@photojane: we went to italy/greece for our honeymoon, and I was in germany for work before. I can't get enough of travelling! It's highly addictive
Go Sadie go!! The first outside kick is indescribable! I told my boss about the baby kicks, and she said, "wait a few more weeks and you'll feel like you're getting jabbed all day long!"
@ladyfingers: they're totally awful and come without warning! I'm trying to do some stretches before bed. Hope that helps to keep them far away.

@photojane: Feeling baby movements from the outside is so fun!
@Mrs. Lantern: Welcome back! Your babymoon sounded amazing. Glad you and DH were able to get one more trip in before Baby Lantern arrives. We are so excited for Whistler. I've never been.
DH and I finally decided on names for baby girl and baby boy. We had his name picked out for awhile now but just couldn't agree on one for her. It was so exciting to finally find something we both liked yesterday. Now we just have to keep it a secret until they arrive and just tell people we are still deciding.

@photojane: me toooooo! Lying in bed last night, when she's most active, I has my hand on my belly, trying to feel it on the outside to share with DH. When I thought I felt it on the outside I grabbed his hand and put it there and he felt it too. So exciting! I also almost got out of bed to post it on here, but my pillows were all arranged, so I didn't. (And then today has been a crazy work day so this is as soon as I could get on and share.). The thought was there to share last night though!
I hope the baby-growing stays this fun and exciting

@Mrs. Lantern: i love traveling too! i'm DYING to go to ireland. i'd really love to try to go for our 5th anniversary. that's definitely the first place in europe i'd like to see, but i'd also love to see italy and the south of france!
@WALLAROO: c'moooon... tell us the names!!
@JessiBee: aww... yay! that is so exciting! sadie is still being shy with dad, but hopefully he'll get to feel it soon.
kiwi / 711 posts
@JessiBee: Isn't it funny how we build ourselves a little pillow nest/fort and it takes a lot to get us out of it once we are nice and situated?
@photojane: I don't mind sharing with you guys but I'm paranoid that somehow someone in real life would figure out who I am and thus find out the names. Like I said, paranoid
After reading that some of you could actually see your belly move when the baby kicked I realized that I hadn't really looked. So last night when I was laying in bed I just stared at my belly until I felt a kick. That is wild! I can't believe our babies are big enough that we can see the movement now from the outside. So amazing!
But you know what's not so amazing? That my feet were swollen last night. ??!! Isn't it too soon for that to happen? I'm hoping it was just a fluke. Today I'm making sure to drink even more water, I wore my compression sleeves that I usually wear for running under my slacks, and elevating my feet all day. Let's hope that helps.
cantaloupe / 6164 posts
@WALLAROO: haha.. i was only joking! only a few more months until we get to find out anyway. sorry about the swelling! ugh... not looking forward to that. has it come back at all?
i haven't actually seen my belly move, but she's definitely grown a lot recently, because i can feel her SO much more these days. i forgot to update y'all, but wednesday night the hubs actually felt her! his face was so precious and priceless.
i found out at my ultrasound wednesday that baby girl looks like me! she cooperated, and gave us some great shots. fortunately, she's got a strong, healthy heart and beautiful little body. it was so amazing seeing her dance around in there. unfortunately, we found out some not so great news too. apparently i have a velamentous cord insertion, which could or could not complicate my pregnancy -- it's kind of a waiting game. i'm trying so, so hard not to worry and stress about it. your prayers are so appreciated!

@WALLAROO: Mine get swollen! I think it's right around that time. Luckily I work in a super casual office so I wear flip flops 90% of the time and when I do, my feet/ankles don't swell. But when I wear my wedges or -- big mistake -- the one time I wore my heels, swell-town! They were even my comfortable heels. I just can't have anything constricting my feet anymore.

