@T.H.O.U.: I did a lot around the house this weekend, and pretty much had constant BH. But last night, it was searing (almost couldn't breathe through it) pain. Now we are wrestling with the idea of having my MIL come up earlier than planned, just in case (DH is worried that I will go sooner, and in the middle of the night again) . . . which is super stressful for me because I wanted to just have a normal few days with my family of three before anyone showed up (and to be able to watch the Olympics on the couch at night, alone and/or with DH, while eating as many popsicles as I damn well please).

@pwnstar: I'm really stressed out too about going in the middle of the night, or at some other really inconvenient time. The plan is for my parents to watch DS, but they live 3 hours away. I have the added complication of all this false labor, so I feel like I have to be really sure if I'm in labor. I'm worried I'll get to the hospital and they'll either send me away or it'll be a hurry and wait situation and all of a sudden it'll be go time for the c-section. I have no idea if I should call my parents when we're on route, or if we should wait until they make the call about whether I'm in labor. And if it's the middle of the night, we may need to call someone else, like my FIL, but it'll take him a good hour to get here. And what if we end up having to bring him to the hospital? Ugh.
I asked my parents to come out a few days early - Friday instead of Sunday (c-section scheduled for next Tuesday) but I feel like that's the earlier that makes sense. Otherwise they could be sitting around here for a week while I'm having false alarms every day. And we need them to stay a couple week after, so it's like they'd be here forever.

Has anyone checked out the new cat & jack line of baby clothes at target? It came out at my store last weekend and I love it!! Yesterday I bought this outfit:
I showed my husband and he thought it looks like something from GOT! I think its adorable. My mom also bought baby girl a couple of cute onesies and ruffle bottom pants.
Meanwhile, I almost think baby girl flipped around in my belly this weekend and is now sideways. Thankfully I have an amniotic ultrasound check tomorrow so I'm going to ask.

@ShootingStar: I feel the same way. We're going to have my MIL come tomorrow (instead of Wed); our cleaners come tomorrow, so the house will be ready (it's pretty much ready now minus the vacuuming and bathroom re-cleaning), and it will give LO another (normal) full day at school. I just need one more night alone as a family of three. But it's so stressful. Right now just getting to Thursday seems impossible.

@MrsSCB: ha, also totally cracked up at third time ever. and I guess it's just grouchiness, but I feel like even the innocuous/nice comments, like your target experience, are getting tiresome. glad you're going to start working from home and not waiting until they bring it up!
I'm doing it today (which is why I can be on HB, at work I have zero privacy) and it's so nice to just be at my kitchen table in a tank top with iced tea.
@Pirouette: I'm so glad you're happy at your new job, that's wonderful.
@Silva: @pwnstar: @ShootingStar: gawd, the contractions and false labor sound very unnerving, guys. and all of you have kiddos to think about!
pwnstar hope your little guy stays put--thursday is so soon, it's not so much to ask of him, amirite? and "searing"... gahhhh, good to know what's coming. on a lighter note, I burned a hole on the inside of my upper lip from eating 6 raspberry/strawberry/lime outshines on saturday as meal replacements--not pretty, watch out. oh and as for the picture, thank you for the flattering interpretation but the vibe I got was more like voyeuristic moron abusing cell phone to document car wreck than #inspo. ugh whatever.
@ShootingStar: this must be incredibly stressful, lady as a worst-case-scenario if you go early this week, is it a terrible idea to bring your LO to the hospital with you while your folks drop everything and drive the 3 hours to come fetch him? I mean, I'm sure you've thought through every possibility...
AFM, I can't remember if I've talked about it, but maybe 8-12x a day I'm getting irregular, painful cramps that feel like period cramps--they'll last for 3-5 minutes and then recede, and they don't feel anything like the BH contractions I was having frequently in May-June. they take my breath away but I can talk through them. is anyone else getting this? or are these BH but just a different variety?

@LCTBQE: OMG, those sound like contractions. And so glad you can work from home. I was super surprised to see you comment on here at this time of the day.
pear / 1718 posts
@LCTBQE: Those definitely sound like real, too-legit-to-quit contractions!
I put in just a half day today. It wasn't until I came home to rest that I realized how tired I really am. Just one more half day tomorrow I think, and then I'll peace out.

