@Alivoo01: @.twist.: time goes by way to fast!!! before we know it, it'll be august! if we do pick 8/1 for the date, that means i have just under 14 weeks left....OH.MY.GOD!

@sarbear: OMG. when you say it that way it makes it even scarier!!!!
@delight: haha yes!

@delight: Oh! Thanks for the tip! Totally going over to their site and signing up. I'm all about free stuff too shoo!
@sarbear: 14 weeks?!?!?! (O_O) I can almost count that on my hands - OMG!!!!!

@JamieLee: Glad all is well with you and baby! That must've been scary, but it's good you got checked out. Better safe than sorry!
@delight: Ohhh I'm not so sure I would have liked the orange drink! Mine was lemon lime. Hope we both pass! ETA: I was super tired after my glucose test too. In fact first thing I did when I got home was take a power nap!

@JamieLee: yikes that must have been scary for you! I'm glad everything is ok and the rest of your pregnancy is uneventful!
pineapple / 12802 posts
@skipper2010: how long does it take until you find out if you pass? I have no idea how this works. Why do they only test between 24 - 28? Can't you become diabetic before then? or not? If you haven't had any signs so far, why does it even matter? aaaaah... I should read about this stuff... lol

@StrawberryBee: Is your 3D ultrasound tomorrow? Can't wait to hear how it goes!!
@greenebee: Glad your appointment went well! That's crazy that they moved your EDD up a whole week!
@delight: Glad you got the OB you wanted! I read the same thing this morning about the soccer ball. My DH loves soccer, so he thought that was pretty cool And that BRU goody bag is wayyyy better than the one I got!! I
@Grace: Haha!! I love that pic!!
@JamieLee: Yikes! That is scary! Glad everything is alright and that baby is doing well!
@.twist.: You can be diagnosed with GD before 24 weeks if something comes up in your bloodwork or urine samples. I don't know why the standard is 24-28 weeks, though. Also, I think a lot of women with GD don't have any symptoms at all, which is pretty scary!
pineapple / 12802 posts
@lawbee11: thanks! I didn't realize you could have it without symptoms! I've been a little worried because my mom was borderline diabetic while pregnant with me. Don't know if it's hereditary or not but it's had me worried. Which is why I should really just read up on it! lol.

I am getting so bad at replying, why is it so hard!!?
@sarbear: OMG 14 weeks? Wow that puts it into major perspective!!
@skipper2010: He isn't saying too much, if they become more regular or I get more than the few I'm having daily then I need to come in to have an internal and make sure I'm not progressing. I have the same OB as I did with my last pregnancy so he knows my history. I had my labor stopped with magnesium sulfate at 28 weeks last time. I told him I'm laying low and not saying much yet, I don't want a repeat and he shook his finger at me. They seem to only happen at night in bed, so I'm not in pain during the day! No bedrest!
@Grace: No bedrest, thankfully! I would be happy with a "normal" pregnancy, but I have to have an irritable uterus, lol.
@JamieLee: Yes I'm happy to have the extra monitoring! That must’ve been so scary, I’m so glad everything turned out ok. I have noticed an extra “damp” feeling too
@.twist.: I was joking with my hubby that maybe the third time will be the charm and I'll go into labor on my own (and on time and progress) but he doubts it I'll probably be induced after my due date again, lol
@delight: OOhhh I don't recall getting all of that when we registered with our LO, just samples. You did good
I remember being very tired and icky feeling after drinking the glucola last time, I think it's a system overload on sugar. Hope it goes away!
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
@JamieLee: That sounds scary! Especially having to go by yourself. I'm glad everything is ok!
@.twist.: Isn't it nice when lunch is made for you? It makes me feel special and spoiled. I mean, my mom stopped doing that for me by grade 7.
@Sapphiresun: Huh. Maybe you do have just got a big baby in there? How big were you and hubby when you were born?
@delight: I'm so happy you got your goodie bag! I'm glad they weren't able to scam you out of one. Also, totally signing up with J & J. I hadn't heard about that one.

