February 2013 Due Dates

Hmm. So far I've avoided sharp, stabbing boob pain...let's hope it stays that way! I keep saying I feel very lucky to still feel good so far, just too tired!

I'm finally working on registry. Does anyone know whether BBB will let you hide a registry (or keep it non-public) for a while? I can't find a way to do that, and I'm not ready for other people to be able to find it yet!

@photojane - thanks for updating the list! i think i'm one of the last ones on here to find out since my due date is at the end of feb!

@tororojo - congrats on team pink!!

I'm finding out the gender FIRST thing tomorrow morning - I can't wait!! My husband took some time off to come with me. We're both excited!

@tororojo: Congrats on being Team Pink! That stinks about the kidney stones though. I've never had them but they sound so painful! I'll be interested to see how you ladies who've had them compare childbirth!

Thanks, girls! The kidneys are pretty good now. FYI, Zofran by IV stops you up even more than the pills do--keep that in mind when you're in labor!

@Mrs. High Heels: How exciting, can't wait to see what team you're on!

  5. ladyfingers

    pomelo / 5331 posts

@Phillybaby2013: Yes! I have totally had that, just for a second but it sucks!

I have also been getting these sharp twinges in my lower abdomen, almost all the way down by the cervix. Nerve pain from the baby's pressure, maybe? I'm going to ask the doctor about it on Wednesday.

  6. Emilie

    cherry / 144 posts

yay! congrats on everyone's gender reveals Soooo super exciting!!

@ladyfingers - I think 28 weeks is perfectly fine for a baby shower! I'm having mine at the beginning of December at 31 weeks, which is really not that much after yours. I'm sure more people will be able to make to yours if it's not right around the holidays anyways

@Phillybaby2013 - no boob pain here, but I have been getting some cramps on my right side every now and then when I'm walking. It's enough pain where I need to pause for a second and then I can start walking slowly again.

Today I'm 22 weeks and 1 day, and just got back from a 5 day trip to California for a wedding... and have been totally suffering through a terrible cough for the last week. I knew I was just about to get sick last week and typically I take an airborne and it usually does the trick, but of course I couldn't take it this time around because of the baby =( I've been holding out on taking cough medicine all week, but this morning I just couldn't stop coughing so I finally resorted to taking Robitussin DM which OK'd by my doc. It seems to really be helping!!

@Emilie: I get that cramp like feeling on my right side sometimes when I walk too. It is kind of annoying!

I made our registry public last week and we already received something last night! My stepsister can't make it to our shower because she is out of state so she decided to shower these babies early and check some things off our registry. When I went to make a change to our registry yesterday I noticed that my in-laws already bought our car seats too. DH and I didn't register for our wedding so this is a new and fun experience for us. We are so thankful already.

I forgot to add that I have a little bit of a cold. I really don't like sneezing when pregnant. I feel like I have to brace myself and my belly. Anybody else feel that?

@WALLAROO: this happens to me all the time. I try to hold my stomach or bend over before I sneeze. It hurts! I think I'm sick again btw. Thought it was allergies picking it up but I'm afraid that I'm not so lucky.

@Mrs. High Heels: welcome to Team Blue!!

Happy Friday February Mamas! Just wanted to bump our thread up.

What are your two ups and two downs of pregnancy this week?

    Ups:
    1. Hubby can feel the kicks from the outside now. He likes to put his hands on my belly before we go to sleep to see if he can feel the babies. It is such a sweet moment.
    2. I received a compliment from a stranger saying that I had a cute bump. It made my day

    Downs:
    1. Starting to feel a little back pain at the end of the day from sitting in my chair all day. I think I have to request a new chair.
    2. I have a little cold and sneezing sucks!

  19. tororojo

    grapefruit / 4669 posts

    Ups:
-A girl I just met knew I was pregnant right away! I still fear that I just look chunky.
-Bra extenders. Holy crap it's like I've been introduced to breathing all over again.

