    @MrsSCB: yes! So much yes! This is my first pregnancy where my skin has gotten significantly worse and it's driving me crazy! I've never had great skin but usually my complexions totally evens out while pregnant. I miss that happy side effect.

    I've also eaten chicken nuggets several times this pregnancy. One of the only things I could keep down at breakfast...weird and gross!

    @mrschickpea: YUM Thai!! We ordered some last week - best Friday night decision ever. I didn't feel baby number one until just under 20 weeks. Baby 2 was 13 so significantly different.

    @MrsSCB: it was BAD until about a week and half ago (it finally cleared up and I haven't had one since). But I didn't want to talk face to face with people for a few days. It wasn't just one blemish but seriously TEN majorly painful blemishes. I never had acne before having kids but pregnancy and BFing has been so rough on my face 😁

    @pregnantbee: you already know about my SICK cravings but they're all foods I haven't had in over a decade, haha.

    @Silva: ugh, why waste time eating if it's not exactly what you want, cooked exactly how you want it?!? That's my thought process at least

    @HLK208: Yes!! Early on in this pregnancy I had the awful painful cyst ones - a couple down on my jawline. Horrible. I'd never experienced that before and it really makes me feel bad for people who do frequently. As if blemishes weren't bad enough - the painful aspect just adds insult to injury.

    I tried something a little different for the nausea this AM. I read an interesting article talking about how nausea in pregnancy is often caused by an h. Pylori flare up in the gut and that one way to help mitigate the effects of that is by apple cider vinegar (or other fermented foods). I put one tablespoon in a glass of water with one tablespoon honey to help me get it down and sipped on it slowly until it was gone - and I'm happy to report I had my best day in a LONG time. It may have just been a coincidence but I'm going to try it again tomorrow. I do feel like I've had an extremely acidic, gurgly, biley tummy every morning over the past weeks and I do feel like the ACV neutralized it somehow.

    Hi ladies - I've been MIA again thanks to work being INSANE. But I did manage to squeeze in my CVS appointment yesterday and it went well. It hurt sooo much less than last time (like it barely hurt at all!) and I haven't had any cramping afterward so that has been good. I have an anterior placenta again. And baby is measuring a few days ahead but they're leaving my due date at the 19th. Baby was super squirmy and the tech did a quick 3D view and baby was literally boxing the whole time. So feisty about the U/s!

    We will get the CVS results in a week or two but the big news from the appointment is the 30-yr veteran doc who did the procedure asked if we wanted to know the baby's sex and we both said yes. Then he proceeded to point out the "boy parts" on the ultrasound. At 10w5d! But this guy has done thousands and thousands of these and he said he is 90% sure we will get a confirmation of that with the CVS results. Whoa! We didn't expect to get gender news yesterday! I have felt very strongly this is a boy from the very beginning (mostly because my HCG levels were SO much lower than with my LO who is a girl, and my lack of hyperemesis this time). I am mourning the idea of a sister for my LO (we are almost certainly done after this) but after 24 hours to process starting to get very excited at the different experience being a boy mom will bring. Plus we have much better boy name ideas than girls - it was soooo hard with LO (seriously - she was nameless for 4 days after birth because we just couldn't figure it out) we were dreading having to somehow figure out another girl name!

    Now just awaiting those CVS results and can't wait to tell family and work (my mom, one sister and a few close friends know, but that's it).

    @agold: @dcw6411: @pregnantbee: I know everyone has different opinions about it, but I drank an occasional half glass of wine in the 2nd tri last time, just because I love the taste and can sip it very slowly and find it really enjoyable! My doctor encouraged it so I felt ok about it. I won't touch it in the first tri though, and really don't want it anyway. The idea of it, yes, but the taste of it seems yuck to me in the first tri! Anyway, don't judge me ladies

    @stratosphere: oh wow, that's so crazy he could tell already! Congrats on a boy!!! So exciting!

    @MrsSCB: Yes. My poor chin! With the craziness that has been work and life the past few weeks, my chin has been forced to bear the brunt of the awful hormone/stress combination. Adding to that, of course, is falling asleep with my makeup on a few times too. It's on the mend, thank goodness(!), but still . . .

