I'm pleased to report I passed my GD test! Got the test results today and the numbers are within range. So happy! I celebrated with a piece of chocolate cookie cake haha! And that may have been before 10am haha

@Modern Daisy: Ugh. Yeah, that's annoying.

@sarbear: OMG I want cookie cake so effing badly now! I'll find out my results at my appt this afternoon, so I may have to treat myself if I passed (and weep for hours if I failed).

@StrawberryBee: How far along were you when you had your 3D u/s? I have mine this Saturday--I'll be 27w1d.

@StrawberryBee: I hope we get some good pics! I read that 26-28 weeks is the best to have it done, but I just hope she's got some fat on her and doesn't still look like an alien!

Hey ladies, I have a question! Has anyone noticed that their boob(s) feel like they're falling asleep or getting the pins and needles sensation?? I feel it in my boobs when I lay down at night. Weirdest thing EVER.

@Modern Daisy: I'm with you on the delivery shock thing. I have a birthing book at home that a friend lent me and I've hidden it in the coffee table.

@sarbear: Congrats on passing! And good luck in house hunting!

@lawbee11: I would totally get excited if people were noticing. I don't know how they can't tell I'm pregnant, but no comments to me yet. I think people are scared of being "that person" that says something to a non-pregnant person.

@StrawberryBee: I read your post on dTap being category C and was in disbelief, so I went on a google search. Eek! There are some studies going on or just finished and they are monitoring adverse effects, so I'm going to look that up before/if I get the shot.

@Alivoo01: My health insurance covers a portion of my massages. Might be worth looking into. Also, if you look for the therapeutic massage places it might be cheaper than at the spas.

Cookie cake? What is this cookie cake? I'm intrigued.

@lawbee11: I'm sure you will! Bring some OJ with you so that you can make her shift position if needed :).

@Grace: I am really very pissed at my doctor that she didn't even mention the possibility to me. If I'd known that I didn't HAVE to get it now and could wait until week 36 then I would have done so to minimize the potential harmful impact. What's done is done, but this is just another mark on my score sheet against the medical community -- I Do Not trust doctors. I have never had a positive experience in my life. It seriously makes me want to go hide under a rock.

Bleh. Just got home from a midwife's appointment and my GD screen. No results yet ( few more days) on the screen, but I feel awful! So tired, and queasy! And baby's kicking up a storm. How did you ladies feel after?
Also, my fundal height is measuring 3 cm smaller than its supposed to - I'm measuring 25 cm and I'm supposed to be at 28cm. The midwife figures it was just because of baby's position today, but it has me a little panicky. Luckily, I go back in 3 weeks, so we'll get to measure again and see how things are going.

@.twist.: in have been feeling weird sensations lately, but I don't know if it is like what you describe. My arms and hands felt funny the other day. Tingly and almost like it was too much of an effort to pick up a pen and write anything at work.

@Alivoo01: my massage was $56 for 30mins and it was awesome. It's partially covered through benefits too. 100$ seems expensive, it must be an hour long. Even though mine was supposed to be 30 mins it was much closer to an hour. I'm going to go once a week. I didn't have any leg cramps last night so that's good! I saw on another board you start your prenatal classss tonight. Hope you enjoy, we don't start til June!

@lawbee11: hope the 3D goes great. I went with my SIL to hers and it was lots of fun. We aren't doing one because its kinda hard if you are Grilled Cheese! Don't want to catch a glimpse of something I'm not ready to see yet!

@redsmarties: I had a sugar hangover about an hour and half after I drank the drink. Slight headache and felt super groggy. The drink also made DS punch/kick the crap out of my cervix. Took me about 2-3 hours to get over the sugar rush.

I'm currently measuring 1cm smaller than I am week wise. My OB said +/- 3cm is totally normal. Anything outside that is when they'll start becoming a little more concerned.

I just got back from my appt...I failed the 1-hr test, so now I have to take the 3 hr test My doctor said it's really common to fail the 1hr and pass the 3hr, but I'm not sure if she was just trying to make me feel better. I'm taking the 3hr on Monday. I have no idea what I am going to do for 3 hours while I wait!

Other than that, everything with the baby looks good. Heartbeat was 150bpm, and my fundal height is 27cm, so I am measuring right on track. I also only gained 3lbs since my last appt a month ago, so I was happy with that! My next appt with the OB is on June 5.

@.twist.: No pins and needles sensations here, but I'm sure it's normal.

@redsmarties: I felt exhausted after my glucose screen! A nap was def in order that day! And baby boy was wild! haha

@lawbee11: I'm sorry that you didn't pass the 1 hour test. If it makes you feel better a friend of mine just went through this a couple weeks ago. She failed the 1 hour, but then passed the 4 hour test. Bring a book and make yourself comfy. Hopefully all goes well and you can treat yourself to something sweet.

