@Glitter: I did my 3 hour GD test Friday too! I hope you pass. I felt fine just really hungry for mine. I made a collage of my blood draws. Lol

@Aandmklover: oh my that looks so painful!! When do you get your results? The results are emailed to my obgyn and my next appointment is on Tuesday so I should find out then. I have a serious sweet tooth so am really hoping that I passed and don't have to give up anything!

What did everyone do this weekend? Get any baby tasks done?

I went away with my family for a Zoo weekend. We spent the weened in Ohio and we went to the Columbus (Sunday) and Cincinnati (Saturday) Zoo's. We walked over 6 miles Saturday and over 4 today. I thought it was going to be really hard at 28/29 weeks but it felt really great actually. We are on our 4 hour car ride home now. My dad came with us too.

@Glitter: they are going to call me Monday or Tuesday with the results (I'm hoping Monday because I'm on pins and needles) I also have a pretty big sweet tooth and I don't mind my carbs. Plus it's already hard to prepare foods with two kids. Arg.

@OldpuebloJenn: You and your girl look so cute! I can't wait until my girl is here and old enough for me to take her on mommy/daughter hotel stays.

@Aandmklover: OMG! Four needle pricks??!? Yikes! How do you know if you need the one hour or three hour glucose test? I think I'm just getting the one hour test. I hope I don't need 4 needles. Although, after doing IVF, my tolerance for needles is quite high. But still... Ugh and yikes. In other more fun news... your zoo weekend looks great! So glad the walking felt good for you. I love the color of your little ones' hair. Is your husband a red head? And what is your natural color hair?

I have just been working on baby girl's room - which requires overhauling my entire house. I was up until 1:45 pm last night!! I just didn't want to stop. I went to IKEA today and got the kallax shelf thing that some of the August moms had been talking about. I can kind of start to visualize baby girl's room now that I'm getting the closet cleaned out. Phew.

@agold: most places do the one hour first which is one blood draw an hour after you drink the drink. You do not have to fast or anything. If you fail that test, which I did, then you have to do the 3 hour. The 3 hour you have to fast the 8-12 hour before then they do baseline draw then one and 1, 2 and 3 hours after drinking the drink.

My husband is a a natural red head. I have medium brown hair and my boys are strawberry blonde. My youngest had dark hair when he was born but it all fell out and grew in strawberry blonde and the older one has always been redish/strawberry blonde.

Progress always feels good and exhausting at this point.

@Aandmklover: I have similar bruises (one is almost a week old and still icky looking),". During the retest they tried to do all 4 draws from one vein and oh was my arm sore, I nearly teared up at draw 4 my arm just couldn't take it:(. I had my retest on Friday and found out that I passed Late Friday night. I also have a humongous sweet tooth and I passed with flying colors, yay! Hope you get good news soon too!

@Aandmklover: Thanks for explaining the test! I take mine on the 26th. And I love the strawberry blonde hair. Lucky kids. My husband and I both have read heads in our family and I'd be happy if our little girl has red hair. Although I'm expecting she'll be a brunette.

  11. Aandmklover

    kiwi / 506 posts

@MrsBeluga: congrats on passing. It's alway so stressful. I wonder why they wanted to use one vein. That seems silly to me. They used tiny butterfly ones and I still bruised.

@agold: genes are so weird. You never know what you're going to get. My older Son has beautiful bright blue eyes and my Husband and I have green and hazel. My best friends second Daughter has blonde straight hair and my Best Friend and her Husband are both brunettes with curly hair. Good luck with your test. I recommend eating eggs before you go. Keep it light. Not too many carbs or anything surgery.

I know recessive genes play a part too but it's so weird having kids that don't look like either of us.

@OldpuebloJenn: ahhh you two are too cute! what a great idea! hope you enjoyed the rest of your time there.

@Aandmklover: so adorable! glad you had a great trip!

I had a little weekend away with my husband, and while it was short, it was so so nice! I'm so glad we booked it, because it was so great to get away and have some one on one time.

Meanwhile, my least favorite pregnancy symptom has arrived (ok, maybe not my least favorite, there are a lot to choose from ) Started around the same time with my first pregnancy, I simply cannot sleep past 5:30am. Wide awake every single morning. Oh what I'd give to sleep till 6! I feel like it's my body's way of prepping for the newborn lack of sleep or something. I sleep fine all night, but 5:30, I'm so awake. and of course exhausted by 9am. BLECH.

