@lawbee11: @Alivoo01: dittos, I don't have any routine ultrasounds scheduled either!
@Grace: I'm going to stop with the regular shirts now ;). Mom is more or less back on board. Now we got the sad news that dh's grandmother passed away today, and the memorial is probably going to be scheduled August third. I don't think I'll be able to go; I feel bad, but it's an hour away and that's a day after my duedate.

@Alivoo01: Good luck at your appointment. Hopefully the extra rest and lots of water helped out. Keep us posted!!

@Sapphiresun: yes! I changed my last day both on the recommendation of my midwife, and the sheer fact that I am just DONE with work right now. The sleeping, the pain- and some particularly bothersome co-workers mean I'm miserable at the office. So the 19th it is!

@Mrs Hedgehog: I actually thought something might be wrong based on active LO has become. He's the most active I think he's been this whole pregnancy. I read somewhere that we feel them more now because they are getting bigger while there is less fluid to cushion their kicks and jabs. We play a little game where he kicks my side, I push his foot back in, and he juts it out again. It's our first power struggle.

@JennyG: my babe is way more active now too and I was also worried because I had heard the opposite is true. However I asked my OB yesterday and she said its totally normal. She said the movements might feel different, more stretching and bigger movements against your belly. Babies are also starting to develop a nap cycle so there may be longer periods of no movement and then when it does move it seems to be moving around a lot. My baby just feels huge to me. Like its taking up my whole stomach. I can always feel around and find a bum or limb which is funny to me.

@Alivoo01: good luck Mama...will have my fingers crossed for you this AM.
AFM...had my 32 (33) week appointment this morning. Baby girls heart rate is up to 152 from 132 last appointment - so she's all excited in there this morning. Doctor felt around and thinks she is still head up. She said at my 36 week appointment they will do a sonogram if they cant tell from an internal exam which position she is in. Otherwise a nice boring appointment!

@redsmarties: sounds good. I've been wavering on the 26th as well. Between hip pain, not sleeping and the fact that they already started the girl that's going to cover my maternity leave and she covered the job for a year while I backfilled somebody else's leave two years ago... so it's not like I needed to train her, she just jumped in, took all my work over and now I'm BORED! It's tempting to wrap things up for me as well, especially now that my dr is back on the "maybe we'll induce at 38 weeks" frame of mind, which would mean last day of work on the 26th, baby on the 28th when I purposely saved up 1.5 weeks vacation just to hang out beforehand.
@JennyG: @delight: Interesting that you guys feel like it's moving more. For me at 36 weeks, mine's pretty quiet, but when it does move its big moves, and my OB said it's still often enough. But very strange since I used to have a baby that every U/S or OB appt they commented on how active it is. I sometimes I have to push an appendage back in too. Pretty funny.

@Sapphiresun: Goodness, that is awful! Since I am far behind, I hope you've stood your ground. They should be offering to assist you, not to be pampered and to have you go out of your way with a brand new LO in the house! UGH! That's awful. Stand your ground and say No-way!

@Sapphiresun: Same for me on the movement (at nearly 37 weeks). And sometimes she streeeeetches and I can feel pressure at my cervix and top of my belly at the same time...so weird!

@StrawberryBee: yeah, I think this one likes to attempt to fold herself in half bum out so ill get two spots of pressure at the back and a huge hard spot in the front where bum/back are pressed up against the outside.