@Mrs. Lantern: We went to California - just got back! Glad you had an awesome trip!
Definitely had a great babymoon but it certainly isn't as easy to get around as it once was. We did a lot of walking and I felt the literal weight of the baby at times. We definitely had to stop and get snacks/water more often but it was still fun and relaxing. My feet swelled a bit on the active days, but were surprisingly good on the plane ride. I wore the compression trouser sock type things and got up 4 -5 times on a 6 hour flight so I guess that helped. I also drank water instead of my beloved bloody mary mix (my usual plane treat!) since it has like, a month's worth of sodium.
My husband has better luck feeling kicks if he rests his head on my belly. She kicks (or knees probably) him hard in the face and he laughs and then she does it again and again
kiwi / 733 posts
@JerricaBenton: I'm going to have to suggest to my DH that he try putting his face on my belly! Usually I'll giggle that the baby is having a dance party (when I settle in to read a little before bed), and he'll put his hand on my belly and feel...nothing. It's like she stops when his hand is there! Tonight, we'll try letting her kick him in the face
Anyone else been feeling much bigger recently? I have definitely had total strangers comment on my pregnancy/ask when I'm due/etc., which is new and fun for me.
pomegranate / 3872 posts
@JessiBee: Try it! He's only felt the baby a handful of times with his hand but the face trick has been working every time!
And I am definitely feeling bigger! Before our trip I kept saying to my husband, 'are you sure it doesn't just look like I have an enormous beer belly?' and he would tell me I was nuts. Literally every person I made eye contact with on the trip asked me about my pregnancy so I guess now I believe they can tell!

@photojane: @ladyfingers: The swelling has gone down. Thank goodness! My feet are back to normal as of right now.
@JerricaBenton: Sounds like a great babymoon! Were you in Northern or Southern California? That is too funny about baby kicking your DH in the face.
@JessiBee: Oh my goodness I feel huge. DH took some pictures this weekend and I can't believe how big I looked. I'm curious to see how big I will get.
24 weeks and 2 days. Yay for viability! We measured my belly for fun and I am 40 inches! Pre pregnancy I was around 27 inches. Crazy!
DH and I went on our Babymoon this past weekend. We went to Whistler which is a 4 hour drive from Seattle. We were surprised with a dusting of snow. It was so pretty with the fall foliage and the snow. The mountain was closed since it is the off season but we had fun just exploring the village and enjoying the sights. We had such a good time and really enjoyed our time together. Here is a photo collage of the sights.
EDIT: Yikes! Sorry the photo is so big!

@WALLAROO: Pretty pictures! I can't imagine being somewhere cold and snowy--it was 90 here yesterday, boooooo. Sounds like you girls have been having some babymoon fun!
Any other travel tips besides water, compression stockings and walking around on the plane? We're headed to New York for a few days and I want to be as prepared as possible. I'm hoping that walking won't totally wear me out--I hate when I've been on my feet all day and I can feel my uterus weighing down on me. Such a weird sensation!

@WALLAROO: babymoon looks awesome! i LOVE snow and cold weather.
@tororojo: new york is an awesome choice! that was my original choice for our babymoon, but i didn't want to go until december, so i could see the trees, windows, etc. hubs and i didn't feel comfortable being so far after 30 weeks, so we decided to stay close. i'm so jealous of your trip though. share some pics with us!
we'll be going to williamsburg, viriginia the week before christmas. they have a TON of awesome christmas stuff going on up there, and busch gardens does a fun christmastown every year. plus, they have awesome shopping. it's only 45 minutes away, so i feel really comfortable going at 32 weeks. we already booked the hotel & sweet car christmas light tour -- i'm SO excited!

@WALLAROO: Gorgeous photos!
It doesn't look like we're going to really get a babymoon. I work most weekends, so we can't so easily just disappear for a few days, and without getting on a plane (which I'm considering myself done with after Thanksgiving), we can't go anywhere warm, and cold-touristy doesn't really do much for me. I guess I should get to work planning some fun, near-home activities.

