@ValentineMommy: Welcome! A V-day baby, how exciting! Good luck on your scan and update us on the results! I love both your name options.
@WALLAROO: Yes, baby has been moving a bunch at work! Right now it still just feels like tickles but I swear I've felt some solid kicks! We are sharing names, I was going to keep it a secret but I failed right away. It's a pretty basic name -- Derek -- so nobody has said anything. Thank goodness because I don't think I would react well!

@ValentineMommy: welcome! You're a day ahead of me :).
I have been feeling some more movement, I think, at random times. My favorite: if I'm sitting down and singing. So, in the car, at Rosh Hashanah services... I love it!

well, ladies.... we're team pink!! i'm so thrilled. we went and registered after the appointment and i was dying over the precious girly things. sadie rose is a petite but healthy little wiggle worm!

@photojane: congrats on team pink...and on just knowing your team!! And on choosing a beautiful name! So she cooperated after all. Any tips for those of us who aren't there yet?

@ValentineMommy: Welcome lady!! I recognized you from WB! : ) I check the Feb. board over there but I don't post much anymore bc I can't do it from my phone. Good luck with your scan!!
@photojane: Congrats on being Team Pink! So exciting!! And I love your name choice - it's beautiful.
Found out Monday that I need to have another ultrasound to get a few more pictures of the baby's heart and spine. The tech told us this may happen so I wasn't worried. I don't mind- another chance to see bubs. It's scheduled for Oct. 4th.
Today I pushed on my belly and the baby pushed back! Craziest thing ever. Keep it coming!! --We've been throwing names around too and my family has lots of input so I'm also considering keeping it a secret but I don't think it'll happen. I started working on a list today at work of ones I like but nothing has really been singled out so far. We'll see....I'm loving everyone else's choices so far tho!! And can't wait to hear more genders!

@tororojo: That will be our line as well.
@photojane: Congrats on the baby girl!
@JessiBee: So cute that the baby moves when you sing
@Phillybaby2013: Wow! Can't believe the baby pushed back.
Last night while I was laying on the couch I told DH that baby boy was up near my ribs and tapping me. DH put his hand on that spot and waited then said he felt it. So crazy. I thought it would be too early to feel it on the outside.

thanks for the love, guys!
i'm so jealous of y'all's big movements -- i can't wait until hubs can feel it too. we're still at the fluttery stage over here. although yesterday she was having a fun day and i could feel her most of the day. it was nice.

@ValentineMommy: welcome and congratulations! a valentine's baby would be awesome. so, are you team pink or blue?!
kiwi / 520 posts
@photojane: don't worry it'll happen! I swear my movements changed in like one day. Last night I was laying in bed and baby was having a dance party in there... At one point it felt like he was pulling on my belly button from the inside. It felt so weird but amazing too bc it definitely was an upgrade from the flutters and tickles I usually feel throughout the day. Still don't think I can feel anything on the outside tho. I want DH to be able to feel him!

i can't believe we're all about halfway through this thing! how is everyone feeling? anyone have a shower in the works?
kiwi / 733 posts
@photojane: Thank you for keeping our thread going! I always get a little jealous when I see the other ones popping up above ours. I'll try to be better about actually posting when I read.
I can't believe we're almost halfway there! Today's surprise was a newish friend who called and said she had some clothes for me to borrow that she wanted to drop off. She brought me THREE BAGS of maternity clothing, all clean and labeled with her initials (she just had her first a few months ago), as well as a couple of cute small pregnancy gifts. I'm so excited to try on new-to-me clothes, especially now that I've transitioned to wearing mainly maternity stuff!

@photojane - hahaha.. the weekend keeps everyone away from their computers! SOO excited that you're on team pink with me!! I have three girlfriends that are starting the planning process for a co-ed shower... it's probably going to be December 9th. My husband at first was just going to do something with his guy friends separately, but because it'll be winter out (I live in Boston!) and there are less fun activities to do with that type of weather, he agreed to a co-ed shower
Right now I'm 20 weeks and 1 day - I'm feeling good, and the baby is definitely kicking around a good amount throughout the day. About a week ago, I started to get a little itchy rash on my abdomen and it looks to be a very mild case of PUPPP? Googling photos looks scary and I would say I had less than 6 little bumps on each side, so it's not that bad.... and apparently it will go away when the baby comes!

@photojane: Our friends are planning a co-ed shower for us in November. We had a mini planning session over dinner on Friday to discuss guest list and other fun stuff. I can't wait. It should be fun.
I'm feeling pretty good overall at 20w2d. This weekend we went to Babies R Us to look at baby gear. Then we started our Amazon registry. I feel a little less overwhelmed by the process. We also purchased a glider recliner. It is so comfy and we got such a great deal. How was everyone else's weekend?