@JamieLee: You got the perfect weather weekend to be downstate! Hope you have a good time at your shower and get all your errands done!
What are you guys planning for nursing bra's and tanks? I kind of expect to be in the nursing tanks throughout the day at my house, only putting on an underwire nursing bra when I go out of the house (which will not be too much in the first month or two). I just bought 2 bras (one night time and one underwire) and 2 tanks from target since they are having a sale. I'm just wondering if this is consistent with anyone else?
I bought a size up in the tanks and overnight bra, and my current size in the underwire bra. Not planning to take tags off anything until I get home from the hospital (except probably the tank I'll take to the hospital for my "going home" outfit.
Also - do you guys have LO's going home outfit planned out? I have an heirloom outfit (both my mom and I went home from the hospita in it - and it was made by my grandma and great aunt) so I hink I plan to take that. However, I also want her to wear that for her baptism so I am thinking about taking another outfit (maybe a footed PJ from Carters) just in case she is a messy little one who I worry may ruin the heirloom piece before the baptism?
I'm trying to get my bags packed this weekend (minus snacks I plan to take)...my sister told me they left the bags (hers/her DH's/baby i.e. diaper) packed and in the crib until go time - I thought that was a great use of the crib space until D-Day.
Last question (sorry I am full of them today) for you ladies with pets - I was kind of thinking of building the swing, bouncer, and rock n play this weekend to put out in the next week or so for my dog to start to get accustomed too - also the two floor mats we have. Just was thinking it would be better for her curiosity to get fulfilled before there is a baby in them - thoughtS?

@Mrs D: I was told at Thyme by a particularly snotty girl that I "wasn't allowed" to buy nursing bras until 2 weeks before my due date because of sizing changes, so I haven't jumped on that yet. I picked up two cheap nursing tanks at Walmart, and plan to get a few more from Target/a maternity store next week. I have two sports-bra-type nursing bras already, because I bought them in 2nd tri when my boobs were getting enormous and I didn't want to waste money on a new regular bra.
I have LO's outfit(s) planned; I've packed a newborn-sized sleeper and hat from Carter's, and a 0-3 month sleeper from Joe Fresh just in case she's big. I think, good call on taking a secondary outfit, just in case!
ONE WEEK left of work...oh MAN am I ever excited!!
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
@Mrs D: I'm scared to buy nursing bras. My breasts have been growing like crazy and I'm sure anything I buy won't fit. I'm not sure what to do...
As for going home outfit, I have a NB sleeper and a 0-3 sleeper to bring. Need to find a hat to go with the NB sleeper though. Apparently the hospital's idea of hats is to wrap gauze in a hat shape and seal with masking tape. No thank you.
pomelo / 5326 posts
@Mrs D: I bought two nursing tanks from target as well, also in one size up from my pre pregnancy size.i tried them on and they fit well over my belly now, so I'm sure they will be roomy. But they'll be comfy for the first few weeks or so and then I can always buy more. I loved the ones at target. I am waiting until next week when Im 36w to buy nursing bras. My friends recommend the Bravado ones but they look expensive.
I have my baby bag packed for hospital. My MIL bought a cute going home outfit but its size 0-3 months and think it might be big. It's also fleece so maybe too hot. So I also threw in some NB onesies and pants, sleepers and we will see what babe wears home.
@redsmarties: yeah for one more week! That's awesome! I was very excited to start getting EI this week. I'm Only taking 7 months off so I signed up as soon as I was done work for the school year because you can start collect up to 8 weeks before due date.
I guess I shouldn't say "only" because I know a lot of you would love to have 7 months.
@Alivoo01: yes we need an update are you and babe ok?! Hope everything went well!
AFM: I had to call the hospital last night because I noticed some pink spotting when I went to the bathroom. I asked HB for opinions and was told to give the doctor a call. So I called triage and the nurse was able to page my OB who was on call. She said that it sounded like everything was fine, and just rest. I should go in if it turns bright red or I have cramps. I have no idea why I was bleeding though but it seems to have stopped.

@Mrs D: I bought 2 nursing bras a few weeks ago when I was in the states, they're both underwire. At my prenatal class this week the instructor or someone mentioned about how it's not good to wear underwire nursing bras for the first 2 months approx as it can cause blocked ducts or something like that. We don't have a maternity store where I live, so I might just go to costco and buy the 2 pack of camisole tanks they have? I haven't really seen any nursing tops here, but I'd prob buy maybe 2 before hand until I can figure out a better sizing after birth.
I built all of my stuff, swing, bouncer, etc as I got it. My dog never never took a second look at it. He loves to go in the nursery and lay on the floor for some reason.
@delight: Glad your spotting stopped, hopefully it was just nothing? Could it have been the start of your plug?
I got a lot accomplished in the last few days. I got my hospital bag mostly organized. I have a list of last minute things to add sitting on top so at least I can be organized if something happens. I think I'm getting my car seat tonight ( my brother and sister bought it for me, but my brother didn't want to come to my shower last week to give it to me, so I think they're doing that tonight. ) My dad is coming over today to hang up all my pictures and shelves for my nursery. I bought a bunch of baskets and got things organized. Just waiting for my MIL to finished sewing the bedding and then the nursery will be complete. I can't wait!