@JerricaBenton: Cali sounded nice! Glad u had a good time. And funny about baby kicking hubby in the face! I may have to get DH to try that. He did finally feel the baby kick and was like "that was it?" Maybe if he got one in the face he would feel differently.
@WALLAROO: great pics! Can't believe you saw snow!
@tororojo: have a good trip! I think you sound prepared. Take breaks and bring snacks!
@photojane: VA sounds super nice. I love Christmas stuff. I asked DH if we could go to NYC for our 1 year wedding anniversary on Dec. 9th. I was only in NY once in high school and we've always talked about going at Christmas time. He said he'd plan everything! I can't wait.
We went to Hershey, PA over the weekend for a little overnight getaway. It was nice but I was sad that we couldn't go in the park and ride all the rides. We went to Chocolate World and walked around the Hershey gardens. They had a lit pumpkin walk and trick or treating. Than Saturday we went to the outlets for some shopping. I got a couple things at the Motherhood Outlet and we picked out a couple things at Carters. DH was so good in Motherhood. He picked out a bunch of stuff for me. It was really cute.
Tonight is a/s #3. Cross your fingers for a nice 4 chamber heart picture!
A couple people at work today commented that I popped! I'll post
some pics from this weekend later. Here's my weekly at work pic. What do you guys think?
Omg I'm sorry this is so big!

@WALLAROO: Very exciting that you've decided on names, we're finding it really hard to agree on a boys name. Girls name was really easy! Looks like Whistler was a great time, we were just in Banff - no snow there yet but lots of rain. My SIL lives in Seattle, such a great city, love all the fresh seafood and gorgeous bouquets of flowers you can get for so cheap!
@JessiBee: I feel like I've grown a fair bit in the last week, although I'm being told I'm still small. I am enjoying the growth!
@Phillybaby2013: Your bump is adorable!
Both sides of my family are planning a family vacation to FL in December. We'll be there for almost two weeks, one week with each side. Am I nuts for going on a trip being that far along?

@WALLAROO: We were in Southern California - my husband had some work stuff in the Valencia area and then we went to Santa Barbara/Montecito. That's awesome that you got some snow on your trip! Your pics are gorgeous!
@Phillybaby2013: Try it! I think your face is much more sensitive than your hands, especially for a guy! OMG Hershey is so much fun! I was just thinking about our family trips there back in the day Definitely fun to think about doing that with LO one day!

No babymoon for us. We can't afford it money or time-off-from-work-wise Not even a long weekend, probably.

@lolabee: you're so little and cute! you're going to have NO problems getting rid of the baby weight. so jealous.
@ladyfingers: we're just going for two nights (my husbands weekend - monday & tuesday night), and we're staying close by to be safe and save on gas. i did a bid for a hotel on priceline, and it was super cheap. maybe you could just get away to a nice local hotel for a night so you at least have that time with just hubby...?

@WALLAROO: damn girl u look great! Can't believe you have e 2 babies in there!
Has anyone else signed up for childbirth classes? I just did yesterday. I signed up for an Infant Care class, breastfeeding basics and of course the childbirth one. All are at the hospital that I'm delivering at. I also made an appt. for a 3D u/s on Nov. 17th! I'm super excited and our family is going to come and see it too.
I've been having child care anxiety recently. I asked a coworker if she would switch shifts with me so i could go to 64 hours and make it possible that my mom could watch the baby... She said it wouldn't work out for her. Major bummer... Now I have to ask my boss if I could just cut my hours out right which I doubt she will go for. Next option would be a woman recommend from my mom's coworker who has childcare from her home. But she doesn't do Fridays so I'd still have to work that out. Lastly is regular day care which is going to break the bank but will probably e where we end up. I'm just so scared about money. I know we will make it work but it's really stressing me out.
kiwi / 711 posts
@Phillybaby2013: DH and I are currently taking an Expecting Multiples Childbirth class. We are 3 weeks into a 7 week series. The 3D U/S sounds so cool. I can't wait to see your pictures. Childcare is pretty stressful. I hope your situation works itself out!
I have recently been sleeping in my "pillow fort" as DH calls it. I have a mini-snoogle which I put between my knees and then goes up around my butt and back to support it, a pillow for my head, and a pillow that I kind of wedge under the belly for support. It is a funny set up but it helps so much!
Feeling pretty good. The only issue I have is some back pain because of the chair I sit in at my client site. They don't really have any other options so I just make sure to get up every hour to stretch and walk. I also brought my heating pad for the afternoon when it gets too uncomfortable.
How is everyone else feeling?
kiwi / 662 posts
@photojane: Thank you! I'm hoping I've inherited some of my Moms genes in that aspect
@WALLAROO: Oh you look wonderful!! Crazy that you have two in there, your bump is perfect!
@Phillybaby2013: Sounds like it will be a good class. We've signed up for the HypnoBirthing classes which is a 6 week course. Looking forward to it! Make sure to let us know how the 3D u/s goes, DH and I are contemplating doing it as well. I'd like to see him/her more than once in utero! Oh dear, I hear you on the stressing out about money. I'm not sure if I've asked you this before or not, forgive me if I have - is there a possibility of nanny sharing where you live?
I am feeling great minus some sciatica pain, walking daily seems to help and as my massage therapist has explained - tilting your hips forward, or pulling your tailbone down has really helped a lot. If that makes sense?