Has anyone started childbirth classes yet? DH and I went to our first one and so far I really like it. I think it will be really beneficial for DH to see in advance what we have to go through and get used to all the terminology. He knows next to nothing about this stuff so it will be good for him. I'm getting excited that we're at this point already!

I think I'm finally recovering from the vaccine. Don't feel as queasy/achy!

@lawbee11: I saw your other post. It sounds like you're really close to the borderline, so I bet you'll be fine *hugs*. My coworker failed the 1 hr but passed the 3. Good to hear that everything else is on track!

@skipper2010: nope, not until June! I was hoping to do a cloth diaper class, but unfortunately all the sessions are on the weekends we have the kids.

@lawbee11: sorry about the 1 hour test, what a bummer. FX for the 3 hour!

@redsmarties: oh man I felt awful after mine! Sooooo tired and nauseous. It passed a few hours later so hopefully you're feeling better now!

@skipper2010: I'm glad you liked your class so far! Ours doesn't start for a few weeks. I'm looking forward to it, but I don't think my DH is. I'm sure it'll be worthwhile though.

@StrawberryBee: we went to a cloth diaper class last week. It was a lot of the same stuff I've read online, but it was really nice to be able to "play" with the different options. If you could just go into one of the stores that sell them and get some hands on time, you should at least get an idea of what's out there.

As for me, I have my appointment tomorrow. We're getting another ultrasound. My doctors' office has 3D capabilities, and they switch back and forth throughout the session so I'm excited to see how much he has changed since 20 weeks. The 3D at 20 weeks was a little alien like, so I think he will be more baby like this time.

I'll also have my GD test, which I'm super nervous about. I am very worried I'm going to fail. I'm also nervous about how baby will be doing. I worry he doesn't move enough...I hope it's just my usual paranoia...I've been working a lot which involves a lot of walking, standing, and some stairs so I worry that I've overdone it. Ugh...I keep thinking once he's here I won't be so worried, but then I realize that I'll worry even more! Just my personality combined with the usual mommy worry.

  20. Grace

    cantaloupe / 6730 posts

@StrawberryBee: I'm sorry. It sucks that we really have to double-check everything doctors say. If it helps, I looked up the adverse effects and most of them had nothing to do with problems with the baby. And the ones that were might well have been co-incidental (eg placenta abruption happened in one case).

@redsmarties: FWIW, I heard that fundal height is a terrible gauge of the baby's health and that's why many OBs don't do them. Just remember how much Kennedy is moving and kicking! That means she's doing well!

@lawbee11: Oh no! I bet you pass the 3-hr one though. If you have GD with your figure and perfect weight gain (from what I remember), then most would certainly be doomed!!

@skipper2010: Mine start Monday after next. I'm looking forward to it!

@JamieLee: I keep worrying that the baby isn't moving enough every few days. Drives me crazy and I keep imagining all sorts of horrible things. Can't wait until Baby is here and I can see with my eyes that everything is ok!

@sarbear: Whoo hoo! Glad nobody else is failing, it's a PITA.

@.twist.: Appt today went well. I'm not even going to get into listing my next one(s) since I had two last week, three this week and at least two so far next week... blech. I think I'm going to ask for a recliner with my name on it in the waiting room.

@redsmarties: I felt like crap literally all day after. Only better after dinner. But I failed... so I doubt that's normal. Weird that they think 28 is where you're supposed to be. I think I'm only a couple days behind you, and they measured me at 28cm today and thought that was measuring ahead.

@lawbee11: My lab had free wifi. If you have a small laptop, might be worth bringing it. Easy to waste 4 hours on the net.

@skipper2010: We tried to sign up for a class that went six weeks starting Tuesday next week, but it was full. So now we're in a 1 day class that's not until end of June.

Anybody else rh negative? I have to go in next week for the rhogam shot, and I'm curious what to expect.

Appt today - and baby's stomach looked normal and fully attached on the ultrasound. But I'm back to the high risk OB because I couldn't control my morning fasting blood sugars, so they put me on insulin, which means I need a weekly non-stress test, and likely will be induced before/at my due date to make sure baby doesn't get too big.

Annnnnd... I'm feeling totally guilty, because I'm feeling kind of over being pregnant.

  22. StrawberryBee

    nectarine / 2530 posts

@JamieLee: The CD class was more for my DH (though I would have enjoyed it as well!). I just think he needs to hear from someone other than me that this is something people do ;). That and he hasn't done any the research that I have on it, he's just going with the flow. I have a stash of 24 BG 4.0's and Freetimes which will hopefully work for us.

Good luck on your U/S today...I think you'll be amazed at the change in the 3D :).