@redsmarties: @delight: The high risk doctor measured the baby even smaller than sonogram tech did at my OB's office; and my amniotic fluid is still low. Sigh.... They put me on bed rest and requested I go back in on Monday for another sonogram to measure the baby and fluid levels and hook me up to a NST monitor. I'm 36 weeks today and am hoping things improve soon so that DS can bake a lil longer. Fortunately, at the appointment yesterday, his organs are functioning normally and he's doing everything he should (e.g. practice breathing, is swallowing amniotic fluid because his stomach was full, his kidneys are functioning because his bladder was full, etc.) So that was comforting. He's just measuring very, very small for his age.
My hospital bag is packed since the OB told me to have it ready, just in case. Hoping to set up and organize everything in the nursery this weekend. Washed a bunch of clothes yesterday so that's ready to go.
As for a going home outfit, I'm just bringing a couple cute onesies since it's so darn hot here. Maybe I'll send the hubby to look for a cute outfit at Carter's!
For nursing bras/tanks, I still need to acquire those. I just don't know what size to buy! I do like y'alls idea of leaving the tags on so exchanges/returns will be easier, if necessary.
grapefruit / 4187 posts
@Mrs D: I've actually been wearing nursing bra's exclusively since I outgrew my old one's. I didn't see a point in buying new bras in a larger size that weren't nursing since I will (hopefully) go back down to my original size eventually. I will probably wait until after I get home from the hospital to buy nursing tops/dresses since I don't know what size I'm going to need at this point.
I'm also hankering to pack my hospital bags, but that is going to have to wait until we finish setting up the nursery. I'm only 33 weeks, so I figure I have at least a couple weeks before it's critical that they're ready to go. Famous last words.. lol! But I have been following posts on what to pack, etc.
I've also been buying toiletries in bulk from Amazon so we don't have to run out to the store every day to buy more toilet paper or soap, etc. I know a lot of you ladies in more suburban areas probably do this regularly, but living in the city it hasn't become habit for us yet.
I just bought a going home outfit for the little man from Janie and Jack along with some summer 2014 items that were on sale. I obviously had to guess his size, but I think what I ordered is pretty safe as long as he doesn't get ridiculously huge by then. If he's average or a little large for his size they will fit him just fine.

@Mrs D: I bought a nursing tank that accommodates a few sizes, and two of these (I figure I'll use them for sleeping/around the house) -
http://www.bravadodesigns.com/shop/the-original-nursing-bra-double-plus-style
I actually found some new with tags on eBay for really cheap- just a tip!
I plan on buying an underwire nursing bra after my milk comes in, but I wanted to have a few to be prepared. I'm going to pack my hospital bag this weekend, and wanted one for that!
Re: Pets, I have most gear set up and let the dogs and cats explore the nursery. I might send my mom home from the hospital right after the baby is born with something that has been around the baby so they can get used to the scent.
@redsmarties: WHOO HOO, one week of work! I finished mid last week and it's pretty nice. I've been taking naps
@Modern Daisy: I too have been stocking up on toiletries etc from amazon. It's like I feel like I won't be able to get what I need for a while!
AFM, I'm really ready to not be pregnant. My hands and feet are swollen and it's pretty ridiculous. I have to go to a wedding this weekend, and it's going to be about 100 degree. NOT into it.
I have most of the thing I need set up and ready, but I really need to get my car seat installed. I also want to prepare some frozen ready-for-the-crockpot meals so the first few weeks are easier. I don't really have anyone around that cooks.
I keep having dreams and feeling like this baby is a boy. I don't know if that's because I have a preference, but I realllly can't wait to see! I think our babes will be here before we know it!

