@dcw6411: There are medications that are supposed to help/stop preterm contractions. Is there anything else like that the doctor can do for you?

@JoJoGirl: Thank you I love that this thread is so active, it is definitely helping with my boredom!

@dcw6411: It has been tough since we moved here. I am so used to having family surround us. We have been very isolated. So far my HG hasn't reared its ugly head and I hope it stays that way. I am pretty much the only caregiver/homemaker available. Today I am taking time for me. I get so caught up caring for my boys, our animals, and our home that I forget to take care of me.

@ShootingStar: He said it is too early for the ones that they would prescribe later on. He put me on progesterone twice daily in an attempt to calm my uterus down. Hopefully it works! I was on another medication one with my last pregnancy but that wasn't until about 27 weeks. Apparently, my uterus just enjoys being grumpy!

@MrsRcCar: Yep, I do the same. My DH is in law enforcement assigned to a federal taskforce and his schedule is insane. Luckily I do have my in laws in the town next to us, but they normally are unavailable to help due to work. Luckily this week is still Christmas break here and they are off. Thank goodness. How old are your boys? When did you move? I can't imagine how hard that is.

It is so hard to put yourself first. This is definitely my biggest struggle and something I want to work on for 2016. I know that I can be a better momma when I take some time for me. Today I said screw it to our monthly budget and called in some house cleaners. I can't clean, DH needs to be 100% with the kids when he is home this weekend, and the growing nastiness in my bathrooms was going to throw me over the edge!

@dcw6411: i'm happy to send it to you if you need something to watch while you're resting! because if i have to watch that damn movie one more time haha, it's a great movie, but my LO has a tendency to pick one movie she has to watch until she's memorized every single word!

@Pirouette: Haha, my DD is the same. She loves the movie Despicable Me and can recite every word. I have 15 movies taped for rainy days and all she ever wants to watch is that movie!

@dcw6411: N is 3. E will be 2 next month. We moved in June so we have been on this crazy schedule for more then 6 months now. Prior to living here we lived with my parents to help them renovate their home. My job ended because the provider retired and DH decided it was time to go back to school. So we moved 3 hours away (minimum) to better our lives, but it has been incredibly hard.

I know that these are the weeks for some extra cramping due to the uterus stretching out but is it normal to have lower back pain? I'm wondering if I just slept on it wrong but it's quite annoying Yesterday it was almost like sharp sciatica pain here and there and today it's just pretty sore. All these changes!

@mrschickpea: Hi! Not sure about lower back pain? Maybe you slept on it funny? May be worth a message to the dr?

  13. mrschickpea

    clementine / 928 posts

@pregnantbee: yeah, I'm going to call in the morning a talk to a nurse! It's better and I did the unthinkable and Dr. Googled It could just be my growing uterus pushing out that way and crunching on a few of my nerves. but I'll definately call!

@mrschickpea: Back away from the Dr. Google (Hi, pot. I'm kettle. Nice to meet you.) There are no dumb questions -- they hear everything. If you feel any doubt or concern, call. They'll also be able to tell you if it's ok to put a heating pad on, etc. I'm not sure about the rules on that. Just don't go into a commercial hot tub b/c the water is too hot for the baking babe.

@dcw6411: How are you doing on bed rest? Did you kids actually leave your house to go stay at your ILs for the week? And you have the whole house quiet to yourself? Sounds wonderful actually.

So I've actually joined you on the bed rest team. At my ultrasound today my doctor told me one week of bed rest and I'm going week by week. This is posing a problem with my work, but there's not much I can do. My husband drove me by my office to gather some stuff to work on at home, and I came home with full intent to work from the couch, but promptly crawled into bed and slept for hours. Oy vey. I'm still having bleeding, but the source of the bleeding seems to be getting smaller. I heard the heart beat, but they didn't get a measurement of it. Last week the baby measured 6w0d and today, a week later, the baby measured 6w5d. Anyone think this is a problem? The doctor said its not an issue, that maybe the nurse measured too big last week. So anyhow, I'm still in the "trying to worry" camp.

@pwnstar: I love the thought of not telling people and just showing up visibly pregnant! I'm leaning towards not making any sort of announcement on instagram and just sort of letting people find out on their own.

@coopsmama: and @HLK208: You both have the cutest bumps!! I guess with your third and fourth child, you can't help but show a little more! I think its awesome!

@MrsKerch: Welcome, and congrats on seeing the heartbeat!

@agold: Awww, I'm so sorry to hear this, and I'm still pulling for you. One day at a time. So now it's good that you already told work I hope they will be lenient or that you have enough time saved to use it for time off. And at least you have some virtual company here. I have no idea re: the baby's growth. I'd imagine they'll keep doing scans. Deep breaths and one day at a time. Hugs.