And I worried about GD as well, since I'm not at an ideal weight and thought for sure that would be the fly in the ointment. It's hard to wait those days until the results are back in, but just hang in there! I also worried about lack of movement...I swear there were times when 24 hours would go by, and I'd drag out the fetal doppler 'just to check.' That was only a couple of weeks ago. She's been moving like crazy since Monday; I may have gotten my first cervix kick last night.

@Grace: Thank you, that does help! and from what I've heard, the worry just takes on a whole new level after they're here. We're in it for the long haul ;).

@Sapphiresun: Does having a negative blood type automatically mean that you're rh negative? My dr didn't mention anything to me about it, but I forgot to write down what my type is when they told me and when I asked my mother later, she thought it was negative.

Yay for a normal stomach! Boo for the insulin though. At least you know that you have a definite end date now. It's hard for me to prepare for things because July 31st is a quarter end for us at work and early August is when a ton of stuff gets done. I'm assuming that I won't be around for any of it (DD Aug 2nd).

And I felt so uncomfortable last night. Only got four hours sleep, kept on tossing and turning and feeling very pregnant all of a sudden. No position feels right any more, and the second I get comfortable she starts jabbing me. I wouldn't feel too guilty being over it!

  23. Grace

    cantaloupe / 6730 posts

@Sapphiresun: Um, if I was living at the doctor's office, I'd be pretty over pregnancy too. Don't feel bad - that's a lot of stress to deal with. I'm glad baby is doing good though! Although, I think I missed something. Was there a worry about the stomach?

  24. Alivoo01

    wonderful olive / 19353 posts

@lawbee11: You barely missed the passing mark so I’m sure you’ll pass the 3 hour one just fine. It’s probably just something minor your body was doing that day. Keep your phone charged or bring something you enjoy doing/reading!

@skipper2010: We had Part 1 of our 2-day prepared childbirth class last night. The first half was boring info as she read directly off the slides, but the second half was more interesting. I thought the hubby would be bored, but he seemed to enjoy it. It was informative when they actually started talking about labor, the process and progress of it. Part 2 is this Sunday, and concludes with a tour of the labor and delivery area.

@JamieLee: I totally get freaked out when baby boy hasn’t been moving much or hasn’t moved in a while. Even if it’s a single kick, I am much more reassured he’s okay. If I get too worked up about it, I go eat something or drink something to get him to move just to put my mind at ease. I’m sure it’s not the best way to go about it, but mama’s gotta know!!

@Sapphiresun: Glad to hear the baby is healthy and growing strong, but yuck for being put on insulin! LOL at your recliner with your name on it; that would be badass in an odd way. VIP status baby! Haha.

@StrawberryBee: I have random bouts where I get pregnancy insomnia, and it happens to last a week each time it occurs. It sucks! Lately, I’ve been okay in the sleep department. I toss and turn and wake up tired, but some weeks, I can’t find a comfortable position and sleep is pretty non-existent. Blah!

@Alivoo01: Never constant. Doesn't hurt. Just feels like my boobs have fallen asleep haha. It only ever happens right before bed when I lay down for the first time. It's the most bizarre thing!

@delight: haha if my boobs had to pick up a pen that's exactly how they'd feel! lololol.

@lawbee11: Boooo to failing the 1 hour. As everyone else said, I'm sure you'll pass the 3 hour one and then you can go have a big piece of cake. I haven't gotten my results back yet and I am not sure if they call or wait or what to tell you. I will keep eating cake until I hear otherwise. LOL.

@skipper2010: I'm sure it's normal too, just feels SO weird. We haven't even signed up for classes and I think at this point we won't. From what I've heard from friends, if DH already has two kids he's been through everything they teach, and I'm very experienced with infants so meh... My cousin is a L&D nurse so I'll just pick her brain!

@JamieLee: I always worry my little guy doesn't move enough! If I haven't felt him move around in a while I will go drink some cold water or eat some sugar and see if that helps. I've noticed that he definitely has growth spurts and he gets super quiet in there while going through a spurt. Then, a few days of not much movement and he goes crazy! rinse, repeat.

@Sapphiresun: haha I hear you. I'm kind of wondering if we should continue the appointment list?? Thoughts ladies? I know we are all going to be going for appointments very regularly from now on. I have zero problems keeping it up, but how does everyone else feel about it? These are pretty routine at this point.

Also, YAY for babies stomach looking perfect! Boo to insulin.

@StrawberryBee: I had a hormonal meltdown after getting home from work last night. On top of not sleeping well, I just felt like a giant whale and I totally started crying and said to DH "I don't even know why I'm crying! This is stupid! I feel like a fat blob and I cry for no reason! Usually I feel ok but today I just hate it!" hahaha he is such a sweetheart, because although I'm SURE I was a hilarious mess, he didn't laugh and he just said "usually I think you're beautiful, but today I think you're extra beautiful". hahaha bless him.

So, yesterday I felt really over pregnancy too, girls.

