@pwnstar: @OldpuebloJenn: thank you, it's hard not to worry about every little thing! I was thinking I've also cut alcohol (duh) so that handful of drinks per week probably added a lot of calories lol

@OldpuebloJenn: @MrsSCB: I have already gained 10 pounds. Effing carbs! So. Let's look at this as a group. I am bringing our group average up to 3.33 pounds per preggo. No need to thank me.

@pwnstar: hahaha!
I've also not gained anything, but for the amount of throwing up I've done recently I'm not surprised a bit. With my other two pregnancies I didn't gain until 20 weeks along and at that point gained *50* lbs between then and delivery. Siiiigh. I was so frustrated after doing that with my first I ate really well with my second and did it again! So I've realized that's probably my norm and am expecting it again.
pomelo / 5257 posts
@coopsmama: it does seem that to some extent you don't have much control over it. I have friends who ate well and exercised throughout and still gained a lot. And I know there's still plenty of time for me! Seems like luck of the draw (like so many things, haha).
In other news, I caught a glimpse of myself in the target fluorescent lights, and my skin looks worse than I realized. The breakouts are never ending it seems I'm sticking to dimly lit mirrors from now on...

I haven't gained anything either. But I have to eat pretty strictly. Last time I lost about 20 pounds thanks to the GD diet. Don't hate me, I'd love to live on carbs.

@MrsSCB: I'm no dr but I think you're fine. You'll gain more in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters.
pineapple / 12234 posts
@MrsSCB: I think that's normal for the first tri!
I've gained 6lbs but I went from eating pretty healthy to mainly only eating carbs I can't stomach anything else!
Cereal, bagels, chicken pot pie, it's all keeping me from throwing up which I'm really grateful for. I was SO incredibly sick until 35 weeks with ALL my pregnancies so it seems unreal that I haven't gotten sick yet. Sometimes I wonder if I'm still pregnant...

@pwnstar: @HLK208: add me to the gainers list! Haha, I've been eating like craaaazy. I didn't gain in the first tri last time, but I think I lack the capacity to care about my diet more these days after seeing how temporary it all is. Probably not a great attitude but carbs and constant eating are holding off the nausea!

@HLK208: Girl, that bump don't lie!
I really hate the topic of weight gain during pregnancy! I feel like it's one of those things women are made to feel bad about it but the majority of women I know have done their best to just have a healthy pregnancy (and sometimes that means surviving off of carbs all first trimester or even longer!) and we've all gained differently and to different parts of our body. I feel like it's one of those things to stop beating ourselves up about and really just enjoy the process of pregnancy as much as possible and embrace the good and the bad and the ugly. My body is a wreck for a good 4-5 months postpartum - I've got skin hanging where it shouldn't, weight to lose, etc. but boy when I hold my newborn I don't think a thing about it. They are so worth it.

@HLK208: @mrschickpea: @dcw6411: such an exciting day, I can't wait to hear about all your appointments!
I'm thinking I have to come to terms with delivering at my current hospital. I've called literally seven doctors who deliver at the one I'd like to switch to, and they're all fully booked for August. I'm kicking myself for not doing more research from the beginning, but it is what it is at this point. There's nothing actually WRONG with my current hospital, and I do like my doctor, I'd just prefer the other hospital. Time to move on, though!
grapefruit / 4717 posts
@MrsSCB: I'm sorry you don't get to have your dream hospital. It sounds like you'll still have a good experience about the current one, but I know it stinks not to get what you want. I think I'd be done trying after 7 drs too.

@mrschickpea: @HLK208: @dcw6411: Good luck, ladies!
@MrsSCB: I'm so very sorry you aren't going to get your preferred hospital. That really is such a bummer. I'm hoping that there are some great things about the hospital that you are currently at that you can try to focus on instead of the things you desired at the other hospital. In the end, you will have your baby in a safe delivery and that's all that matters.