ugh, sorry for the delay, work has been killer lately.
@redsmarties: @Alivoo01: @.twist.: @lawbee11: @delight: @Mrs D: @Grace: Thanks on your liking of the paper poofs!! I bought them, just had to fluff them out.
@Alivoo01: Hoping for good news on your uncle.
@skipper2010: my glucose test is scheduled for next Wednesday. And I am not liking your reports of being tired afterwards, because I have some crappy 6 hour training to attend at work that doesn't apply to what I do. Blah!
@JamieLee: you poor thing, glad to hear everything was okay! *hugs* and @.twist.: thank goodness I'm not the only one with leakage!
@delight: aww, no fair, you got way more swag than I did!
@lawbee11: It is, and I can't WAIT! squee!
We set up the crib and mattress! I want to put up the poofs and the Dumbledore quote and maybe I'll take some pics of the nursery coming together :).
Also: If the screen color is accurate, I think I may have found my glider chair:

clementine / 930 posts
@StrawberryBee: I saw that exact glider at BRU and the color is pretty accurate on my screen. It was super comfy too! That's the style we want too, but ivory would never survive in our house. I picked out a light grey velvet that I'm bugging DH to order.

@StrawberryBee: Yay! What time is the u/s?? Ours isn't for 3 more weeks...I can't wait!!
nectarine / 2530 posts
@JamieLee: I was hoping it would link to the sage color :D. Agreed that ivory would become a mess quickly!
@lawbee11: noon est!

@delight: Oh, I'm sorry you don't feel well. I don't want to worry you, but I felt like crap all day yesterday after my test too... and I "failed" it. So hopefully you get better results.
nectarine / 2220 posts
@.twist.: I tested yesterday and my dr called today to advise that my results "meet the biochemical criteria for
Gestational Diabetes Mellitus". I went online to look at the specifics, and a fasting blood sugar of <5.1 is the cut off, and I was 5.1 on the nose, fine at the 1 hr mark, and then .3 over at the 2 hour mark.
@Grace: I was a pretty small baby by most standards I think (6lbs 8oz, 17 inches long) and I'm not sure how big my husband was, but not overly large I don't think?
clementine / 930 posts
@StrawberryBee: ahh, the sage color seems much more practical. I didn't see that color however, so I can't speak to the color accuracy.
nectarine / 2530 posts
@JamieLee: I figure that worse comes to worst., I can always return it ^_^
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
@Sapphiresun: Boooo. I'm sorry you didn't pass. Does that mean you have to do the 3 hr one? Or was that the one you just did?
pomelo / 5326 posts
@Sapphiresun: oh shoot sorry you failed your glucose test I felt much better after drinking water and resting.
nectarine / 2220 posts
@Grace: I did the two hour fasting. I don't think we do the 1 hour screening here, and just go straight to the two hour which is considered fairly definitive I think. I've been referred to a diabetes clinic to attend a class on gestational diabetes and then I'm not sure where they go from there.
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
@Sapphiresun: I'm sorry. Although, I've followed a few girls on the boards with GD and it seems very manageable (although a PITA).

@JamieLee: Sorry for your scare - so glad all is well!
@sarbear: ok - I cant handle the 14 week talk - thats makes me SO overwhelmed!!!
@StrawberryBee: cant wait to see the progress!! I am going to try my hand at some poms with left over tissue I have in the basement!!!
I think instead of cleaning for nesting I bake...this morning I made blueberry crumb cake and lemon yogurt cake! I am planning strawberry cupcakes for tomorrow...apparently I am in a fruit kind of mood! Heading over to my dads for a long walk on the trail with my pupper this morning! Should be a good workout for the day!

@Mrs D: @StbHisMrs: @Alivoo01: @.twist.: I know right?! I said to my husband yesterday 'want to hear something really scary? The baby will be here in just under 14 weeks...' He was like 'well when you put it that way, that is too close! Haha

Back from our 3D ultrasound! Baby would NOT cooperate; this was my first experience with switching position, emptying bladder, etc. Really wish I had brought some OJ to drink (they gave me a chocolate granola square to eat in the hopes that she'd move ;)).
So first she had her arms in front of her face and wouldn't move them lol. Then she finally moved them and put her foot in front of her face! Apparently my placenta is still in front, which 'makes things challenging' but as long as it doesn't block the cervix we're fine.
So I did some exercises and she moved, but not enough. Emptied bladder and then the stinker was using the placenta as a nice comfy pillow for her head. We finally got some nice video/shots of her face. The tech said that she had very petite features (!). Then she put her arm back up, yawned, and we think fell asleep.

