E is almost 12.5 lbs and almost out of her 0-3/3 month clothes. I love when they get to the next size and you get to play with a whole new wardrobe!

@MrsADS: oh my god, yes what WERE you thinking? Lol. My mom is coming next wknd and I'm making her stay in an air bnb nearby. Maybe you can tell them how challenging things are as a heads up, not kicking them out but making sure they know what to expect - and maybe they'll take a hint anyway!

@MrsADS: mspi diet is great to lose weight! I lost 3 pounds in 1 week without exercise, and I wonder where I am at now that's I've had 2 weeks with workouts! Good luck with the house guests, you will survive one way or another!

I have good news! C went to the cardiologist yesterday and said that, yes, her pulmonary valve is narrow but only slightly. We go back in six months but it looks like she won't need to have a balloon placed. Her murmur is also a 2 on a scale of 1 to 6. Which is a weird scale. Whoever goes to 6 and not 5 or 10?
Now that I've weaned I don't have an excuse to not drop the extra weight. I still have 10-12 lbs to go. I'm not so hung up on a number but I feel like none of my clothes look remotely good on me (or even fit!). Anyone else totally frustrated with their wardrobe?

@buttermilk: we tried a mam paci at 2 weeks and he didn't want it, but when I tried again at 4.5 weeks we had success. We just use it every now and then.
@T.H.O.U. it's so good to hear about how nice it is when LOs are a little older! Whenever I see a cute 1yo or 18mo old at the moment I feel a sense of relief that it does get easier!
@ohcaptain: C is getting too tall for his 0-3mo clothes too! I'm so glad our clothes are all hand-me-downs or gifts!
@Ms. RV: glad to hear you had good news!
I've been following the discussion about the wonder weeks, I think we went through one until earlier this week because he would hardly nap at all and was generally fussy but now he's back to napping somewhat normally.
C is a real grunter in his sleep and his crib is next to our bed. DH mentioned moving him to the nursery soon and getting a monitor because the grunting is keeping him up. Has anyone else moved LO to the nursery yet? I'm not sure how I feel about it.

@Ms. RV: so happy the cardiology appointment went well! And good luck with the weight loss! Cut out dairy and soy, it works wonders!
P had her 2 months appointment today, and she is still a tiny girl, but gaining along the curve, so no supplementing needed. Only 11th percentile still! Mspi is under control, we get to do our first challenge in a few weeks, with "cooked" butter. Fingers crossed!
In bad news, we have thrush. But it looks like a mild case, and we caught it early. P is now on nystatin, and I am on otc cream. If no improvement in me by Monday, I get prescription drugs. So this weekend we are sterilizing and washing everything. I am most mad that I have to throw out my EMAB nipple butter and get a new jar... That stuff is expensive!

@Mrs. Microscope: thrush sounds terrible! Hope it gets better quickly. What signs did you have? Well done with the mspi diet, I bet you're looking forward to that butter. I love butter
pear / 1788 posts
@kitty: first sign was thick white scum on P's tongue that won't wipe off. Then my nipple started hurting, and they are bright pink/red and a bit shiny. Glad we caught it early! And yes, butter sounds great... I plan to eat a croissant!

I don't mean to sound naive. We have a good sleeper, but I know that we too will have our fair share of sleep issues. However, I don't I understand. The past 3 nights she has been waking up so much more than usual. Last night she only slept for 4 hrs between 10:30 and 7am! It was brutal. She has always slept for 4-6 hr stretches at night. I don't know what the issue could be! She usually wakes up with gassy sounds at night so we give her gas drops, that's not new. The only changes this week have been an increase in the amount of formula she gets per day. 8 oz instead of 4 oz. And the swing. She naps in it during the day but not in the evening. But she has been napping better, yesterday was a great nap day! And the weather - it's much chillier than it has been. And we switched her RnP to the other side of the bed so I could keep her away from the drafty window. Experienced mommies, do you have any insight? It could be so many things and I have no idea how to figure it out.

@buttermilk: How old is she now? There's a growth spurt at 6 weeks and a wonder week around 8 weeks!

@Mrs. Microscope: Oh no, hope the thrush goes away soon!!
@Ms. RV: Yay, such good news!!! I'm about 4 lbs away from pre-pregnancy weight, but I haven't even attempted to try on real clothes yet. Yoga pants are my best friend. I'm assuming things wouldn't fit quite right yet because I need to start working out to tone and tighten everything, but...I'm too tired right now!

