    @stratosphere: Beautiful bump!

@mossyslane: I hope you feel better, and that it's just a random problem and not a long-term one! I have definitely been itchier this pregnancy than I was during my first. I will never understand why pregnancy is not more symbiotic!

@MrsSCB: It took many (many!) lists and a lot of eye rolling (on my part), but we do have a name. Love Finian/Finn!

@MrsSCB: we have a long list! Being Team Green is not helping. I've got about 8 girls names and three boy names. I feel I should get to pick this name, as my husband picked DD's name. (We were team green for her too, and I was positive she was a boy and I had a boy name I felt super strong about (that I no longer do), so I let him pick the girl name).
We took 2 girl names and 1 boy into delivery with us last time, I'm guessing it'll be similar again this time.

@OldpuebloJenn: we were team green last time and took 3 of each name in. My Husband finally caved and picked the name that was at the TOP of my list. It was pretty awesome.

We've named our guy. He will be
    Wes Oliver Thomas Lastname

All our boys have a 3 letter first names and 2 middle names

    @pregnantbee: its a wrap like a Moby but thinner/different material. I've also thought about a k'tan Breeze

@Aandmklover: Hooray for finding a name. Hard pattern to keep following -- awesome that you found something you love and that works!

ETA: Hmmm. I don't know that I would be able to handle just a length of fabric. I had no patience with the Moby. Thanks for the details!

Hi all, checking in as I wait to see the doc for a regular check up. Things are hectic outside of pregnancy but going well otherwise. Only complaint has been searing rib pain on my left side that happens randomly, but most notably in the middle of the night! Hoping to get a script for some PT or some other suggestion to try and ease that.

No news on the name front. Margaret will definitely be in there somehow but not sure on the rest. We call her Fidget for now. Hope all of you are having tons of fun!

@pregnantbee: Have you thought about trying a Mei Tai? There's some tying involved, but it's pretty minimal. And they kind of run the gamut price-wise. You can get them as low as ~$30 at Target, or you can get semi-custom wrap conversions on Etsy (I like Topatop) for $120+. And there's options in between. Personally, I feel like my wrap conversion mei tai is the best of all worlds - not complicated to put on like a wrap is, but still made out of the comfy supported wrap material. But everyone is different when it comes to baby carriers :).

For names, we are decided on Lily. A few days ago DH did say the name Charlotte was growing on him, but I think it's gotten too popular. Plus, I'm not big on people shortening and calling her "char".

@stratosphere: you look great! Is your bathing suit regular or maternity? I'm going out of town next weekend and need to see if my normal suits still fit. Praying they do.

@pregnantbee: I'm nervous about wraps that require knowledge of tying too! I heard about a lady who shopped around Costco with her newborn in a wrap thing and when she got to her car the baby was dead. so to be honest, I don't even think I will baby wearing. I don't even know why I registered for such a thing. But regarding the Ergo, isn't there an infant insert you can buy?

@Aandmklover: I love the name you chose!

My pregnancy complaints - bleeding nose, bleeding gums, acid reflux and now... Night time swelling ankles. I totally never imagined I'd be someone who would experience the last two.

As for names, Emilia is still the only one being considered but I think it's because we are too lazy to think of anything else. And I just still love that name. Did anyone watch game of thrones this weekend? Emilia Clarke is gorgeous!

@agold: That's so scary. She wasn't doing it right. I think you may change your mind about baby wearing at all. As @ShootingStar: said, there is something for everyone. I loved, loved, loved the Ergo. It's really hard to get it wrong. It's fast to put on, easy to put baby in. There is an infant insert, but from what I understand, it's hot for baby and a PIA to put in, so I didn't bother getting it.

I'm thinking I may give the Ergo to my husband to use and then get another soft structured carrier for myself b/c I'd really like him to wear baby more (he wants to, too!), and I don't want to adjust the straps between us every time we switch off. We just have a boring black one. And I can get pretty patterns in the other types of SSCs

Still stuck on newborn carriers, but I'll look at the conversion wrap @ShootingStar: mentioned above.

