@photojane: Woohoo! You're adorable! And I think I have those shoes...

@photojane: you look adorable! and the chalkboard! that's some talent there, lady!

    @ladyfingers: a baby boy!!!!

I've started doing a prenatal fitness class last week and am loving it. We do a bit of cardio, stretching, weights and kegels. I'm the only one in their 2nd trimester...everyone else is in the 3rd! One woman is 37.5 weeks pregnant!

    @ladyfingers: @Mrs. Lantern: thanks ladies!

I need some fitness. I'm so excited fall is approaching, so I can actually take a walk every day!

  4. JessiBee

    kiwi / 733 posts

I need fitness too, and I'm one of those strange people who actually likes the gym. Most of the time. But I can only really fit it in my schedule in the mornings, and I've been so ridiculously exhausted that getting up early, even for the gym, seems counter-productive. So...very little gym. Ideas on getting my (growing) tush moving?!

  5. JerricaBenton

    pomegranate / 3872 posts

I try to go to the gym 3 times a week and do stretching the other days. I'm starting a prenatal pilates class in September so I'm excited about that!

Oh and I am sooo excited for cooler weather so I can finally get back outside. It's even been too hot for our dog!

@photojane: Love the bump photo and the blackboard.

Is anyone planning to take a babymoon? If so, when and where?

DH and I are thinking about it. I don't necessarily want to spend too much $ or travel to far. My basic requirements are that I just want to relax, spend some quality couple time, and eat delicious food.

  8. ladyfingers

    pomelo / 5331 posts

@WALLAROO: I don't think we'll be able to, LO is coming pretty soon after Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's, and I don't want to use any PTO at work since I'll have leave in February! I'm kinda bummed, though.

  9. Baby Boy Mom

    pomegranate / 3983 posts

@ladyfingers: congrats! boys are awesome! not that I'm partial or anything...

@thatwife: that's really cute! We are going public later this week assuming all is well with the u/s. LO is only 14 months though so I don't think he's going to be talking on demand for a while

@Wallaroo: I'm really hoping we can fit in a trip in Nov/Dec. Since we're in Mexico we would probably go somewhere local, but it all depends on DH's schedule. I told him that if he ends up not having time, I'm going to take LO to visit my In-Laws so at least I get a little break.

  10. WALLAROO

    kiwi / 711 posts

@ladyfingers: I don't want to us my PTO either. I want to save it for after the babies are born. This is why I'm thinking of just doing a weekend getaway to some place pretty local.

@Baby Boy Mom: Ooh someplace in Mexico would be fun!

  11. JerricaBenton

    pomegranate / 3872 posts

We're planning a trip to California in October. I'll be 22 weeks. Hopefully I'll still be feeling good and we'll get to enjoy some relaxation time! We're driving about 6 hours to see my in-laws for Thanksgiving when I'll be 27 weeks. That won't be a vacation so much but it'll be our last trip pre-baby!

  12. JessiBee

    kiwi / 733 posts

I wish, but we're also pretty limited on the time off. Maybe we'll do a not-too-far-away weekend thing when I'm around 24/25 weeks (since I have a weekend off then)...but probably only if I start planning it!

Hi girls...found this on WB. Looks like a good way to track our progress

    ---

    How far along/EDD: 16w2d...EDD Feb 9 (my sister's birthday!)

Total Weight Gain: 3lbs (was really concerned as I hear that we're supposed to gain 1lb a week in 2nd trimester...but reading HB it seems like this varies greatly from person to person)

Stretch Marks: Haven't checked. Ignorance is bliss

Gender: Anatomy scan on Sept 21st! Hope LO cooperates so we can tell.

Names Picked: Going to wait to find out the gender first.

Nursery Theme (Is it complete): Umm not even close. Though we have received a beautiful hand me down bassinet from my wonderful cousin.

Birth Plan: Nothing set yet. I'm hoping to avoid a c-section unless there are complications. Watching The Business of Being Born has made me more aware of what options are out there.

How long are you taking off: 1 year (thanks canada mat leave!)

