@Phillybaby2013: I'm sure it will! They probably do get a little squished and have to move to get comfy again! That's my story and I'm sticking to it

@Mrs. Lantern: thanks! We're not doing a facebook announcement. We actually made a little video that we emailed to our friends and extended family. It's been a great response!

Hello everyone! How was your long weekend?
Mine was ok. We had to deal with some doggie tummy issues so that part wasn't too fun but I FINALLY felt flutters! I was so excited. There I was sitting at the vet waiting to be called in and all of a sudden felt that bubble popping sensation which was so different from anything I had felt before. It was so amazing. It kind of tickled too :). 6 more days until our anatomy scan....not that I'm counting or anything.

@WALLAROO: Yay! I had that tickly feeling last night, it felt like something was running along the inside of me really lightly. It made me giggly

@WALLAROO, @ladyfingers: Yay! So glad you guys are feeling stuff! It's so strange isn't it? I haven't had any more kicks or at least what i thought was a kick but the flutters are increasing and i feel them throughout the day.
My weekend was okay. Was out shopping all day Saturday and got a really cute dress for a wedding we have this weekend... Yesterday we did absolutely nothing all day which was nice but I could NOT sleep last night bc of it. And today my pelvis is super achy especially in my sacrum and i feel a headache coming on. Geez. How's everyone else been feeling?

@Phillybaby2013: I have a wedding to go to this weekend too. I thought that I could wear one of my pre-pregnancy dresses but I tried it on this weekend and it is not going to work. All of my regular dresses are fitted so it looks like I will have to do some shopping on my lunch break. Hope I find something! Sorry to hear about the lack of sleep and headache.

@WALLAROO: i thought I could do the same thing with no such luck. I had ordered a dress from Destination Maternity and it was terrible so i went to the store to return it and tried like 6 dresses on and the last one I loved. Black and kinda plain but still dressy. I couldn't believe how pregnant it made me look... Not gonna lie I was slightly self conscious at first looking at myself with this new body but then it hit me - you're growing a baby and this is awesome. Still so surreal. Happy shopping! And we'll have to share pics of our dressed up bumps.

@Phillybaby2013: I had that exact same feeling when trying on clothes! At first I couldn't help but feel blah about the extra bulge and tried to hide it behind baggier clothes...but now I just love my bump so much and don't mind how certain clothes accentuate it.
@WALLAROO: yay to feeling the flutters! I still can't tell whether what I have are flutters, but it sounds like a gurgling party going on in there.
I went to the PNE, an annual fair in Vancouver, this weekend and it was so fun! Petting farm, cinnamon sugar mini donuts, motocross...and get this, they even had a Star Trek exhibition this year! I've never been much of a trekkie fan but it was fun to be surrounded by so many.

I have felt something in there (finally!), but I haven't decided whether it was baby or gas or hunger, or some combination of all three! I also went shopping over the weekend, and couldn't believe how pregnant I look in maternity clothes! Agreed...it's kind of fun
I'm still trying to keep wearing my bigger regular clothes for now, at least at work (although they know I'm pregnant), but all weekend...maternity jeans were SO much more comfy than regular ones!

New bump pic! My scrub tops are getting increasingly too small... Think it's time to go shopping!

@Phillybaby2013: love the bump!
i felt my first really strong baby movements at like 4:30 this morning! my husband gets up for work at 4, and when i tried to go back to sleep i laid on my side funny and baby went CRAZY. he/she was like, "MOM! you're squishing me!" i'm already a bad mama though--i kept doing it so i could feel him/her.

@JessiBee: How exciting! And that's so true about maternity clothes. I started wearing them almost exclusively (except for some shirts that are long enough and roomy enough) the day after we announced at 12 weeks! I love wearing tight shirts that show off the bump, and love that I don't have to suck it in. My maternity jeans make me look so much more round. And everything else just makes me look fat!
@Phillybaby2013: Adorable!
@photojane: Aw, too cute! I poke my tummy and jiggle it around all the time to get him to respond lol.