ETA: The name Emilia is so pretty. I don't watch GOT, but I really should!

@pregnantbee: You can use them with newborns too 😊. Check out Wrapping Rachel on YouTube, she's got a good tutorial on using a mei tai with a newborn. I'd link but mobile at the moment.

  15. pregnantbee

    grapefruit / 4717 posts

@ShootingStar: So I just looked it up.....and I think I could actually use that. Seems way way less complicated than a Moby or other wrap that is just a length of fabric.

Is a "wrap conversion mei tai" different from just whatever they sell at meitaibaby.com?

  16. ShootingStar

    coconut / 8472 posts

@pregnantbee: Yup, they're a little different. The fabrics are different and the construction is a little different. The fabric on wrap conversions are made from a baby wearing wrap. Non conversions are usually made from cotton and some sturdy fabric, like duck cloth. The mei tai baby ones will have more layers of construction in the panel and in the straps. The straps are also narrower. Mine is pretty much one layer of fabric all over, and the straps are wider and flared.

I had a catbird baby one which was pretty good and very similar to the mei tai baby ones. Once I realized that type of carrier was perfect for me, I decided to upgrade to a wrap conversion and I definitely fine it more comfortable. But again - everyone's different! Some people love buckle carriers and can use them for hours on end. 30 minutes in one and I'm done.

Pic of me and DS at 4m. It was new and I hadn't realized the straps should be more spread out...

@pregnantbee: Thanks for those thoughts. I can imagine that my husband will like wearing the baby in the ergo. None of my close family or friends have ever gone the baby wearing route. But there is a girl in church who wore her infant for a bit. So I am very interested.

As for the name Emilia, the actress is Emilia Clarke. She plays Daenerys Targaryen. I asked my husband if we could name our girl Daenerys, but he said "no." But because of her, I imagine the name Emilia as going with a brunette or a blonde which is great because I don't know which way baby girl will turn out (either by birth, or later, by choice.)

@T.H.O.U.: I love suits! And love that they call her Scottie!

@pregnantbee: I had great luck with j.crew pants this time. The ones I'm struggling with today are Paige, but luckily I got them on sale from amazon so I don't feel bad about the fact that this is likely the last time I'm going to deal with them.
Hopefully it continues to warm up around here so I can transition in skirts/dresses more.

    @pregnantbee: Heeeeeyyyyyy, sexy lady!!!

@Silva: can you please tell me which j crew pants you got? I'm really really having a hard time with finding any maternity clothes that I like. I hated shopping for my body before pregnancy because I'm hippy. Now, thank god hips haven't changed, but throwing in a growing baby bump on top of it - or, in between them, I should say - really just makes my hips look huge! I almost wish the bump was the same width as my hips, but oh my gosh I really can't imagine that. Either way... can you share the jcrew pants you got? Also, the paige jeans. I was thinking of getting some with just side elastic. And yes to skirts and dresses. I just got a maxi dress by Tart but haven't tried it on yet. Hope its fine.

@pregnantbee: OMG! 30 weeks!!! Time is totally flying. I told my husband last night that I really just don't enjoy being pregnant and I'm hoping the last few months continue to fly by, but then i also feel guilty for not enjoying it more. He was like "don't worry, I'm looking forward to it being over too" (am i that cranky? lol) I'm also filled with dread about being massively pregnant all summer

@agold: Aw, thanks! The bathing suit is non-maternity - JCrew. Got it while they were having a 30% off sale just before I left for the babymoon. My pre-pregnancy bathing suit bottoms are all too snug now, so I needed to size up in the bottoms, hence needing a new suit!

@agold: for some reason I got good deals on the j.crew pants- I think I paid like 50.00 for the more casual pair, and around 100.00 for the black ones? they seem like a lot more $$ now than I remember spending. I am probably a 26 (on a good day) or 27 pre pregnancy and went with a 27 and they have both been awesome.

these (I got them in black and wear them to work):

You guys, I haven't even been following along because I usually like to HB during the evenings but with DH not around it's just not possible. I have been SO tired. Solo parenting is no joke. I really have a newfound appreciation for single parents now. We're on day 11 days of DH working straight and the kids have seen him a grand total of about an hour since that time started. He was supposed to be off tomorrow, but surprise surprise, that's not happening.