    @stratosphere: Congratulations!

    My current food obsession is Kind bars. I made cupcakes with LO yesterday, and I passed up a cupcake to to have a dark chocolate, nuts, and sea salt Kind bar (well, two of them actually). WUT.

    @coopsmama: omg, I used to do the apple cider vinegar thing all the time to help me with gerd. Now I CAN'T because it makes me nauseous! How funny how the same thing can cause such different reactions in different people. I hope this solution continues to help you combat your MS!

  13. coopsmama

    cantaloupe / 6059 posts

    @MrsKerch: if I had guzzled it down I am pretty sure it would've come right back up, too! Haha!! I had to seriously pretend that wasn't what I was drinking - so gross! 🙈 But hey, if it works for me, I'll do it. Just can't think about it. 😜

    @Pirouette: Yes! Women in other countries drink small amounts all the time. I think we've done a huge disservice that all of the tests regarding FAS (from what I've heard; having done no studies on this) have been done on women who were abusing alcohol. Of course that would affect their unborn child! I would love to see some better research. And fwiw, my midwives have always said a small glass now and again is just fine past the first tri. I can't stand wine so it doesn't really matter to me either way, though.

    @stratosphere: Congrats on the !!!

    Hi All! Had a good appointment yesterday. Turns out I was all sorts of mixed up when it came to my appointments and where I was "at" in the process. Yesterday was considered my intake appointment and I am feeling much more comfortable with my doctor. I'm still going to get a second opinion from an expert on my genetic issue but I have a higher level of confidence that Im getting appropriate advice. So, the bloodwork I had three weeks ago was a carrier screening, NOT panorama! I am NOT a carrier for CF or the 3 others that my doc recommended testing for. We drew blood for panorama and requested to find out the sex. Everything is looking good, measuring 10w4d, due date is still on track for aug 28! Baby had a strong hr of 167.

    I'm headed out to CO for a last minute long girls weekend in Denver and Vail before I'm told I can't ski anymore! Hubby has my brothers Bachelor party in Utah in March so I'm thinking that we're doing separate last hurrahs instead of a babymoon. Who knows though, his 30th is at the end of March and I might try to squeeze a special trip just for him out of the budget. I'll think about that when I'm back!

    Hope you all have lovely, relaxing or productive weekends!

    @HLK208: @coopsmama: @pwnstar: Ugh, yes, they are painful! I have lots of little spots on my forehead now, but there is one big one that should probably have its own zip code, and it HURTS! Totally does add insult to injury

    @JoJoGirl: I was also gonna say, re: Italy, it's totally up to your personal comfort level, but if I were there I would probably have a little half-glass here and there

    @stratosphere: Congrats on your BOY, how exciting! This is making me wonder if they'll be able to maybe see something at my next US...I'll be just about 13w. Maybe? Probably more likely if it's a boy, I expect, haha.

    @MrsKerch: I'm glad you have a good appointment and are feeling better about your doc. I hope you have a great time in Colorado, how fun! I love Denver

    I am so, so glad it's Friday. Looking forward to a nap after work today (even though it's still only 10 a.m. here, lol) and some relaxing. Although my friend asked me to go to spin at 9:30 tomorrow morning and in a moment of insanity I agreed... I'm sure I'll feel good after anyway She does not know I'm pregnant, and I'm dying to tell he because she just had a baby in October, but I still want to wait until my next US. It's hard! Oh, also it's supposed to be in the 70s here this weekend, so that should be nice.

    @dcw6411: So glad I made you laugh.

    @coopsmama: I'm so glad you found something to help your morning sickness!

    @stratosphere: Wow!! I can't believe you found out gender at 10.5 weeks! I'm about the same amount of weeks and my baby still looks like it hasn't even taken much of a shape. Was it a transvaginal ultrasound or an over the stomach kind? Do you think it was because of the 3d ultrasound? That's so crazy! And I'm so sorry your little girl won't be getting a sister. I really would love two girls because I have a sister myself. But a little boy will be so much fun!!!! I love boys!

    @Pirouette: No judging, here!

    @coopsmama: I would love to see better research on the subject, too!