@Ms. RV: that's great news!
@Mrs. Microscope: oh no sorry to hear that!
@buttermilk: it may be the weather. M's sleep has got progressively worse over the past couple weeks. We put a heater in our room last night & he slept three 3 hour stretches. Which is the most ever. Apparently he was cold. We have central heat but our bedroom is the furthest from the furnace so we don't get much heat.
@kitty: we tried putting M in his crib for the first part of the night thinking he may sleep longer if he can't smell me but it didn't work out. Even though he's a noisy sleeper, I like having him close for now.
M had his 2 month appt last week. He's 13.5lbs & 24.5in! Weight wise he's pretty average but apparently he's long...95%!
nectarine / 2086 posts
@Portboston: it's been so warm in our room bc of the heat and yeah I was legit cold last night. Checked the thermostat in the morning and it was like 65. So we put the heat on and I dressed her in warmer pajamas tonight. Fingers crossed!

@buttermilk: my only insight is I never really had any effing clue except when teeth were errupting. My only advice is a)it will get better and b) you won't even remember this in such a short period of time. I can't believe my 3 year old was ever an infant
nectarine / 2086 posts
@OhCaptain: lol good to hear. we spent 3 hrs putting her back to sleep last night after she woke up with a dirty diaper but then she slept for 6 hours straight! made sure the room was warmer and I also moved the RnP back to my side of the bed.
nectarine / 2262 posts
I am also having the issues with a very noisy sleeper. I feel like I am losing about 2 more hours of sleep per night because before he actually wakes up in the night, he has about 45 mins to an hour of this cycle of 1-2 minutes of grunting, making weird sounds, thrashing around (all while asleep), then sleeps quietly for 5-8 minutes. Then does it again. And I'm awake the whole. time. But my husband apparently can sleep through it. So I don't know what to do about that.
I am freaking out about my houseguests. So BIL + SIL and their 10 yo son will be here for 4 nights. Then a week and a half later, my inlaws plus a different SIL will be here for a whole week. How I am going to do this with a little baby who doesn't sleep and cries all the time,, I have no idea...
@buttermilk sounds like our nights. The 1st wakeup is usually OK (by ok, I mean I'm up for an hour getting him back to sleep ) but the second one is terrible - we are up for 2-3 hours. And even if my husband takes him, I can't sleep if he's crying. And before each wakeup I'm up for an hour because of all the baby noises. I'm so tired.
persimmon / 1281 posts
@MrsADS: I have the same issue with baby noises....I lay there for at least 20 min before M wakes up because he is fussing in his bassinet. Im always so tempted to just pick him up and feed him but sometimes he will settle down again (and even when he does "wake up" he's never really awake...its usually dream feeding unless I have to change his diaper) I started turning the white noise up a little bit louder to drown out his grunts...its helping a little bit.
So we got the longest stretch of sleep EVER last night...4 hours and 40 minutes!!! WHOO! unfortunately, something I ate did not agree with me so I was up sick anyways. Im hoping it wasn't a fluke and will happen again tonight so i can finally get some sleep!!!!!
Also- I never in my wildest dreams thought I would be excited about getting FOUR hours of sleep. UGH.

@Portboston: way to go M!
@MrsADS: I will be thinking of you guys! Good luck!
I think our thrush is getting better! I'm in less pain, and breastfeeding doesn't hurt anymore. P's tongue isn't has scummy. Fingers crossed!
Also I accidentally ate a burger bun with butter on it! That was almost 48 hours ago, and no reaction from P! I don't plan to do a real trial until the end of the month, but this is promising