    Downs:
-Kidney stone...it's gone now but there were several painful days there!
-My butt hurts from sitting! And I've only gained about 10 lbs...what will it feel like in 4 months? Yikes!

  20. JessiBee

    kiwi / 733 posts

    Love it!
    Ups:
    - I can usually feel her at night, right when I'm settling down for bed. Since it's new, this is an up.
    - I'm having fun dressing up every day! Since it's a whole new wardrobe (mostly borrowed from friends), it makes every morning an adventure, in a fun way.

    Downs:
    - my DH hasn't been able to feel her move yet, but I hope we're almost there!
    - I'm kind of sick of all the body attention I get, especially at work. People who normally wouldn't ever comment on my body tell me I look great/adorable/look too much. I like compliments as much as the next girl, but not physical ones at work.

  21. ladyfingers

    pomelo / 5331 posts

    Great idea!

    Ups:
    1. Feeling kicks even harder, being able to feel them from the outside, even seeing my belly move a bit and DH felt him earlier this week!
    2. We have a date for the baby shower!

    Downs:
    1. Unbelieveably bad, awful, horrible back pain all day long while sitting at work, and at night when trying to sleep/get comfortable in bed. And sciatica. So miserable. 16.5 more weeks?
    2. Starting to feel really huge and only being 23.5 weeks!

  22. JerricaBenton

    pomegranate / 3872 posts

    Ups:
    1: Feeling great!
    2. Maternity Clothes are so comfy
    3. Going on Vacation next week
    4. Got a ton of incredibly cute baby clothes at a sidewalk sale at a very fancy baby boutique.

    Downs:
    1. Swollen Feet/Ankles some days
    2. Have to wear compression tights on the plane and I'm afraid I'm going to be sweating like a pig.

  23. Phillybaby2013

    kiwi / 520 posts

    TGIF!

    Ups:
    1. Having patients comment on my pregnancy instead of staring at my stomach unsure of what to make of it.
    2. Feeling harder kicks and watching my stomach move!
    3. Finally getting my appetite back. I'm starving all the time.

    Downs:
    1. DH not being able to feel baby yet. He gets frustrated if he doesn't feel anything after a few seconds of me telling him to put his hand on my stomach. : (
    2. Accidentally wearing pants that were too tight today. I need some maternity scrubs stat. Poor baby was smushed all day.
    3. Swollen feet and ankles... I'm running out of shoes now that it's getting chilly. You can only wear flip flops for so long!

  24. photojane

    cantaloupe / 6164 posts

    ups:
    1. more baby movement! she's just now getting more active. she's a graceful little thing though -- mostly just swishes and sways, she's only kicked twice!
    2. booked our babymoon!! i've even started planning what we'll be doing while we're there.
    3. we've officially begun building her wardrobe & it is so, so much fun to shop for her! i don't even care to shop for myself anymore.

    downs:
    1. i only have one down, but it's a BIGGIE. i can't sleep. i can't get comfortable in any position anymore, and i pee literally once an hour. i'm constantly exhausted now. i can't wait to go to bed at night, and then i'm miserable once i get there! ugh.

  25. ladyfingers

    pomelo / 5331 posts

@photojane: So cute! Ours is definitely not graceful, lots of thumps and bumps. I'm picturing him all elbow and knees and fist and feet just flailing around lol!

  26. photojane

@ladyfingers: haha... he's already such a boy! i'm kind of hoping she gets more aggressive... i want to feel her more!

  27. ladyfingers

    pomelo / 5331 posts

@photojane: oh yes for sure. I feel a kick up on the left then a punch down on the right and I'm like, geez, kid! We're going to have to enroll him in karate!

anyone's milk coming in at all? i just noticed i was leaking colostrum for the first time tonight. the boob pain is unreal though. it's super weird & exciting to see my body getting ready for sadie girl.