Milestones: The dreaded first trimester is over and nausea is mostly all gone.

Struggles: constant migraines and trying to keep to a healthy diet with my many food aversions

What are you most fearful/concerned about: my LO having genetic issues and health issues

What are you most excited about: our anatomy scan in 3 weeks! babymoon in 4 weeks! I've been saving up all my vacation days for this trip and can't wait to go It'll be our last trip to europe in a looong while.

  14. WALLAROO

    kiwi / 711 posts

    @Mrs. Lantern: Good idea!

How far along/EDD: 16w3d EDD is Feb 9th but probably delivering in mid to late January

Total Weight Gain: 13 pounds so far pretty much in my boobs and belly

Stretch Marks: Not that I've noticed but then again I haven't really been looking.

Gender: We have our anatomy scan on September 10. Can't wait!

Names Picked: None yet. We are waiting until September 10 to even think of names. There are too many possible combinations at this point and that makes my head spin.

Nursery Theme (Is it complete): Not yet. Haven't even thought about it

Birth Plan: Not yet. I know with twins that I have to be pretty flexible. Babies' health comes first.

How long are you taking off: Jealous of Canada maternity leave! I will probably take off around 20 weeks. Still undecided

Milestones: Looking forward to the anatomy scan and happy to be in my second tri!

Struggles: Nothing really. I'm feeling really good and doing well right now.

What are you most fearful/concerned about: pre-term labor. I want these babies to stay in as long as possible.

What are you most excited about: Just like Mrs. Lantern, our anatomy scan and babymoon. I saw a Groupon today for a hotel in Whistler. I think we are going to book that today. I have never been and am excited to go. It will be the off season but I'm ok with that. I just want to relax and eat good food.

  15. Phillybaby2013

    kiwi / 520 posts

    How far along/EDD: 17 weeks today...EDD Feb 5

Total Weight Gain: 2lbs but im not supposed to gain more than 20

Stretch Marks: not new ones atleast

Gender: Anatomy scan on Sept 11th!

Names Picked: Going to wait to find out the gender first.

Nursery Theme (Is it complete): Theme is going to be circus/Dumbo and we haven't started it yet but do have a dresser, nightstand and crib. Just got the crib on clearance on Sunday.

Birth Plan: I've thought about different things...skin to skin sounds like something I'd like to do... And I absolutely do not want a C-section unless all other options are exhausted. They scare me.

How long are you taking off: 11 weeks... Have to give a week to hubby since we work for the same company and have to share our FMLA - which is super lame and unfair.

Milestones: i took every day in the beginning as a milestone than each week that passed...now 2nd trimester and flutters!

Struggles: nausea and MS which is still hanging around : ( and now the headaches! They're awful. I broke down on my couch tonight in front of hubby after he handed me tylenol and iced tea. I just want to feel good for one whole day.

What are you most fearful/concerned about: I'm still slightly paranoid about baby being okay in there but I don't stress over it. And I'm a little scared that I won't know what to do when baby gets here. Oh and how am I going to afford daycare. Yikes.

What are you most excited about: seeing the baby again in 2 weeks and finding out the gender! I'm counting the minutes! Hopefully baby cooperates... And feeling the first distinguishable kicks and jabs even tho I love the flutters.

great idea for the updates! i love reading about how everyone is doing!

    here's mine:

    How far along/EDD: 16w1d / EDD is february 11th

Total Weight Gain: 3lbs, but i'm not sure how that's possible since i look like i gained about 20!

Stretch Marks: yes i had stretch marks before, but they're already multiplying. boooo!

Gender: the anatomy scan is the 19th, but we're both pretty convinced it's a girl.

Names Picked: girl: sadie rose; boy: silas edward

Nursery Theme (Is it complete): we're not necessarily going with a "theme," but just bright, cheerful, and cozy. we're definitely doing a book wall (a la pinterest: http://pinterest.com/pin/252623860317300769/). i'm having a children's book themed shower so we can fill up our book wall!

Birth Plan: happy and healthy baby and mama!

