    @Mrs D: Even though it's normal for them not to poop daily, I still freak when C doesn't go that day. It's never fun when it's followed by a blowout either. It's always on me too! Like it soaked through his onesie AND pants AND onto my pants!! *face palm* really son?! Sigh.

    DS rarely napped in his mamaroo. I just one day put him in his crib, and he slept in it! He slept in a portable bassinet/crib next to our bed the first month of his life so moving him to his own room wasn't a big transition for us.

    DS has been sleeping in his crib in his room since he was 2 months old, but his poor sleeping habits = him sleeping with me the past two nights, but unswaddled. It makes tending to him easier during those MOTN wakings, but I hope he doesn't get used to sleeping with me (not that I mind now, but later on....).

    So...K is in a bassinet in our room now - I am thinking about maybe putting her down in her crib after her early morning feed (usually between 3:30 and 5am) - maybe start the transition that way? She is definitely getting big for her bassinet and I always find that she has wiggled down to one end of it!

    I also am feeling like I really need to work on my milk stash. Currently I probably have 5 or 6 bags with 4oz each. So thats 20-24 oz. Not big enough. Currently I pump in the morning after her second feed, one side only (she eats one side I pump one side). I get about 2oz. Some days I pump again after the next feed and get another 2 oz and some days I just leave it in the fridge and add the next days loot to it before freezing. I'd like to put 4oz away each day. So I have a bottle in my fridge now - I am thinking of giving it to her for her first feed. Then I could pump both sides and hopefully get more like 6oz...then with my next pumping session I'd get another 2oz - so I could freeze 4oz and keep 4oz in the fridge for the next day.

    At that rate I'd have almost 40 bags (so 160oz) by the time I go back to work! I think I'd feel comfortable with that....what are you ladies stashes like?

    @Mrs D: M doesn't sleep in the crib at night, but I do have her taking all naps in it now. Starting a nap routine really helped. Her max awake time is 1.5 hours. I take her into the nursery, turn on white noise, change diaper, swaddle, nurse, burp, walk around patting her back for a min, then lay her down and rub her belly a few times. I think the more often you do it the more she'll get used to it and sleep longer.

    @Mrs D: Transitioning to the crib wasn't too bad for us. We just bit the bullet and did it one night. I was in tears, but baby was just fine. He didn't even know the difference. The second night was much easier for me.

    @Mrs D: I started work 3 weeks ago, and I had just shy of 300oz in my freezer stash. Now that I'm back at work, I'm pumping enough to send with DS to school plus one extra bottle. Super sad face. During the week, I probably only freeze 8oz plus whatever I pump on Friday.

    Y'all. Sleep has been complete crap with DS. He's up every 1.5 hours and I've unswaddled him so I'm super duper exhausted. Sigh. I'm debating about re-swaddling him. Thoughts?

    GOLD / watermelon / 14076 posts

    @Mrs D:

    @Alivoo01: was he up that often before you unswaddled him? If his sleep was already crap I'd keep him unswaddled--he's almost 4 months so you'll have to do it soon anyways. If his sleep wasn't crap then I'd probably go back to swaddling for awhile. I read on another thread that your DH isn't into CIO. Does he go to your Ds as soon as he starts crying? Or does he at least let him fuss a little? My SIL always ran to my niece as soon as she started fussing--she claimed that CIO creates babies that don't trust people when they're older. Well, my niece is 2 and still wakes up at least once a night, so yeah...

    ETA: I know CIO isn't for everyone, but I also think there can be a balance between CIO and picking up a baby after every little sound.

    @lawbee11: DH pretty much tends to DS when he realizes he's fussing/crying. It's terrible!! I'll have to sit him down and come to a consensus tonight! His sleep was better before unswaddling. We'd get at least 3 hours vs 1.5 this week. *Face palm*

    So again I'm way behind, but it seems the topic du jour is sleep. S sleeps swaddled in the newborn napper in the pack and play, but it think we're going to transition him to the bassinet feature soon. He's getting a little long for it. He doesn't sleep well during the day. I'm lucky to get one good nap out of him. And nighttime is a crapshoot. Sometimes his first sleep is 4 hours, sometimes it's 8. And once he wakes up from the first sleep he falls back asleep easily, but wakes up every 45 minutes till I finally give up and we just get up for the day.

    I'm really jealous of you ladies who are getting good stashes going. S wants to nurse pretty much every hour when he's awake, so I have no time to pump. I just started trying to pump when he goes down for a nap, but that's usually right after he gets done nursing, so I get like nothing. It's really frustrating and I am so worried that I'm not making enough milk for him. I'm really trying to get off the formula, but I worry that it will never happen. I need to make lactation cookies and get some more supplements. I also need to make another batch of steel cut oats in the crockpot for breakfast. Anyone else have any supply boosting advice?