  29. lolabee

    kiwi / 662 posts

@WALLAROO: I hear you on the sneezing! Here I thought this was a postpartum symptom, guess not! Great idea with the ups and downs.
@tororojo: Crazy I am the only team green! I am really feeling girl these days, maybe I'll make February a tie

    Ups:
-DH being able to feel the babe easily and watching my tummy move!
    -feeling cute rather than chubby
-DH surprising me this past weekend with an early 1st anniversary trip!!! What a guy!

    Downs:
-sciatica pain, I threw my back out quite badly right before I got pregnant and am paying for it now

@photojane: no colostrum as yet, but my nipples are killer sore these days. They feel chapped almost?

  30. WALLAROO

    kiwi / 711 posts

@photojane: No colostrum for me yet. Is it a large amount that you are notice or just a few leaks here and there?

Last week I definitely felt hiccups. I'm not sure, but I think it was baby boy. It was definitely too rhythmic to be just kicks. I have started going to the doctor every two weeks now. At these appointments she will check my cervix so we can start monitoring cervix length. I will also have monthly formal ultrasounds as well. So we pretty much get to see the babies every two weeks which is fun. This last time baby girl was head down and lower. Baby boy was above her and transverse with his head on my left side and legs out to the right. Knowing their positions helps me decipher which one I am feeling.

DH and I leave for our Babymoon this Friday and I can't wait. I'm just looking forward to spending some time together with him and our dogs and just relaxing.

How is everyone feeling this week?

  31. tororojo

    grapefruit / 4669 posts

@photojane: I haven't noticed colostrum leaking, but I have been finding it dried up in my nipples for awhile, which I know sounds absolutely disgusting.

@WALLAROO: Monthly ultrasounds are exciting! I really wanted boy and girl twins, I'm excited for you guys.

I have noticed that being on my feet for a long time is no longer as easy as it used to be! My ankles feel a little swollen after I've walked around a lot and sometimes it feels like my uterus is weighing me down. I can't imagine how these things will feel 4 months from now!

  32. ladyfingers

    pomelo / 5331 posts

@photojane: Wow, that's awesome! I haven't found any leakage but like @tororojo I've found some crustiness that I wonder about. My nipples have been incredibly sensitive for some time now, though -- I have to cover them up with my hands in the shower so the stream doesn't hit them!

I'm feeling sore and off balance this week. Crazy that he's like a pound and a half and I'm not even that big in the grand scheme of things, but am already having such a hard time! I'm in for a treat

  33. Phillybaby2013

    kiwi / 520 posts

@photojane: i haven't noticed any leakage per say but I've seen stuff in there like others have said. I have had pain tho so maybe it's a matter of time.

@WALLAROO: Cool about the hiccups and knowing their positions. I can only imagine what it must feel like having two I'm there!

@tororojo, @ladyfingers: I've also been feeling swollen and weighed down and off kilter recently. I notice a difference in moving around at work and getting out of bed in the morning. I really can't see what it's gonna be like when we are actually big big. I look at people's pics when they're like 35+ and it's unreal.

  34. lolabee

    kiwi / 662 posts

@WALLAROO: I love that you're having boy/girl twins! A smidge of jealousy here, I've wanted twins my entire life. Do twins run in your family? Where are you headed for your baby moon?

I am feeling great minus sciatica pain, which I expected to occur. Other than some digestive issues I don't feel I have anything to complain about!
I was thinking the other day...if I do go to 42 weeks I still have 20 weeks left, how large and in charge will my bump be by then?!

@Phillybaby2013: In regards to your swollen feet, I'm not sure if Toms are your thing but I bought a pair of these...http://www.toms.ca/womens/wedges/chestnut-suede-women-s-desert-wedges I have some extra room in them width and length wise and they seem to be the right height as my back feels better wearing them. Super versatile too!

  35. Emilie

    cherry / 144 posts

    Ups
    1) Everyone definitely notices the bump now, and it no longer looks like I ate 30 donuts
    2) I love feeling my baby girl's kicks, and they are getting stronger and stronger!
    3) Just booked the BABYMOON!! and it's just in a couple of weeks: Japan for 5 days and Korea for 3 days. It's too bad I'll be missing out on the sushi, but other than that, it should be a lot of fun!