How long are you taking off: i have an extremely flexible job, so
i only plan on taking a few weeks off of work completely. once i go back to the hospital it will only be for a few hours once or twice a week.

Milestones: the 12 week ultrasound was incredible. hubs and i both teared up when we saw that our little bouncy peanut actually looked like a baby. the most recent milestone is feeling the tiny little bubbly movements!

Struggles: OH LAWD... the sickness. it won't leave me alone. just yesterday i had the most violent bout of sickness i could possibly imagine... like can't breath or control myself sickness.

What are you most fearful/concerned about: affording these medical bills. we have an insanely high deductible, so getting bills is gut-wrenching.

What are you most excited about: seeing peanutbaby on the 19th, and finding out if we'll be meeting sadie or silas in february!

  17. JerricaBenton

    pomegranate / 3872 posts

How far along/EDD: Just about 16 weeks - Feb 15

Total Weight Gain: 6 or 7 lbs I think

Stretch Marks: Nope - I'm hoping because my mom didn't get them that I won't!

Gender: Hoping to find out last week in September!

Names Picked: First names yes, middle not yet

Nursery Theme (Is it complete): No! It's still an office! I'm not planning on doing any of that until October or November.

Birth Plan: I'm hoping for drug free and immediate skin-to-skin contact but that's all I've got so far. I haven't taken any birth classes yet - I'm sure I'll have a better idea after that!

How long are you taking off: I just help my husband with his company so I'm pretty much a SAHW/M.

Milestones: Reaching the second tri! Have felt a few little flutters!

Struggles: Heartburn like clockwork at 3:00PM 'til bedtime and trouble sleeping - but I've had it pretty good so I'm not going to complain!

What are you most fearful/concerned about: I'm pretty anxious in general so it's still always in the back of my mind to wonder if everything is ok, will the baby be healthy etc, but I pray and meditate (cheesy music included!) every day and it has me feeling pretty good right now.

What are you most excited about: Seeing the baby at the next US and finding out the gender! Feeling a real kick!

  18. ladyfingers

    pomelo / 5331 posts

    Awesome!

    How far along/EDD: 17w3d...EDD Feb 3

    Total Weight Gain: 10 lbs

    Stretch Marks: Nothing yet!

    Gender: Boy!

    Names Picked: Derek John

Nursery Theme (Is it complete): We know what we're doing -- baseball/Yankees so the colors will be gray walls and navy/white everything else with some red accents. But nothing has been started yet, we only found out the gender last week.

Birth Plan: My goal is to be as close to natural as possible given the particular circumstances and baby's stress level. I'm giving birth in a hospital with an OB or midwife (depending on who's on call from our practice) and but unless ABSOLUTELY necessary I do not want to be induced, given a C-section, given an episiotomy, have vacuum/forceps, etc. I'm not ruling out an epidural but I want to see how long I can go without one.

How long are you taking off: 12 weeks, but nothing has been finalized yet at work

Milestones: I think I'm feeling kicks, or hiccups! Definitely more activity today than ever before, mild popping sensation in my abdomen

Struggles: Headaches! Oy, the headaches. My heartburn hasn't been as bad as usual this week, though.

What are you most fearful/concerned about: I just want to make it through pregnancy with few complications and have a healthy baby boy.

What are you most excited about: The anatomy scan on 9/12! Even though we know what we're having, I live to see the little bean on screen, and I am really excited to see all his different parts and get a clean bill of health for him.

  19. tororojo

    grapefruit / 4669 posts

    How far along/EDD: 14 weeks tomorrow/Feb 28

    Total Weight Gain: 3 lbs

Stretch Marks: Haven't noticed any yet! Haven't grown much yet, though...my tummy is starting to poke out a little

    Gender: Won't know until October!

    Names Picked: Luisa or Silas

Nursery Theme (Is it complete): Bright colors...I'm a mix-and-match person, no themes. Not sure if we will be in our current apartment by Feb or not so it will be awhile before we start decorating.

