@ShootingStar: August and September are usually pretty warm here - we had 100s in September this past year. Both of my kids were summer kids so I have plenty of newborn and 3 month (my kids were both in 3 month at a week old) summer clothes! I did a lot of onesie and short sets with DS and little rompers for DD and I anticipate doing the same this go around. With AC I would just put a blanket over them. My babies seemed to do just fine with that. We try not to run the AC except at night so at night we will likely so cotton sleepers with a swaddle or something - maybe fleece depending how cold we set it!

@ShootingStar: Hooray! OMG, we did the same thing. I had them not tell me over the phone and we were shaking while navigating to the reveal button.

ETA: And OMG how long do WE have to wait???

@agold: He says he'll leave on time, which I take to mean 4:30 (east coast). He wants to go out to eat to celebrate and open it over dinner, so I'm guess it'll be close to 6 before I know.

I told him if he doesn't leave on time I might divorce him, lol. The last time we did this I totally messed up. I asked them to email me and I accidentally saw it, but I misread it. So I thought I knew what it was and then I got really upset! LOL. I turned off all notifications and closed email tabs on both computers (I'm at home with work laptop and personal laptop).

@ShootingStar: You tell us you have your results back but that we have to wait to find out boy or girl . . . WUT?!

@ShootingStar: eek!! this is so exciting! i can't wait to hear!! and obviously, what a relief to get great results. Any last minute gut feelings?

  9. ShootingStar

    coconut / 8472 posts

@Pirouette: Oh man, I'm so confused, lol. I've been thinking the entire time that this pregnancy is so so different that it must be a girl this time. But there was a thread recently where a lot of people said they had really different pregnancies and it meant nothing. So now I'm trying to prepare myself for it not being a girl.

I'll be happy to have another boy, but I can't deny I'd like to be a girl mom and this is our last baby.

@ShootingStar: Well, if it makes you feel any better, I've had the opposite experience. I feel exactly the same. I thought for sure it was another boy only to find out it's a girl. So I'm thinking how you feel between 2 pregnancies means nothing. Can't wait to hear. He better be on time!

@ShootingStar: haha well my entire first pregnancy was classic boy pregnancy by all the wives tales, so you just never can tell! You can't lose - brothers have a bond that is just so special, and of course one of each is perfection. I can't wait to hear

My grandma came to see her great grandkids today and my son was SO excited to show her the baby's ultrasound picture and tell her about the baby in mommy' tummy. She was so excited! This will be her 12th great grandchild but she is still so excited each time a new one is announced!

The OB saga continues! I just got a call from a new doc saying she CAN take me. I'm excited, the only issue is the first appointment she has is the same day as my NT scan is scheduled at my current place. I may do the scan and then make the official switch after? I just don't want to push back the scan farther. The new doc won't be able to do it that day, and I'll already be 13 weeks. Whew! This is complicated!

@MrsSCB: Complicated is right! But at least you know you can switch to the place you wanted to be at . Is there any problem with having the NT scan where you are currently at and then switching?

I had a "switching" issue myself. I'm with an RE currently who is covered under one medical group. I have three more appointments with him on the next three Wednesdays. But I was required by RE to schedule a 10 week appointment with regular OB, who is under a different medical group. So I'm going to regular OB next week on Monday. I can be all switchy/switchy with my insurance. I need to switch just once so I've had to figure out who was cheapest to pay OOP with to determine when I need to make the switch. Phew. Too much for me. Oh, insurance.

    pomelo / 5257 posts

@agold: I don't think it should be a problem. When I asked the new place if they would be able to also do the NT scan that day, they said no and actually suggested still doing it at the current place and then seeing the new doc. So seems fine I guess? It might be silly to not just wait a little longer to do it at the new place. But we're waiting to tell family until the next US so I just want to get it done asap!

I didn't realize you would have to switch to a regular OB after a certain point, but makes sense now that I think about it. And you are right about insurance -- it is so complicated! Much more than it probably should be...

@MrsSCB: I think it all makes sense that you proceed with the NT scan with your current doctor. And I was confused about the same thing regarding my switch to a different doctor. I thought I would stay with the RE the whole time. But I suppose it makes sense that he just does IVF stuff and not baby delivering stuff.

  33. pregnantbee

    grapefruit / 4717 posts

@MrsSCB: Well, that's amazing news! I'd definitely keep the NT scan on the day you already have it and then switch after. As long as both groups are covered by your insurance, it shouldn't be an issue. Then you can finally see the baby and then hopefully start to tell people

  34. pregnantbee

    grapefruit / 4717 posts

@agold: Wow, that all sounds really complicated. And I do think it's pretty normal that you start with an RE and then graduate to a regular OB at some point. It's a rite of passage and a huge milestone.

Thanks everyone! We are so incredibly excited.

@MrsSCB: The NT scan has to be done by the end of week 13. If they can't squeeze you in that's probably why they suggested you keep the appointment.

@ShootingStar: ah, I didn't know that -- makes total sense now. Thank you!

Where are my fellow celiacs at?

I lived on bagels my first trimester last time. And every Friday I'd stop by the store on my way to work for a cup of coffee and a huge, delicious everything bagel with cream cheese. My weekly treat for surviving the work week.
Now I have celiac disease. I hadn't been that upset by the diagnosis or diet change because I felt so terrible before they figured it out that I mostly just felt relieved. But now that I'm pregnant it's rough.
I spend a measurable amount of each day fantasizing about bagels. I've tried all the gluten free brands, and made my own (which are the best, but still not the same and very work intensive). They all taste like gluten free bagels. I want a real, gluten-filled bagel that doesn't gum up in my mouth or crumble or taste weird.

I'm legitimately considering eating a bagel as my first meal postpartum. My reasoning is this: the first meal after delivery is the best ever. I will already be cramping (after pains from labor). I can take most of my usual medicine for getting glutened (like gas-x and tums) since I won't be pregnant anymore. And- you know how scary it can be to poop postpartum? That amount of gluten would give me completely liquid diarrhea for days. Sorry, TMI and gross.

This is what I spend my time thinking about. I just want a real bagel

@Silva: have you had udis bagels? If you can find them fresh, not frozen, they are great! I eat them for breakfast - the everything inside is my absolute favorite! I'm impressed you make your own!

@Pirouette: udis are the best store version I've had, but I have only seen them frozen!
