Hi everyone! I've been hiding out the past couple weeks because I've been so scared to post anything in fear of jinxing myself. At my first/only appointment, the baby was measuring about 6 days behind what I thought it should be (6w1d vs 7w), although the heartbeat was strong. I got my bfp at 11 dpo and I'm pretty certain of when I ovulated, so I know I can't be 6 days off. They also found out at the appointment that my progesterone levels were low (10.6), which would explain the bleeding I was having. They started me on supplements right away, but I am just so scared it wasn't soon enough. The bleeding/low progesterone and the small measurements have me absolutely panicked. I am going back on Thursday for another ultrasound and more blood work, so I am just hoping everything comes back normal. This waiting game is brutal. I hate that answers can only come with time.
@AuntieEm: I just wanted to speak up and let you know I can somewhat relate to how you feel. I know it's not quite the same, but I'm definitely thinking of you and sending you some good vibes! I hope your next ultrasound gives you better measurements and peace of mind
To all my February ladies, I hope those of you who have been sick are feeling better and those who feel well continue to do so!!

@Ree723: Thanks so much for weighing in on sleep positions! I'm glad that there's another stomach sleeper out there! Sorry about those wildfires. That must be a pain because you can never predict them or how the wind will blow. I hope you were able to get some relief with the AC.
@BlueberryPie: Hope that the appointment Thursday goes well!! I really hate that you have to play the waiting game.

Hope that everything's going well with you mamas worried about measuring a little off. Please try not to stress- I know it's easier said than done. Those measurements really can be off, especially so early on. Keeping my fellow Feb. mamas in my prayers
Pretty sure I have HG not just MS, and pretty sure I did with my first baby, too. Narrowly avoided a trip to the ER last night when I couldn't keep anything down, or from going right through me. Been sipping Gatorade every 15 mins all night and all day so far today as the doc said to, but still feeling horribly nauseated, barely resisting vomiting, dizzy, and unable to eat much. 10.5 weeks and I do know at the very least it will ease around 18 like it did before. Waaaah! Thanks for listening to my self-pity

@BlueberryPie: oh wow, we really are in a similar position. Did your doc seem worried at all? Mine really wasn't at all so I'm taking some comfort in that. I'll keep you and baby in my prayers.
@erinpye: Wow, I feel so bad for you! A good friend of mine had HG and went to the hospital 4 times for dehydration and they eventually had a nurse visit her at home with IVs every few days! I guess when I have a pity party about feeling nausea I should remember her (and you). Thinking of you!

@ElbieKay: Cngrats on a good scan yesterday! So sorry I didn't see your post, I somehow missed it. That's great news and I can't wait to continue to hear your updates!

@Ree723: Oh and sorry you have to experience the asthma and the wildfires! Jeeze, those are both scary things. Hoping you feel better and everything is under control soon!

Gosh! I haven't been on in ages. We celebrated my LOs 2nd bday this week and its been hectic! I need to catch up! But I'll say my blood work is fine. No ultrasounds for me until 18 weeks (that's normal for my province).
Here's my girl on her bday.

@ElbieKay: welcome! I'm also coming off a mc (last nov). It's stressful to always been wondering what is going to happen.

Getting an IV as I'm typing this, due to dehydration from constant nausea and vomiting. Hypremesis sucks.

Is it a good excuse to smack your husband for frying hamburger meat around a pregnant woman?
If I get sick I'm going to go spill it all over his chili. Ugh!!

@erinpye: Oh no! An IV? I'm wishing that time goes by quickly for you until HG finally subsides.