    How's everyone else doing?

@Aandmklover: What a beautiful family! Looks like everyone had a great time!

@Pirouette: Glad you had a chance to get away for the weekend!

The sleep issues . . . man, there really isn't any kind of *sacred ground* during pregnancy. *augh* After a couple of busy weeks with a lot of time solo parenting, it was hard to wake up at my normal time this morning (I usually get up just before 5 and normally manage to beat my alarm by a minute or two). I did manage to finally kick myself out of bed by 5:15 so that I could still squeeze in a quick workout (desperately needed after a weekend of Oreos and Red Vines!), but it was rough. I think it might have been a little harder knowing that DH was flying out this morning too, and that I'm solo again until Friday night. I hate it just as much for him as I do for me. I also think that I was stress eating this weekend because I just felt overwhelmed. And so tired. All there is for me to do now is to take it one day/ task at a time, and to try to make it as easy on myself as possible. And I totally hear you about being exhausted by 9 a.m. . . . by the time I get to work (usually around 8), I feel like I have already run a marathon!

  14. agold

    grapefruit / 4045 posts

I've had the opposite sleep issues - I've stayed awake until past 1:00 am the last few nights organizing my house! That's crazy! But its all done with the exception of some plastic crates that will be stored in the garage on Friday when we, hopefully, will have one or two of those SafeRacks installed to hang from the ceiling. We have three large metal racks in the garage right now, but I'd like to get rid of one and the boxes up so I have ample room for strollers and getting baby in and out of car and such.

    grapefruit / 4717 posts

@Pirouette: @pwnstar: @agold: I'm just tired all the time and wake up for the bathroom maybe 2-4 times a night. Newest symptom though is that I keep waking up drenched in sweat. I normally run hot especially while sleeping, but this is getting ridiculous.

  16. agold

    grapefruit / 4045 posts

@pregnantbee: Oh, no. Waking up at night is the worst. Can you fall back asleep quickly?

@pregnantbee: I think you and I may be one and the same! Drenched in swear like it's post baby. What is going on?!?!

    pomegranate / 3331 posts

@pwnstar: ugh I'm sorry. My husband has been traveling a ton and I dread it SO SO much. I know how you're feeling and it's the worst. I hope the week goes quickly for both of you. and man, I've been so tired all day today! why wasn't I tired at 5:30???

@agold: sounds like you're in full on nesting mode!!

@pregnantbee: oh man, i remember that happening for weeks post partum and it was the absolute worst. i had to change several times a night!

  19. pregnantbee

    grapefruit / 4717 posts

@agold: Luckily I can fall asleep quickly, but it's still annoying

@dcw6411: Haha, I think I'm less smelly (maybe??) than post-partum, but I don't remember having this problem DURING pregnancy last time. Sorry you're dealing with it, too

  20. agold

    grapefruit / 4045 posts

@pregnantbee: For sure it is annoying.

Oh and randomly (or not) my niece has that "hand foot and mouth" disease. Fabulous. Should I be worried about it?

  21. agold

    grapefruit / 4045 posts

@Pirouette: Yes, I think I am in full nesting mode! It kicked in in full swing this weekend. I feel like I'm on cocaine or something, staying up all night organizing extra tooth brushes and finding places to put bags of batteries.

  22. Pirouette

    pomegranate / 3331 posts

@agold: Nope! my doc said absolutely nothing to worry about. not from a pregnancy perspective anyway. but it does suck, so try not to get it! and re the nesting, that's hilarious. I have that bug a little bit, but then i remember I woke up at 5:30 and just want to lie on the couch you can hit up my house next if you'd like! plenty of cleaning/organizing to be done!

  23. AprilFool

    nectarine / 2591 posts

@Pirouette: Yes! What is it about 5:30am? I don't even have to look at the clock, it's like I have an internal alarm.

  24. agold

    grapefruit / 4045 posts

@Pirouette: That's funny, but my reorganizing services are shut down for now. Phew. And yes, I'm so tired at this point right now that all I can think about is sneaking out of work early to go home and go to sleep.

  25. pregnantbee

    grapefruit / 4717 posts

@agold: @Pirouette: I really want baby's room to be done already. Husband has done a great job clearing out a ton of stuff. However, the remaining MASSIVE desk takes up so much space -- we need to figure out a way to get it out of the room especially since I can't really lift it. So the room is again a disaster area. Much better than when we started, but still aways to go.

