my weight is definitely on the rise (seeing the number on the scale is always my least favorite part). I go back for my GD test on May 8, and I have my next OB appt/will get the detailed results of my GD test a week later on May 15!

So, I just saw baby kick from the OUTSIDE. My whole stomach moved - it was VERY weird. But exciting!! 24 weeks tomorrow - she's the size of a cantaloupe!

Hi everyone! I went away for a few days and fell behind, which then led to getting more and more behind, so I've just read the past week of posts (though I've missed like the last month).

I had my anatomy scan on April 1st and we didn't find out what we're having (well, pretty sure it's a baby), so I'm officially a member of team grilled cheese! So far most people have been excited about us waiting to find out, which I hadn't really expected. I think they'd be more annoyed if we had gone with my original plan of finding out but not telling. Poor DH would still prefer to find out but he didn't want to know and try to keep it a secret from me.

@lawbee11: My shower is in May--the 19th, I think? It's out of state, hosted by my MIL. I'm excited that my mom is going to be there too though! It's scheduled for a time that she'll be visiting me and we'll travel together to the shower.

I haven't started buying baby clothes since I'm waiting until after the shower. I'm planning on thrift store/consignment/outlet shopping with my mom after the shower, and just buying gender neutral.

We haven't made a circumcision decision yet either. DH would prefer to, I would prefer not to… I'll probably defer to him on this one unless my opinion gets a lot stronger after more research. He likes to remind me that if we had found out that the baby is a girl, we wouldn't need to think about it!

Last weekend I finally went to a prenatal yoga class. I have also purchased a maternity swimsuit and plan to start going to the pool twice a week. Ugh, I am the worst at exercise but I'm trying to make an effort… Except I should have gone swimming this week and didn't. Do good intentions count?

Yesterday I told my (college) students that I'm pregnant. I think many of them were surprised, but one girl was nodding like crazy when I mentioned they might have noticed… LOL. I'm 22 weeks and badly in need of some maternity jeans!

  14. Alivoo01

    wonderful olive / 19353 posts

    @.twist.: Good point! haha!

@lawbee11: Yay for a good appointment! May will be here before we know it and we're all taking our glucose screening which means we'll be about 10-12 weeks away from DUE DATE!!! OH MY GAH!!!!

@JamieLee: Oh my goodness! Those Sperry's are way too darn cute!! Totally sending it to the hubby. I love my Sperry's!

@redsmarties: Hubby isn't a fan of TOMS, but is totally in love with their kids TOMS so we bought 3 pairs during the Zulily sale. Unfortunately, we bought all the wrong sizes. D'oh!!

I haven't seen any movements on the outside yet, but I like to take EXTREMELY hot showers so when the belly is facing the water, baby boy will move to one side and totally pushes my belly into a pyramid shape. Not sure if he's trying to avoid the heat or is enjoying it, but I always end my showers "playing" with him. haha!

@chanzi: Congrats on your baby girl!! I'm amazed that you're just now thinking about getting maternity jeans. I think I was in them full time around 14 weeks. Are you rocking the bella band instead?

  15. chanzi

    cherry / 233 posts

@ALIVOO01: Wait, what? Dang it I meant grilled cheese! Editing post now...

Whew. LOL, hamburger, grilled cheese, cheeseburger... Oops! We are guessing it's a girl though. As DH said, he didn't see any evidence that it was a boy (though the tech was good about telling us when we shouldn't look).

  16. chanzi

    cherry / 233 posts

@ALIVOO01: No Bella Band but I wish I had one! I stopped wearing my normal, tighter jeans a while ago but have been able to keep wearing some older, looser ones instead. I've got a few I can still wear with a hair tie and one I can still button. Those ones sit super low on my hips and beneath the belly, but they're getting tight now too! I wish I had bought a Bella Band early on so I could have kept on wearing my nicer jeans instead. At this point I'm not sure if it's worth it though...

I'm desperately waiting for the weather to get warmer so I can live in dresses and leggings. Plus my winter coat is getting tight and I am definitely not buying a new coat! Of course now it's raining a lot and my raincoat is even more fitted than my regular coat, so I haven't even tried to put it on... I'll stick to an umbrella. I do really need some longer cardigans though since I basically live in cardigans. They now look totally stupid when buttoned up, and cropped pretty short even when unbuttoned.

The worst was trying to figure out what to wear to a conference for work. I was packing on my 30th birthday and I had to try on all these clothes that didn't fit and made me look more fat than pregnant. Great birthday! Thank goodness it was only a two-day conference because I don't know what I would have worn for a whole week.

    @JamieLee: those shoes are PRECIOUS!

@chanzi: Ohh! Yay for Grilled Cheese! I'm sure the other grilled cheese ladies will be thrilled to have you join the unknown! Also, intentions totally count. I've been "intending" to work out on the regular, however that hasn't turned out very well. So, in my opinion, the intention totally counts. I have a prenatal yoga class super close to my house, I should drop in one night. I'm kind of scared to take classes alone, is that weird? should I get over it? I love yoga. haha. If you can stay in regular pants for longer DO IT. One of my girlfriends didn't start wearing mat pants until 25 weeks! I've been mixing and matching. Some days I wear mat, other days I rock the bella band.

OOOOh, and in other news, last night I had by far some of the most bizarre dreams of my pregnancy. I had one dream where we gave one of our friends a placenta capsule (we're not doing this! LOL) and he loved it so much he started making his own.... somehow...
Then, I had another dream that I was going into preterm labour and could feel the baby's head, with my fingers... eeeeek....

Eeek I love the little tutus! So cute! One of the girls in the April thread posted a newborn tutu photo. Awwwwww.

Looks like I'm next up for appointments, as I have one tomorrow. Hoping I didn't put on 11 pounds in one month like last time. Yikes. I hit a number on the scale this week that scared the bajeebers out of me. I'm feeling really good lately but am starting to get nervous about giving birth and actually having a baby around. So it's official! We are having a girl! It was my gut feeling, so I wasn't super surprised. My husband thought it was a boy--so he needed a few days to process. It's so weird that "gender disappointment" is an actual emotion. Crazy. Anyway, now he's really happy and announced to the whole subway last night that his "wife was pregnant with a baby girl"! He had a few beers at a baseball game...Also, this boston stuff is crazy right now! Anyone in the area...be safe...

Ugh, just had a (female) coworker ask if I was having twins and comment on how huge I am! What's funny is she is obese herself, so I could have countered with - "Well my BMI is still lower than yours and my Dr says I'm perfectly healthy - I bet you can't say the same!" But that would be rude and awkward since we work together so I just made fun of her for asking me that so she would at least know it was annoying and inappropriate.

I work with kids (10 year old twins) and one of them kept telling me I was SO fat, even though he knew I was pregnant. I had to tell him that's not ok, I'm not fat I'm pregnant, and despite that it's never ok to tell anyone they are so fat. Geez.

Even worse, when one of my FRIENDS found out I was pregnant sent me a letter that said "I can't wait until you get fat!". She's made other comments since and I REALLY wanted to tell her "I'm four months pregnant and I still weigh less than you!". My doc appointment went fine today. I've graduated to OB status, so doc is pitting in my referral today. I only gained 3 pounds this month which is better than the 11 last month! My doctor pointed out the hard spots you can feel are the head or bum of baby if you press down. I've noticed feeling that a few times, so cool!

My BF met me at babies r us today to start our registries. However, we were told there that when you start your registry you have to add 100 items that day. What the?! I'm not ever going to have that many items. So we just walked around and looked at stuff and now I'm going to register online so I don't have to add 100 things. What a scam!!