Birth Plan: I will tough it out while I can, then epidural, please! No c-section unless someone's life depends on it.

How long are you taking off: Hopefully forever! (well, until the kid(s) is/are in school)

Milestones: The nausea is getting better and my sleep is getting worse, even after taking Unisom.

Struggles: Having to decide whether I'd rather poop like a normal human or take a Zofran and not be nauseated.

What are you most fearful/concerned about: A baby that isn't healthy or doesn't make it! I know the odds are slim, but the unknown is scary.

What are you most excited about: I can't wait to feel kicks and have a bump!

@photojane: I thought we had picked a pretty unique boy name until I looked at the SS list for recent years...I think ours would be Silas Michael, but Edward was 2nd choice! Great minds.

  20. photojane

    cantaloupe / 6164 posts

@tororojo: i got so excited when i saw you chose silas! it's ranked just below 200 on ss list, but i've never met anyone by that name, so i consider it pretty unique. edward is a family name (generations and generations of men in my husband's family, including him). i love silas michael!

  21. tororojo

    grapefruit / 4669 posts

@photojane: I don't know anyone with the name, either! I have a love affair with boy names that end in s: Titus, Linus, Elvis, Otis...I think Silas is a great one! I just had no idea it would be in the top 200 since I've never met one, either. My only hangup was the creepy guy in the Da Vinci Code, but I decided that the biblical Silas cancels him out. I think Silas Edward sounds really nice--DH vetoed it because of the Twilight connotation (even though he has never read or seen the movies). Silly husband. Yay for baby name twins! Now watch us both have girls!

  22. Baby Boy Mom

    pomegranate / 3983 posts

love the updates! and perfect timing for us because we have some news!

    How far along/EDD: 14 weeks/ Feb 25

    Total Weight Gain: 4 lbs

    Stretch Marks: not new ones

Gender: Boy! We are totally shocked/happy..weren't expecting to find out at this appointment..

Names Picked: none yet, but the "advice" has already started rolling in (eye roll)

Nursery Theme: no nursery, Baby Boy 2 will be sharing a room with Baby Boy 1

Birth Plan: hoping for a VBAC but no expectation at this point

How long are you taking off: already a SAHM

Milestones: Baby Boy 2 waved to us on the u/s!

Struggles: can't sleep on stomach/back anymore, tired (but so happy that morning sickness is pretty much over)

What are you most fearful/concerned about: two boys under two...eek!

What are you most excited about: finally telling people!

  23. JessiBee

    kiwi / 733 posts

    Ok, I'll play too...

    How far along/EDD: almost 16 weeks / mid-Feb.

Total Weight Gain: Honestly? I seldom get on the scale. I guess I'll check with the doctor next week!

Stretch Marks: None that I've noticed.

Gender: Don't know yet. Anatomy scan is early October, but we're planning on finding out...and then keeping it a secret

Names Picked: Nothing yet. Definitely not in a hurry on this one either.

Nursery Theme: Not thinking of a specific theme, but probably a color combo: pale greens, blues, purples...for whatever is growing in there!

Birth Plan: Definitely no plan yet. And trying not to make this make me feel behind!

How long are you taking off: I get 8 weeks plus 4 part time, and I plan to use all of them!

Milestones: I haven't needed an afternoon nap for a week or so! That feels like a major milestone right now. I haven't felt baby move, but I'm not sure what I should be hoping to feel, so please enlighten me!

Struggles: Sleeping. I seem to have a lot of trouble going back to sleep after the inevitable middle of the night bathroom trip. I also have been getting sore hips and shoulders from sleeping on my side.

What are you most fearful/concerned about: The unknown.

What are you most excited about: New milestones, and sharing excitement with people as they find out!

  24. ladyfingers

    pomelo / 5331 posts

@JessiBee: I've been describing the movement as faint popping sensations in my abdomen, or muscle spasms. I've gotten confirmation from the doctor and others that that's the baby -- who knows though! I'm calling it the baby

  25. Emilie

    cherry / 144 posts

    yay for updates!

