@OldpuebloJenn: We are also planning a week at the beach with LO . . . she had such a blast last year and has asked repeatedly to go back!

@Pirouette: Hooray for spa weekend! I'm jealous. Enjoy every moment

  3. pregnantbee

@OldpuebloJenn: Ooooh, that sounds amazing. Good idea to do something special so LO can enjoy and celebrate, too.

We're going on a trip with my parents and my sister, BIL, and niece at the end of March. Not sure how much of a "vacation" it will really be, but we all live in different parts of the country and are rarely ever in the same place at the same time. We're meeting in a neutral 3rd place. Should be good.

I'd love to do a babymoon this time around, but I just don't know when. Also, my leave policy is different this time, and it requires that I hoard vacation time. I don't know if I can spare the leave. So maybe we'll try to do a long weekend somewhere closer. The only people I'm comfortable leaving our son with overnight are my parents or ILs.....and nobody lives near us. We may be able to convince one set to come for a long weekend of DS care

@dcw6411: @pregnantbee: @pwnstar: Thanks, girls! you all are the best!

@Pirouette: Your spa WEEKEND sounds so amazing. Will you get a prenatal massage? You have me officially jealous and craving at least a sap DAY for myself soon.

@pwnstar: For a babymoon, I'm really hoping my husband and I make it to hawaii - as long as there's no more mention of the zika virus being there! I think you should try to do the Europe trip!

@MrsSCB: I hear you on wanting it to be Friday already. I've had a crappy work week, too, because of things I personally messed up on. Opps. but it really sucks when someone else is causing your miserable week. I woke up today just wanting it to be Saturday so I can sleep all day.

@OldpuebloJenn: I am dreaming of the exact same things for a beach baby moon. What beaches are you thinking of?

  5. Pirouette

    pomegranate / 3331 posts

    @pwnstar: @pregnantbee: thanks!!!

@agold: I decided to go with the pedicure, only because I was in the height of morning sickness when i booked it and anything like a facial seemed suffocating! I'm too early for a prenatal - they won't do them in the first tri. But i think that sounds like an awesome "congrats on reaching the 2nd tri" present to give yourself!

so jealous of all this baby moon talk! DH just keeps griping about how we're spending too much money, so i don't see any trips in the cards for us not to mention, if i start a new job, i won't have the luxury of time off before maternity leave.

  6. agold

    grapefruit / 4045 posts

@Pirouette: Yep, the cost of the baby moon is certainly an issue. We have hotel points from a credit card that helps with accommodation. Since I can't drink alcohol, that actually saves us quite a bit. Also, no costly activities since being pregnant probably restricts me from most things I'd want to do. Its really just flights that will be the main cost.

  7. MrsSCB

    pomelo / 5257 posts

@agold: Haha, I keep telling my husband, "We're saving so much money now that I'm not drinking!" Not that I was a total lush or anything...but getting a cocktail and a glass of wine with dinner adds up! Yay for saving money

  8. agold

    grapefruit / 4045 posts

@MrsSCB: It is totally true! Two glasses of wine at dinner can be $20 or $30 dollars. And oh my gosh, a beach vacation?!? The booze would be ridiculous. So yes, we are saving a good amount of money re: alcohol. I'm also so tired now that I can sit through a lengthy dinner so my husband usually just has one drink now! Also, since cutting out alcohol, it caused me to lose weight. Maybe I was a lush!

  9. Pirouette

    pomegranate / 3331 posts

@agold: haha that is too true! I like decent wine so it can get expensive! But i think I'm making up the difference in snacks lately it's true we could do something on the cheap, but i also dont know yet what my salary will be or whether ill be paid anything for mat leave, so it's hard to plan anything. And somehow the idea of a baby moon isnt as enticing to me as a trip when im done nursing and can truly relax and have my body be my own again! Even though that feels light years away

  10. MrsSCB

    pomelo / 5257 posts

@agold: Well I'm right there with you, because I've been thinking the only reason I haven't really gained is I cut out alcohol. I'm like, "Hmm, maybe I should have done this to get in better shape while NOT pregnant..." But I'll be honest, it would probably not be worth it

  11. agold

    grapefruit / 4045 posts

@Pirouette: and @MrsSCB: I think we would be friends in real life! I was thinking the same thing about why I just didn't drop alcohol before. But I love it so much that I don't mind the 10+ pounds it packs on my body. I'm married anyways. Meh! And its so true about a trip after you are finishes breast feeding. I'm struggling with the idea of a babymoon for this specific reason. What in the world will I really be doing on a baby moon? Probably not anything that I can't do within a 1 hour radius of where I live. Oh gees. Please don't make me start thinking practically!

Omg, I miss wine! It's for a great cause, but still

Almost a spinoff from another thread started today, when did all the second and beyond moms feel their 1st baby move? I'm assuming it will be around 20 weeks or so before I feel anything but I am curious what everyone's experience was

    Hi guys!! Checking in!

She was also totally cool with our Italy babymoon in May

  15. OldpuebloJenn

@agold: we live a few hours from San Diego, so we'll probably go to Coronado Island, we have hotel points and have been to the same hotel every summer for a few years. I'd love to go to Cabo or Cancun, but the zika virus is freaking me out.

