@JennyG: Loved it!! Cute toes, massage for my swollen feet, AND a massage chair! It was great!
@Sapphiresun: I know - the pillow between the legs/ Snoogle was the perfect solution for so long...and now, nothing.

@StrawberryBee: oh god. Thanks for posting that....I think. Ouchy ouchy ouchy. I already have nightmares about going #2 after birth. Waaaaaaaaah!

@StrawberryBee: thanks so much for this article - I really want brutal honesty like ths!!!
@delight: warm prune juice - my mom and sister swear by it!!!

@delight: @Mrs D: just sharing the random Pinterest love. Not sure whether to laugh or cry!

@StrawberryBee: cry....cry very very hard.
Actually the article was cute, I enjoyed it and passed it on to my BF who is 38 weeks.
@Mrs D: thanks for the tip. I've never actually had prune juice before but I will buy a bottle to have on hand!

@JennyG: Our Babies R Us only had five options, and none of them had size specifications on them, so I just assumed they were standard. I just picked the mid-priced one that was on sale, and was a Sealy so I figured it was a reputable enough brand. 250 coils, looked easy to wipe off... and (hopefully) done!
pomelo / 5326 posts
@JennyG: I did the same as sapphiresun. Ordered the midrange mattress from BRU. I think the one I got is Sealy Baby Soft Premium Mattress. In Canada they're on sale this week, maybe in US too?

@delight: I think we ended up with the same one. I'm glad somebody else had the same strategy.
grapefruit / 4545 posts
@JennyG: I got the one below...I was baffled by the prices. I asked around and found the most important things were non toxic materials and dual firmness...it hit both those marks and was a price that didn't make me gag!
@delight: Me either...I have had prunes (from Trader Joes) but never prune juice. My mom said she found something like juice boxes or small bottles in six pack form so she got them for me. I told her I'd take one to the hospital and plan to use the others as needed at home. It came as a recommendation from her nurse when she had us...and when I confirmed with my sister that she had to have a BM before being discharged I decided I'd take it in my bag as well.
So DH and I finished up our misc shopping at Target this weekend (nursery stuff, diaper bag stuff, my bag stuf) and when we were cruising the pharmacy area I turned to DH and said "ok just dont ask about anything I grab and why I am grabbing it" he gave me a weird look and just said "I think I'd just rather know now so I am not learning all this while you are pushing a human out of you and/or recovering"...every time I told him what something was his face got whiter and whiter! haha
pomelo / 5326 posts
@Mrs D: can you share what you got? Obviously pads but what else do I need? I feel like I am forgetting stuff. Can you buy witch hazel at pharmacy? That's supposed to be good for afterwards.
Good idea about bringing a small bottle of prune juice to hospital. I didn't know you had to have a BM to leave. But really, how will they know?
nectarine / 2530 posts
@delight: "But really, how will they know?" Well, isn't that the million dollar question
nectarine / 2220 posts
@delight: No, I really think you have to PROVE it... that's what I heard anyway. So unless you have a husband who's willing to drop one and let you show it to the nurses as your own...
But really, it's good to make sure all that's in working order before you go so it's probably in your own best interest not to fib about it.