We've been having some good stretches of sleep at night here too! Usually between 5-6 hours, then she has a feed and a diaper change and then back to sleep for another 3-4 hours.
Just hoping Isla doesn't go through the 4 month sleep regression when the time comes, that was brutal with my first LO.
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
Yay for sleep!!! Glad everyone is seeing some improvements in that area! Last night, C slept from 10-6 and then 6:30-9! My toddler stayed with my mom last night, so I got to sleep that entire time too!!!! I have no words for how amazing that was
We were supposed to have our 2 month appt today, but we've had some serious rain and flooding here (literally ONE day with no rain in the past 12 days), so it was canceled. Hoping to reschedule for sometime this week.
apricot / 315 posts
@lilteacherbee: @mrsstar: how do you guys get those stretches of sleep? Do you do anything special or does it just happen? And when did it start? I'm still getting 2 hours or less at a time
nectarine / 2086 posts
@kitty: I'm no expert, and R has always been a good nighttime sleeper, but I think a key thing is baby being able to put themself back to sleep in between sleep cycles. You can practice putting them down drowsy but awake to teach them. That's what I do for naps.
nectarine / 2086 posts
@MrsADS: that sounds rough mama! have you thought about transitioning to the nursery? I can't imagine ever being ready for it, but maybe you'll both get more sleep?
pomelo / 5132 posts
L has been in the nursery since day 1, but it's right across the landing from our room (all of our bedrooms are next to each other.
@kitty: he's a good sleeper, and I don't do anything differently than my first, who wasn't the best sleeper!
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@kitty: Honestly, I think I'm just lucky. My first was a good sleeper too, but I don't know that I've done anything to make it happen. We do drowsy but awake most of the time (he almost never falls asleep nursing, which LO1 did all the time) and he sleeps next to the bed in the RnP, so whenever I hear him stir, I pop the paci back in and he's good.
But, here I am at 10:15pm with my 22 month old sleeping in my arms because he's woken up twice since his 8pm bedtime, sooo
nectarine / 2994 posts
@kitty: just pure luck so far. My oldest Lo was a good sleeper as an infant too (until the 4 month regression). I nurse Isla to sleep most of the time and then she cuddles on my chest until she's asleep and then I put her in her bassinet. During the day she also naps on me (this will change once we set her crib up in our room though).
It's working for us so far and I'm not worried about forming bad habits this early - I did the same things with my older LO and she's an amazing sleeper - once she got over the 4 month regression that is.
nectarine / 2086 posts
I agree about it being a lot of luck!!
@MrsStar: we do the same thing at night. Nurse to sleep and then DH usually quietly scoops her up and finishes rocking her to sleep and then places her in the bassinet. It often takes multiple times bc she wakes up after a couple minutes or instantly, but eventually it works!
For naps @OhCaptain: your advice really helped me! I didn't understand how I would ever figure out her sleepy cues but you're right. I started watching and now I got it! She has about 90 mins of awake time. As long as I catch the Cues and put her in the swing at the right time she just chills there and eventually falls asleep. Naps have been soooo much better. I even made beef stew during one of them yesterday. So thank you!
Now the thing is that all works until the evening usually when she seems to fight sleep more. We don't have a solid bedtime routine yet and we still just do a lot of nursing in the evening so I think she gets overtired maybe and that's why I can't just put her down awake at night? Idk I'm not rly sure what I should be doing this time of the day anyway.

This baby loves to have meltdowns whenever I take her out of the house by myself. Yesterday she freaked out mid walk in the Tula and I had to carry her outside of it, still crying, for 15 blocks lol. Today again in the stroller. Do they grow out of this?
Its hard to be upset with her though when I get her home and she starts smiling at me when I sing to her!! Love that I'm actually getting smiles out of her now!
kiwi / 696 posts
@buttermilk: they do! My son melted down in everything (car seat, carrier, stroller) from weeks 4-10. It felt like forever. But then...one day it was better!
nectarine / 2262 posts
@buttermilk so jealous of smiles! No smiles here yet (6 weeks).
Y'all, my baby (6 weeks old) has been napping for 3.5 hours so far! And it's been 4.5 hours since he nursed Should I wake him up?? I guess not, right? I am just worried he won't sleep tonight because (1) the long nap, and (2) because he hasn't nursed as much, he'll be up all night nursing.
Is a 3.5 hour nap normal?! He will take 2-3 hour naps (usually closer to 2), but wow. We did go to the grocery store and the bank today so maybe he's worn out?
nectarine / 2086 posts
@MrsADS: that hasn't happened much with me but when it does I just make sure she eats every 4 hrs. But you've had such a rough time, I would probably let him nap!
pomelo / 5607 posts
L slept so well last night y'all! 12-6:30, then 7:30-11! She pooed as I was pumping, so changing her after got her all awake, otherwise that awake stretch would have been shorter too. I'm so happy! She'd been lengthening that first sleep for a while, but consistently waking up every 1.5 hours after. So the longer stretch after was huge! I can totally live with just one wake up. Now I just have to actually push her bedtime earlier. I keep planning to, but I'm a total night owl so it keeps not happening.
pomelo / 5132 posts
When is bedtime for your babes? I can't remember when we made a real one for J...L goes down around 10-11.
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@Mrs. J: C goes down between 9:30-10ish these days. N had a 9:00 bedtime for a loooong time (like 3 months until 12 months and then we moved to 8ish).
persimmon / 1281 posts
@MrsADS: I was just wondering the same thing about long naps. I'm trying to google but everything in reading says not to wake them unless it's too close to their bed time. M has been asleep about 2.5hrs now and I don't want this long nap to affect his night time sleep. But I know he needs the rest so I don't want to wake him! I really don't know what to do & now wish I would have slept this 2.5hrs too but I keep thinking he'll wake up at any moment!
@Mrs. J: M usually goes down between 7-8.
nectarine / 2262 posts
@Portboston yeah I didn't wake him up. He woke up on his own about 3.5 hours. I figure at this age they need so much sleep - and I KNOW he's not getting it - that maybe sleep will beget sleep. I was more worried that the long naps mean less nursing during the day, which maybe = more nursing/awake at night.
nectarine / 2086 posts
@Mrs. J: currently between 9-10pm usually. I'm also wondering about establishing a bedtime and routine. Kinda thinking about moving her to the nursery next week but eeeeek I'm scared.