Thinking of all of you and your appointments today.
I'm absolutely freezing today...like cold enough that Im wearing my jacket in the office and our office assistant just asked me if I'm pregnant!! I was also running to the bathroom, so I just pretended I didn't hear her. I am so not ready to talk about it!
pomelo / 5257 posts
@pregnantbee: @agold: Thanks, ladies, I know it'll all turn out fine anyway. My husband texted me to cheer me up and said, "i've fallen for all the weird baby pictures they have on the wall at your place. plus i have important memories of our first ultrasounds there." I thought that was really sweet and it made me feel better. And I really do like my doctor, so that's a good thing
grapefruit / 4717 posts
@MrsSCB: Awww, your husband sounds so sweet! All good reasons to like the current place
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@MrsSCB: Your husband sounds so sweet. I'm glad you can start feeling a little better about this. And liking your doctor is one of the most important things!
@MrsKerch: Is being cold a pregnancy thing? I can't seem to find a warm enough spot in my bed lately and that's been really strange to me.
pear / 1718 posts
@MrsSCB: As they say in Steel Magnolias, your husband is good people.
I am an emotional cranky mess today. Still nauseated (and extra drool-y, wth?!) . . . I just ate two pb&j sandwiches and an obscene amount of Mini Nilla Wafers, and I feel maybe a little better now? I am so looking forward to going home today. My DH was travelling all last week (Sun to Sat), and he leaves again Wednesday and comes home on Sat. It's really no big deal. Peanut and I have our own little groove when he's gone. But I just feel better (and so much less overwhelmed) when he's home (and I sleep so much better too!).
pear / 1718 posts
@MrsKerch: WTH is wrong with people asking questions that aren't any of their business? Fwiw, I'm cold all the time too. I frequently run around in layers (including a hoodie that I usually wear to bed), and at night, I cover up on the couch with a blanket (over my jammies and hoodie) and turn the fireplace on too.
pomelo / 5257 posts
@pregnantbee: @agold: @pwnstar: Yeah, I think he's a keeper
@pwnstar: Sorry you're not feeling well! It's tough when your spouse has to do a lot of traveling. My H has a crazy work schedule mid-april to mid-june every year where he's either traveling or working insane hours, and it always gets lonely. I'm sure being pregnant and hormonal doesn't help. I hope the trip flies by!
@MrsKerch: I have also been super cold, but I'd never assume that was a pregnancy symptom in someone else! And it's pretty rude to ask that.

Hey guys!! Baby looks small but we heard the heartbeat (140) my uterus is titled and my OB said it was hard to get an accurate measurement so I have another U/S next Tuesday. Anyway, here's my little peanut.
pineapple / 12234 posts
@pwnstar: mmmm PB&J sounds good!
@MrsKerch: ugh, so weird to ask that because you're wearing a jacket?! What the heck! I'm super sensitive to being hot/cold during the first/second tri. Too hot? I'm dizzy. Too cold? I'm nauseous. Haha.
pomegranate / 3331 posts
@MrsKerch: thank goodness i'm not the only one who is freezing! DH thinks there's something seriously wrong with me because i cannot get warm at all!
@MrsSCB: I love what your DH said about the hospital! it'll all work out - liking your doctor is the most important!
@pwnstar: I feel like it's so so hard when my husband travels these days, even though it's not hard to take care of LO on my own. but i'm so much more needy of attention when i'm pregnant i guess!
@HLK208: I love your little peanut! I'm sorry they couldn't get good measurements, and yay, another chance to see baby in a week!
grapefruit / 4717 posts
@HLK208: Oh, hi, little one! Hooray for the heartbeat! Sorry they couldn't get a good measurement, but yay for another u/s next week. Update the list
@MrsKerch: UGH. MYOB, people. I'm not cold at work, but I'm almost always freezing at home. I had someone ask me today about the baby.....it's a good thing I'm actually pregnant and out at work, otherwise I would have had to deck her. (jk, mostly...)
@pwnstar: I don't like when DH travels either. He's such a good partner that I sometimes forget how much he does around the house with the dog and our son and just general upkeep.

@agold: I have no idea...this is my first too...but I have been noticing a big change when it comes to body temp regulation as compared to pre-pregnancy.
ETA: to be fair, this gal and I are close in age and she sits right in front of the bathroom. So, add the fact that she's highly aware of the number of my trips to the bathroom to the fact that I'm super cold lots lately (and was never the cold girl before) and I think she's just trying to be the concerned friend. Still! They'll all know soon enough.

Got the harmony results back, and everything is low risk! My husband and I weren't worried until the twenty minutes between me getting their message/calling them back and them returning my call with the results! During those twenty minutes we both silently played through the worst case scenarios...obviously.
Next appointment is in two weeks. I'm feeling less nauseous most days, but I do often feel sick after lunch. Still pretty tired, but getting some energy back. Our treadmill is being delivered on Wednesday, thank goodness. I'm definitely ready to start exercising again!
Oh, and I have no idea how much weight I've gained but I can tell from how my clothes fit that it's not good. Not anything to do about it now, other than start exercising! I went into this pregnancy a little heavier and out of shape, but told myself I'm not worrying about it until next year. That's right, I've made my resolution for 2017 already

@MrsSCB: I probably won't deliver at my preferred place either. I delivered at a FANTASTIC hospital with DD, but switched to a midwife practice that delivers at a hospital I'm not happy with. Hopefully I won't risk out and can deliver at their birth center, but if I do risk out, it's my not preferred hospital. meh.

@Silva: Hooray! That's wonderful news about being low risk. And yay for treadmill delivery coming up. I'll be right there with ya in 2017!
