@citymouse: totally butting in here to give you a virtual hug. Think you need to call the doc on call? Scary stuff , this being pregnant thing.

@citymouse: Uggghhh! So sorry, that sucks. Will you call your doc in the AM? They say not to worry but how can we not?!
I'm still spotting, no change since last night. Wish it had stopped by now. Might call doc in the AM if its still going on.
I'll be thinking of you! xo

@Danizaur: I'm a passionate writer so I'm journaling. I see it as a really good resource for my future child too, it's one of the things I miss with my mum having passed away. I can't ask her about her experiences.
@citymouse: I am so sorry this keeps happening to you. It would freak me out!

@LovelyPlum: @AuntieEm: @SweetMamaM: My biggest worry is that we are going out of town to the beach next week. So, what if I started bleeding and it wasn't just a miscarriage and I am on some little beach island. I called and they are squeezing me in at 2 today. My nurse actually said, don't tell anyone Im the one that made the appt. Apparently they are slammed today. Im just so thankful. Bad part is that DH cant be there. I feel so bad that he wont be there for the first U/S. We both agree this is best, but it still sucks.

@citymouse: I agree its best to just get checked out. At least for peace of mind. How many weeks are you now?

Hey ladies! Just got out of my first doctors appointment!
They didn't do an ultrasound but that's okay. It's too early and they said there's not much point in one.
Everything looked good. I'm very pro med free and want to avoid all medical interventions if possible so Im hesitant about using a doctor in my area. Like I said, I prefer a midwife but they're almost impossible to find here. So far I liked my experience! I actually didn't get to see my doctor because he had 6 deliveries today. I was disappointed. I understand...he's the most popular doctor in my area for a reason and it wasn't necessary to see him today...but how many times is that going to happen again?
It went pretty well. My next appointment is the 25th. We will get our first ultrasound then. So now I'm going to go home and take a nap. They took 5 vials of blood and that always just DRAINS me!

@AuntieEm: @citymouse: thinking about you both. So sorry you're going through some scary situations.
honeydew / 7463 posts
@Danizaur: Glad it went well and I think it's for the best that you didn't have an ultrasound today. It is early and can be scary! Better to wait for the 25th when you'll be able to see a lot more
Happy napping! I'll be following suit in an hour or so, I can feel it

Any tips on how to beat this awful fatigue? I literally am about to fall asleep at my desk here at work. I have a bad headache and can barely open my eyes! I get about 7 hours of sleep at night, but thinking I need 9 or 10!

@Springtime: no advice but I am right there with you - it's been so hard just getting through the week. This little appleseed is sucking the life out of me!
olive / 73 posts
@springtime: I was just thinking the same thing today!! Except I have been getting about 8-9 hours of sleep/night and it doesn't make too much of a difference. I get enough sleep and even though I still feel tired I can't sleep anymore. Exercising seems to help a little bit, although my pilates class today may not have been the most solid choice with a bloated belly. Looking forward to what everyone else has to say!!
clementine / 984 posts
@Springtime: No help here...so far the list of ridiculous places I have fallen asleep includes 1- in my bathroom leaning against the wall, and 2- at the drive-up window at the bank (in park, thankfully)! The poor teller guy said "uh, ma'am, sorry to wake you from your nap, but I have your money." *mortified*
I think I may have to try to sneak in some lunchtime naps, because this is getting crazy! Tell me your secrets, ladies who've beat this. Like @SweetMamaM: and @MSBartlett:, sleeping through the night isn't working, the little one is sapping my energy!
olive / 73 posts
@indi: Ohh no! Thankfully I am not that fatigued. I am able to exercise in the middle of the day and that seems to give me a little boost before I pass out after dinner.
cantaloupe / 6692 posts
@Springtime: Sleeping more at night doesn't seem to help. Naps seem to help me out. I shut the door at my office for lunch and just take a cat nap sometimes. I just woke up from a almost 3 hour nap at home just now!
They say not to nap more than 20-30 minutes for a power nap but I think when you're pregnant you should nap as long as possible!
Schedule you some time to nap once (or twice) a day. That's the only thing I could think of to help.

I feel like I'm not really "fatigued" but maybe just lazier Up until this week I was always running around trying not to be idle either running errands, working out, cleaning, etc (my contract ended in April/May so I'm currently not working and not sure if I will go back - my quick backstory). This week I get the bare minimum around the apartment done and then I am sooooo lazy. No desire to do anything but lay around and nap sometimes.

@Danizaur: that's good your appt went well
@Springtime:I've heard working out and taking little naps here and there help
@AuntieEm: I feel like you but now my laziness has lead to me just laying j. The bed and before you know it I'm out for a hour or two I'm currently not working and waiting to start school for RN so me and DH decided its best to just chill til school

@AuntieEm: @raintreebee: @Honeygold89: @Danizaur: @MrsKoala: Thanks ladies! I appreciate all of your words of encouragement and thoughts so much! DH was able to come to the appt which I am so thankful for. No spotting today. Dr. did an exam (SO uncomfortable) and he said he didnt see any blood and my (very posterior, reason for the discomfort) cervix is closed. Very good news. I also begged them for a transvaginal US and thankfully they took the time to do that for me. We got to see the heart beat!! I am so glad that DH was there for that. He did not enjoy watching me squirm during the exam though! They didnt draw any blood or anything bc the cervix was closed and no blood in my vagina. They will do that at our regular appt on the 8th. All very good news and I feel much better about going on vacation this next week. I know we aren't out of the woods of course, but we are very relieved. I am 7.5 weeks. Thank you ladies again for your thoughts and prayers!