  17. Pirouette

    pomegranate / 3331 posts

@agold: I'm sorry you're on bed rest too but those measurements are nothing to worry about, that I know. The measurements are so tiny at this stage that they are inexact. Thus is why you don't date the pregnancy until 8ish weeks. (Source: I measured a few days behind at my 6w ultrasound with my first, and my doctor explained this.)

@pregnantbee: Luckily or not, my company is sort of on the smaller side and has no sort of leave requirements or whatever. So I'm off for this week and it wont interrupt my pay. After all, I'm "working from home." Whatever that means. My productivity level drops like 90%. Especially since my husband will be home now until Saturday night.

@dcw6411: My husband has a similar job. His coworkers have been actually so excited and supportive. But still, tough when they are gone.

@Pirouette: Thank you so much for the encouraging words. That is something else I was told today but had forgotten - that the baby is just so small and measurements are hard to get precise. Thanks for reminding me!

@agold: oh gosh, I hope bedrest stops the bleeding! I'm so sorry - that has to be scary

    apricot / 382 posts

@agold: Oh no. I am so sorry you have joined me on bed rest. I am so hopeful that this works for you and that the bleed continues to shrink in size. My kids are almost 2 and 3 so they have been going to grandparents during the day and returning here just before bed time. My in laws live about a 1/2 hour away so it isn't too bad. Honestly, I thought the quiet house would be nice but I am already over it. It has gotten so lonely. I miss my kids and my DH. I am so happy your DH will be home with you for a bit to keep you company. I think it will really help.

So what does your DH do? That is SO good that his coworkers are supportive!! It makes a big difference. My DH's immediate coworkers are definitely supportive, it upper brass that are more focused on other things. Unfortunately, he was scheduled to go out of state for a training last March and the day he was set to leave my DD got admitted to our local children's hospital with a bad case of pneumonia. They totally understood, but obviously they lost a decent amount of $ on his plane ticket, training fees, hotel room, etc. He is worried they won't be quite as understanding if he has to leave from this training. But, it is what it is, and we know they will get over it...eventually

How are you feeling after some extra rest? You are already on progesterone, right?

@mrschickpea: Thank you! I hope your back pain eases up. I have found that when I sleep really hard and I don't move much at night my left lower back aches a bit. Hopefully it is just from weird sleep.

Back pain much better today! Super nauseous and I'm still waiting that required hour before I can eat for my thyroid meds It's torture! So hangry!!!

@agold: sorry about your bed rest. That's great that you can work from home in the meantime though! I totally understand working for a small company, I work with 4 other people on a 24-hour staffed job When one of us is out, someone HAS to cover it. Hopefully by the time I take my maternity leave they will have hired our second part-timer to pick up some of my shifts.

@agold: @dcw6411: Hope you lovelies are doing well today!

@HLK208: @coopsmama: Your bumps are so cute! I am hoping to be able to keep this baby under wraps for at least a few more weeks (until the CVS results are in) . . . I have a great work family, but everything is moving 100 mph right now, and I don't want to add extra stress when I announce (if possible).

Had the first u/s yesterday. Baby measured 7w2d (heart rate 145), but because it didn't make more than a 5 day difference in my due date, they kept my due date the same. Everything looked good, and tech confirmed there was only one (always good to know!).

Ok, I caved and wore maternity pants today. I have a flowy shirt and cardigan kind of covering it up. I hope .

@pwnstar: Is there a reason why you went right to CVS instead of doing MaterniT21 or something similar?

@agold: I'm honestly not sure how worried you should be. I know my RE's office doesn't do ultrasounds until 7w because they can be unreliable. They do 3 or 4 betas every few days, and then you do the ultrasound at 7w. It sounds like your practice runs things differently. But I know you're supposed to be a few days ahead of me and I'm 7.5 weeks (though baby won't be measured until 8w on Monday). I'm really hoping for you that baby's growth picks up and that things work out.

@agold: @dcw6411: Hugs to you both! It must be so difficult!

@mrschickpea: I have been having some back pain too, but I also have a fusion in my low back, so I'm not sure if it's from that or being pregnant lol

@pwnstar: So glad you had a good ultrasound!

  30. pwnstar

@ShootingStar: Yes. I want confirmation that everything is okay. I don't want to deal in percentages or probabilities. I had an elective amnio performed during my first pregnancy, but I would have opted for a CVS if it had been available.

@mrschickpea: I'm hoping that my work will get someone part time as well. And yes, I can do some work from home. But my husband is also home and its so hard to focus!

@HLK208: @pwnstar: @CoffeeMom: Thanks for the sweet words, girls!

@ShootingStar: Thanks so much. And yes, I'm thinking that the measurements maybe just aren't so precise at this point. So I'm not with a regular OB. I'm with an RE at the moment since I, apparently after a few years of trying, needed IVF to get pregnant. I will have weekly ultrasounds until 12 weeks, which is when I leave the RE for good.

