I had my first ultrasound yesterday and they moved my date up to January 4. I'm not completely convineed that's right bc I know when we dtd (literally just once) and based on my due date I would have ovulated a week after that. So I'm hoping I'm not measuring small but they did not have one concern or even mention it, so I guess I'll just go with it!

Heartbeat was good it was 146!

    @renee0106: Glad everything looked good!

I cant wait for mine. I haven't had my first u/s yet. So anxious

@swurlygurl: My dh thinks that too! Well, until he pulled some meat out of the refrigerator and I ran to the bathroom dry heaving Now I think he gets it. Maybe.

@Rescuemom10: 3.5 months isn't too bad. Hopefully it goes by quick for you!

@renee0106: yay for a great heartbeat!

@MountainBaby: If all is going well, I think the standard first appt is between 8-10 weeks, so don't worry! I could have gone in at 8 weeks but my doc wasn't available and I wanted to see her again so I'm waiting until 10 weeks, gah. 11 more days! So nervous as I don't feel pregnant! I just want to see a little heart flickering away.

@Rescuemom10: Me either! When is yours?

Just curious, who have you ladies told about your pregnancies yet?

We have only told my dad and brother, and I made them promise not to tell anyone. We haven't even told DH's parents yet. Today I just found out that my dad told a bunch of his family members (he was making an excuse for why I wasn't at my cousin's wedding this weekend). I am really angry at him. I had told my cousin about our previous pregnancy in the fall and then later had to tell her when I miscarried...and it made her super upset. Now we might have to do it all over again. And DH is sad now because my cousins now know before his own mother.

@catlady: that's rough. I got a little pissed off at my mom when she told my aunt the other day. I wanted to be the one to tell my cousin, her daughter. Oh well.

So far we told all our parents, our siblings, some close friends. The three bosses I work the closest with at my firm, my secretary. I told more people than I would've, but after that whole miscarriage misdiagnosis I couldn't keep my mouth shut because the story was so insane.

@catlady: Man, that SUCKS! I'm sorry

Well, this is our third, so I just kind of blurted it out to everyone just about right away. It's not 'FB official' yet, so I'm trying to figure out what kind of picture I want to take to put on FB to announce it to the remainder of people that don't know (out of town family and friends, pretty much).

  8. swurlygurl

    honeydew / 7091 posts

@marley: I wouldn't have been able to keep my mouth shut either! That is probably one of the craziest stories I've heard - and to think that you could have listened to the Dr's advice and taken the medication... ugh, makes me sick! I'm SO glad you got a second opinion

  9. KayKay

    pear / 1961 posts

@catlady: we don't really do any fancy announcements on social media or anything, so i have just been telling family/good friends when we see them and/or it's appropriate. we've asked our parents not to make blanket family announcements until after 1st tri testing, but i don't care if they randomly tell good friends/close family either.

got to hear hb on doppler this morning at the doc. 12w and hoping for the 1st tri blahs to pass any day now! going for NT scan next week.

Finally decided on a new OB and I get to see her tomorrow! Please be normal and nice. I'm not that picky!

@KayKay: Congrats on the heartbeat! My NT scan is coming up too (this Friday). I'm so nervous I can't stand it.

@marley: I wouldn't have been able to keep it quiet either! Such a crazy story.

On a family vacay with my mom who knows about my crazy sickness (HG?).
She said today that she was sorry I was so sick and not enjoying myself.
I said that while yes, I was very sick I was still having a good time.
She was kinda snooty and said well she wishes I wasn't sick. And I replied that I wish I wasn't too.
Then she said she just wanted me to enjoy myself. I said I am, if you have some expectation of me, like spending more of my awake time with you, etc just tell me! Rather than dancing around it with I wish you felt better!
    Grrr

By the way not sure if I like Diclegis or not. If I take it, my nausea is gone. But I'm a zombie, sleep all day and can't get anything done.
Or I skip it, I'm awake, but throw up all day and can't keep anything down

  14. marley

@wheres_c: omg that's really annoying. It seems like she only cares about having a nice vacation? Sorry if I'm being too negative or presumptuous.

@wheres_c: Man, you need a break! Did you have bad MS with your first pregnancy? I really hope it eases up for you soon.
Can you add in some extra caffeine...? Haha

  16. wheres_c

    pomelo / 5789 posts

@swurlygurl: Haha! I thought I had bad MS with #1. (But knew it could be way worse, after reading peoples experiences here with HG).
    #2 is 100% worse.

    @marley: yup sounds about right!

@wheres_c: Did it eventually leave (hopefully somewhere around 12 weeks?), or did it stick around your entire pregnancy?

I was out in the sun for only about 15 minutes (I'm used to sun bathing for 5 hours), so I was totally blindsided by heat exhaustion.

I felt super dizzy and faint, I almost collapsed but tried really hard just to get to some shade. My vision went white and I started sweating only after I was in the shade.

I cooled down and drank some water. Felt better after 15 minutes and just stayed out of the sun for another few hours.

I'm hoping baby is okay. Sent an email to my doctor but just waiting to hear back.

Didn't realize how sensitive my body was when I'm pregnant. Sheesh. I'll have to wear a hat if I'm going to be in the sun longer than 10 minutes from now on.

    Definitely new for me.

  20. marley

    kiwi / 706 posts

@stiletto_mom: Oh no! Hope everything's ok! Also, good to know for my upcoming island vacation. I loooooove sunbathing.

