@pregnantbee: haha my husband has rearranged the living room furniture 3 times in the past week and last night moved it back to where it started! My poor lo is so confused every morning when the couch and tv is in a different place

@OldpuebloJenn: omg too funny! I can't wait to hear his reaction!

@Aandmklover: oh I'm so sorry. I'm sure you and baby are going to be just fine!

Has anyone ever dealt with sciatic nerve pain? I'm having this sharp pain in my left butt cheek all of the sudden tonight and am worried this is going to last the rest of pregnancy! Does this sound like the sciatic nerve? It's not shooting down my back or leg.

@Pirouette: Haha you actually made me laugh out loud. Awesome. And sorry you're experiencing such pain. Not sure about sciatic pain - maybe the others will chime in.

@pregnantbee: thanks...I'm so hoping I just overdid it with exercise or something. Or it could be from the way I'm sitting at work. Hoping it's something I can change! And yea, I've been laughing all week at this madness...I really don't care where the couch is, as long as he doesn't go trying to replace it!

@Pirouette: yes that's what mine felt like. Lots of stretching. It came and went for me, I think depending on baby position.

@avivoca: thank you. I hate diets in general, I don't do them so to be forced into one stinks.

@Pirouette: I had SNP with my first pregnancy. Mine only lasted a few days during my 32nd week of pregnancy. I hope you feel better.

@T.H.O.U.: @Aandmklover: ugh thanks. I've been trying to stretch a bit tonight and baby is going nuts, so I'm guessing he's right there on the nerve. Move, baby move! I really hope it's just a few days!

  7. pregnantbee

@Pirouette: I hope baby moves. If it makes you feel better, my baby is no longer standing on my bladder. I think she shifted. So it's possible.

@pregnantbee: thanks, i hope so! He still has plenty of time to flip, and apparently he went from head down back to sideways between my last 2 appts, so he's definitely not settled in yet. I'm so glad baby girl got off your bladder!!

What are your favorite baby carriers? We have the ergo, but I was thinking this time to get a soft wrap or sling.... Thoughts? Favorites? The Maya Wrap colors are great! I recently saw a mom wearing a K'tan and it looked so easy I was in love!

@MrsBeluga: Ooh, good question! I've registered for a Lillebaby and K'tan based on reviews from friends and HB, but I'd love to hear more about what everyone prefers! The biggest downside of the K'tan, and this may be true for other similar carriers, is that it comes in sizes, so my DH and I can't share one.

@MrsBeluga: We have a Tula and I bought a Solly Baby wrap for this LO

@MrsBeluga: I have a moby, a Maya wrap and an ergo. Love them all.

ETA: if your community has a carrier lending library, that's a great way to try without buying. Check Facebook and/or le leche.

Oh wow... Carrier topic! I had no idea and its so hard to tell based on people's recommendations because everyone is going to have their own personal preference.

@MrsSCB: Good to know that the K'tan has a sizing issue.

I registered for "ergobaby original" (which is what I feel like I see so many people use), and boba wrap. No clue is these are good choices!!!

  14. MrsBeluga

@agold: We have the ergo and it is wonderful. I could wear my daughter comfortably for hours in it until she was about a year and a half old. I am sure we could have lasted longer but I never got the hang of the back carry. Two reasons for wanting at least another carrier, first it gets very hot and sweaty carrying a baby in the ergo for extended periods of time, and along those same lines I want something that has less fabric and less buckles too - something easy to just throw on and off.

  15. MrsBeluga

    apricot / 442 posts

@AprilFool: The Tula fabrics are so adorable!!!! We have an ergo already, if I didn't, I would be Tula all the way!

I have (and love!) my Beco Gemini. I also bought a Solly wrap for this baby.

@MrsBeluga: The patterns are most of the reason I chose a Tula over an ergo haha

  18. MrsSCB

    pomelo / 5257 posts

@agold: yes, it comes in different sizes, so I put an XS on the registry. But then I realized that would not work for my husband! The lillebaby would fit either of us.

  19. T.H.O.U.

    wonderful clementine / 24134 posts

@agold: I have the Ergo performance because I am in FL. It's not terribly hot. DH can use it too.

The Moby wrap is nice but hard to put on (I only got the hang of it at home). Only good up until liken 15 lbs

  20. AprilFool

    nectarine / 2591 posts

@MrsSCB: The Solly only comes in one size so would work for you and DH

@MrsBeluga: we used the boba 3g last time and loved it. I didn't like the k'tan, I felt like it stretched and never felt really secure (its entirely possible it was the wrong size or something- other people love them).
I got a mei-tai style wrap and really liked that, too.

This time I got a ring sling and a woven wrap from the facebook swap to try out as little gifts to myself. I'm thinking the ring sling will work well for quick ups/newborn snuggling/grocery store stuff, and the woven wrap can be for longer wearing at home. My husband will likely still use the boba, and I may too for walks outside, etc.

@T.H.O.U.: depending on the hold with the moby, it can go up to 30lb I think. I wore my daughter with a back carry hold in the moby till she was 2.5. I would wrap at home, and go out with it on, it was easier that way for me.

  23. MrsSCB

    pomelo / 5257 posts

@AprilFool: Thanks, I don't know too much about the Solly yet. I'll have to look into it!

