@ladyfingers: Thank you! It was so fun to see the baby again but the scan was so nerve-wracking for me! I didn't even realize how nervous I was until we left - I seriously almost threw up! We had had that coxsackie exposure so the dr was concerned there could be a heart issue but all looked good!

@photojane: thanks for updating the list!
@JerricaBenton: yay baby girl!!
June mamas? Wow. Time is flying by. Next thing you know...it's halloween, then christmas, then 2013...then baby is here!
Are you ladies doing any last minute kid-free activities before February? We're definitely going to try to catch a few more movies, go out for some fancy eats, and travel (can't wait for our babymoon in a few days!)

@Mrs. Lantern: were trying to plan a little baby moon in October. We might go to Vermont or maybe Salem to enjoy the fall activities since neither of us have been to New England. And we just put in for a day off in Dec. to do something for our first anniversary.
kiwi / 711 posts
@photojane: We actually went with more of a recliner that glides not a nursery glider because those just weren't wide enough for tandem nursing of twins. Thanks for the updated list. So exciting!
@Mrs. Lantern: We are trying to go to as many movies, concerts, sporting events, and dinners out as we can. We have our babymoon coming up next month. We are going to Whistler. I know it is the shoulder season but I'm looking forward to just walking around the village and relaxing.
@JerricaBenton: Congrats on the baby girl! PS. I love your avatar. I was a big Jem and the Holograms fan growing up
@Phillybaby2013: We are actually looking into going the Au Pair route. It is a lot more affordable that 2 infants in daycare and a nanny. We are currently renting and were planning to move to a bigger place so we just have to make sure the new rental will have a room for the Au Pair.
Our friends just sent a Save the Date evite for our co-ed shower on November 17 yesterday with formal invitations to go out next month. I'm so excited! Still trying to get in 2 mile walks after work with the dogs and CrossFit twice a week. I love the fall weather we are having but I do NOT like that it is getting dark out so early.

@Mrs. Lantern: Thank you!
@WALLAROO: Thanks! Jem's the best, right??
We're going on our babymoon to California in a few weeks! So excited! We're mainly just gonna relax and eat great food and maybe do a little shopping. I'm especially excited for my husband because he needs a break!
As far as a shower, I think my best friend is going to throw me one. She gave me an amazing bridal shower so I'm sure it'll be great! I have no idea when though - we Feb ladies are in a tough spot with the holidays during our third trimesters! I would guess early December might be a good time?

@Lolabee: I don't think nanny shares really exist in Mexico. The thing is that most middle class folks here can afford a full time nanny because relatively it's not that expensive. We're just in a unique situation because DH is in med school so our budget is limited and we have to consider our options more carefully.
@Jessibee: With Baby Boy 1 we weren't going to buy much ahead of time either, but then because we had to bring stuff down to Mexico we did have to get some essentials (or else pay 3x as much to get it locally). The good part though was after BB1's bris we had a present opening session that was pretty fun!
@Mrs. Latern: Well at least he'll get a party after he's born, so there's that.
@JerricaBenton: Congrats on the girl!
@photojane: Thanks for keeping our list updated!

@photojane: Thanks for keeping our list updated!
@Baby Boy Mom: Oh that makes sense! Are you in Mexico for DH's med school?
We aren't doing a babymoon per say, but a family trip. One week with my family and the other week with DH's, it will be nice! I would also like to sneak in a quiet, relaxing weekend with DH before baby comes along.
1st and only ultrasound is coming up on Monday, can you say excited?!!

We have our follow up a/s on Thursday. Can't wait to see baby boy again! I'm excited to see what a difference a few weeks makes at this stage of development. Let's hope he's more cooperative this time!

@tororojo: Yay! I feel him kicking every day now, it's so exciting that he's getting so big and strong!
@lolabee: how'd the ultrasound go?
And how's everybody feeling?