Hi ladies! Got some exciting news to share! we had our anatomy scan on friday...and baby lantern is a girl!!!
We saw her cover her eyes and wiggle her fingers during the u/s like she was playing pee-a-boo. It was the cutest thing. She's also measuring normally and the genetic testing came back negative (what a relief!)
Overall a great weekend! How was your weekend?
@ValentineMommy: welcome feb mama!

i won't get to officially find out the gender until october 9th, and though i'm curious i'm not as desperate to know as i was with my first! this pregnancy seems to be going by so much faster too since i'm soo busy keeping up with toddler heels. i can't wait to experience the movements and hiccups in my belly again though - that was a fun time!
apricot / 359 posts
I just noticed based on all of our EDD, we have BBBGGG! Thought that was kinda neat @photojane - can you update my edd to Feb 9 pls?
@Mrs. High Heels: Thanks! Yes it was! I'd hoped for a girl but I thought I was having a boy based on some old wives tales. I would have been happy with either!
kiwi / 711 posts
@Mrs. Lantern: Congrats on the baby girl news! And how cute that she was playing peek a boo.
@Mrs. High Heels: Any preferences this time around?
blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts
@wallaroo - no preference, would be genuinely happy either way!! maybe that's why i'm not as curious to know? i think if my first had been a boy, i definitely would've been yearning for a girl the 2nd time though!

I am a bad poster because I get a bit jealous when I read this thread--I'm due on 2/28 and you girls all seem so far ahead of me with milestones! I haven't felt any movement and we don't find out gender til next Thurs. But I'm still very excited for everybody and look forward to catching up soon! Except by then you'll be even further ahead...