@delight: I'm so glad you went in, I saw your other thread but I wasn't able to reply. I'm glad everything looks good
@Alivoo01: That is pretty scary, what week are they trying to get you too? Bed rest is no fun, but no joke either, I hope upping your fluid intake helps. It's a relief to know that his organs are all functioning properly, my son was pretty small (6lbs 3oz) and preemie fit him perfectly.

Hey ladies! Just wanted to check in. Promise to catch up with you all in my next post. We have been super busy!!
Lukas is still in NICU, I think we get to take him home tomorrow! He's so lovely, you girls are in for such a treat when your little ones are born! I can't even explain how I love him!
So to catch you up with my labour, my water broke, but I didn't know because the membrane broke up high, so it was just a trickle. Doctors think my placenta somehow tore some of itself away from my uterus lining.
Had an epi and it was amazing! Lukas gave us a lot of worry though. As soon as I got to the hospital his heart rate kept dropping. Especially with strong contractions.
When I write his birth story ill go into more detail. But we figured it out and I had him! 2 hours of pushing. An episiotomy. No roids! Although I haven't pooped yet. I'm so scared to. Episiotomies suck.
I'm honestly finding the recovery harder than the delivery!
While I was in the hospital I was BF. now I'm pumping. Lukas had a tongue tie, so they clipped it because it was doing major terror to my nipples! But now he latches well and my milk came in today. Sore boobies.
Love you all!!

@.twist.: ahhhh look at him, he is amazing! You're awesome too, way to go mama! Nice job with our first August babe! Can't wait to hear your whole story, but thanks for checking in with us, I'm sure you're a very busy lady. Get lots of rest! Glad to hear BF is sorted out and you guys have a good latch! Enjoy every moment with Lukas.
Your water breaking post jump started DH and I and we have painted the nursery and really cleaned things up around here. We realized we could have a baby here any day now!

@delight: Sorry about the spotting. Glad they weren't concerned though! Did they think it could be your bloody show?
@Alivoo01: Ugh! That stinks you have to be on bedrest, but at least the little guy is doing ok. Sounds like you're in good hands. Did they end up doing a cervical check to see if you're dilated at all?
@JessKas: I hear ya on the heat and swelling! I miss wearing all my cute summer shoes. Do your rings still fit? I can just barely squeeze mine on.
@.twist.: Awww Twist he's just perfect!!! I got chills reading your post. Can't believe he's really here! I wonder who will be next!
pomelo / 5326 posts
@skipper2010: no the doctor didn't say anything about what the spotting could be contributed too. I was up and down my stairs a dozen times before I noticed so maybe that contributed to it. Also, weirdly, the baby kicked me super hard a couple times that night so maybe they irritated my cervix or something? I didn't see any mucous so I don't think it's the plug. I haven't had anything since and feel fine so hopefully I'm in the clear for a few more weeks!
Oh and my ring got stuck yesterday so I think I have to stop wearing it now. My ankles are still ok though!!
nectarine / 2530 posts
@Mrs D: I got four nursing tanks. Possibly a little big, but I don't know where my belly will be, and just plan to wear them around the house. I'd rather be comfy. I got them from motherhood maternity; the target ones didn't fit me right.
I haven't purchased nursing bras yet -- as others have said, I've heard that underwires can cause blocked ducts, and I don't know how big the girls will be when my milk comes in? I've stayed in the same bras my whole pregnancy (36DD). Pretty sure that'll change soon!
I set up the RNP immediately :). The swing I'm holding off on; does anyone know if you can use them with a newborn, or if there's a start age for it? My MIL said my SIL said something about swings not okay for newborns.
@delight: glad to hear everything is okay!
@Alivoo01: Sorry to hear about your worries; but it's good to hear that everything's functioning as it should. Maybe he's just going to be a small fry?
@JessKas: ooh, thank you for the link to the bras!! I think this is definitely more what I'm looking for than what I've been able to find anywhere else. Sounds like I should go for the M++. I also kinda like this one: http://www.bravadodesigns.com/shop/the-body-silk-seamless-nursing-bra
@.twist.: Yay, so happy to hear from you hon!!! Figured you were just busy ;). So glad to hear Lukas is doing well (and looking adorable!) and that you're feeling relatively okay. At what point did you get the epidural? So proud and happy for you, mama!
pomelo / 5326 posts
@StrawberryBee: I thought swings were ok for newborns! The one I have says it can be used from birth. Usually there is extra head support for newborns, and I probably wouldn't use it if baby was really little. It is recommended that baby is only in a swing for 30 mins at a time, twice a day. Lots of people let baby nap in them though.
nectarine / 2530 posts
Oh, and after hounding the lovely ladies at a durable medical supplier all week, I managed to catch their shipment of Medela Freestyles (after they filled backorders) and snag one for myself :). $125 upcharge for a $400 breast pump...not bad! I probably shouldn't count on it though until it's in my hands ;).
nectarine / 2530 posts
@delight: Thanks!! I just found this:
http://www.fisher-price.com/en_US/brands/babygear/products/56778
"Developmental Guidelines: Use from birth until child becomes active and may be able to climb out of the product."
So I guess we're good :). I also didn't think there was a newborn ban on swings, so when MIL told me that it threw me for a loop.
We haven't set ours up yet because it'll go in the living room, and I don't want the cats hanging out in it before she's here (and getting used to a comfy new spot). I think I'll actually end up throwing a blanket over it when it's not in use, so that DH's allergies don't act up if pets do end up getting hair in it (and let's face it...they will lol)