I am feeling hungry ALL THE TIME. The only thing I can eat that will keep me full for more than a couple of hours would be a giant fast food meal, which I'm trying not to have too much of. Anybody else sick of eating, but still hungry?
pomegranate / 3872 posts
I'm definitely hungrier midday. My lunches have been huge!
I've started to feel some kicks from the outside with my hands on my belly! It's always when my husband is across the room or something and he hasn't been able to feel it yet. Hopefully soon though.
My only real complaint is back pain, but I'm getting a prenatal massage this week so hopefully I'll get some relief.
Oh yeah - anyone's baby breech at their A/S? Ours is - which makes sense cuz I keep getting kicked in the bladder!
pomelo / 5331 posts
I'm hungry all the time! In fact, I'm going to go get some cheese and crackers.
I wish I could feel him from the outside already! Hopefully soon, should be at least judging from the "milestone" emails I get
I have been having wicked back pain! Particularly at work. And sitting for too long makes my butt hurt. I went to a wedding Sunday night and had to stand up near the end of the night because I couldn't stand sitting anymore!
Also experiencing the wonders of water retention. I sat last night on my couch with my left leg tucked under me and when I pulled it out, my left foot was so swollen! Whoops...
At our surprise 21-week ultrasound (when I went to the hospital) I actually found out that little boy is head down currently, but the tech told me not to get excited because he would move about a million times between now and term lol.

@tororojo: @Phillybaby2013: @ladyfingers: The ultrasound was AMAZING!! It was so wonderful to see the lil one moving around in there. We luckily ran into one of my DH's friends who is one of the head radiologists and he went through all of our pics with us and burnt us a copy of the pics and video, so awesome! I was bang on with my dates according to ultrasound too so sticking with February 19th due date.
I'm with everyone on the insatiable hunger! It's sad how often I am thinking about my next snack or meal. I just finished a mini cinnamon raisin bagel with PB, delish!
Lower back pain has become more noticeable, I am telling myself my prenatal massage appointment will fix everything on Thursday!
Here is a pic of "emby" I like to think he/she has a fat tummy!
kiwi / 520 posts
@tororojo: definitely more hungry now... I often think that if there was a Wendys on my way home from work I would stop everyday for some nuggets. Yum. After work is usually when I'm starving.
@JerricaBenton: I've felt a couple good ones on the outside but DH thinks im lying bc i always grab his hand and then nothing happens. Lol. Last night I layed on the couch with my shirt up and saw a couple jumps on my skin which was super cool. I couldn't stop staring!.. Our baby was breech during our first a/s - partly why I'm getting another tomorrow. Hopefully he moved.
@ladyfingers: i cleaned my spare room this weekend and my back hurt sooo bad Sunday night I could barely stand up. My ankles are also ridic by the end of the day after work. I already drink a ton of water and am thinking about buying some support socks bc the ones I already have are too hard to get on. And I can only wear Crocs to work bc i can't get my other shoes on my left foot lol.
@lolabee: glad ur u/s went great! I love the pic and super cool that u got a disc and got to talk to the radiologist.
Has anyone thought about getting an elective 3d u/s later? I think I may do it. Not sure yet tho. I also think I might hire my cousin who's an amazing photog to do maternity pics. I plan on doing a scrapbook/baby book eventually and would love to have them for it. I've also been working on some crochet baby items. I've finished a hat so far and have booties and a blanket in the works.

News over here! For a variety of reasons that had nothing to do with the baby, I moved my ultrasound up a bit. So, now we know...TEAM PINK!! I'm so, so excited (not that I wouldn't have been for a boy), and what everyone has said has been true so far for us: knowing the gender (and perhaps also seeing all the little parts of her (HER!) body on the screen) make it so much more real, so quickly. WOW.
I also learned that I have an anterior placenta, so I'm looking into what that means (without Dr. Google, who is a scary, scary beast) and a little bummed that I'll have to keep waiting to feel more movement. At least there's good reason I haven't felt much! She seems to be having dance parties more consistently when I lie down to go to sleep though the last few days, which so far I'm choosing to enjoy.
A baby girl!!! So much fun. We decided to tell immediate family (parents, siblings) and keep the gender a surprise/secret from everyone else. DH said he didn't mind if I shared here, too, though
grapefruit / 4669 posts
@JessiBee: WOO HOO! We find out tomorrow and I reeeally want a girl! But I will still be very happy with a boy. We just want a healthy baby! I have heard than anterior placenta makes it harder to feel kicks, but I'm not aware of any health risks caused by it. Unless it's also low near the cervix, but I think your doctor would have mentioned that.