It's officially a boy! Been out of the loop. We had a rough weekend. DH was pretty upset that LO is a boy, he was really hoping for a girl. I think it's partially because he knew I wanted a girl so badly. We also found out there was some excess fluid around LO's heart - so I have to have a second scan tomorrow. Prayers that it goes well - I'm so nervous!
grapefruit / 4669 posts
@ValentineMommy: Aww, I hope he's not really upset about the gender! Do you think it could be more so about the fluid thing and he's just worried? I hope your next scan goes well, that does sound a little scary!
kiwi / 733 posts
@WALLAROO: Agreed! The first time (actually, the only time) that DH and I walked through BBB, we were so overwhelmed. We still haven't bought anything.
@Mrs. Lantern: Enjoy planning for baby girl!
@Mrs. High Heels: I'm glad I'm not the only one who still has a while to go before finding out gender! I still have almost 2 weeks, and while I'll be happy either way, I just want to know!
@tororojo: My due date is ahead of yours, but your scan is still before mine! Somehow mine didn't get scheduled until I'm 21 weeks. Oops.
@ValentineMommy: Enjoy planning for baby boy! I hope all is well with his little heart, and that once you know for sure, you and your DH will be able to get excited about your son-to-be!
pomelo / 5331 posts
@photojane: Team pink, yay! Congrats! I don't know how I missed this! I have no idea if I have a shower in the works, everybody keeps asking me who is planning my shower and I keep referring them to my one friend because she mentioned it once a while ago, but she's pretty busy so I have no idea what's going on! Is it bad that I'm anxious to find out? I'm kind of nervous because of all the holidays coming up, I hope I don't fall through the cracks.
@ValentineMommy: Congrats on the boy! I'm sure that your DH will adjust and be just as happy with a boy than a girl! Good luck with your next scan, I'm sure all will be well.
@JessiBee: How sweet of your friend! New (to you) clothes are so fun to wear!
We had a bit of a scary moment this weekend, well it was really my fault. I have had so much watery discharge over the past week, and it seemed like so much on Saturday, so I told DH we should go to L&D at the hospital to get checked in case it was amniotic fluid leaking! I made his heart drop, I felt so bad that I made him so nervous. I ended up going and they got the heartbeat and monitored me for contractions in triage and then swabbed to make sure it was amniotic fluid. Thank goodness it wasn't, all is well and I'm just extra watery I guess. It was far too early for my comfort to be in L&D and I am just so relieved I don't have to worry about it anymore.
In other news, I learned I have a double placenta. Weird!
kiwi / 520 posts
@photojane: i dont know anything about shower plans but im sure my family is on it. I kind of hope they're able to surprise me unlike my wedding shower. We did finish registering this weekend which was fun. Of course I obsess over it on the computer and changed stuff when I got home. I've been feeling better but still have gaggy moments which sucks but im dealing. Feeling bubs is very reassuring.
@Mrs. Lantern: Congrats on your girl! That's so cute about playing peekaboo.
@ValentineMommy: Yay on another Team Blue Momma! Was wondering when we would hear from you. Hopefully your second ultrasound goes well and hubby feels better!
@JessiBee: awesome about the clothes! Wish someone I knew had clothes to lend out, maternity clothes are expensive!
@Emilie: hope your rash clears up! Just saw another bee post about having this and it doesn't sound like fun.
@ladyfingers: woah, scariness! Glad everything turned out okay and now I have to Google double placenta. Lol
pomelo / 5331 posts
@Phillybaby2013: Yeah there's a lot of stuff about how it could have been from a twin, but the tech said it was connected by blood vessels, so it's not a completely separate placenta. I suppose I could have had a vanishing twin or miscarried the twin early on, evidenced by my first trimester bleeding, but I had my first ultrasound at 5 weeks and there was only one sac -- I didn't think the placenta formed that early. Apparently it can also just be a normal variant, but we're really curious too!
kiwi / 520 posts
@ladyfingers: hmm that's interesting about the twin stuff. I've never heard of a double placenta before. I guess it's one of those life mysteries.
Is anyone else scared about finances and the cost of childcare? And has anyone made a plan of who is going to watch their baby? DH and i have been going back and forth about money and he wants us to sell his 1 year old car for something cheaper. I also just asked a coworker if she would think about switching shifts with me so that my mom could watch the baby but this would involve cutting my hours to 64/pay. I dont think she will do it but daycare is sooo expensive and it scares me that we won't be able to afford it without being really strapped. Tell me I'm not the only one with these fears. : (
cantaloupe / 6164 posts
@JessiBee: that is awesome! my sil gave me a bag of maternity clothes, which was awesome. i'm definitely still in need of some maternity clothes though.
@Emilie: a co-ed shower sounds fun. i'm assuming no traditional shower games then. i love the corny games, but i know most people are not a fan. i hope you don't have PUPPP! if it is PUPPP, i hope it doesn't spread or get worse. not fun!
@WALLAROO: are y'all going to register at BRU? we did our registry right after we had our anatomy scan. it was actually a lot of fun. i love baby stuff. did you get the glider from amazon or bru? which one did you go with? i'm still trying to decide.
@Mrs. Lantern: YAY TEAM PINK!! do you have a name picked out? i'll definitely update your edd & team.
@Mrs. High Heels: are you having any sort of intuition or feelings towards boy or girl?
@tororojo: haha -- i'm glad we're all spread out, so we can get exciting news all month! are you thinking boy or girl?
@ValentineMommy: congrats on team blue! boys are so awesome. i have two baby nephews who are the most awesome kids ever. hope everything went well at your appointment. we're thinking about you. definitely update us!
@ladyfingers: glad you and derek are healthy! that sounds scary. now you can concentrate on important things like your baby shower.
@Phillybaby2013: i did the exact same with my registry. i think i've messed with it like every day since we registered. i think i'm finally happy with it! as far as childcare goes, we're lucky. i only work a few hours twice a week, and my mil will be watching sadie during those times since she's retired, and then my mom will pitch in during the summer since she's a teacher. if my husband gets promoted, i'll just stay at home. i'm really hoping that happens!
as far as what's up for me... sadie girl is doing well. i felt a few definite kicks on saturday, but nothing since. she flutters around when i lay down, but no more kicks so far. the u/s tech dated me at 2/14 (instead of 2/11) since sadie is petite, but they won't change my official edd since it's so close. i'm hoping she's a valentines baby though! my shower is going to be on november 17th and it's children's book themed... i'm super excited!

@valentinemommy: welcome! and good luck tomorrow!
@photojane, @mrs. lantern: congrats on the girls!
No shower planned for us, as we're having a second boy within less than two years! To be totally honest, I would be really happy if we had a sprinkle or some other acknowledgment of this little guy but I'm not holding my breath.
@tororojo: I feel the same way! Just started to feel first little flutters this week, but I know it's a few more weeks before we feel real movement.
@Phillybaby2013: Not exactly the same thing, but we're thinking about how I'm going to manage two on my own, since we have no family here to help us and DH is scheduled to be in a surgery rotation...might have to either send LO1 to part time daycare, or get a part time nanny/housekeeper to help me out for the first couple of months.