@pwnstar: That sounds like a great ultrasound!

@dcw6411: Mine's in law enforcement, too. Is your husband doing ICE training? I know some people leaving for that in March of this year. Its such a hard thing them for the guys to be interrupted with their jobs repeatedly. But its great that we have guys willing to do it! As for my bed rest, I have found that I can actually do really good with bed rest! I welcome it! I just have to get past the not being able to move my body much. But I've already been on a no exercise restriction since December 4th. Its my stupid work that's making the bed rest hard. I just want to lay in bed and watch shows, but I'm having to actually work - create documents, write emails, conference calls. Its crazy. Luckily my work people aren't bothering me. But I know I need to get this stuff done.

@ShootingStar: Welcome to the club! Soooo much better, right?

@mrschickpea: So glad your back pain is better today. I hope it stays that way.

@pwnstar: Congrats on a great ultrasound! So exciting. I'm in the same boat with no EDD change even though I think it should be changed And yay for only 1. That was also one of my biggest fears. I'm only going to move on to amnio or CVS if the results from the early blood test and NT scan seem questionable.

@agold: I hope you're doing well today. I'm sorry you have to actual work from bed, but at least you can and don't have to use actual time off.

@dcw6411: How are you doing today? Thinking of you.

Went to the doctors today to rule out kidney infection. I have chronic kidney issues when I am pregnant. They also seem to conclude that my bleed is coming from my hematoma. I am hoping that it concludes soon. I am so over this bleed issue. My boys are going stir crazy at home. We generally are out all week but not this week. I am hoping we can resume our normal activities next week.

@agold: Awe a fellow LEO wife My DH is detective with a local agency but is currently assigned full time to a federal taskforce that works on internet crimes against children. He is gone frequently for training. No ICE for us, but I commend those guys that do it. I am glad that bed rest is helpful for you! I think I would enjoy it more if I had something to work on. I get bored just sitting around. The kids keep me company last night and this morning so that was nice.

@pregnantbee: I am hanging in there! Thank you for checking on me.

@MrsRcCar: I am sure it is a bit relieving that your kidney seems ok, but I am so sorry about the bleeding. I totally understand the awful feeling. I hope it stops and that you and the boys can get out and play. Do you take both of the boys to your appointments with you? My 3yr old does great, but the almost 2 yr old, not so much!

So, this progesterone I am taking is inserted vaginally. It looks like a regular pill that you would take orally, and apparently it can be taken that way as well. In any event, the coating on the capsule is an orangish/pinkish/brown (I promise that is a color ). Clearly whoever made this pill was not a female in this situation. Realistically I know what goes in, must come out, but my current issue is trying to discern if I am spotting blood, or if it is the designated capsules that are leaking out a lovely orangish/pink color. It doesn't look like my bleeding before and it does seem to be more prevalent in the hours just after insertion, but I am also worried that my bleeding is just progressing in a negative direction. That being said, I am happy it isn't bright red. Really, I would like to write the makers of this pill and suggest they switch the color to blue or green!!

@pwnstar: Happy to hear that your ultrasound went well!

@ShootingStar: Someone else caved! I think next time I leave the house I will be wearing mine. Since I'm just at home today...pajama pants it is!

@MrsRcCar: Hoping for your sake and sanity that this issue resolves itself ASAP!

@dcw6411: Thinking of you still. That's absurd about the color of the progesterone pill! You'd think someone would have thought of that! So frustrating. I'm sure if you're not experiencing cramps or bright red bleeding you're probably just fine though.

So, a few end of the week questions!

Is anyone planning on being team green? If you had to guess, do you have an inkling what sex you're having? Any preferences?

What about delivery thoughts? I know this is a long ways away but what's your plan? Trying to go med free, epidural, planned c section, etc.?

    Just curious!

  40. MrsSCB

    pomelo / 5257 posts

@dcw6411: That pill color does not sound well thought out at all! Is no color an option? That would be nice

@agold: @dcw6411: Glad you guys are hanging in there -- I'm thinking good thoughts for both of you!

@coopsmama: We definitely could not be TG, we are way too impatient! I don't have any feeling one way or the other. I'd love to have a girl, and we pretty much have had a girl name picked out for years. In fact, my DH keeps referring to the baby as that name and I'm like, "But what if it's a boy?" haha. It would be fun to have a boy, too, because it's been forever since one was born on both sides of my family. I have seven girl cousins and one boy cousin. Only my oldest cousin has had kids and she has two girls! So I think everyone would be very excited about a little boy.

Haven't given too much thought to delivery yet...My main plan is sort of a non-plan at this point. I'd like to try to go med-free as long as possible but I'm definitely not opposed to an epidural. So basically, "see how it goes" is my plan