I just saw there is a Babywearing International group that meets near where I live. I might go to see if I can try anything out and just meet other moms or moms-to-be

  24. agold

    grapefruit / 4045 posts

    @MrsBeluga: Thanks for that info!

@T.H.O.U.: I didn't know there were different versions of the Ergo. I just registered for the one that I saw in the store. I sort of like registering for things that are available in the store, as opposed to online only. So maybe if someone ends up buying me the ergo, i will try to exchange it for the one you are talking about because I'm in southern california and in a specific part of my particular county that gets hotter than anywhere else! As for the moby, I was at a party recently and saw a girl who had a tiny baby wrapped up and tied to her!! I actually didn't even notice the baby the first few times I passed this girl. I was so impressed that the girl had the baby like that for the entirety of the party!!

We have an ergobaby and Tulas. (And a few other things too) The ergo baby is smaller and has more fabric. Both my boys were small so they fit in the ergo without an insert faster than the Tula. We use our Tulas daily now.

I'm really interested in a lightweight wrap for when this guy gets here because it will be hot summer. I'm thinking maybe a solly.

I have a few different carriers. My all time favorite is a wrap conversion Mei Tai made from Girasol Frigga Fuschia. It's so pretty and so supportive. I also bought a pink Solly wrap that I can't wait to try out.

I also have a Beco Soleil, a linen ring sling, and DH has a Beco Gemini. I don't really like the Soleil and would love to try a Tula and a Lillebaby, but I'm not sure it's worth trading out since I may just not be a buckle carrier person.

Hi ladies! Back from our Babymoon in Hawaii and digging out from under a pile of work, but it was so worth it! Really got to reconnect with DH and spend a ton of quality time with LO, who is 21 months now and getting to an absolutely adorable age where she is saying the most hilarious things and making up new words to songs and things that make it more fun than ever to get to spend all day with her for over a week! On the downside she got roseola for the first four days of the trip (and since she's had a febrile seizure before we had to dose her with Motrin around the clock to try to control the high fever and avoid another one). But we still had a week of vacay left after she recovered so I felt sooo happy that I'd booked an unreasonably long (in my DH's eyes) trip in the first place.

My belly, though! I think with all the rest and vacation food it must have grown a few inches just on the trip. It is getting so hard to get up from sitting on the floor (or a pool chair)!

@stratosphere: Hiiii! I'm glad you had a great vacation and am sorry that LO was sick for the beginning. That's no fun! I looooove your bathing suit, and your bump looks adorable!

I have no idea what I'm doing for wraps/carriers. I LOVED our Ergo last time, but couldn't use it until DS was maybe 3 months old. I also had a Moby wrap at the time, but I loathed it and gave it away to a friend. I'm a little wary of getting a wrap that truly requires knowledge of tying and different types of carries b/c I don't know if I'd be able to commit to that. My sister lent me a K'tan that seems reasonable. Another friend gave me a HotSling that I have no idea how to use.

I'm thinking about maybe a Sakura Bloom ring sling? I also have no idea how to use it.

I definitely need something that will work well for newborn days at least until I can wear the Ergo again. And bonus points if it's not too hot since it will be SO hot here in Aug-Oct.

    Other ideas?

@stratosphere: so cute!! Glad you were able to enjoy the last part of your vacation!

@pregnantbee: I got a ring sling for this baby which I've never use before. I also have a Fidella FlyTai in the original size but I'd really like it in the baby size and I wouldn't mind a Solly wrap. My husband kind of supports my babywearing habits.

Hi all, been off HB for awhile with lots of life/job busyness but man does it feel like my pregnancy is truly hitting the fan lately. I'm 29 w 4d, and nothing to complain about in the big scheme of things but with the three hour glucose tomorrow morning (failed the one hour), stomach side effects from taking iron supplements since I'm low iron, a weird rash on my stomach that I'm fearing may be ringworm, and just overall overwhelmedness, I'm feeling complainy ! Sending you all bright, healthy wishes...

@Aandmklover: Is the Solly wrap similar to a K'Tan or is it just a length of fabric that you have to be a magician to make work?

@pregnantbee: Thank you, yes, temporary is a good reminder:)

@stratosphere: You look amazing! I'm at the beach this week, but sadly it has not been warm enough for a bathing suit. Still better than being at work, though

@mossyslane: Hi again! Sorry you're not feeling great, hopefully things start to improve. And good luck on the test!

Where is everyone on names? Fully decided? Have a shortlist? Or still no idea? I think we're closest to the third camp...although we have a Google doc list that we both have been adding stuff to. I'm really liking Finian these days, nickname Finn. Goes well with my very Irish name and my husband's last name (which will be the baby's last name). Still not really settled on a number one choice yet. I think we may end up taking a short list to the hospital and deciding then. For now we're just calling him Buster

  39. pregnantbee

    grapefruit / 4717 posts

@mossyslane: I actually already googled that a couple months ago b/c I had a similar itch/rash. Didn't like the results! ETA: I had gotten the same search results you did. Luckily the rash disappeared on its own.

@MrsSCB: Hahaha. I love the name Finn. I think we have a finalist, but I'd feel more comfortable if we had a backup just in case she doesn't look like our chosen name. Sorry, not going to share before birth.

ETA: Right now she is Sweet Pea