@sapphiresun: "So unless you have a husband who's willing to drop one and let you show it to the nurses as your own..."
Cracking up here.
pomelo / 5326 posts
@Sapphiresun: ahahahaha love it. I can't believe they make you prove it, that's brutal. I will be really anxious about it and won't be able to "perform". I'll be in the hospital for a week!
Does anyone else have sore boobs? Are they supposed to start hurting again?
blogger / honeydew / 7081 posts
@Mrs D: Oh gosh, my husband was like this when I came home from Walmart with bags of things. He's like "Those pads are bigger than the newborn diapers...the hell is going to happen to you??" Oh honey, wouldn't you like to know.
@Sapphiresun: Not sure the BM thing is policy everywhere - I'm aiming for early release (4 hours) with the midwives, and I definitely don't have to 'prove' anything, haha. But better be prepared, I guess!
@delight: Mine hurt! Must be colostrum production amping up (or just those pesky hormones again!)
grapefruit / 4545 posts
@delight: ok here is what I got...
-Colace (stool softener)
-Prune Juice (Mom got it for me)
-junky undies
-Prep H wipes (have witch hazel in them)
-Ice packs
-travel size toiletries
Here is what I didn't get b/c I am told the hospital I deliver at provides it:
-Tucks pads
-Peri Bottle
-Pads
-Mesh Undies
-Sleep Meds
-Pain Meds
-Donut
-Butt Spray
Not Purchased Yet:
-Sitz Bath
-Coconut Oil
-Snacks
Not buying (have already):
-Lip Balm
-Hair ties/head bands
-Yoga Pants (to leave it)
-Nursing Tank (to leave in)
-Cotton long sleeve wrap (to leave in)
-Rubber bottom socks
-Cotton Robe
Tomorrow at work I am printing lists for my bag, babies bag (basically ready now) and suggested list for DH. This way - since I am so freaked out about going early) - if I need anyone to go by the house and get "stuff" I can tell them where the printed list is for them to reference!
@Sapphiresun: seriously dies laughing at your comment
pomelo / 5326 posts
@Mrs D: ok awesome thanks! That's a great list! Definitely need some tucks pads and prep H! Don't forget pajamas, unless you're just gonna wear a hospital gown! I went out and bought new nursing pjs. Just an excuse to go shopping really.
Is it weird I'm excited to fit into some of the maternity clothes I've grown out of? I'm looking ahead to after delivery thinking I can wear my cute pink maternity jeans that I can't pull on anymore. I can rock them again this fall! Although I'm sure ill be happy to get back into my pre-pregnancy jeans, I know it won't happen for a little while.
My BF lost her mucous plug today, she said it was gross. I was hoping we'd have our babies on the same day, but she's a few weeks ahead of me, so guess it won't happen.
@.twist.: you've made me super excited to have my baby! I'm so happy for you and hope you're home now enjoying snuggles with Lukas.
pear / 1693 posts
@redsmarties: haha, my husband thought my pads WERE the newborn diapers.
@delight: I'm looking forward to fitting in some of my maternity pants that are a LITTLE snug now. I'm totally planning on using them as my interim pants until my old clothes fit. That way I only have to buy new tops (nursing friendly).
grapefruit / 4545 posts
@delight: what are nuring PJ's? I was thinking maybe I'd take my maternity cotton sleep shorts and an extra nursing tank & bra. So total I'd have 1 pair yoga pants, 1 pair maternity pj shorts, 2 nursing tanks and 1 overnight nursing bra. I'd also have a robe and a long sleeved wrap. If I deliver vaginally I only get one night in the hospital so I dont need that much...
pomelo / 5326 posts
@Mrs D: oh I just got a 3 piece set that had comfy pants, a sweater and a nursing tank. Pretty much reg pjs but has nursing features. I like comfy pjs and find hospitals cold so I like that it had a sweater. I got it on sale at Thyme maternity.