Just checking in here, at 24 weeks today. I read one of those weekly "how big is the baby" things every Friday morning, and my fruit-of-the-week now is cantaloupe. I read that, and it just seemed...big!!! I mean, it gets bigger every week, but this is the first time I really thought about how big she's getting and all.
Any random/strange/fun moments of feeling real/progress for anyone else?!
pomelo / 5331 posts
@Phillybaby2013: Yep, we signed up for our 8-hour (!) crash course class on Nov. 17!
I've been feeling so much pain lately, I finally went to the chiropractor my boss used when she was pregnant and she said my pelvis joint and lower vertebrae are twisted out -- which explains a LOT! So I've started down that path, hopefully I won't be a chiropractic patient for life now. Today I still have pain but it is SO much better than it was yesterday! It's down to like a 3-4 on the pain scale from a 7-8.
Anybody's babies have days where they just aren't as active? He was so active yesterday, and usually is, but today he's just more chill. He's moved a few times but of course it's worrying me! Even though my doctor already told me not to panic about slow days until 28 weeks.
I can't believe that I'm 26 weeks on Sunday! We have all our nursery furniture now and once we put together the bookcase we can start decorating!
@JessiBee: What, a cantaloupe?! Babycenter has cantaloupe coming at like 34 weeks! That seems so crazy big for 24 weeks -- I guess Babycenter goes by weight or something? But yeah I mean, ever since he's started moving my belly around I'm just like, wow, you are SO BIG KID!

@lolabee: i actually have never heard of nanny sharing around here or at least not that I know of. I did come up with a better plan with a coworker yesterday that sounds alot more reasonable to go to my boss with so I'm not so anxious about it. I still have to make a few phone calls and make sure it will work but I think my chances of working this out are much better... Let me know how the hypnobirthing class is-sounds interesting.
@WALLAROO: I've been having back pain too. Especially if I did too much stuff in the day it kills at night. It feels like my right SI joint in my pelvis is going to separate. I've also been having restless leg cramps in my calves and sore feet. I bought tennis balls to rub my feet on at night when I'm sitting on the couch.
@JessiBee: i had a holy crap this is happening moment when I told DH that I scheduled our child birth class for Jan. 12th. He said don't you think that's a little close? - You could go early...It freaked me out bc that seemed so far away at first but it's really not. I have since rescheduled it for Dec. 8th. Haha.
@ladyfingers: glad you got some relief! Chiropractors scare me but I know some people swear by them. And I definitely have days or times when he's not as active. I wouldn't worry too much. For me it depends on what position he's in too.
Hope everyone has a great weekend! TGIF!

omg I've been gone for so long! I've missed like 6 pages of stuff!
How's everyone doing? How were your weekends? How did all the east coasters make out with the storm? We had no issues in the part of jersey I'm in, thank God.
I can't deal with this incredible heartburn. I think it's killing me! Meanwhile, we've been working feverishly on the nursery! It's all painted, and we're waiting for the crib and changer. The glider is in! It's so exciting to see it coming together - we just have to have an electrician come in to install the ceiling fan, as DH is not a fan of messing with the electricity, lol. We're still adjusting to the idea of having a boy, and I admit, it's hard sometimes when we go shopping and see all the cute girl things. Other than that, it's much better than it was!
Hope everyone is doing well!