I had my first dream about the baby last night! I dreampt that he was chubby and happy and I was eating chips around him then decided to give him one and he ate it so enthusiastically that I realized he might be hungry so I got him a bottle. Then he was tired so I put him to bed while singing a nursery rhyme. It was a really sweet dream!

@StrawberryBee: That's what I understood it to mean. Like, DH is O+, so he's rh+ and I have some sort of negative blood type so I have to get the shot.

@Grace: On our anatomy scan baby's stomach was measuring smaller than it should have. So, there was some concern that baby was either not swallowing amniotic fluid and would come out not having the developed skill for eating, or worst case there was an esophageal atresia, essentially a congenital defect where the esophagus never reached the stomach, and just ends going nowhere. BUT! Everything looked good this time.

@.twist.: I'm fine with discontinuing the appointment list. I think we're past all the exciting stuff now :). Until, you know, the big exciting stuff.

That is so sweet what your DH said to you! Mine was in a funk yesterday but wouldn't tell me why (at least, he was really quiet and wasn't responding very much). He's trying not to bother me when he comes to bed because he doesn't want to aggravate my sore muscles, but that's not doing much for my self esteem right now. *tackles him and forces him to snuggle*

    @Modern Daisy: how cute!

    @JamieLee: Cool pic!!!

@Sapphiresun: Lol, I finally called the dr's office, and I am A+. So no RH to worry about. Maybe, just maybe I will be able to remember my blood type.

@Grace: oh dear! I've been feeling very stuck lately too (on the couch, on the bed...). I tweaked my back last night getting out of the shower and thought it was the end for me (when I put my back out, I Put My Back Out), but thank god I think I managed to stretch it out in time. And then in the middle of the night I was leaping out of bed because I got a horrible cramp in my leg and then again in my foot. Heck, even my toes cramp.

I'm scheduled to take it on Monday morning at 10:30. I am going to write thank you cards for the gifts I got at my shower, so that should keep me busy for awhile!

@Sapphiresun: I'm glad everything looked normal at the u/s! Sorry about the insulin, but whatever it takes to make sure baby is healthy!

@.twist.: I am fine with stopping the appointment list--I rarely look at that one anymore since all of our appointments are so routine. (This is embarrassing, but most of the time when I look at it, it's to remind myself when my own appointments are!)

@Modern Daisy: Last week I dreamed that the baby was born and it was a boy. I cried in my dream because I had to return our pink car seat. Not nearly as pleasant as yours!

@JamieLee: That is SUCH a cute u/s pic! I can't believe how detailed it is! Sorry that you failed the 1-hour, too. But as @Alivoo01 said, I did start a thread about it and there were a ton of people that passed the 3 hour after failing the 1 hour, so try not to stress too much yet!

@StrawberryBee: I made a note in my iPhone with my blood type because I can't ever remember...how pathetic is that?!

@Sapphiresun: So, I felt like crap ALL DAY yesterday. Honestly, like a wicked hangover, and that was the day post-test! Now I'm just holding my breath for a call from the midwife - thanks to PCOS, I'm seriously thinking that it'll be a fail. SO glad your LO's stomach looks great - and you're allowed to be over being pregnant. You've had a rough go so far!

@Grace: That's me, all the time. It started at 12 weeks, with some ridiculous sacroiliac joint dysfunction, and even now, going from sitting to standing, or lying down to getting up, its extremely painful.

@JamieLee: Sorry about the GD test. That sucks. Hopefully you turn things around for the 3 hour. I've never heard that you're supposed to eat MORE carbs than usual before it. Weird how things are just slightly different between Canada/US.

@redsmarties: Yeah, the PCOS definitely is a risk factor. I'm sure that's what bit me in the butt (as always). Fingers crossed that you have a better result.

We had our 3D u/s this morning, and baby girl was very stubborn! Apparently she's head up (her head is on my right side near my ribs) and she was facing my spine, so that position doesn't make for good pics. She wasn't shy about showing off her goods, though--she is all girl! The tech was really nice and is letting us go back in 3 weeks to see if we can get some better shots. Here's the best we could get today!

@lawbee11: Aww, look at the little foot. I think it's coom that you know where the baby is. I keep wondering how he's positioned in there and if the lump I'm feeling is a head or butt or what.

@RedSmarties: Ha! It's supposed to rain here all weekend, so no exciting plans. Lots of shopping (both for baby and plants though)!

I did some gender prediction tests today and most of them (like 80%) point to girl. So weird, 'cause I've convinced myself it's a boy. Apparently hubs thinks it's a girl, so one of us will be right!

@Grace: I think I am going to start calling her Bigfoot. She has some big feet!! I did a ton of gender prediction stuff and I think all of it or at least 90% said boy!

Is anyone else exhausted? I feel like I am back in the first trimester! I took a nap yesterday and today. Hopefully I get my energy back soon!