What do you ladies plan on wearing during delivery? (assuming anything ever goes according to plan. lol)
I can't remember who it is now but one of the bees posted about the pretty pusher delivery dresses and I ordered one! I can't wait for it to get here! I was talking about it with a friend of mine who said her sister used one during delivery with her second child and it was simply uh-mazing.
http://www.prettypushers.com/
I ended up with the blue and pink one (totally ignoring the sushi. I just love the colors!) I got it off Amazon which meant FREE shipping! Yay! lol.
Now to pack the rest of my bag. Mr. Hedgie has made it his project but I am definitely working on it quite a bit too!
@Mrs D: Love the list! I am totally using that to help round out mine.
pear / 1812 posts
@delight: Mine hurt like hell off and on. None of my bras fit all of the sudden either! And it isn't the cup size that is the problem, its the ribs! I swear she is growing up into my ribs more than anything else and stretching them out!
pear / 1812 posts
@redsmarties: I have to wear the Purple Always Overnights that people suggest for PP for my NORMAL cycle... Mr. Hedgie makes fun of me and calls them my diapers. (Jerk). So I am TERRIFIED to find out what I will need PP! Looks like I might end up in diapers! Gross....
blogger / honeydew / 7081 posts
@Mrs Hedgehog: I bought incontinence pads ( I also wore overnights as normal pads - thanks, PCOS). Seriously - they're the Poise Hourglass ones, and they are frigging massive. SO sexy. And WHAT? Those gowns are so cute! If I hadn't already bought a $7 dress from Walmart (reco'd by my doula), I would totally pick one up!
pear / 1812 posts
@redsmarties: Heck, I already got a cheap dress from Walmart too and then I saw these and said, F that! Looks like I have a spare! lol. These are so awesome too because they have a slit in the front for the monitors that still covers your lady bits AND it is super low in the back so if I end up needing an Epi, I don't have to pull the dress up. and it covers my butt... which I esp like. lol. Oh, and the halter easily pulls down for BF and skin to skin. Yeah, I caved and got it.
I gotta look for those pads... I am already stocked up on the overnights from before I got pregnant. Those sound amazing though! Are they super long? I got throwaway underwear but I would rather not HAVE to throw them away. Seriously not looking forward to this part of having the baby!
blogger / honeydew / 7081 posts
@Mrs Hedgehog: Hmmmm....maybe I need one.....withou DH finding out, haha (because I've gone spend-crazy this week!)
pear / 1812 posts
@redsmarties: Tell me about it... we went out and got a bunch of basics we knew nobody would buy us at the shower and... OMG... $400 later we STILL need stuff! And we tried to be cheap!!! (in all fairness I did buy some comfy clothes for me for PP...)
blogger / honeydew / 7081 posts
@Mrs Hedgehog: Oooh, I need to get some PP clothes. Considering returning a TON of toys we got and buying some yoga pants. Also need nursing tanks, as I'm sure I'll be living in those for awhile. Oh shopping - so fun, but only when its not your own money.
nectarine / 2530 posts
@Mrs Hedgehog: highly doubt I'll be given the option of wearing anything except a hospital gown. I just don't feel like fighting it out with the nurses and doctors.
pomelo / 5326 posts
Ugh I am spotting again. There was a little bit of red blood mixed with pink discharge. I don't want to call the hospital again, and it's not that much but it's a little worrisome. Google says after 35 weeks you can start to lose your plug so I guess that's what it is. I just hate seeing blood after my experience with a mc. Glad I see my OB Tuesday morning.
Has anyone else noticed changes in their discharge?
pear / 1812 posts
@StrawberryBee: The only reason I went ahead and got it was because we were told during the tour that we could wear whatever we wanted so long as it didn't interfere with medical stuff. And this dress doesn't. I even called and checked before hand and got the OK.
@redsmarties: I can't seem to find any yoga pants that fit me right (obv the belly makes it hard right now) and that I can afford! I am also short so that makes it esp hard. So, shorts it is! I got these super cheap and comfy workout shorts from Walmart a while back and saw that they had more colors on sale so I bought a bunch knowing I would much rather wear shorts. Seriously soooo comfy! And for $8 a pop for some cute shorts? I am SO there! I do need to find some nursing tanks. I can't seem to find any in my size! Let's just say the ladies have never been on the small side and now esp so!
Where did you ladies find your nursing tanks? I can't order anything offline since I never know how they actually fit. Any brick and mortar stores you recommend?
pear / 1812 posts
@delight: I would call. Why risk it? I mean, if there is something wrong wouldn't you want to know ASAP just in case? And besides, they DID tell you to call if you started seeing red right? Seriously, atleast call. What can it hurt? I mean, if everything is fine and you called, great! Now you don't have to worry. If you don't call and find out later everything wasn't fine, how will you feel? Just think about it that way. Don't mean to worry you anymore but with the red mixed in... I would just get it checked out atleast. Who knows, you may be our next to pop!
I haven't noticed a change in mine at all. Part of the reason I really hope you call. It could be nothing. It could be something.
nectarine / 2530 posts
@delight: no changes here either, so I second @Mrs Hedgehog. Probably nothing, but peace of mind in asking about it is worth it!
I have a feeling that everything with my hospital and doctors is going to be an uphill battle, so I'm picking and choosing my battles. I have zero confidence in either of them. When I went over my birth plan last week I was told that I couldn't have skin to skin and delayed cord clamping because "gravity would cause blood to go out of the baby and into the placenta". So now I have to come armed with evidence to my next appointment. Sigh.
nectarine / 2530 posts
Oh, and target has yoga shorts and pants on sale now. I got my nursing tanks at motherhood maternity; I'm the oddball who didn't like how the target tanks fit.
pomelo / 5326 posts
@Mrs Hedgehog: @StrawberryBee: I called triage again. They just asked me questions. How much blood, did I have sex recently(no), do I have pains (no) is baby moving (yes) etc. The nurse says it sounds like I may be starting to dilate and/or lose my plug. I don't have any contraction like pains and the red blood was just like a tiny string with the pink discharge so they didn't say come in. She did say that the OB will do a cervical check on Tuesday at my appointment most likely. I also mentioned it feels harder to walk, like I have a lot of pressure down there and she said if I have a sensitive cervix and baby is dropping there may be a bit of blood. You're right though, it feels better to talk to someone. Hopefully I'll know more on Tuesday after my appointment.