@AuntieEm: More spotting throughout the day?
@Danizaur: So glad things went well. Sorry about the Dr. not being there though. Hopefully he will be next time!
@Springtime: I sleep around 10 hrs a night. I work from home so that makes it easier, but I would definitely be making the effort to go to bed early if I didnt. I also sometimes take naps when I "get off" work around 5:30 on the couch downstairs.
@indi: hahahahahaha that is the best thing Ive heard. Love that. Hoping you feel more energized soon!

@citymouse: yay that's so good to hear and I'm so glad everything is going good so far but you and everyone else will still be in my prays and thoughts at night
honeydew / 7463 posts
@citymouse: @LovelyPlum: Thanks ladies! I actually feel pretty good today. Haven't had any spotting at all since 1 or 2pm. I did call my doc again this morning since today was day 3 and they still said "don't worry, it's from the exam". So, I dunno...just trying to relax. Good thing is I've had no cramping whatsoever so I guess that's a positive.
And it's (almost) Friday and appt is Monday so it's just around the corner I honestly go between scared, optimistic and skeptical nonstop throughout the day. Right now I feel good and optimistic

Had interesting first appointment with doctor today, it kinda didn't go anything how I expected it to. He didn't seem to have anything to say about me being overweight and I kinda thought he would. Even though I said I had a positive OPK, he wanted me to have an early ultrasound for dating purposes - I didn't realise how much things are usually ruled by LMP here. Most surprising to me is that he wasn't keen on me delivering at a birthing centre for my first. I said to him that I wasn't too amenable to a hospital birth because our local hospital is the one my mother died in. He knows I'm meeting the midwife on Monday and I'll get her opinion on it as well... It's just sort of thrown up something that I hadn't really thought about. Hrmmm.

Here in Canada we don't see our OB until way later in the pregnancy and no ultrasound at the first appointments because we're just seeing our family doctors. Need to make my appointment! Although DH is a fam doc so I'm not rushing. With our last pregnancy that ended in MC in novemeber we had told so many of his colleagues at the hospital so I'm kind of shy this time of going! I don't want everyone knowing if something happens. But I will soon!

@SweetMamaM: well at least you had a overall good appt
@IcebergMom: how cool is that DH being a fam doc that could come in handy lol

@Honeygold89: pretty great! When I gave birth to LO 2 years ago he knew everyone and I'm pretty sure that's how we snagged a private room and such great treatment!

@SweetMamaM: Glad to hear that your overall appointment went well!
I (very sadly) cannot be seen by a doctor at our office until I am closer to 10 weeks, which is a very distant July 22. The fatigue is sucking me dry today. I slept about 11 hours last night and woke up still tired. and its raining and thundering. and most of the people in my office took today off from work. Today is going to be a very looooong day, so hope to see lots of activity on HB today to get me through!!

@IcebergMom: that's pretty cool
@MSBartlett: aw I hope time flys for you for your appt

@AuntieEm: Glad to hear that you are feeling good!
@SweetMamaM: Hmmm very interesting that the doc's pushing you to give birth in the hospital. I wonder why it matters that this is your first? Definitely understand why you would be hesitant to deliver at that hospital.
@IcebergMom: Oooh private room? Deluxe treatment! Nice!

So the bloat has gotten out of control at 8 weeks over here. I caved last night and bought my first pair of maternity pants and am hoping they will feel a little better on my bloat bump.
cantaloupe / 6692 posts
@SweetMamaM: I hope things go as you plan. My nurse (I didn't get to see my doctor) talked me up about all the possibilities of a c section yesterday and made me uncomfortable. She was nice but kind of put me off as saying "something WILL go wrong."
@MrsKoala: 6 weeks here and I still have a nice round little bloat belly. Someone at work pointed it out today. Lol
I lost 13 pounds over the winter and could comfortably fit into my work pants come spring and now they are all tight again.
My weight at the doctor was only 5 pounds higher than my post weight loss weight so I was actually pleased! With all the bloat and extra eating and lack of exercise from busy work I was expecting worse.
pear / 1743 posts
@Danizaur: I think that's part of my problem, he's acting like things will go wrong. His first reason was previous blood sugar issues (which haven't been an issue in years, and were never diabetes) and obviously if I ended up with GD, I'd have to rethink my plans. His second reason is that I couldn't get an epidural at the birthing centre... I think it's a big assumption that I'd want one.

Yesterday I had my dating ultrasound and they pushed my edd back to the 21st, making me only 6 weeks. Other than that still feeling nauseous all the time and the bloat is awful!
cantaloupe / 6692 posts
@lavender: Yay! I'm due the 21st too! They didn't do a dating ultrasound on me but my nurse said that my uterus felt like a 6 week uterus so my due date I gave her seems spot on at the moment. I get an ultrasound at 10 weeks so they may say something different then.