    Don't want to brag... but N slept from 1230-0730 last night after three nights of waking up every 1.5 hours. I feel like a brand new woman!

    And Happy Halloween, all!

    @Alivoo01: Yeah, maybe you're better off going back to swaddling for now. And I agree that you should sit down and have a talk with your DH. I just started reading "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child" and it's really good. DH is going to read it, too. I hate hearing M fuss, but I hate having a cranky, overtired baby all day long even more!

    @JamieLee: The one piece of supply boosting advice I read over and over is to drink a ton of water throughout the day. I fill one of those jugs with the straw that I got from the hospital every night and leave it on my nightstand and drink water while I nurse M in the middle of the night!

    @Sapphiresun: Ahhh so cute!!!! And that's awesome about the sleep!

  12. Mrs D

    grapefruit / 4545 posts

    @JamieLee: I dont have any concrete advice but to piggy back off what @lawbee11: said about drinking water...I just started drinking a TON of water (well a TON for me) not to boost my supply but to help me shed some lbs and I literally had milk squirting out of me today...which is a first...so it definitely has potential to work wonders. I have one of those plastic cups with a plastic straw and I force myself to drink a whole one for each nursing session...probably 120oz a day...

    @Sapphiresun: Nice job on the sleep and adorable picture!!!

    My bestfriend just had a great idea...I signed K up for a gmail account and plan to use it as a virtual "scrapbook". I'll send her pictures and notes from time to time - then eventually give her account access when she is old enough. I also emailed her address to my family so they can do the same. I think its a cute way to accumulate some fun messages to her!

    @StbHisMrs: Mine has to have me carry her between 6 and bedtime. And usually I must be moving.

    @Alivoo01: Awww on the reaching out to you!

    @Mrs D: I moved P to her crib in her room on Monday night. I had been making excuses to wait but finally it ended up being too cold in our room where the playpen is. I wanted her in her comfy crib, where it's nice and warm. Also she's just across the hall, so it's not like she's far away. First night had lots of wakeups, second night was good, third night had lots of wakeups. I was worried for tonight because she didn't go down easy, but she just had a three hour stretch so yea! I figure eventually she'll get used to it and give me my 4-5 hr stretches again.

    @Sapphiresun: Oh that's got to feel awesome! Such good timing for a long stretch of sleep too!

  15. Alivoo01

    wonderful olive / 19353 posts

    @JamieLee: No additional advice on increasing milk supply other than taking supplements and drinking TONS of water. Seems like you get an okay amount of sleep, because I know when I don't sleep much or well, it hurts my supply. As if we're not stressed enough as is, we gotta worry about getting some decent sleep to produce milk. Sigh. lol

    @Sapphiresun: Awww! Cute picture and hooray for sleep!

    @Lawbee11: Thankfully, even if DS's sleep is a total crap shoot at night, he wakes up a happy baby and seems content during the day. He'll get fussy when he's tired and wants to go down. Even if his nap is a cat nap for 15 minutes (or shorter!), he'll wake up ready to go. However, this momma can't say the same for herself... lol

    @Mrs D: Cute idea!! I kind of do the same thing, but I only document what's going on in MS word. I have pictures on my phone that I hope to put into a yearly yearbook for him. DS's inbox would be flooded already if I did it. I'm a total momarazzi!

    @Grace: Ouch on you having to carry for 6 hours and be constantly moving! Yay for exercise???? haha

    @Mrs D: Honestly, my stash isn't that big; I never got around to consistently pumping to add to it before going back to work. Maybe 50-60 oz in the freezer?

    But she's eating somewhere around 12 oz while I'm gone, and I'm pumping 3-5 oz in the morning (5 this morning!) from one side, and 12 over two pumping sessions at work, so I feel pretty good about the surplus I'm generating on a daily basis.

    @JamieLee: I read somewhere in the last few days (so probably HB) that sometimes babies get into the habit of snacking, and never really take a full feed -- thus the tendency to want to eat constantly.

    @Sapphiresun: Yay for sleep! and cute pic!

    @Mrs D: What a cute idea! it's the little daily things that I find get missed or easily forgotten. I wish HB showed actually post dates, instead of "three weeks ago". Sometimes I want to pinpoint for the baby book when something happened, and my only record of it is HB!

    Halloween went well; my company always does a great decorating/costume contest, so my department was Old MacDonald's Farm. Wish I could post pics here of all the decorating, but here's one of E and I!

    @StrawberryBee: oh my goodness what a precious little lamb.

    N slept through the night again. 1200-830 this time. But I woke up sooo engorged especially since she only ate from one side right before bed so my left hadn't been touched since 9pm. Ouch. I got up and pumped off 3oz just to relieve pressure but I'm worried as always about my supply and that I shouldn't pump or that I'm going to lose my nighttime supply if this isn't a long term thing. What did you guys do when your babies started sleeping through?

    Also, how was your guys' first Halloween?