    Downs
    1) Back pain!! By the end of the day, my lower right hand side of my back is always very sore.
    2) I'm finally needing to slow down at the gym because I really can't do everything that I used to anymore.. I'm definitely waddling too =P hahaha

  36. photojane

    cantaloupe / 6164 posts

i can't wait for the baby hiccups!!

i was leaking a considerable amount. not enough to soak a bra or shirt, but it was coming out steadily. i was leaking again this morning, but nothing yet today. i'm kind of hoping it calms down because if i'm already leaking, i'll be in pads in no time! but, i think that the dried stuff y'all have been finding is also colostrum. so neat how our bodies work!

i'm also feeling pretty large & not so in charge. i'm already awkward and have kinks and pains. how do people make it to 40+ weeks?!

  37. Mrs. Lantern

    apricot / 359 posts

Hi ladies! Just got back from our babymoon! It's been 2 weeks since I've visited the boards but I'm all caught up now Hope you're all doing well! We had a great time in Paris and Barcelona. Had to pee every hour and sit every now and then, but so glad we did one last trip before baby's arrival.

    Ups:
    - Baby lantern's kicks are strong and often! She gave DH a swift kick in the head a few days ago.
    - Went for a pregnancy massage yesterday. It was amazingly relaxing and I wish I'd start going earlier! Going to make a habit of going once a month.
    - Had a happy babymoon

    Downs:
    - Experienced my first charley hourse - yowza is that a sudden sharp spasm. I hope it doesn't make an appearance again anytime soon.
    - Still have a lot of food aversions but it's slooowly going away.

@Emilie: Japan/Korea sounds like an absolute blast. As tight as they were, I found compression socks helpful when flying.

@WALLAROO: Have a great time on Friday! Whistler is so serene (and a great place for dogs too). It's been years since I've visited and would love to go back.

@lolabee: yikes hope your back is feeling better! That's so cool your DH can see your belly move.

@photojane: sucks about the poor sleep...does a body pillow help? I used a wedge one and found that worked well for me.

@JerricaBenton: where are you going on vacation?

@Phillybaby2013: that's so great you're getting your appetite back. Still waiting for mine to come back. I want to have cravings!

@ladyfingers: looks like you got yourself a karate kid

@tororojo: sorry you had to experience the kidney stones! I can imagine how painful they are

@Mrs. High Heels: congrats on being on team blue! I'd love to have one of each. Have you told your little girl yet?

  38. photojane

    cantaloupe / 6164 posts

Y'ALL! i finally felt sadie's movement on the outside! she actually woke me up with a big kick to the arm that was resting on my stomach. i didn't believe it at first and thought maybe i just had a muscle spasm, so i put my hand in the same place and she kicked me 4 more times! they were so strong - it was so exciting! i woke hubs up and made him put his hand there, but she stopped. i'm hoping he'll get to feel it soon. she's been a jumping bean so far today.

@Mrs. Lantern: welcome back! i'm so jealous of your babymoon! was this your first time in europe? i've never been, but i'd love to.

  39. ladyfingers

    pomelo / 5331 posts

@Mrs. Lantern: OMG I've been having those leg cramps in bed at night, they're awful and they're in the middle of the night so I can never tell if I'm having a dream or not lol! No fun at all.

@photojane: I am also worried about getting bigger! I mean, I am probably going to double in size if not more -- the baby himself is only 1.5 pounds right now! My boss chastised me for not stretching or getting a massage or anything haha. She's like, you have a long way to go still! Start stretching! I guess I don't even know what to do.

  40. ladyfingers

    pomelo / 5331 posts

@photojane: YAY! Isn't that awesome? Derek makes my whole stomach jump. DH has only been able to feel him a couple of times, and never when I have him put his hand there during movement. It's just been when he's randomly set his hand on my belly.