I'll join in!
How far along/EDD: 16 weeks, 4 days
Total Weight Gain: I'm not really sure, we don't own a scale. Last doc appt I was up 4lbs.
Stretch Marks: Not yet, fingers crossed things stay that way
Gender: Team green for us!
Names Picked: We have a few picked out, I feel we're decided on a girls name but it's going to be a struggle for a boys
Nursery Theme: We don't have a 'theme' per say but the wall colors will be grey and the ceiling will be striped yellow and white.
Birth Plan: Just received my Hypnobirthing book, thinking of taking the classes with our Doula. My ideal would be natural.
How long are you taking off: Thinking of the year at this point, but I am self-employed so will be able to bits from home. Time will tell!
Milestones: Passing the first tri! I hoped daily for a 'sticky baby'
Struggles: I guess it would be days where I just don't feel like myself, so hormonal days. I feel bad for my husband at times because I think he wonders where his wife has gone!
What are you most fearful/concerned about: the unknown, having a c-section, not being the parent I hope to be...
What are you most excited about: new beginnings, learning more about myself and my husband. Bringing a baby into this world!

@lolabee: Welcome, we're happy to have you! I love the idea of a striped ceiling! You could do a cute circus theme like that, it reminds me (in a very good way) of a circus tent!

@lolabee: welcome and congrats! And kudos on being team green! I don't know how people do it these days... I NEED to know. Lol.
@ladyfingers: i desperately want to do a red and white stripe ceiling for our circus theme but I don't think hubby is going to let me. Although he did say that I could put fabric on the ceiling instead if I could manage it so go figure! Your Yankees theme
sounds cute btw! I saw ur post about the rug. I didn't open the link but if it's an area type rug could u put it over a solid wall to wall rug as an accent? I'm doing that with a round circus ball rug I found for the middle of the room.

@Mrs. Lantern: Yay! Isn't it amazing and totally different from any other feeling you experienced?
@lolabee: Welcome and congratulations!
@Phillybaby2013: My shopping trip was a semi-bust. I did not find a dress I liked at Destination Maternity but I did find a black pencil skirt a sleeveless hot pink top with black polka dots. Cute bump photo!

Ok, so I thought I'd update you ladies on what we found out in the past month and a half since our m/c.
Our daughter had a chromosomal abnormality called Turner Syndrome- Her second X chromosome didn't fully form. The doctors discovered that from the D&C testing results. This diagnosis gave us a sense of closure because we named her (Elizabeth Ann after our moms' middle names) and we know the reason why the m/c happened. I was so terrified it was something wrong with my body and I'd never be able to carry a baby to term. Apparently, this is a completely random occurance and there's no greater chance of miscarriage the next time I get pregnant.
We waited for AF and now that she's come and gone, we are officially TTC again. I've thought about y'all a lot and I truly hope y'all have beautiful, healthy babies in your arms in February. My little girl is in Heaven waiting on me and I've got a beautiful angel watching over me until then Good Luck in the coming months!!

@lilteacherbee: Thank you for updating us and im happy that you were able to have some closure. That's a beautiful name and you are right - your angel baby will always be with you, in Heaven and in your hearts. I admire your strength and am sending you lots of baby dust.

