@Danizaur: DH is the one who really doesnt want to find out. We decided to go that route bc it sounds fun to be surprised. I am also hoping that it will motivate me to push! Ive read a bunch of stories right after the baby is born that the parents forget to check the sex bc of all the emotions/relief, which makes me laugh
honeydew / 7463 posts
@Danizaur: I really don't think I can wait. It sounds appealing but I have no self control.
Obviously we'd be happy with anything. I'd like to have a girl because my sister has two boys. It would be nice to add a little girl. My husband really has no preference, but he's convinced it'll be a boy just because his whole family is boys.
As for the twins question, we both wouldn't mind it at all. My husband is actually a triplet! So he liked having that growing up. (But to be fair it was due to fertility treatment so it wasn't natural and has no bearing on us of course BUT with my hip problems both my OB and my orthopedic surgeon said multiples would be bad for me (lots of pain and bed rest). So that part scares me.

@runsyellowlites: Good point!! I didn't think of that!
@citymouse: I know. I think keeping it a surprise would be so much fun. But I have no self control.
@AuntieEm: yeah I don't have self control either. I would find out today if it was possible! Lol
I'm a very small person and my husband was a big baby, so I don't know how well I could carry twins or triplets! Who knows though? I hope it all works out for you and your hips don't give you problems!

@Danizaur: I'm with you. I'd be happy (although anxious) and excited with twins, but we don't have family history of multiples so we'll just have to wait and see. And we'd both love a girl...it's really actually adorable to hear DH talk about how he would just love to have a sweet little daughter first. Melts my heart! I could totally be team green, but DH said right away that he wants to find out as soon as he can. I figured I'll give him that, my disdain for pink things is strong enough that we won't be flooded with pink things even if we announce and it's a girl.
@runsyellowlites: Yay! Welcome to the February crew I'm sort of jealous of your home birth option, I'm in too remote of an area to have any access to trained midwives for that possibility. Can't wait to read your story in Feb/March!
@BlueberryPie: Thanks! I'm SUPER excited to be here Now that I've told the partners at work, it feels WAY more real. At least I got out of Subway lunches for the next 9 months, hehe!
@citymouse: Thanks! I need all the luck in the world!
Question - When should one start taking "bump" pictures. I feel silly at 6 weeks (I only have a food baby, haha!) but my girlfriend at 26 weeks said START NOW! So when is everyone else going to start snapping photos?

Ugh now I'm having spotting. I went to the gym and jogged very lightly 2 miles and then did some 5lb weights. Came upstairs and there was dark brown in my undies. Called my doctor and after there was a lot more and it was slightly redder. But since then just light brown when I wipe.
The doc on call had no concern at all even after telling my history. He thinks its a little bit of blood from yesterday's exam and said to call again if its more like a period. Otherwise just wait till Monday's ultrasound.
This sucks, hope he's right about being from the exam. I am so freaked out right now! I guess it's nothing I can control so no sense in freaking.

@AuntieEm: It is probably from your exam yesterday! I spotted occasionally with P after DH & I would dtd & when I got my gbs done.
@Danizaur: That was HUGE for me! With G I got almost ALL clothes and not squat off our registry! Even worse, alot of the clothes were size/season appropriate so most of the things he never even wore. It was my way of controlling what our guests bought. lol
@indi: Thanks!!! We actually don't have any in town, they service our area from about 2 hours away. We only have 2 and our city is ~100k! (our medical community is poo poo here)

@AuntieEm: Im so sorry lady!! Its probably as your Dr said, from the exam. Take it easy tonight and try to rest this week.
honeydew / 7463 posts
@runsyellowlites: @citymouse: Thanks ladies! I'm so going to relax. Lots of water and no more working out till I talk to my doc on Monday. I know it was probably a coincidence but it scared the bejeezus out of me so its not worth it.
@runsyellowlites: p.s. glad you're here and hope its for good (i.e. no March boards for you). If I recall, you really wanted a February baby right? Sorry if I'm confused!