    We went to my cousins house and did a couple trick or treats with her kids and then kept her company while she handed out candy.

    @Sapphiresun: We took DS trick or treating with my friend's nieces and nephews. He was awake the first 10 minutes, then napped for about an hour and only woke up for the last 5 minutes because he was hungry. haha!

    Yay for another STTN!!

    @Alivoo01: @Sapphiresun: @.twist.: Thanks!

    I nearly did the same thing last night. I fell asleep before DH took E up to bed, so we never had our late night feed (she was sleeping and I was exhausted). When she woke up at 2am I only fed her from one side. When I woke up this morning I had a puddle seeping into the sheets and could hardly wait to grab her and the pump and work both sides! That would be why I got 5 oz out. Even after leaking all over the place XD;;.

    I can't really speak as to what we're doing, because E always seems to be able to get something out, no matter what. For my first pumping session here at work I stopped the pump after 35 minutes. Milk was still flowing 0_o.

    We hit up four houses in the neighborhood just to be able to say we went out. We were supposed to go out with friends but they all caught a cold.

    @.twist.: love it!!

    @StrawberryBee: what a cute lamb!

    @Sapphiresun: S doesn't consistently STTN so I haven't been doing anything because I never know when he's going to wake up!

    We didn't do anything for Halloween other than dress S up and take pictures. We live in a rural area so we don't get trick or treaters and it was pouring rain so we didn't take him outside. My SIL and her boyfriend came over to see him for a bit. We didn't even light our pumpkins because it was so nasty out. I plan to light them tonight just to get a picture!

    @.twist.: I also didn't know what your costumes were, but you all look great!

    Here's S in his garden gnome costume. I have better pictures on my camera but this will have to do!

    So we went cold turkey last night and put K in her big girl crib in her nursery...she went down after one little fussy spell and slept for 6 hours like a champ, then another 3 after eating! I am so proud of her! Hopefully she'll keep it up!

    I love all the costume pictures!!! So cute - you are all so creative!

    We are going to a football party today (big inter state rivalry in my state this weekend) and on the way dh and I are going to drive by a new development where we just may look to build a house next year...fingers crossed we love it!!!

    @Sapphiresun: yeah for the great sleep! Cute picture!
    @StrawberryBee: love the sleeping lamb!
    @JamieLee: adorable gnome!
    @Alivoo01: love the family costumes, you look awesome! I'm terrified to start u swaddling L. I was planning on still doing it til she is 4m or so. How's it going for you?
    @Mrs D: Great crib sleep! That must be a relief! Hopefully last night was good too!
    @Grace: how did the rest of the week go with crib sleep? I hope you got some good stretches again!
    @.twist.: love the costumes, although I also didn't know who you guys were L is so cute!
    @Sapphiresun: I am also conflicted about what to do about pumping now that L is STTN. I have been waking up at about 5:30/6 and pumping because DH gets up then for work anyways so I am woken up. I pump about 8oz which is awesome but my freezer is full so I don't really need the milk. I'd rather just go back to sleep until 7:30/8 when L wakes up. I'm worried if I don't pump then that if she starts getting up in the night, I won't have a good supply for her.

    Our week has been good. We went to a few Halloween parties. Halloween night was a bit of a crap shoot as the weather was terrible. L didn't love being dressed up, but I enjoyed seeing her in costume @lawbee: we both had little berries!
    L continues to sleep well and I'm starting to think about ditching the nurse to sleep, but don't want to mess with a good thing! However, I don't want it to be impossible for others to put her to sleep which is what is happening. When I go out, she just cries with DH and I feel bad. She takes the bottle reluctantly but DH and our moms have a hard time getting her to nap or go to bed.

    Here's the little berry...she was a little sour at times!

    @delight: awww...such cute pictures! I love the strawberry costume!!!

    So...crib sleep night #1 - awesome. Crib sleep night #2 - terrifying. K managed to worm her way (swaddled) all the way over to the edge of her crib and had her face turned towards the bumper - I had a heart attack when I woke up and saw this. She slept fine but it damn near killed me. I moved her at 2:30am back to the other side and by the time she got up at 4:45am to eat she was all the way back over. So when I put her back down I unswaddled one arm which seemed to calm down the worming/scooting.

    Night #3 - I think we are in the 8 week growth spurt. Yesterday I noticed she was eating for longer (she usually eats for 20 mins total and yesterday it was more like 30-40) and she was terrible in the late afternoon. She usually sleeps for a 6-7 hour stretch and last night I put her down at 9:30...she was up at 1:45, 4:45 and then 6:45. I finally have her asleep in her swing right now and am hoping she gives me until 9:45 this morning to build up some supply for her. I am chugging water and eating oatmeal for breakfast to do anything I can. I have a bag of milk maker cookies in my pantry that I am also thinking of making.

    Did you other moms go through an 8 week growth spurt?