OK so all of a sudden today, little Derek is a karate black belt! I've been feeling him poke and prod me all day long, it's the craziest feeling because now I actually KNOW it's him! Part of it is little flutters that are NUTS down maybe 2-3 inches below my belly button.
And speaking of my belly button, dudes, it is SHALLOW. It is crazy to think that it may pop sometime soon, I thought it would be too early for this but it has already changed shape and doesn't even feel like my belly button!
cantaloupe / 6164 posts
@ladyfingers: i'm so, so jealous! i'm ready for the karate! though, when i can't sleep... i may regret saying that. did you already tell us his name was derek? i don't remember seeing that before. i love the name. is that an homage to your beloved yankees?!
pomelo / 5331 posts
@photojane: I'm not sure if I already posted that here, but yep! It's not named after Derek Jeter (I'm not a fan of any sports much less the Yankees) but DH jokingly brought it up one time and the more I thought about it, the more I really like the name Derek. The middle name will not be Jeter though, despite DH's wishes.
cantaloupe / 6164 posts
@ladyfingers: haha... i saw the nursery was going to be yankees, so i figured y'all were big fans! my husband is always recommending redskins players as names -- NO THANK YOU! derek is a good strong name... i like it!
pomelo / 5331 posts
@photojane: DH is the Yankees fan, I think a baseball theme is cute and I'm compromising by using the Yankees as the color inspiration and a couple of cute Yankees things as decor. NOT letting DH hang posters of players and his Yankees stuff, like he has requested a dozen and one times.

@lilteacherbee: Thank you for checking in. I'm glad you were able to find out why this happened. Your daughter's name is beautiful. Wishing you lots of luck during TTC.
@Phillybaby2013: Love the dressed up bump!
@ladyfingers: Yay for strong kicks! I can't wait for that feeling.
Today is the big anatomy scan. Wish me luck that the babies cooperate and decide to show their parts :). My appointment isn't until 3:45pm so I have to get through the work day. Good thing I have a full day of meetings to distract me.

Are there many Canadian Mama's on this thread?
I go in for a regular pre-natal tomorrow which will be quite uneventful in comparison to our US counterparts! Have to wait until October 1st (20 weeks!) to have our ultrasound. It's kind of funny because I definitely don't want to wish time away but really can't wait for that day to come!
I am also feeling very IMPATIENT waiting for my bump to show up....anyone else feeling this way? I have so many co workers & friends saying oh you STILL don't look pregnant?!
@WALLAROO: good luck at your scan!! Fingers crossed they'll be in a good position!

eeee!!
We just had our anatomy scan today (18 weeks and 1 day), and we're having a BABY GIRL!
It was so cool to see all of the measurements that they took - brain, heart, some major bones like the femur, they checked all of the fingers and toes, the spine, & bladder function. The baby was actually not in a great position to see the heart, so the technician asked me to jump around the room for a few minutes to try to get the baby to turn haha, it worked!!
I think just the fact that we're having a baby finally settled in for my husband today... and now I can start really shopping for the baby yay!!
Where are all of you ladies registering??
kiwi / 733 posts
@lolabee: I have to wait another few weeks too; I'll be just past 20 weeks, but my doc wanted me to wait until I was close to 20, and my schedule (combined with my husband's, so he can come too) was just complicated enough to make it difficult to schedule. I'm thinking everyone else's excitement about their news will have me even more excited about it day-of!
@Emilie: Congrats on your baby girl!!! I know I've had friends say that once they knew gender, it made the whole thing feel much more real.
The one part of the anatomy scan I'm not looking forward to: drink a lot, an hour before, and then hold it. I laughed at the nurse when she gave me the instructions. I believe my response was, "you do know I'm pregnant, right?!"
cherry / 144 posts
@JessiBee - Thanks!! I actually didn't have to have a full bladder for my anatomy scan. I did for the one at 11 weeks for the genetic screening ultrasound, but they said that I didn't need to for this time around. I guess this depends on the practice/office?

@Emilie: Omg congrats on ur baby girl!!! So exciting! We have ours at 6pm tonight so I hope this day goes by fast! Crossing my fingers and toes for a cooperative baby.

@JessiBee: I also didn't have to have a full bladder for the anatomy scan. She actually made me empty it prior to starting.
@Phillybaby2013: Good luck with your anatomy scan and hoping for a cooperative baby!

We had our anatomy scan yesterday as well. Babies are good and healthy. All the scans and measurements were right on. It was so amazing to see all the details and see the bones, brain, heart, kidneys, etc. We told our families last night and it was so fun to share the news!