Whew this thread is moving quickly, struggling to keep up!
@runsyellowlites: Welcome!! So happy to have you here and hope you get to stick around with the Feb mamas!
@Danizaur: We were TG with our LO and loved the surprise, but now I feel as though I've been there, done that, and I want to find out with this baby! DH is firmly against the idea though so I think I will end up being TG this time too, sigh. It would just be so nice to know if I need to get just the gender neutral baby clothes out of storage or all of DD's clothes! I still have a few months to try to change his mind, but I have a feeling we'll be TG again. Part of me is excited about being TG again, but part of me just wants to know! As for preference, none really but if I had to choose, I would love another little girl so DD can have a sister close in age.
Oh and as for twins, I could not imagine anything worse! I am petrified of the thought of multiples and hate the thought of having to divide my attention between two newborns, not to mention my toddler as well. Fortunately, in the scans we've already had, there is only one baby in there, thank goodness!
@indi: For bump pictures, I haven't taken any yet with this pregnancy but with my last, I started at five weeks and am glad I did. I had no bump, like absolutely nothing, prior to 20 weeks (and even then it looked like a little bloat) but in comparing the weekly pictures, I could see my midsection getting thicker each week, if not forming a proper bump. I'd start now, I actually meant to take one this morning but forgot.
@AuntieEm: I'm sure it's probably just from your exam and then the exercise on top of it. Apparently the cervix is super sensitive and your blood volume is increasing so any little irritation can cause it to bleed. Easier said than done, but try not to worry and just take it easy. I'll be thinking of you!
coconut / 8305 posts
@AuntieEm: And stay out of the bathroom! I know when I spotted it was hard to not keep checking! And yes, I sooooo want a February baby! I went to 41+5 with P so I have me fx that this time I go early!
@Ree723: thanks! And I stink at keeping up with the threads. I try but usually fail miserably! lol
honeydew / 7463 posts
@runsyellowlites: Yes good advice! I just took a shower and now I'm going to lay in bed. But last time i checked after shower there was nothing. I'm not tired after the commotion but hoping some Friends reruns will lull me to sleep
Oh and just curious - why are you so excited for a Feb baby specifically?
coconut / 8305 posts
@AuntieEm: Ummm no reason really.... just when we started talking about ttc I fell in love with the month. And DH's birthday is in Mar... I'd like everyone to have their own birth month... makes party planning easier. lol
nectarine / 2527 posts
@Danizaur: so I would love twins and were hoping for it but at the scan there was only one which is just as fine just gives us another chance to make number 2 once this one is born maybe a year gap but we would be happy with either boy or girl but I'm leaning more towards a boy because both sides are filled with girls so it would be nice to have a boy. And we are definitely going to find out ASAP
@AuntieEm: I'm sure it's fine my MW told me yesterday to take it easy but don't be too alarmed if there is spotting but just pay attention if it gets heavy and bright red so just try and stay calm and rest
honeydew / 7463 posts
@Ree723: @Honeygold89: Thanks gals
You're all really helping to calm my nerves, honestly

Have my first appt for July 8th!!! She offered to come down sooner but I know that this early it's just getting the logistics down.... takes forever to be able to hear anything with a doppler! Hope we can get in for an u/s soon!!!!

@lavender: I cannot stand cheese at the moment, it makes me so sad! Damn food aversions!

@Danizaur: We'd like one of each but don't really mind in which order we have them. We'll find out and gender reveal at my baby shower (we'll probably have that early third trimester so that people aren't busy with Christmas/away for the summer) so hopefully that means we get a lot of gender neutral stuff! I wouldn't mind having twins - I used to really want twins but now that we're actually facing the reality of starting a family I'm fine with one!
nectarine / 2527 posts
@SweetMamaM: yeah me and DH talking bout baby shower time and said dec wouldn't be fun because of Christmas and everyone will be busy plus that's my birthday month and January might be cutting it too close so we say between late oct mid nov which I hope isn't too early

Who says it's all roses when you get your BFP?! I am a wreck! Like I've said before I'm overseas, but my doctor had me get my progesterone checked with a local clinic. I got it done last week (my levels were 14.8) and she just now gets back to me and tells me I need to get on progesterone supplements - that are not available where I am! Ugh, now I'm beyond stressed out. Trying to get them shipped here, but even then shipping from overseas will take most likely a week or more to get here. Any advice?

@Danizaur: I am hoping for a baby girl! We already have a boy, so I would love to have one of both. A lot of boys run in the family so we will see!
I definitely do not want twins!
@Indi: I am going to start at 6 weeks, which will be this coming up Monday. I didn't take that many with my first and I really regret it!

@runsyellowlites: Congrats! Really hoping you get that February baby!