    How far along/EDD: 16 weeks and 4 days / February 10th

Total Weight Gain: 1 lb (I look like I gained at least 5-10 though, so not sure why the scale isn't reflecting this)

Stretch Marks: None yet - but I'm using Bella B Tummy Honey Butter after a friend recommended it every now and then... if it doesn't help stretch marks, it would at least help itchy skin that we'll all be getting soon

Gender: Anatomy scan is scheduled for September 10th!

Names Picked: We might have a girl name decided, but I think boy's names are so hard! We'll do some more thinking after we find out gender.

Nursery Theme (Is it complete): Not even started - we're not buying anything until we know the gender, and we live in a small condo so our nursery = our guest bedroom, so all of our decor has to fit around our sofa bed when it is pulled out to be a queen sized bed!

Birth Plan: So, I initially thought that I was going to try to do the natural drug-free birth, but then my sister just had her second baby this past weekend, and said... Emilie, I highly recommend the epidural =P If you have anyone to compare your pain tolerance with, wouldn't it be a sibling?? haha... so, I think I'm going to be more open drugs if I think I need it, rather than force myself to go a certain route.

How long are you taking off: My work offers 12 weeks maternity leave, but I'm considering being a SAHM. Still undecided! Day care is just so expensive in downtown Boston, so we'll see!

Milestones: I've felt a little bit of a vibration now and then, but no little flutters yet. I can't wait to really feel something!

Struggles: Uh, yes to the headaches!!! They aren't as severe as I used to get them prior to being pregnant, but they happen almost every day and are really annoying! Tylenol usually works pretty well, but I'm trying not to take it every time I get a headache unless I really have to do work or go somewhere later in the day.

What are you most fearful/concerned about: I just want a healthy baby - what more can a mom ask for??

What are you most excited about: ANATOMY SCAN!! a little over a week more to go

  26. Mrs. Lantern

    apricot / 359 posts

Wow, a lot of you have your anatomy scans soon! So exciting!!

@Baby Boy Mom: yay a baby boy! Two boys under 2 sounds like a lot of work but also so much fun

@ladyfingers: @Phillybaby2013: @Emilie: I hear you on the headaches. While mine is usually dull, I'm finding it so hard to focus at work since I feel it all day and night and sleep isn't making it go away! I did take a tylenol for it last week and it made such a difference. I have a love/hate relationship with tylenol.

Have any of you announced on fb yet? If not, are you planning to? We did and it was incredible to hear the outpour of support and love, especially from family and friends miles and miles away. But of course, I totally get more people staring at my belly now since we've "officially" announced the news

  27. Phillybaby2013

    kiwi / 520 posts

@Mrs. Lantern: we announced on FB after our NT scan and it felt really good. I didn't want to individually tell people at work so that covered mostly everyone and the rest found out eventually by word of mouth. It was really nice to hear from all our friends and family and how genuinely happy and excited they were for us. I'm seeing my extended family for the first time since my dad told them so I'm going to get attacked but it's all good especially now that I feel like you can definitely tell I'm pregnant. When we first told, people automatically look at your stomach and that made me so self conscious bc there wasn't much to show for it... But not now!

  28. JessiBee

    kiwi / 733 posts

We haven't announced on facebook. First I wanted to make sure I got to tell certain people myself, and now I have another doctor's appointment next week (but not the scan yet), so I'm kind of waiting to make sure everything still looks good. I'm looking forward to sharing it there, I just haven't taken that step yet!

    @Phillybaby2013: Yay! so exciting.

@Mrs. Lantern: I'm right there with you. I don't think I've felt anything that resembles a flutter or quickening. You'd think with two of them in there I'd feel something!

@Mrs. Lantern: we announced on facebook after our first u/s at 9 weeks. we made a little digital announcement with some pictures. i couldn't wait any longer... i'm not patient.

@Phillybaby2013: so awesome! i'm feeling little popping, but no discernible kicks yet. i can't wait for that moment.

i had my first stranger to make a comment about my pregnancy yesterday. i guess i officially look pregnant and not just fat!