@erinpye: Sending lots of positive thoughts you way lady! Really hoping the IV fluids help you start feeling better and maybe they can get some meds into you that will ease the vomiting whilst not causing adverse reactions. You are a trooper and I'm hoping things improve for you very soon!
@BlueberryPie: I'll be thinking of you and praying for a great ultrasound tomorrow. Not knowing is just a horrible place to be in but fingers crossed for some good news tomorrow. Stick baby, stick!
@MrsKoala: @AuntieEm: Thanks ladies. Fortunately, the AC eventually cleared the smoke out and I was able to sleep! I'm seeing my GP next week and will ask her about getting an inhaler again as this is happening often enough that it's kind of silly to not have one on me at all times!
@IcebergMom: Too cute! Happy birthday to your LO!
honeydew / 7463 posts
@Ree723: My OB actually told me that asthma can worsen in pregnancy, so it might not just be the smoke!
I'm same as you, was diagnosed asmathic years ago, mostly triggered by environment (smoke, pollen, etc). I had an inhaler but its been years since ive had one. So when I told her this she said to let her know if it acts up as pregnancy can exacerbate it.
Jeeze, pregnancy seems to affect everything!!!
When we were first discussing whether to ttc, DH said "even once we get pregnant, nothing will change until the 9 months is up". Uh, yeah. Speak for yourself, MAN! Everything changes for us instantly.

@ElbieKay: feb 23 according to my app! My first doc appointment is at the end of the month. although I had my blood work done already and everything's on track. My husband is a doc so he wrote me my forms to get my tests done. Haha
Your edd?

@Honeygold89: ugh. I hate cooking for my LO now too. Everything smells like garbage. Even typin the word garbage makes me woozy with nausea.
But I must cook for her! Haha she can't eat junky takeout like me

We've told our family and close friends who noticed I wasn't drinking! Who have you guys told???
pomegranate / 3231 posts
@IcebergMom: Ha! Mine is Feb 23 too! I calc'd Feb 25 based on my OPK result, but my doc said 23. Not sure if that is based on my LMP or my scan result. It did not occur to me to ask in my appt but I will see her again in 1.5 weeks for my T21 blood draw. My practice schedules an initial checkup and heartbeat scan at 6-8 weeks so I have my first us images already.
Technology is amazing. I read today that NT scans only became standard in 2003. Really incredible.

@IcebergMom: I know I have nearly cooked either other then when my stepdaughter is here and even thn most of the times I wind up giving up Mac n cheese (her fav) of TV dinners cooking is no fun
pomegranate / 3231 posts
@IcebergMom: Only my husband and my best friend know. (Well, and some anonymous internet people!) We want to wait til we get our T21 and/or NT scan results back before telling our parents. We don't want to involve them in any decisions relating to that.
Similar to getting engaged, I really feel like we should tell our parents, sibling and grandparent before anyone else. My best friend is an exception for moral support purposes. (I don't generally find my parents much source of moral support. It's just the nature of our relationship.)
I am trying to figure out how long I can hold out before telling my boss. Unfortunately as of yesterday I noticed that I cannot suck my stomach in quite as much as usual. I really really really hope I don't show too early. Ideally I would wait til my anatomy scan but I doubt it's realistic. In case anything goes wrong, I really do not want to share that with my coworkers. And I am the first pregnant employee at my 60-person company, so I have the misfortune of being a pioneer of sorts.
persimmon / 1295 posts
@ElbieKay: it's hard to know when to tell work. I found out I was preg in October and told my workplace in December (for my LO). I wasn't showing but I thought before Christmas holiday was a good cheerful time to spread the news. And I had had my anatomy ultrasound and felt confident.

Is anyone declining tests, or they arent standard where you live? We opted out of Downs testing and another kind of test as well. It would be nice to know, but it wouldnt change anything for us. Also, we both can become obsessive and if we did find out there was a defect we wouldnt be able to enjoy the rest of this pregnancy. We would spend the next several months just researching how to best parent the baby, how to care for them, etc...

@IcebergMom: Lol as far as people knowing DH was so excited he told my mom and dad and brother and his mom and sister the next week after we found out so they been knowing since I was 5 weeks and of course I told my BFF and three of my closet cousins, stepdaughter who's only 5 and excited and my two nieces who are 5 and 4 at 7 weeks after the first U/S and then on the Fourth of July for some reason my mom felt like it was the best time to tell my aunts and uncle and other close family so I did but it didn't bother me cause they all knew about the MC in march and were so comforting and also knew we were going to try again