    @MrsKerch: A little ski trip with your girlfriends sounds so amazing. I hope you get a little birthday trip squeezed in in March, too. Because who doesn't love a fun a little trip with the hubby!?!

    @MrsSCB: Exhaustion hit me hard two days ago. Yesterday was my anniversary and I cancelled our dinner plans because all I wanted to do after work was go to sleep. I'm scheming about how I can leave work at 2pm or earlier so I can go home and take a legit nap. Spin sounds amazing! Do you do the class at your normal hard core pace, or do you lighten up on the tension now that you are pregnant? Spin is the first thing I will do when I get my "no exercise" restriction lifted.

  22. MrsSCB

    pomelo / 5257 posts

    @agold: I'm pretty much exercising the same as I've always been at this point, albeit less often -- I'm sure that will change eventually! If I start to feel bad, then I will definitely scale back, but so far so good (knock on wood...)

    @MrsSCB: I have an "it's own zip code" pimple next to my nose right now- it's so big I can see it! And yes, it hurts like a mofo. I alternated hot and ice on it yesterday to alleviate some pressure. And of course I'm supposed to have pictures taken tomorrow!

    @pirouette- thanks for outing yourself! I drank last time too, albeit not much and infrequent. But I remember coming home from work and pouring a half glass wine. I justified thinking the wine is relaxing and enjoyable to me, and right now I'm stressed and angry- which is more harmful to me/baby?! Wine won out!

    @OldpuebloJenn: Oh no! Thank goodness for concealer. That's what I tell myself every morning...

    I went to spin this morning with my friend whose husband works with my husband. They're having a bit of a baby boom in their office -- my friend had her son in October, three babies were born in the past week (a singleton and twins) and another wife and I are due in June and August. So that is six babies in one year, and their office is pretty small! My friend kept saying that she's so excited and obsessed with hearing about other people's babies and I was dyyyyying to tell her! Not too much longer now...

    I had a check-up at 13w 6d yesterday, and all went well. Phew! I always get nervous right before appointments, and this time DH couldn't go with me. I had a nurse practitioner instead of my regular OB, so it was odd having a new person. It took her maybe 20 seconds (might as well have been an eternity) to find the heartbeat. PHEW. Had to take DS because I kept him home from school. He was beyond thrilled to hear her heartbeat. The nurse said my weight gain is good so far.....and I should be mindful of carbs and sweets so I don't run into a problem with GD. Uh. But I love BAGELS! So, next one is in 4 weeks!

    @pregnantbee: you don't need that sort of negativity in your life! Lay off carbs?! But seriously, that scares me since I'm already at risks for it (AMA, went into pregnancy carrying extra weight), and all I want right now are carbs.

    Another crazy pregnant dream!

    Anyone else having baby dreams?

    @HLK208: No, not baby dreams . . . just work anxiety dreams (that I think are stemming from my anxiety about my workload, and also having to tell my bosses).

    So I had my 11w appointment today. Everything went fine, although she didn't check the baby's heartbeat. She thought it might be too early. I can always check on our home doppler and now that we have the Panorama results I'm not too worried.

    I saw a midwife I hadn't met before and she gave me some really interesting information. When I had my son 2 years I had a lot of trouble at the end of pregnancy. My blood pressure kept going up fairly high, and I was spilling protein. They kept making me do the urine catches (if you haven't done this, it's 24 hours of collecting all of your pee in a jug) and the protein would go down a little bit, but it was still there. Because the protein was going down I wasn't diagnosed with pre-eclampsia and made it to my induction date at 39 weeks. But the midwife told me that according to the new guidelines I should have been diagnosed with pre-eclampsia.

    She also told me that I'd likely have a repeat c-section a week earlier than I was expecting (and pointed to DH's birthday as a likely date!). Oh, and I'm also pretty likely to have the pre-e issues again. So now I'm wondering if we're going to end up doing a c-section even earlier. I was originally thinking I'd go to around 39 weeks, but now it sounds like I won't go past 38 and it might be even earlier.

  40. JoJoGirl

    cantaloupe / 6206 posts

    @ShootingStar: We heard the heartbeat via doppler at 10.5 weeks! My midwife said you can hear it after 9. Definitely try at home!