@mrs.halfsie: See this is what is so confusing to me. My progesterone is 12.8 and when I asked my doc if I needed supplements she said no way, anything above 10 is fine. Then after my scare last night I asked the on call doc and he too said no way, 12.8 is normal!
I guess different docs take different precautions? I'm just going to trust her and not push the issue, just thought I'd comment on how weird it is
pear / 1531 posts
@mrs.halfsie: Is there a fertility clinic near you? They might know what to do. Also, have you checked to see if progesterone shots are available? I have been on those for 6 weeks now. Not fun but definitely doable.
olive / 63 posts
@AuntieEm: thanks for sharing! I have a gut feeling that I'm okay, but I'm in the same boat as you and totally trust my doc. It'll cost a couple hundred bucks but I think I'll try to get them if I can. My mind is at ease a bit, I'm over ten and I'm hoping it can only go up, right
@raintreebee: I've been to a women's clinic here, once for a blood draw and then again today to ask about the progesterone. Apparently they don't prescribe progesterone - in fact the drug doesn't exist here - but they do HCG shots instead. I was thinking that was weird, but that's just protocol here I guess...

@citymouse: YAY!
@Springtime: Thanks! Me too!!! I need time between birthdays to plan!!! lol!
@indi: I started taking pics around 13 weeks I think... when I felt like I started to show. Oddly enough this time it feels overwhelming to think about doing them... trying to get myself presentable for documenting pics while having boths kiddos here.... I even gave up on P's monthly pics when she hit a year! lol
honeydew / 7463 posts
@citymouse: Aww thanks I'm ok. Still very very small amount if light brown but only when I wipe. I called my doc this am and left a message with the nurse. I know I spoke to the on call last night but since my doc specifically said "see you next week unless you start spotting" I wanted to make sure she knows too. Waiting to see if she calls or not. I'm not as scared as I was since all of you ladies made me feel better
and the exam bleeding does make sense.
We'll see, only time will tell.
honeydew / 7463 posts
@Honeygold89: @IcebergMom: Thanks ladies. I took full advantage of rest today Stayed in PJs and took naps!
My doc called back again and echoed the same...probably some bleeding from my exam Monday, not worried at all. So, just taking it easy and counting down the days till Monday.
I should be 6w5d on Monday. I should def see a heartbeat by then, right? (Assuming all is ok).
cantaloupe / 6692 posts
Had to call into work today. I woke up feeling like I got hit by a truck with a horrible headache. My MS is also slowing starting to try and make an appearance. Work has been overly stressful last two weeks so I felt like I just REALLY needed a break.
I feel much better after resting all day. We go to the doctor tomorrow morning! I'm so excited!
nectarine / 2527 posts
@AuntieEm: I think so because at my appt Monday I was 6w5d and we seen the sac and stuff but my MW just decided to wait two more weeks to listen to the heartbeat since it was still real early
cantaloupe / 6692 posts
@indi: I just now noticed your bump picture question! I've already started. I have my 4 week and 5 week picture. Friday ill take my 6 week. They all look the same but I still enjoy doing it!
Is anyone journaling or documenting their pregnancy? I tried paper journaling but couldn't get into it. Now I'm documenting in a shutterfly project book and adding my pictures and thoughts week by week. I love it!
honeydew / 7463 posts
@Honeygold89: Thanks! Yeah I figure might be too early to listen, I was just thinking in comparison to what we saw this week. 5w5d was empty sac. I'm just thinking that we should see fetal pole and flickering HB by 6w5d. If we see nothing again, thinking its not a good sign.
I know I'm being negative Just want to be prepared for all options.
honeydew / 7463 posts
@Danizaur: Thanks! Really trying! Just so hard with one MC under my belt...empty sac, somewhat low levels, spotting and no symptoms just makes me feel not very confident. But then every one of those things when googled says its not necessarily a bad thing, it's just the combination that has me worried.
nectarine / 2527 posts
@AuntieEm: you should be able to see more by then and honestly it's nothing wrong with trying to prepare yourself for all sides but at the same time try not to let negativity take over and of course just try and relax I understand how u feel after one MC cause I still try to stay calm and hope everything keep going better then the first time and I'm pass the point where I MC the first one and I didn't get to see anything but an empty uterus the first time and to see something this time makes me feel a little better but honestly not fully safe but I refuse to be negative though everything will be ok for us both I keep all HB ladies in my prayers at night

Spotted again today. Friday night, Sunday morning, Monday morning, and this afternoon. I know it can be normal but I also know that it can not be. Im pretty upset and frustrated.