@citymouse: I'm all for the NT scan and that's only because of getting to see the baby again before the anatomy scan so I look at it as a bonus scan for us and regardless of the results we will love the baby just the same but I'm not doing the others like with the needle going in my belly I just don't trust that

Oh this thread moves so fast, I'll need to find some time to read all the way through again!
We had our first appointment today, and I'm happy to say that we LOVE our OB. He even gave us a freebie u/s and photos, no charge! It was so awesome to see the LO and hear the heartbeat, definitely made it more real and was a great way for DH to get more "in on the action."
@AuntieEm: Oof, EVERYTHING changes. I swear DH thinks I'm making some of these things up. Nope, my nipples really do feel THAT sore.
@citymouse: We haven't really hashed through all that yet, but I'm more inclined to do the non-invasive ones and opt-out of the needle-in-the-stomach type. I know it wouldn't change anything for us either way, but then we could be best prepared if there are special circumstances or needs at birth. Even the "will you plan to circ your boy" Q at our appointment today caught me off guard...that's a loooong time from now, we haven't discussed that yet.
cantaloupe / 6692 posts
@citymouse: We're not doing them. I think they are offered to all pregnant women, not just those at higher risk here. I don't want to know. I wouldn't change a thing but I would rather finish this pregnancy not knowing rather than worrying all the time.
persimmon / 1295 posts
@citymouse: we will be getting all the info we can from blood and urine tests but nothing invasive! They wouldn't offer that stuff here in Canada unless they suspected something majorly off anyhow so I can't go in asking for it.
cantaloupe / 6692 posts
@AuntieEm: I don't have asthma but I have scalp eczema.
I've had it my whole life and went under treatment when I was 14 that made it completely manageable and controllable.
Its gotten so much worse because of the pregnancy. Now I have flakes falling out of my scalp 24/7 (embarrassing) and it itches so bad!!
honeydew / 7463 posts
@Danizaur: You poor thing! That sucks! My OB told me allergies get worse too! I know eczema isn't an allergy but its sort of in the same realm (to me at least).
Fortunately I haven't noticed anything with my asthma or allergies as of yet. I'm waiting too see if any new allergies arise (which she said is also possible).
honeydew / 7463 posts
@citymouse: I'm getting the NT and I think it's called "sequential" testing done.
Really will not matter to us what the results are, but I think that I'll be calmer knowing what to expect and be able to prepare for any special circumstances. DH and I both have special needs family members and that is what helped with our decision.
DH sort of didn't want to know at first (I think he was scared) but once I told him my reasoning he understood.
NT scan scheduled for August 15th.
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
@IcebergMom: We've told three people and only because we know they can keep a secret. Our families don't even know yet. We just weren't comfortable telling anyone until after the NT scan mainly because we know people who have had a bad scan (chromosome issue incompatible with life).
@citymouse: We're are going through with the NT scan (U/S + blood test) because we want to be prepared. We've seen the worst of what can happen with testing and feel confident that we'd rather know. We won't do anything invasive like an amnio or CVS since there are blood tests that can be done now that are much more accurate with much less risk. We'd move on to one of those tests if the screening didn't look good.

Its so interesting to hear everyone's perspectives on things!
Sorry Im not able to keep up and respond to everything, but I do read what everyone is writing!!
We had our first US today! It was so amazing. The baby was moving so much. Putting its fingers in its mouth, arching its back, and lifting its legs up and down. I could have watched the screen all day! I think there was a thread a few weeks ago asking if ppls babies acted similarly in utero and after they were born. Most said yes. So, we are both excited and nervous to have a hyper child! Well have to see if they are still super active when I can feel them moving. We are measuring 2 days ahead of what I thought, so today we are 10w4d. They decided to keep my DD the same in their computer since its only 3 days difference. February 6th! Heartbeat looked good: 161/min. Everything else in there looked good as well the tech said (ovaries and such.) She also said that my uterus is extremely pitched forward, like almost laying perpendicularly to my body. I find bodies so interesting!!
So, that's our update. Next appt with the Midwife is Aug 8th. Can't wait!

@AuntieEm: I have eczema around my nose. Hasn't been exacerbated yet, but I have noticed my skin is a lot more oily!