Getting my first EVER pedicure today (shower gift from my sister), and going for tea at a new English tea shop that opened up in my city. Did my first load of baby laundry last night - I had to take it to my mom's, because our washer is STILL broken.
@StrawberryBee: Great deal! Lets hope they follow through, haha and you get the pump soon.
@.twist.: Love it! He's adorable, and I'm glad things went fairly well for you. Hope you get to bring him home today!
@JessKas: Yep, I'm just about ready to be done as well. The swelling in my feet is bad, but not what's getting to me; for me its the pain in my hips and pelvis. But at the same time, I'm trying to enjoy these last few weeks of it being just me and DH.

@.twist.: OMG!! Lukas is absolutely precious!! Can't wait to read your birth story, and yay for him going home!!!
@skipper2010: The OB didn't do a cervical check. I go back in on Monday for another sonogram and NST check, and also on Wednesday. Guess we're just playing it by ear each day.
@redsmarties: Yay for pedicures, but boo on the broken washer!

@Mrs D: I bought two tanks early on, and will hopefully manage with those until I can get out and shop for more in whatever size I happen to be PP.
As for going home outfits, I don't have anything that exciting. Maybe we'll take a look while we're out and about otherwise it'll just be a plain sleeper. I have the outfit I went home in , but it's knitted and looks a little hot.
@.twist.: Congrats! Such a handsome little boy. Hopefully you all get to go home soon.
@skipper2010: My rings are a bit of an issue. They felt a little tight, so I hadn't been wearing them for the last few weeks while it was super hot here. But then Tuesday was our wedding anniversary and I wanted to put them on. And now, cannot get them off. Tried everything... stuck my hand in ice water, dish soap, butter, dental floss trick, held it above my head for a long time. Nothing. So, I'm going swimming tomorrow, and I'm hoping that will take down the swelling enough that I can get it off. I don't want to have to cut it!
@redsmarties: My hips are the worst of it too. Even the pillow between the legs isn't keeping them comfortable through the night anymore.

@.twist.: Haha! He'd looks so happy to be out! I've never seen such a giddy expression on a newborn. Congratulations again and I hope you get to go home soon!
@StrawberryBee: My swing has a newborn insert and says that so long as the baby falls in the weight range, it's all good.
@redsmarties: Enjoy your pedicure. They are awesome!

@redsmarties: I just got back from a pedicure. I'm not sure what I enjoyed more, my pretty tootsies or the incredible massage chair. Did you love it?
@StrawberryBee: We are waiting a little bit longer before setting up our swing. I feel like almost every room of our house Is already taken over by baby stuff, but the swing doesn't really need to be set up until LO is here.
I have to orders crib mattress and am about to pull my hair out. How in the world am I supposed to figure out which one to get? Any suggestions?