@lolabee: I have been trying to be more mindful of how I carry my body when I walk. I keep trying to tuck my tailbone in and keep my shoulders from slouching. I think this helps alleviate the back pain.
@JessiBee: A fun, well kind of, moment is when I can actually feel one of the babies pushing against my back(?) and then you see my bump shift and either their head or butt is now poking out of a certain spot. Does that make sense?
@ladyfingers: The babies are super active some days and a little more chill some days but I definitely still feel some movement on those chill days. How is the nursery coming along? We are moving almost immediately after the twins are born so I can't really get started on a nursery. I will have to live vicariously through you ladies when I have the urge to nest.
@ValentineMommy: Welcome back! Post pictures of your nursery when you get a chance.
Well ladies I'm sad to report that I had to take off my wedding band this morning :(. I already took my engagement ring off two weeks ago so now I feel totally naked. I'm a little bummed about it because I feel like it is so early but I would rather take it off while I still can than have someone cut it off in case of an emergency. I had an u/s on Friday and the babies are each 1 lb 14 oz and looking good! They are both so active. My OB also said it was time to stop crossfit. I had just gone that morning and was thinking the same thing but I was still bummed nonetheless to get the word from the doctor. Lastly, this morning one of the babies woke me up from a nice sleep because they decided to just ram into my side. Haha. They are getting stronger!
How is everyone doing? Happy Halloween!!

Happy Halloween ladies! What are you up to tonight? Hubby and I are having a small gathering with friends and handing out candy to the neighbourhood kids. There's a rainfall warning so I hope we still get some trick or treaters coming by!
@WALLAROO: I love your whistler photos! Makes me want to go there before the busy ski season. Maybe I'll do that in the next few weeks since it's only a 2.5 hr drive away. So happy to hear that your babies are doing great! Active little ones.
@ladyfingers: I've had those days too where baby lantern would just be so still it honestly freaked me out. I remember reading somewhere that we should start counting kicks, but I don't remember which week to start..
@ValentineMommy: what a productive mama you are! Can't wait to see photos.
@Phillybaby2013: I'm doing a birthing program and it's mostly class based! So far I'm really liking it. We meet every 4 weeks, but after the next class, we will be meeting every 2 weeks. Eep, it's starting to get so real!
Any ladies plan to get their glucose testing done?
Here's my halloween costume I made last night! If I had more time, I would've added Prego's slogan "It's in there" LOL

@Mrs. Lantern: That's so cute! Happy Halloween to all!
I have a checkup tomorrow and I assume that's when they'll schedule my glucose test (for the next time) but I'm not sure. My last appointment coincided with my kidney stone adventure so I didn't ask many questions or do much listening.
Took our NYC trip last week and it was so much fun! Escaped just before Sandy hit (by renting a car since flights were cancelled). I freaked myself out on the day where we did an insane amount of walking because I couldn't feel baby kicks (probably because I was never still!) but when I went to bed that night they started up again. I hate pregnancy paranoia!

@ValentineMommy: OMG I know, it's so bad! It's full-on reflux and it feels like it's tearing me apart.
@WALLAROO: Yeah he definitely still moved that day, I think he was having a growth spurt because I'm so much bigger now! We are about halfway done with the nursery, we still have to set up the bookcase and hang some art and order a couple of more decorative things. It's really coming together though, it's fun! Also, I'm right there with you -- wedding ring has been off since yesterday I took it off the night before because it was really tight, and I couldn't get it back on in the morning. So sad!