@LCTBQE: Your work setup today sounds lovely, I hope to be doing the same soon. Really, it's for the best for everyone in my office, because basically I'm pretty much finding all people extremely irritating these days...
I think maybe this baby has moved down at least a little, not because I look all that different, but more because I have some of my appetite back. I am SO hungry today! With my luck I'll probably gain five pounds in the last week alone... I just ate Cheetos at work, even though I also brought healthy snacks with me (which I'll also probably eat, let's be real here).

@OldpuebloJenn: I just noticed a few moments ago another brand called "baby nay" that looks adorable!! I want to buy it all, but my baby girl was given so many nice hand me downs that i feel wasteful purchasing too many new things for her. But its so hard! She's my first and possibly only baby so I want to purchase EVERYTHING!
nectarine / 2461 posts
@agold: @pwnstar: yeah, I'm excited that *something* is happening, but they're super intermittent so I'm not getting my hopes up.
@agold: @MrsSCB: COSMIC ladies, I bought two bags of classic cheetohs last week in the office. luckily the girl who I supervise loves them and I was (barely) ashamed enough of my own greed to share them with her, or I would have killed the entire thing.
@pwnstar: my friends IRL keep saying to me that I'm in the home stretch, but you are *actually* in the home stretch! yeeeeee!
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@LCTBQE: But ARE you excited that something is happening??? Your due date is one day AFTER mine. I'd be freaking out. I feel like I"m the only girl on this thread that is not ready for this baby to come out. I was at a baby shower on Saturday and my stomach felt really tight all of a sudden - like end of the day tight. I went inside and sat on the couch all anti-social like, drinking water and looking at my phone for nearly 45 minutes because i was so nervous to do anything that would trigger this baby to think its okay for her to come out just yet.
nectarine / 2461 posts
@agold: I like to think I'm not superstitious but then I'm afraid by saying it I'll jinx myself but in my perfect world, first choice is for him to be on time, second choice is definitely early, not late. I'm trying not to get attached to when he comes or what the birth is like, knowing that shit is totally out of my hands, but now that we're 37.5 weeks, I'm not worried--and I'd rather have my body start things off than be 10 days late and get induced.
ETA anti-social in any circumstance, but especially at a baby shower, at over 9 months preggg = totally acceptable
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@LCTBQE: So true on not wanting to be induced. Since I basically had to force my body to get pregnant (IVF), I really do not want to have to now force my body to deliver this baby (induced). I'm trying not to be tied to when baby girl will be due, but I'm such a procrastinator that I really am not personally ready for her to come early. Also, even though I'm 37 weeks, I still consider this too early for her to come. I want her to be as big and strong as she can possibly be. Lungs, eyes, sucking ability, that kind of stuff. I want it to keep developing before she has to come out. But once my due date hits, if she isn't here, then I'm all about trying to get things going as naturally as possible. (I'm thinking like lots of walking, maybe some jumping jacks, and some "fun" time with hubs. )

@LCTBQE: It is! I am having moments where it is getting hard to keep my shit together.
I feel emotionally overwhelmed. And it's starting to bubble over a bit. Which is expected. But kind of unsettling. I just need to hold it together for a couple more days . . . !

So today is definitely my last day at work . . . I didn't even make it down the hallway to my office before the first comment was made. *sigh* I'm really trying to find my internal happy place, but damn, people be making it tough for me to keep my cool!
Eta: I should add something positive! I felt good enough to work out this morning . . . so that's something?

@pwnstar: I'm with you, I am so done. I hope my boss OKs working from home starting tomorrow. 39 weeks have finally caught up to me and I just feel blech. And really nauseous this morning, for some reason. I have my 39 week appointment in a little over an hour, interested to see what my OB has to say. And yay for working out! I've mostly been doing a ton of walking, trying to coax this guy out

@T.H.O.U.: @MrsSCB: Thanks! I actually had a conference call get rescheduled from today to tomorrow . . . but my boss is cool with me taking it from home. So today is it! With the c/s looming--it's scheduled for Thursday!--I figured a low-key day at home with LO would be a great way to unwind and prepare.
@MrsSCB: Yeah, I really had to *just do it* this morning . . . I have no idea how I'll feel tomorrow, and I am hoping that it will help me recover more quickly. Otherwise, I would have stopped a couple of weeks ago, when my water bottle (when it's in the holder on the machine) started to touch my belly!

@pwnstar: Thursday is so soon! I hope you have a nice day at home tomorrow! My boss doesn't work in the same place as me, so I was planning to talk to her at a weekly meeting we have today. And of course I just find out she's not coming to this one I'm hoping I can just drive by her office later, since I also need to get my super-late expense report signed. Working in different places is not super helpful...