@mrschickpea: Thanks!! First kid-free vacation since our first babymoon in 2012 And it's right before our 5 year wedding anniversary, so grateful to my parents for being willing to fly up and sit! And yes we're finding out gender! DH is 100% sure it's a boy

    @OldpuebloJenn: Thanks!!

    pomegranate / 3331 posts

@agold: haha I'm sorry for planting those thoughts in your head! I don't mean to be practical, I just don't feel like I'm as fun when I'm pregnant haha. And I'd never give up wine when not pregnant! And lose all those health benefits?!

@JoJoGirl: yayayay! So happy to hear this!! Did you book the baby moon?

    @HLK208: Thanks! Getting ready now

@JoJoGirl: Lucky you with an Italian baby moon!!

@OldpuebloJenn: Coronado Island is truly a gem of a place. that's amazing. I've been dying to stay at the Del.

@Pirouette: Oh don't worry. I already had the buzz kill "practical" thoughts in my mind. And really.. "you can drink a tiny bit" - you are a girl after my own partially italian heart.

  23. pregnantbee

@mrschickpea: I didn't feel my son until maybe 23 weeks? Either that or I just had no idea what it felt like so I missed it.

  24. pregnantbee

    grapefruit / 4717 posts

@JoJoGirl: Hooray for a great heartbeat and getting the blood draw. Hope everything's ok with that, too.

ETA: Do you have any feelings about what baby might be??

  25. agold

    grapefruit / 4045 posts

Two new feelings I'm having: (1) I feel like I'm getting a puffy stomach now. Its not like I had a nice flat stomach to begin with, and maybe I just perpetually sucked it in. But now I'm having a hard time sucking it in and just catch myself with it all puffed out half the day. Ugh. (2) my boobs are getting bigger and are looking much more, ummm, functional. Don't like it.

    @JoJoGirl: awesome news all around!

@mrschickpea: I think I felt her move around 18 weeks, my husband could feel it at 20.

@pregnantbee: Ha. Thanks. I saw that all with tongue in cheek. I'm pretty amazed by all that is happening, really. Its crazy how our bodies change to accommodate the growing of a human baby!

  29. pregnantbee

@agold: I've already been through it once, and it still feels like a miracle

I continue to be a little obsessed with food. Like it's just not enjoyable if I can't figure out exactly the right thing to eat. Tonight that was roasted sweet potato "fries" dipped in mayo. The. Exact. Right. Thing.
I could have eaten like 6 sweet potatoes.

The people I rent my office from know I'm pregnant now, although apparently they already did (I see one of their husbands for clinical supervision and had told him as it related to a client I was considering taking on).

My bloat has gone down substantially, until evening. I do have a small and real bump now,it it's way less obvious and smaller than the bloat!

Oh, we also found out I'm not a carrier for CF tonight, so that's good. I freaked out because I only listened to part of the message, which was the on call Doctor telling me to call her TONIGHT for my results. They won't leave a message with your results, and so I was like "shit, why didn't she just have the nurse do this tomorrow during the business day. I'm totally a carrier. Now my husband has to get tested. And insurance might not cover it. And it's crazy expensive. Shit shit shit."
turns out everything is fine, and the second half of the message said "it's good news." Oops.

@Silva: The "right" food makes all the difference. After the post yesterday about Thai food, I've been craving Thai, so I got it for lunch today! Now I might need sweet potato fries.......

Excellent news about not being a CF carrier. Yay! And hooray for a real bump. I realized last night that I can still suck in the "bump," therefore, it's still more bloat than anything else, though it looks substantial. I hope I'll even out.

Ok ladies... you are all killing me with the wine talk. My favorite! I grew up in wine country in California and I am such a wino as an adult. Everytime I have been pregnant I make my husband promise to not drink a drop of wine on front of me for 9 months! I think he's actually scared I would freak out on him so he's always really good about it.

@Silva: Ooo I must go find sweet potato fries now!

@mrschickpea: I can't remember with my first but my second it was early, between 15 and 16 weeks! He was strong. This time I have an anterior placenta so I suspect it will be later.

Annnnnnndd because of the mention of Thai food, I made makeshift peanut noodles for dinner 🍜 Yummmm

  38. MrsSCB

    pomelo / 5257 posts

@Silva: unfortunately for me, the "right" food is any food I see or hear about, hahaha. I saw a Burger King commercial about chicken nuggets and I thought, "oh yeah, I could eat some of those." I haven't even eaten chicken nuggets in years!! 😂

  39. pregnantbee

    grapefruit / 4717 posts

@mrschickpea: @MrsSCB: @Silva: The food cravings are crazy! Last pregnancy, I had "boxed Mac and cheese" week. After not eating that for maybe 10 years? No idea what came over me. That particular craving hasn't hit this time. Now I'd like to eat pretty much anything except salad and cooked veggies. Sorry, baby girl.

And yes, the wine talk! I'm in CA with access to so much good wine that I can't drink. Boo. When I think about a babymoon and what's within distance, I keep coming up with Napa and then a huge d'oh. What's the point if I can't drink???

Is anyone else still having skin issues? My forehead won't stop breaking out. I've never had bad skin before and it's making me so self-conscious. I feel like people must be staring at my forehead all the time. I know that sounds ridiculous, and there are far worse problems to have, but ugh. I just feel gross