  21. KT326

    pomegranate / 3438 posts

@stiletto_mom: @marley: Definitely be careful in the sun! During my first pregnancy I read somewhere that spending 30 minutes in the sun while pregnant is like spending 3 hours in the sun. (Or something like that). Lots of water and sunscreen. Pregnant women get dehydrated so much faster.

  22. marley

    kiwi / 706 posts

@KT326: that's crazy! Thanks for the tip! With my first, my babymoon was completely rained out so I didn't get any sun at all.

  23. KT326

    pomegranate / 3438 posts

@wheres_c: That just sounds awful Hopefully it goes away soon!

@catlady: We've told parents, siblings and some close friends. I did tell my boss because of the morning sickness. I also got mad at my Mom because she told my sister before I could. She did it with my first pregnancy too! I really should know better, she can't keep quiet about anything.

  24. KT326

    pomegranate / 3438 posts

@marley: It's nuts. I went to a baseball game the other weekend. TMI but I drank so much water and only peed once! My body was just absorbing it all. Plus I feel like I have to apply sunscreen every hour instead of two hours. I'm not even fair skinned and usually don't burn that easy. But when I'm pregnant all bets are off. Hopefully you don't get rained out this time!

  25. stiletto_mom

    persimmon / 1183 posts

@marley: Yes, definitely becareful. I totally overestimated myself. Before, I never thought twice about wearing a hat. I can't believe it happened so quickly. And it was so scary when my vision went.

I was trying everything NOT to collapse and vomit.

@KT326: Yea, learned the lesson the hard way. =( I'm hoping everything's okay. Won't see baby on the ultrasound until next Friday and now I'm so anxious and worried that it might have affected baby.

  26. catlady

    grapefruit / 4988 posts

@stiletto_mom: Oh man, that sounds scary! If you're worried about the baby, I'd give your OB a call just in case. Hope you are doing ok! I definitely remember having all sorts of issues in sun and hot weather when I was pregnant with LO (one super hot weekend, I swelled up like 5 pounds in a day and was terrified).

  27. stiletto_mom

    persimmon / 1183 posts

@catlady: OB just responded to my email. She told me to stay hydrated and rested and that baby should be okay.

I feel a little better, but won't totally until I see him/her on the ultrasound next Friday. @__@

Just had my first appointment at 8w6d today. We actually were able to hear the heartbeat! Amazing she could find it so early. For those of you who are doing NIPT screenings like MaterniT21, are you also having an NT scan? NP says they are redundant, which I understand, but that also means no U/S until the anatomy scan. I was hoping to see the little bean sooner than that

@stiletto_mom: Hope you are feeling better! Glad your OB got right back to you!

  29. marley

    kiwi / 706 posts

@GreenThumb: I think they're only redundant in that they both screen for chromosomal abnormalities. The NT scan can detect physical abnormalities that's not possible with a blood draw. I hope I can get both too! I'm seeing my new OB today and I'll ask her about that.

  30. GreenThumb

    pear / 1986 posts

@marley: I was a bit surprised. I'll be curious what your OB says!

  31. catlady

    grapefruit / 4988 posts

@GreenThumb: Congrats on the heartbeat, that's amazing! If everything goes well, I will be doing both materniti21 and the NT scan, and that seems to be typical in my OB practice for AMA or high risk women.

Sadly, we actually discovered my last missed m/c during the NT scan last time (I was supposed to get the materniti21 blood draw right afterwards but obviously at that point, I didn't). So I wonder if my practice does that to prevent doing the materniti21 test (which can be expensive) on women who have missed miscarriages. They definitely always schedule them on the same day.

  32. GreenThumb

    pear / 1986 posts

@catlady: Curious... I may need to get some more info from my OB especially since I am AMA. When she was initially trying to find the HB with the doppler I was saying to her that I was worried about a missed MC (if she didn't find it today) because I wouldn't have another OB appointment until 13 weeks. I'm on all sort of meds for the IVF which I am afraid might mask my symptoms if something bad happened.

  33. catlady

    grapefruit / 4988 posts

@GreenThumb: It does seem odd that they wouldn't offer you the scan too in your case. I'd definitely ask your OB if you can get one anyway.

Who is/isn't going to find out the sex of the baby? Any gender preference? (some people think this is such a horrible thing, but I don't think so? Of course you will love and be happy with any baby you get!)

We definitely are - so excited! We have 2 girls already, so I'm super anxious to see if we get a third sister, or if we get a poor younger brother who will be tortured by his older sisters for the rest of his life
Poor DH wants a boy pretty badly, so I am hoping for a boy for him. Though, I selfishly just want a 3rd girl. So either way, I will be so happy with either!!

  37. marley

@swurlygurl: totally finding out with the MaterniT 21 or Genome test!

Also: my due date is now 12/23.

    grapefruit / 4988 posts

@swurlygurl: We're definitely finding out the sex. I'm excited this time to find out sooner with materniti21. I am torn because I would love for LO to get a sister, but I would also love for DH to have a son. We are 2 and through regardless, so I will be both happy and sad no matter what.

I just had my ultrasound today! I heard the heartbeat loud and clear And the measurements put me ahead so I'm now due on 12/20.

Personally I'm torn on whether or not to find out. I love planning ahead, but it seems like such a fun surprise to wait! DH on the other hand wants to find out, so we'll probably end up doing that since he has a preference.