@tororojo: I feel like all I do is eat and I'm always hungry.
@ladyfingers: Sorry about the back pain. That does not sound fun!
@lolabee: Congrats on the good scan. Love the ultrasound
@JerricaBenton: I've started feeling them on the outside as well. They are nice solid thumps but not really that regular yet on the outside.
@Phillybaby2013: I don't think we will do the elective 3D ultrasound but I hope you share yours if you guys get one.
@JessiBee: Congratulations on the baby girl. I totally agree with you. Once we found out the genders of our babies it just felt so real and then made me think of the little people in my belly :). It's a bummer to find out you have an anterior placenta but at least now you know why you haven't felt movement yet.
@tororojo: Yay for your scan tomorrow! Let us know how it goes.
We went to our first class in our Expecting Multiples Childbirth series last night. The topic was "Preventing Preterm Birth". It was very informative and helped me understand what symptoms I need to look out for, what's normal and what isn't, and what constitutes preterm labor.
I am also getting close to finalizing our Amazon registry and making it public. How is everyone doing with their registries?
pomelo / 5331 posts
@lolabee: Yay! So exciting
@Phillybaby2013: I'm not sure yet about a 3d ultrasound. We don't have any plans right now but I could always change my mind!
@JessiBee: Yay, congrats!
@WALLAROO: sounds like an interesting class! Our registries are all done and public, but I haven't heard anything about a shower yet.
kiwi / 733 posts
Huh. I guess we should start a registry. We'll get there...I refuse to be concerned, yet.
I asked my doctor today about the anterior placenta, and she said it's no big deal, and it may not even effect feeling movement. She said how high is more important than which side, and mine is good there, and that anterior are about 50/50, so it shouldn't change much. I'm choosing to listen to her!
Otherwise, just eating and eating! I was surprised to see I'm only up about 2.5 pounds from 4 weeks ago, but she keeps telling me I'm right on track, so no complaints!

looks like everyone's a bunch of hungry, hungry hippos these days!! i'm definitely one. i can't eat as much at each sitting, but i'm so much more hungry throughout the day. i eat a bunch of small meals and snacks.
my food aversions have kicked in big time, too. nothing at all sounded appetizing on saturday. i couldn't eat even though i was starving. i went grocery shopping at walmart, and nearly passed out from lack of sleep and food. i had to sit with my head down. it was so scary! i'll definitely be forcing myself to eat from now on.

@Phillybaby2013: We have chatted about an elective 3D ultrasound where we can bring in family members, haven't decided for sure but I've heard great things about the place in my city! Good on you for crocheting, something I wish I would have paid interest in when my Grandma was able.
@JessiBee: Congratulations on team pink!

@WALLAROO: Thank you! Sounds like a great class - I wished so hard for twins but I guess I didn't wish hard enough! haha We just registered for a 6 week HypnoBirthing class, looking forward to it. Hmmm, registry...I have put one item on there, I guess I should get on that. I have been procrastinating, initially we weren't quite sure if we were going to register.
@photojane: Thank you for keeping us updated! I can't believe I will end up being the only team green member!

So my friend emailed me today to find out when I want to have my baby shower, and to talk about the guest list and possible venues! Yay, I'm so excited! I proposed early December given all the holidays, and figured that I'll be over 30 weeks so it should still be a good time.