@pwnstar: I worked out too! Went to probably my last barre3 class for a while!
At my birthing center, we do our NSTs in one of the birthing rooms, and there was a labor in process in the next room. It was amazing and awful and exciting to hear. Especially the baby cries at the end!

@pwnstar: OMG! Your c section is scheduled for Thursday?! Woo hoo! Baby is coming soon! So glad you can take your call from home tomorrow. Gees. Working up to the day of before your delivery - you are amazing!!!
@OldpuebloJenn: Good for you for working out! I would be doing spin class if I didn't have such low amniotic fluid to deal with. My last work out was the morning of July 22 when I learned later in the morning that I have low fluid. Bummer. As for the NST being next to a labor and delivery room! Oh my gosh. That's crazy. I really think I'm in denial about bringing a baby into my life!

I just scheduled a stroller cleaning for the Bob stroller my sister is giving me - the day before my due date! I hope I make it and don't have to reschedule.
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@agold: what's stroller cleaning? Is that a service?
Edit - I just washed our stroller and then realized the baby won't be sitting in the actual stroller seat for a while. So even if you have to reschedule you can clip the car seat into the frame.
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@T.H.O.U.: So my sister is giving me the bob stroller that she used for her daughter for the last 4.5 years. My sister is a little messy so there's like coffee stains and such on the it and its been stored in their garage for a while. I'm so happy she's giving it to me but I wanted it to be cleaned. I found that there is a stroller cleaning service that goes around to a few local stores as a sort of pop-up shop. You drop your stroller off and they will clean it, repair it, service it or whatever. I don't know anything about strollers and I will be bummed if cleaning it is something I could have just done easily myself for free. But I am happy to purchase a deep cleaning service and to get the wheels serviced so its as new as possible. I don't plan to use it for a little while, though, because the car seat I got (uppa baby mesa) isn't compatible with the Bob. So I suppose that even if I go into labor early and am not able to get the Bob to the cleaning, I can always reschedule. I called the company after I purchased the service and left a message asking if I can avoid any rescheduling fee if I miss my appointment because of labor!

@pwnstar: oh man, so glad you are done with the office. sounds like you held your shit together in the 99th percentile, lady--this IS a legitimate time to be emotionally overwhelmed hope tomorrow is supremely relaxing and that it feels helpful (not intrusive) to have your MIL here.
@MrsSCB: awesome you're home now, you are also totally any minute!! I loved your when did you go into labor poll, it was really encouraging. and can't believe you're 39 weeks already. I am mercifully also OOO until I'm back from mat leave, basically kissing the ground in gratitude for my boss allowing me to work from home from here on out. and I have a really fun project to get started on that I'm hoping will make the time go by quickly
@OldpuebloJenn: baby cries!! what a reality check, I wish I could have heard. and amazing that you're still doing barre3
@agold: uhh yes, I'm in denial, too. my recent preparation has been going out to eat with girlfriends for *every. single. meal.* as a last-ditch effort to squeeze it all in. and I hear you that 38 (tomorrow, right?) feels too early still, but she's in great shape at this point I'm trying my hardest to not get too freaked out with anticipation.

@LCTBQE: I am SO thankful I don't have to go to work today. I hate complaining because I'm grateful to be at this point, but I am just done. I had horrible reflux last night that made me sick and then kept me up with nausea and I'm feeling blech. I know I've had a pretty easy (*knock on wood!!*) pregnancy, so it's shocking to me that people have more than one kid when this is the easy version! Haha I'm sure I'll forget it all when he's here, but damn.
cantaloupe / 6017 posts
Was 2 cm, 75% effaced and baby was at -1 this morning. I lost my bloody show when I woke up and at the office before my appt! The doc did a membrane sweep for me (ouch) and told me to walk around town for awhile before going home, just to make sure nothing precipitous happened. I have been having contractions every 10 minutes or so for the past 2.5 hours. I came home because I was uncomfortable walking around town. Its kind of hard to time things right now because in addition to the contractions I'm having some general crampiness and back pain, I assume due to the sweep. Also, everything feels TOTALLY different than with my daughter, who was posterior....I kind of feel clueless.
Basically, I'm a little more certain that its actually happening today (or imminently) ....but it still hasn't presented itself and made me certain- so I won't be surprised (but pretty disappointed!) if things wind down and I wait a few more days. My daughter is with my mom today, so I don't have to worry about that. Just trying to pass the time and hope that when it becomes obvious I have enough time to get myself to the hospital.
