@LCTBQE: I have not yet, mostly because I keep forgetting to buy it (I swear, pregnancy brain is a real thing...) BUT I will say that I feel like sleep has been improving in just the last few days. I may be jinxing myself saying that...but I'll be 12 weeks tomorrow, so maybe something to look forward to? I still want to get some to have on hand for bad nights, though...I'm really glad to hear it works well.

@pregnantbee: thanks for adding me! I saw all of your posts under your struggle pen name, and man can I relate--glad there's light at the end of the tunnel sometimes

@LCTBQE: I hope those posts helped you. Typing it out and getting the support here was definitely wonderful. There is a light. And you've got 3 great scans to prove it.

@HLK208: yikes! Six?! what about subsequent pregnancies?
@mrschickpea: oh how frustrating i wonder if i should wait until later next week for the draw - ill only be 10 and change weeks...
@LCTBQE: yayayay!!!!! Soooo happy to see you here!! There are a lot of us who have been through losses here so we understand your hesitation for sure. Oh and a fellow nyer where are you delivering? Im going to be at sinai. And congrats on telling your parents! How did it go?

@LCTBQE has inspired me to be brave. I had to excuse myself from two due date boards last year, so I've just been lurking here. Anyway, I'm excited to join you ladies!
Location: Northern california
EDD: 8/21
How far along: 11w1day
First child? No. DD is 2.
First doctor appointment: had some drama at the beginning, so I've already had a few appointments. Things have been looking good though. Next appointment is this Friday.
Any symptoms so far: still have some nausea and fatigue, but it seems to be letting up a bit.
Who have you told: just a few close friends who knew about my losses. Planning to tell family after harmony results are in (doing the bloodwork sometime this week).

If anyone has lingering nausea, I've been having a lot of luck with ginger capsules. If kept getting nauseous in the afternoon, so I started taking 1000mg of ginger after lunch and it has worked really well for me!

@Pirouette: you're in NY! for some reason I think I was assuming you lived in your beach pic I'm in Brooklyn but my OBs also deliver at Sinai-- did you have your first baby there? are you in the city? hopefully when the time comes I won't get stuck in traffic on the FDR... and my parents have been hounding me to get married and have a baby for a couple of years now, so they were thrilled.
@Zbug: you joined!! I just realized my wall is a sea of purple and yours is all ghost dog will you be doing an NT scan on Friday?
nectarine / 2461 posts
@mrschickpea: thank you for the warm welcome. I just had my Panorama blood draw today! I have a friend who also had to re-do the test. hang in there I wonder if you could go back at 14w or something instead?
pomegranate / 3331 posts
@LCTBQE: haha I only wish I lived in Aruba I work in the city and lived there for over a decade until last year, now I'm in the burbs. But I'm sticking with my doctor and delivering at Sinai again because I had a great experience last time. Although I will say commuting to the city in labor is one of the reasons I'm having a repeat c section instead of going for a vbac! That said, I've never been in labor but I do think most first babies take so long to come that no amount of fdr traffic could really pose a problem for most!

@mrschickpea: I'm so sorry you have to have the test redone. Such a bummer since 12 weeks seems to be standard!
@LCTBQE: Congratulations and welcome to this group! I'm so sorry you've been feeling m/c PTSD. I've been feeling extreme infertility PTSD that I can't seem to shake. I hope we both can get past this!
@Zbug: Congratulations and welcome! I'm so sorry you've had drama. There's been a few of us in here, myself included, who've had our own share of drama so hopefully you will get the support here that you need.
@dcw6411: Hi there! How are you doing? Has your bleeding stopped? My appointment went pretty okay. The doctor tried a doppler and surprisingly found the heart beat really quickly! The heartbeat was around 165 and doctor said that the baby is high (although it felt super low to me). She took a look around but didn't see any obvious source of the bleed so she wasn't concerned at all. Husband convinced me this morning to do genetic blood test so I'm going to get that blood drawn tomorrow. Its costing us $130. My mom is paying some, but overall not too terribly horrible of a price. I think husband is just worried because of all the bleeding and I'm sure he's hoping/expecting a good genetics test to put his mind at ease.
One thing though.. when I was checking out, the receptionist told me that she/they/whoever wanted patients to book appointment with all three doctors in the office so that i will be comfortable with whoever is on call at the time I deliver. Ummmm... wait a minute. I just want my one doctor. So I didn't even ask any questions and just walked out. But I don't really like this kind of policy. I just want my doctor to be paged at where ever she happens to be day or night the minute I go into labor and come and deliver my baby. Isn't that how it generally works?

@agold: Lurking from the Sept. thread, but it's very normal to be attended during labor by whoever is on call. My preferred midwife ended up delivering H but it could have been one of her colleagues. It just depended.

@MrsSCB: @Silva: @mrschickpea: @pregnantbee: @HLK208: @HLK208: thanks, ladies!
@Pirouette: thanks! 2 is so fun! And crazy
@LCTBQE: so true! I don't think I'm getting an nt scan since I'm getting the harmony test. Does that sound right?
cantaloupe / 6059 posts
@agold: It's very rare these days to have one provider that is guaranteed to be there at delivery. Usually there is a group and they all share delivery responsibilities - they all have their on call days and nights and whenever you go into labor is who you get. The only time I was guaranteed a certain provider was with my first birth - a home birth midwife.
@HLK208: I am sure tomorrow's scan will be just fine! Looking forward to hearing all about it and good news.
@Silva: Ooooh I might have to try those! Apple cider vinegar has oddly enough been helping me a lot in the mornings.
@Zbug: Welcome! We're glad you're here!
@LCTBQE: Congrats and welcome! Glad you're joining us!

@avivoca: and @coopsmama: Thanks for letting me know this! I'm really quite surprised by this. I haven't heard of any of my friends having a different doctor deliver them. But they have PPO insurance and I have HMO, so I was wondering if this was some "you get what you pay for" crappy end of the HMO deal. I've otherwise been so happy with HMO and my doctor in general.

@agold: My midwives say that it is so they can have time with their families. They operate on 12 hour on-call shifts.
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@avivoca: It does make sense that they want time with their families. My doctor is a young mom herself. I like the other female doctor and haven't ever met the male doctor but I'm sure he will be fine too. I'll try not to be baby over this. I don't have the energy to look into what I could do about it even if I was I bothered enough about it.
cantaloupe / 6059 posts
@agold: I had to have a transfer of care with my first labor thirty hours in so I had never even laid eyes on the on call hospital doctor and I was amazed by how it was such a non-issue to me. I would've thought I would have hated having an OB I had never met but I think when you're in the already crazy state that is labor and you're so focused on just getting through it the doctor is really the least of concerns. So I would imagine if you have the opportunity to at least meet them a few times that would make it better!
pineapple / 12234 posts
@agold: it depends on the practice - my current OB handles all his patients deliveries night/day, office days, days off, etc.
My old office had a staff of about a dozen doctors. I only met 3 of them during my entire pregnancy and none of them delivered my baby! A new doctor did and even though there weren't any problems...I was nervous haha. I think it's great to get to know who might be delivering your baby. I think 3 doctors sound more reasonable! But yeah, I do like just having one doctor that I know pretty well.

@coopsmama: That makes sense too. Thanks for telling me. Three of my friends I talked to had no clue what I was talking about, so I'm glad some of you here had different doctors during birth.
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@HLK208: Is your current doctor the sole doctor in his/her office? I wonder if that makes a difference.