@ladyfingers: Yay! Now you don't have to worry about who is planning the shower

@ladyfingers: Wooo! Exciting! I love baby showers.
Just got back from A/S #2 and the tech got lots of great pics of baby's spine which was arched the entire time. Apparently tho this doesn't make for good 4 chamber heart pictures...sooo looks like we're in for another go round probably in a few weeks. I was slightly disappointed and she did try very hard but baby was not having it. I am happy ill get to see him again tho. It was super cool tho to see him jerk and feel him at the same time. And we saw him chomping away again which was funny.
I still feel like we didn't get good take home pics...tonight's printed very dark. Oh well. I got one half good profile shot...

@Phillybaby2013: What a bummer! I'm sorry you have to keep going in for this But it does sound neat to see and feel him move!
So I have a question for you ladies, do you think 28ish weeks is too early for a baby shower? Two of my best friends are in having a lot of December scheduling conflicts, so that month is hard what with that and the holidays. So they suggested the first weekend of January, but I'll be 36 weeks and I'm kind of worried I won't be up for it or the stuff that comes after (washing clothes, thank you notes, setting stuff up etc.). That weekend is also DH's 35th birthday!
So I suggested November as a possibility. I'll be 28 weeks on Nov. 11. Is that just weird? If you were invited to a baby shower like that would you be like wtf lady, why are you having such an early shower? I don't want to be an ingrate or a pregzilla, and I definitely want to do what works best for everybody involved, but I'm so worried I'll stress out as we get closer and closer about being miserable, going into labor early, etc.
Of course I also said, if that puts them on too much of a planning time crunch, then I want to be sensitive to that also.
kiwi / 711 posts
@Phillybaby2013: What a pain that you have to keep going back to get a good shot of the four chambers of the heart but at least it's another opportunity to see the baby.
@ladyfingers: I am having my shower at 28 weeks as well but that's because our babies will come earlier. I think with the holidays coming up, as long as your friends can manage to pull it together by then I don't think it is weird to have it at 28 weeks.

Alright people, I'm officially on team PINK, YAY!!!!!
My doctor's appt didn't go exactly as planned, since a couple of hrs before I developed excruciating back pain, which turned out to be a kidney stone and led to an overnight hospital stay, with a whole lot of drugs being pumped into me that did very little to help. On the up side, we got to hear the baby with a doppler 3 extra times, and I got a bonus ultrasound (that's how they look for stones if you're pregnant). I can't imagine anything hurting worse than that pain, so I'm kind of interested to compare labor with it.
pomelo / 5331 posts
@tororojo: Congrats! I'm so sorry about your kidney stone, I had one of those and it's just awful! Hope you feel better soon.
kiwi / 733 posts
@tororojo: Ugh, the kidney stones sound awful. But on the upside, welcome to team pink!!
cantaloupe / 6164 posts
@ladyfingers: great news on the baby shower front! my shower is already planned for november 17th. we've told lots of people the date, and no one seems to think it's weird. i was thinking the same as you -- december is too busy and january would be pushing it for me. we threw my sister in law's shower yesterday and she is currently 28 weeks. no one thought it was weird, and everyone was so excited to be there.
@Phillybaby2013: i'm sure it's a little annoying to not get what you need, BUT you get to see baby boy over and over, which is so awesome! we have A/S part two next week, and i'm kind of hoping she doesn't cooperate, so we can see her again. i'm sad this will be the last time we'll see her until february!
@tororojo: ALRIGHT, TEAM PINK! as far as the kidney stones, i can totally relate. i've had 6 different kidney stones since junior year of high school. the pain is unimaginable... like out of your body, can't function pain. i've been told by multiple doctors that the pain is actually worse than childbirth, so i guess that's an upside for us -- we already know what to expect & can totally do it!
kiwi / 520 posts
@tororojo: Congrats on being Team Pink! Sorry about your kidney stone tho! Sounds terrible. Hope ur feeling better!
Has anyone been having boob pain? For a couple days off and on I've been getting a hot stabbing pain in my right boob. Almost like if you've ever had a wire pop out of your bra and poke you all day? It's no good. How's everyone else been feeling?