However, I don't know if this is happening to the rest of you, but I suddenly felt like I couldn't live with my duvet cover anymore.....and that meant new bedroom curtains.....and a new shower curtain in the master bathroom.......

  26. agold

    grapefruit / 4045 posts

@pregnantbee: That's nice your husband is clearning out things. I'm sort of the master of everything at my house so I had to do all of that. But unfortunately, or fortunately, I just can lift anything so that's leaving quite a bit left for husband to do. Do you have another space in your house where you can put your desk?

That's so funny about your duvet cover. Please don't give me any ideas! I've just today purchased a few more furniture items online under the guise of "necessary storage solutions". They are nice things that will go in my own bedroom. And I think that I cannot live with my current bathroom/shower towels anymore.

  27. pregnantbee

    grapefruit / 4717 posts

@agold: Hahaha. I think my husband may be nesting more than I am. He also keeps buying plastic storage bins to sort and store everything in the garage or closets. The reason he is going through most of the stuff in the "office" (gonna be baby's room) is that most of it is his stuff, and I don't feel comfortable tossing or going through his things. I literally can't move the desk otherwise I would have already gotten it out of there. I'm antsy to get the rug down, work on decorating/art, etc.

  28. agold

    grapefruit / 4045 posts

@pregnantbee: Oh I wouldn't feel comfortable going through any of my husband's things either. But all he has are golf things and those are in the garage and he better sort it all out by Friday. Or I will die. Just kidding. He may die. Just kidding again!

@pwnstar: Ugh, sleep issues, I hear you. My first tri insomnia never really let up, so I think it's here to stay. Unisom helps me fall back to sleep when I wake up at least. I don't take it every night, because I feel weird about it for some reason. My doc said it would be fine, but I usually take it two or three times a week. Otherwise I feel like a zombie!

@OldpuebloJenn: such a cute photo, and a great idea!

@Aandmklover: awwww, looks like you guys had a great time! My husband is also a red head, and I would love for this little guy to be one, too. I have very dark hair, though, so not sure how likely that is. Although my cousin is like me, her husband is blond, and her daughter has blonde ringlets. So you never know!

My trip is very relaxing so far -- I'm doing a lot of walking on the beach and feeling really good. Definitely fewer BH now, so obviously work is the problem Everyone is dropping like flies with a cold, though, so I'm afraid it's inevitable... My mom and my uncle's GF were sick when they got here, now my sister and my dad are getting it. Ughhh, I'm hoping I get lucky, because they all have terrible coughs and that seems miserable, especially without being able to take a lot of meds! Fingers crossed....

@pregnantbee: you say duvet, I say new living room furniture. That I bought while my husband is gone! 🙈 It'll be delivered on Friday am, and he returns late that night, I'm thinking I just won't say anything and see if he actually notices!

    Aandmklover's pitty party time

I found out this morning I did not pass my 3 hour glucose tolerance test so I have been diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes. I'm pretty upset. Not only about major diet restrictions and changes and 4 blood test a day (like a true diabetic) but the fear that this could really hurt my baby.

@OldpuebloJenn: YOU WIN. Haha, that's awesome!

  34. pregnantbee

    grapefruit / 4717 posts

@Aandmklover: Oh, no! I'm so sorry to hear this I'm guessing that baby will be just fine as long as you stick to the GD diet and testing. So inconvenient, though. Hugs.

  35. agold

    grapefruit / 4045 posts

@OldpuebloJenn: Ha! You definitely win with that purchase!!

@Aandmklover: Oh, no. I'm so very sorry. The diet will suck. But I'm hoping your baby is okay. I feel like I've known lots of girls with GD and their babies are always born just fine. Hoping thats the case for you.

  36. OldpuebloJenn

@pregnantbee: I totally get your need for change though! If we hadn't just redone our bedroom a few months ago, I'd be on it!

@Aandmklover: hopefully you'll be able to regulate it with diet just fine, and baby will be healthy as can be! Hugs.

@Aandmklover: Hey. Popping in from October. I had GD last time. Let me know if you have any questions. Mine was diet controlled and I had an unmedicated vaginal birth at 40+3. My daughter was 7 lbs, 10.5 oz. the blood pricks are not bad at all. My husband is diabetic so we did the diet together. You really will feel better when your blood sugar is under control. I also did not have to give up carbs completely.