Anyways, I'm surviving though! Baby seems to be doing well. I have my 28 week appointment tomorrow and am looking forward to it because it's with the midwife that delivered DD and I haven't really seen her this pregnancy because she has been on maternity leave with her own #3. It will be fun to catch up.

Otherwise, not much happening over here. I realized the other night that in a few weeks I need to start up my freezer meal stash - that is crazy! How are we already in the final trimester?

  36. agold

    grapefruit / 4045 posts

@Silva: you found some awesome deals on your pants!! I'm going to look into the jcrew pants tonight. As for the paige jeans, those are exactly the type I wanted to get!! I was seeing them for about $200 which is why I haven't bought them yet. I'm still able to comfortably fit into a pair of AG skinny legging type jeans. I'm wearing them to work today because its just one of two pants I have that I can wear right now!

@stratosphere: Seems like jcrew is popular with this group of girls! Good to know you just sized up on the bottoms. I think I will have to size up on the top. I will try it on tonight in case I need to order something online.

@coopsmama: Glad baby is doing well. And good thought on a freezer stash of food!!

I'm so curious about the phrase "solo parenting". My husband works nights so I already know I will be on my own more or less half of the week with the baby. But I would never consider myself a "solo" parent, or even think to compare it to a single parent. Where did this term "solo parenting" pop up from, and when did it come around because I haven't really heard it from anywhere other than here on hellobee. Single parenting seems totally different than when one parent is just away working. When I think of a tough single parenting situation, I think of dead beat dads, widowed women, or women who in general are totally on their own. But I know that even though my husband will be away 3+ nights out of the week, he will still be there to handle plumbing issues if they arise and I will still get his paychecks into my bank account to help with all the bills. But if I have to bathe the kids at night myself, or feed them all their meals each day myself, will this make me a "solo parent"? I have never even thought of it that way.

  37. OldpuebloJenn

    kiwi / 595 posts

@agold: I use solo parenting to describe the stretches when DH is out of town. He travels for work 5-6x a year for 2-3 weeks at a time. I'm also the primary caregiver, as I'm a SAHM, but for me, solo parenting best describes the times when he doesn't come home, or comes and leaves while DD is asleep.
The term is to really differentiate from single parenting, because as tough as my solo times can be- it's nothing compared to the day in and out of single parenting.

  38. agold

    grapefruit / 4045 posts

@OldpuebloJenn: Got it. Is there a time when moms don't "solo" parent. I mean, are there husbands that are home all the time to help with the kids? I just don't think I ever have thought my husband will be there with the kids when I'm there. But maybe it will change once the baby is here. My sister and her husband have always bathed my niece together, as in my sister needs her husband's help. That blows my mind. Even when my husband is away, I can call him so I just don't think I will ever consider myself in some exceptional circumstance because I'm with the baby by myself for an extended period of time. But maybe I'm missing out on a husband who is home all the time!

  39. OldpuebloJenn

    kiwi / 595 posts

@agold: most of the time, when DH is in town, with few exceptions, he tries to be home by 6, to help DD with dinner, play, bath and bedtime. Then if he needs (which is more often than not), he logs back into work after we eat. Plus, he does a lot on weekends to free my time, like he takes her to soccer and lunch on Sat mornings. We've made his time as dad a priority, but I'm well aware many many work situations do not allow for that. you'll figure out what's necessary for YOU and for baby soon enough, maybe that's saving baths for the days he's home, or doing a bedtime FaceTime session.

  40. pwnstar

    pear / 1718 posts

@coopsmama: That really sucks. I am solo parenting this week, and between work (which has been extra demanding) and managing everything else, I am exhausted and totally burned out. Big hugs to you!

@agold: Your idea of what constitutes a tough parenting situation will very likely change when your LO arrives.
