Last night DH looked down at my stomach and went "WHOA" lol. I was like oh thank God, I was starting to wonder if I'd always been this big or if I'm really growing .

@OldpuebloJenn: That's a great bump! I know it feels so good to have any sort of confirmation that the little baby is still growing.

@pregnantbee: Haha! I can absolutely imagine being so happy with the bump, and then being done with the bump just as fast!

Is there such a thing as late onset nausea? I'm feeling it right now. I don't like it!

@ShootingStar: Well, you're growing a person, so.....you haven't always been this size I do feel like I have to remind everyone at work that the 2nd shows faster so I'm not as far along as I look. Haha! I hope I'll even out at some point so I don't look like I'm harboring twins!

@agold: Yeah, I know some people who don't get nauseous until 10 weeks or so and beyond.

It sucks whenever it happens! I was on the phone doing just fine this morning and suddenly felt so incredibly nauseous I had to run and barf a thousand times. It is the worst.

@coopsmama: Thanks. Luckily it passed within about 15 minutes. I didn't end up throwing up. Phew. That wasn't fun!

@pregnantbee: I'm looking forward to showing earlier this time, though hopefully not until after my NT scan. Last time I didn't really want to show early because i didn't want all the random comments about it, but then i got screwed anyway because I didn't have a big bump and had to deal with constant "you're too small! are you sure about your due date?" and of course i was super sensitive about it because then baby started measuring small later on, but there wasn't a thing i could do about it! so you can't win either way, i guess!

    Doctor appointment update....

Good News....No ultrasound today as my bleeding has stopped. I did get to hear baby's heartbeat which sounded great at 161! Not so great news... Doctor is really concerned about my contractions. He added cervical length measurement to my NT scan on Monday to make sure these contractions aren't causing my cervix to thin already. After doing an exam he noticed that my stomach seemed really distended. He asked if I had any digestive issues recently, and I explained that I was either really backed up or really the opposite... (sorry TMI). He thinks it may be my body's reaction to the progesterone, but he isn't 100% sure. No matter what is causing the distention he said we need to get rid of it, because essentially everything is so swollen and distended that its literally pushing down on my uterus and causing the contractions! Crazy right?!? Good news is we are going to experiment with some OTC stuff and try and get the digestive issues under control. He is pretty confident this will solve the contraction problem. Ladies, I am SO happy. There may be an end in sight to all of the craziness from the last month! I am currently sipping on some chamomile tea and researching different foods. I do have celiac, so my stomach gets grumpy easily. I am hoping that is is being caused by the progesterone, which I am now off, and hopefully things will return to normal soon. Every finger and toe crossed for this to settle down and for good news on Monday. At the moment I am basking in the beautiful sound of baby's heartbeat and praying for more continued good news!

On a random note, I got my first are you expecting comment today. I totally said yes and I was so thankful I could. However, I laughed my way to the car after, because I know now my giant looking preggo belly is really being caused by my stomach issues!

@agold: Glad it passed and I hope it stays away!!

I just saw you are off bed rest!!! YAY!!! That is great news! To answer your questions...My DH is home, and isn't leaving to go anywhere until April. I was on bed rest for 2 weeks but he put me on modified today, pending results from the cervical test on Monday. I may have to go back on but for now I get to move a little as long as I take it easy. It feels so wonderful to move!

@dcw6411: amazing update!! I too have celiac so I know what you mean about your stomach being grumpy. I really hope it's just the progesterone, but it does sound like the stomach issues would be causing the contractions, so hopefully you can find the root of the problem asap!

@dcw6411: yay, so glad you had a good appointment and got to hear the heartbeat! It also sounds good that your doc is getting to the bottom of some of you issues. Hopefully you won't have to deal with them for much longer!

@dcw6411: love love love this update!! Hoping you can get the stomach issues all sorted and that all will be well. I really like the sounds of your doctor - sounds like he is being proactive and really doing his best to help figure things out which is awesome! What a blessing. Will continue to think of you!

@dcw6411: good news! I'm sure your doc is looking into this, but have you had your thyroid checked? Bowel and bowel function during pregnancy can be affected by thyroid issues.

@dcw6411: Oh my goodness -- your post almost brought me to tears. I'm so happy you stopped bleeding and heard that beautiful heartbeat. I'm sorry about the stomach issues, and I really hope OTC meds or whatever the dr can give will help you out! And yay for bumps, even if not all due to baby

Latest musings from my daughter this morning: "mommy, im gonna have a baby sister, and I'm going to buy her a toothbrush and teach her how to brush her teeth!" Seriously, where does she get this stuff? Ahhh I want to tell her already!

Happy Friday everyone! Any fun weekend plans? We're expecting to be snowed in and do nothing

    @dcw6411: Great news!!

My bleeding has stopped too. They couldn't find a reason for it, so are just calling it "unexplained bleeding" at this time. I'm just grateful that it has stopped and baby is doing well!

I've fallen behind on this thread because this week has been a bit nuts, but I hope everyone is doing well!