@ValentineMommy: Congrats! A valentines baby would be lovely!
@photojane: Congrats on the team pink! Sadie Rose is a gorgeous name It is crazy that half way is among us, seems to have gone very quickly - for me it has at least! My sister has told me she's planning a shower for January but that's all I'll be getting out of her until the day comes.
@Phillybaby2013: So cool your babe kicked backed when you pushed - I've tried but hasn't worked as yet.
@JessiBee: That is so nice, what a great gift!
@WALLAROO: We also just picked out a glider, I cannot get over how comfortable they are! I think I'll be putting myself to sleep in it. I agree, I'm feeling much less overwhelmed about things since buying/registering for some of the essentials.
@Mrs. Lantern: Congrats on baby Lantern being a girl! My husband is convinced we're having a girl, I think it's just because he wants one so badly.
@ValentineMommy: Positive thoughts and prayers with you, I am sure everything will be alright!
@ladyfingers: I am glad all is ok - I too will be going to Google a double placenta, hadn't heard of it until now.
@Phillybaby2013: I am worried about finances, we will be going down to one income without any mat leave pay for me as I'm self employed. Finding that slightly terrifying! So I guess we will be playing it by ear on how long I actually end up taking off.
@Baby Boy Mom: That would be stressful, I hope you find a good solution to help you out! A couple of my friends have started nanny sharing and are really happy with it, would that be something available for you?
I'm feeling very excited this week as I FINALLY feel like I have a bit of a baby bump, I will share my first pic soon. I felt like I was waiting forever lol! The thing I have been the most surprised about it is how much my stomach muscles hurt, I'm not sure how I figured it wouldn't be uncomfortable?! Oh and the itchy skin! Is anyone else experiencing that? I oil up twice daily with bio oil and it definitely helps but it about drives me mad sometimes!
kiwi / 733 posts
@lolabee: I was itchier a few weeks ago than now, but hopefully lots of lotion will help!
No shower for me, at least until the baby can attend, too! Jewish tradition is extra-superstitious about baby things, and there are a lot of people who won't even have baby things in the house until the baby is born. We'll have the nursery at least somewhat finished for our own sanity (and, eventually, set up a registry, since we've already been asked), but no shower. I am not a fan of shower games, so I'm okay with that, and my family and many of my closest friends don't live nearby, so that also kind of helps in a strange way.
I'll be going back to work after my maternity leave, and we'll be doing daycare too. It is definitely expensive, and I can't believe that there are also places that have wait lists...beyond the end of my maternity leave! That means there are people who put themselves on the list before they're actually pregnant...yikes!
pomelo / 5331 posts
@Phillybaby2013: You're not the only one! Even though we have done our budget and I know we'll be fine, we are quite comfortable right now with a healthy surplus after bills and other obligations are paid. Our daycare options right now are going to run us anywhere from $600/month to $900/month -- not as bad as some areas, but enough to make me nervous! But we don't really have an option. Neither of our paychecks would be rendered obsolete by daycare, so it's full-time work and daycare for us.

Man, I'm on the edge of my seat with this shower thing! I wish I at least knew if anybody is planning it and when it will be. I suck at playing things cool.
apricot / 359 posts
@JessiBee: That's really interesting that Jewish tradition is extra superstitious about baby things around the house...it's the same in Chinese tradition too. I've never heard of this from my own parents since they're not very traditional, but I hear from others where their parents gave them heck for even clearing the work office to prep for baby's arrival!
@lolabee: My stomach muscles are hurting this week and if it's bad enough I might skip prenatal fitness tomorrow. I don't know how the 3rd tri women in my class move so effortlessly every class!
@Baby Boy Mom: I hope there will be SOME acknowledgement from them at least! I always feel bad that the second baby doesn't get as much attention as the first.
@photojane: Thanks! No set names yet...but we like the name Avery Like Sadie, she's measuring small too (5 days behind). I can't help but wonder if there's anything I can do (diet wise?) to change this.
@tororojo: I'm excited about your gender reveal next week! Any hunches? It's a nice treat we get gender updates every week
@ValentineMommy: I'm keeping all my fingers and toes crossed for you! I can imagine how nerve wracking this situation is. Hope your second scan goes well today.
pomelo / 5331 posts
@lolabee: My stomach muscles hurt a lot near the end of the first tri/beginning of the second tri. I do have a lot of itching, and all over sometimes! I'm a super itchy person though. Also my pelvic bone has been hurting, specifically where my left butt cheek is! Oh man it hurts sooo bad.
In other words, I totally gave in and had McDonald's for lunch, and baby is loving it, bopping around from all the fat, sugar, and calories lol.
blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts
@jessibee - the waitlists around my area are crazy too! when i was pregnant with my first, i inquired about preschools when she was 6-months old thinking that was pretty early, but they ALREADY had a 3 year waitlist. so i put my 2nd on a preschool waitlist as soon as I found out I was pregnant (at 6 weeks!!).
@ladyfingers - wow, i wish we had preschool/daycare prices like that in our area!! but either way, the idea of putting a chunk of change for daycare really is stressful.

@JerricaBenton: glad ur a/s went well and congrats on ur baby girl!!! I agree that this is going crazy fast and it will be Christmas before we know it. Thinking that I'm now on the other side of halfway is maddening-it almost feels like a little countdown clock has started instead of that build up to getting to this point. It also is crazy that I just saw a JUNE baby board pop up! Feels like we just started this one!