@Mrs D: Thanks!
Oh, and the tech thought she could see hair (which just blows my mind), but then when she went back to show it to us she couldn't find it again XD;;. (I was born with a head of hair, my brother wasn't, my sister was).
Asked my mom and she said I was born two weeks past my due date.

So I had a weird interaction with my MIL tonight (over text)... She had asked what we had been up to today so I told her that I worked on our registry this afternoon and found quite a few fun things.
Her response: "registry?"
This caught me off guard since her side of the family is having a shower for me this summer... I would have thought they'd like that I put a registry together; we don't live in the same province as this side of the family so the registry would allow them to shop online for the things we need/want, rather than guessing at purchases that we will have to transport back to our home (15 hrs drive) this summer.
Anyway - I could totally be misreading the message, but I can't help but think that she is judging me for creating a baby registry instead of letting people pick out whatever they want (which they will do regardless - they certainly did for our wedding). I probably shouldn't jump to conclusions from a one-word response? Right?
Okay, end crazy preggo lady rant!

@StrawberryBee: love the colours! And love your crib!! Do you mind sharing what make/model it is?? That is very similar to what I'm looking for!

@Ocean girl: thanks!! It's the delta Bentley s series from target. On sale for $50 off, but that ends tonight!
On your MIL situation that certainly seems like an odd response. I guess there are still people out there who don't believe in a registry?
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
@StrawberryBee: Heehee, we set up the glider from that series just today (except it's cherry finish).
@Ocean girl: I guess somewhat weird, but I think you are right in that you are probably putting too much importance on a one-word response.

@StrawberryBee: OMG she looks so precious in that first picture!! And I love the foot in front of the face Your nursery looks amazing, too! You're way ahead of me.
nectarine / 2530 posts
@Grace: ooh, I bet it's nice and comfy! I'm thinking of setting up the glider in our bedroom to start. I just can't see me walking her to the nursery every time she wants to feed.
@lawbee11: thanks!! I think I'm nesting lol. I bought some dreft yesterday and washed a bunch of baby sheets and blankets.
I wish she had been a little more cooperative during the u/s. Oh well, I'll just have to be patient ;D.
Approaching 5am and I just grabbed a spare pillow to put between my legs. I don't like how achey my hips are when I switch position during the night.

@.twist.: Sorry I just saw your question now! As far as why they test between 24-28 weeks....I have no clue! lol The only thing I know is I'll get my results Monday at my doctors appt. When are you having yours done?

@.twist.: Do you subscribe to Lucie's List weekly emails? I just got a really great one explaining GD. If you post your email address to my wall I will forward it to you!

@lawbee11: I do but I usually forget to read them until a week or so after they're sent!!! Haha
@skipper2010: I go may 12!
@StrawberryBee: aaah! Cute little bebe! I also love your nursery too, you are so ahead of the game!
@Ocean girl: yea, who knows what that response meant. I'd ignore it until she says anything further about it.
@Sapphiresun: boo to failing the gd test!
grapefruit / 4545 posts
@Sapphiresun: sorry for your results...I have a feeling I am headed your way too!
@StrawberryBee: LOVE the nursery update - the poms look amazing and the quote is adorable!!! Totally makes me want to run out and buy our linens as soon as the chair and changing table come!
@Ocean girl: Ugh...MIL's...sometimes I love them and sometimes I just want to scream! I had to ask mine to borrow some baby pictures of DH (which I promised to return within 24 hrs) at dinner. My MIL is borderline a hoarder so crazy protective of her belongings. You would have thought I asked to borrow her kidney...I wish they could just be easy to deal with all the time!!!
Peanut butter banana muffins in the oven right now. I'll let you guys know how the finished product is but the raw batter tasted pretty phenomenal: http://justshortofcrazy.com/2013/02/peanut-butter-banana-muffins/
Ribs, corn casserole, bean salad and strawberry cupcakes for dinner. I am seriously a cooking machine these days!!!

@Mrs D: Mmmmmmmm. Probably a good thing you live far away. I want to raid your kitchen!
nectarine / 2530 posts
@.twist.: @Mrs D: Thank you so much! I love decorating, so it's so exciting for me to be able to pull things together from the vision in my head.
"My MIL is borderline a hoarder..." yeah, I feel you on this, except it's more my DH's entire family (and him, though I won't let him here at our house). My mantra to him is you can't keep everything. It drives me crazy.
oh, and Yum! Can you please come cook for us? I still don't feel like doing much of anything in the kitchen.