@CoffeeMom: glad to hear the bleeding stopped for you as well! I hope the rest of your pregnancy is uneventful!

@Pirouette: TGIF. Seriously. It's been a long week, haha. We're going to basketball games tonight and Sunday (not my first choice in activity...) but I'm also looking forward to relaxing and maybe a nice dinner out. Stay safe in the storm! My parents and sister are basically right under the bullseye of the storm, so I don't think they'll be doing much this weekend.

Side note: yesterday my Ovia email said the baby has enough muscle control to make a fist now. I read it to DH and he fist-bumped my stomach, lol. I love how excited he is

@CoffeeMom: what a relief the bleeding has stopped!

@MrsSCB: haha that is too cute! I don't think we're actually gonna get that much snow here, but the winds coupled with the snow will probably keep us housebound at least. Hope your family is safe and doesn't suffer any damage!

    @dcw6411: @CoffeeMom: Such great news! 💗

    @MrsSCB: your hubs is adorable!

@Pirouette: My LO loves babies. Sees them everywhere! I can't wait to tell her.

I have spent the last couple of days with my family. (My grandmother passed away). I wanted to tell my parents and my brother, but I didn't want to interrupt anyone's grieving process, or make them feel like they had to be excited and happy for me when they are all so emotionally drained. And we haven't finished our testing yet. We are scheduled to have a CVS on Feb. 3. I will be 12 weeks. So much anxiety about the testing and telling everyone. I am hoping the next few weeks is enough time for good news to really be good news. My little was a rockstar with my family. She truly was a bright spot and made so many people laugh. She has no idea how wonderful she is!

@pwnstar: I was just wondering how you're doing this morning -- I am so sorry to hear about your grandmother I love that your LO is there to bring a little joy to a sad time.

@Pirouette: a cozy weekend at home sounds pretty nice! The other night, they got a surprise snow preview in the DC area -- my mom was at a play and it took her three hours to get home when it would normally take 20 minutes. Staying at home seems wise!

@dcw6411: That is such a great doctor's appointment update! I"m so glad things are taking a positive turn, that you heard your baby's heart beat, the bleeding stopped, you are off bed rest AND your husband is home for a while. Sounds all perfect to me!

@CoffeeMom: I'm so glad that your bleeding has stopped too!!

@MrsSCB: Do you like the Ovia emails? I haven't signed up for any emails or apps yet. What are some other ones I should look into?

@pwnstar: I'm sorry about your grandma passing. I hope you find a good time to tell your family since I'm sure they will be so very excited to hear. You are sweet to respect the grieving process.

@pwnstar: I'm so so sorry about your grandmother. My uncle passed away last year and everyone kept telling me how my LO was a bright spot that helped them through the grieving process. little kids are just amazing like that

@pregnantbee: haha really? it's so random! was there a tv show about it or something? where do they come up with this stuff?!

  30. MrsSCB

    pomelo / 5257 posts

@agold: I like it! I use the app and they also send you an email every day. It's not a super detailed email, but each one has a fun "baby tidbit" that I like to read. Like today's was "your baby is using its hands to feel its face and mouth, practicing for coordination on the outside." I haven't tried any other apps or anything, though, so not sure how it compares.

  31. pregnantbee

@Pirouette: No idea, but it's so random that not only my son said it, but your LO did, too! He also said he wants to teach her how to wash her face. LOL.

@OldpuebloJenn: Music. I am constantly battling tears while driving. I have been listening to a lot of old school jams (California Love, Insane In The Brain, 99 Problems, etc.) to keep the tears at bay. 😂 Also, I am still watching Grey's Anatomy. I cry during almost every episode!

Anyone else's stomach being a real PITA? When I eat one of the few things that sounds good at the time, my stomach gets very angry, and within about an hour or so, I really regret having eaten anything. And then I feel queasy again. It's an awesome cycle!

  36. agold

    grapefruit / 4045 posts

@pwnstar: Unfortunately my stomach is a real PITA. My poops are no longer predictable. I have zero appetite for anything. I don't want to eat at all ever. Which is totally not like me. And likely how I dropped 10 pounds fast. I normally eat candy all day long.

  37. Pirouette

    pomegranate / 3331 posts

@pwnstar: yup, my body is having a really hard time with the whole digestion process. It sucks because I'm starving all the time so I eat like crazy and then feel sick

  38. MrsSCB

    pomelo / 5257 posts

I will preface this with sorry if this is an annoying thing to be worried about but I weighed myself and I haven't gained any weight. I'm almost 11 weeks. Is that a concern? I'd think it was normal if I'd been sick, but I haven't and have been eating pretty normally -- probably a bit more than normal. Is the baby just stealing all my calories?

  39. pwnstar

    pear / 1718 posts

@MrsSCB: Nothing to worry about! Enjoy it while it lasts. Fo shizzle!

  40. OldpuebloJenn

    kiwi / 595 posts

@MrsSCB: I haven't gained either. I'm not worried about it, if I recall the bulk of the weight gain happens in the 2nd trimester anyway. I gained in the first tri last time because I have myself a pass to eat all the things!
