@Springtime: I'm paying for an early reveal. I have to wait til 17 weeks because we will be on vacation when I'm 16 weeks. Some of my friends went at 14 weeks to find out. No fair! I have to wait til at least 16

    31 days. Too far away

@ElbieKay: Yay!! Congrats on a boy!

I am going to live through all of you bees finding out bc we are team green!

@citymouse: there's a part of me that wants to do team green, but a bigger part of me is so impatient. Lol I also have a granny in law who's life long dream came true when I got pregnant (let's just say DH is her favorite grandchild and she has been waiting on his genetics to be passed on since before we were even married) who wants to know what LO is RIGHT NOW. She would probably strangle me if I waited.
She has reminded us 100 times she doesn't care what it is, she will be happy either way. But she will probably die of happiness if we tell her it's a girl. All the other great grandchildren are boys.

I can't imagine anything being more exciting than hearing "It's a ____!" After 40 long weeks!!!

@ElbieKay: what a relief that your results came back the way you had hoped That really is just the best news.

@ElbieKay: yay I'm glad then finally came in and were good results and how exciting to know this early now I wish I would have gotten them to do my gender test too but it's ok I'll know in the next couple of weeks (5 hopefully they fly by!)

@Danizaur: we're doing our scan at 18 week but that's when my doc wanted to do it which is fine with me I hope your time flys for you because I'm right after you lol

@lilteacherbee: @SweetiePie: @lavender: @Springtime: @Danizaur: @citymouse: @SweetMamaM: @Honeygold89: Thanks all! I am just happy to have a healthy baby so far! I got worked up about the possibility of having to make a really awful decision. I think I was just overly anxious after my early miscarriage in January.

My husband really wanted a daughter but I think he'll pull through. Plus for some reason we both had a hunch that it was a boy so we weren't all that surprised, which is weird!

    Only 5 more days aaahhh!

@Mrs Music: Hang in there! I was dying last week!!! FYI, I had to ask the tech for the nuchal fold measurement. She was not very forthcoming with the results.

I need to catch up on everyone! My goal for tomorrow. we're doing well over here. No ultrasound for my Little Canadian fetus until 18 weeks. Standard here. Hate waiting!!!

I seem to have fallen off the planet lately but I'm going to try and catch up, albeit in a disjointed manner I am sure!

@ElbieKay: Congrats on your great test results and finding out you're having a little boy!! So exciting and you must be so happy that you can breathe a big sigh of relief now!

@sweetmamam: yay for great NT scans! Sounds like your little one is just perfect!

@mrsmusic: I did not realise we had another Aussie on the boards! I'm not an Aussie but am married to one and currently living in Darwin for DH's work. Whereabouts are you living? I'm guessing it must be one of the capital cities as you talked about wanting a seat on the train!

@sweetiepie: I've been thinking of you and am so glad you're doing well!

@erinpye: How have you been doing? Is your MS starting to ease up at all?

@springtime: exciting that you're having an early gender scan! Any feeling on which gender it will be? We have officially decided not to find out so we've got a long 24 weeks to go before we know if I've got another little girl on the way or a little boy!

@citymouse: We can be strong together as fellow TG mamas whilst everyone else is making their announcements! I know it's going to be hard getting through the 20 week scan without asking what it is, but after that, we're done with ultrasounds, barring any complications, until baby arrives so at least we won't be tempted again!

I know I'm forgetting some people but I hope everyone is doing well!

All is good over here - finally got the NT blood work results back and all looks great! The radiologist is recommending a change of due date as my measurements were beyond the margin of error (+/- 7 days and mine were 8 days ahead) but the hospital hasn't confirmed it yet so I'm still sitting in limbo at either 15w1d or 16w2d. Regardless, I'm feeling good and am still waiting for any kind of a bump to appear. The only time I look even remotely pregnant is when I have a full bladder! But then it goes away as soon as I've emptied it....so weird. Ah well. With DD I didn't have any kind of a bump until 24 weeks either so must just be the way I carry.

Anyway, I will be better about staying on top of this thread, I keep falling behind!

ETA: and then I write a novel as I try to catch up...sigh.

@Ree723: haha seriously?! I live in Melbourne... but, I was born and grew up in Darwin. Are you going to RDH or DPH?

  13. Ree723

    grapefruit / 4819 posts

@Mrs Music: No way! That is too funny! I used to live and work in Melbourne! I'll be going with RDH and am trying to decide whether to go with the Community Midwives Program and give birth in the Birth Centre, or to go with the regular midwives clinic and give birth in the maternity wing of the hospital. It all comes down to whether I think I can do it without an epidural or not! What part of Melbourne are you in? I used to live in Richmond, just off Bridge Road, and worked in Moonee Ponds. I miss Melbourne, especially the cold weather! How are you coping with the cold?

  14. Mrs Music

    cherry / 209 posts

@Ree723: Near Nunawading. I have lived in Melbourne for 13 years... I still hate the cold. Give me good old Darwin heat anyday... hmm maybe you can help me... my friend is going to Darwin and wants to know where is a good place to go to eat mudcrabs... I've only ever eaten them in my house so I have no idea... do you know of anywhere?

@Ree723: aw you're so sweet to ask. Not feeling much better- spent half of my shower this AM puking because I had to stop the zofran. (It was causing other horrible side-effects). With my DD, I remember getting sick again right around 14 weeks, too, an then feeling better a few weeks later, so I'm hopeful it follows suit. SO happy to hear about great NT results for you! It's frustrating they haven't yet been able to tell you how far along you are, but I guess in the end it's just a guess anyway- right? My DD was a week late, so I'm just tacking on a week to my due date, in my mind. You'll get a bump soon- I'm waiting for the unmistakable, she hasn't just gained weight bump. I didn't have one with DD until around 24 weeks either, and this time have had one since the start, except it hasn't grown at all and looks the same at 14 and a half weeks that it did at 6. It's much more fun to have an obvious pregnant lady bump

@ElbieKay: YAY for a sweet baby boy!!! How fun you get to know already too!

  16. SweetMamaM

    pear / 1743 posts

@Ree723: great news about your NT scan! I wouldn't worry too much about the dating measurement. My bebe is measuring 6 days ahead after being 2 days behind at the six week scan (based on my positive OPK), so that's a variance of eight days. The sonographer said that measurement at dating scan is valid +/- 2 days, whereas the variance at nuchal is +/- 10 days! If you had a dating scan, go with that as your due date measurement. As he said, the only thing that really matters at this stage is that they keep growing!

@ElbieKay: So glad to see that genetic test was negative and congratulations on your boy!!!

Just popping in to say hi and wave to all my fellow Feb mamas! I've been horribly MIA and will continue to be that way for a couple of weeks until my busy time at work is through. I'd try to catch up and comment on everything but I'm exhausted. I've been in the second tri for a couple weeks but I sure don't feel like it. Still sick and still tired. Oh well. I am feeling flutters so that more than makes up for it.

@Ree723: I have a feeling it's a girl, could be wishful thinking though

  19. Springtime

    pomegranate / 3204 posts

@erinpye: I've been on zofran for the past 5 weeks, it made my nausea so much better, a life saver! I've had horrible constipation though and stomach pains, any tips? I have also stopped taking it and the nausea is back but hoping it goes away as I enter my 2nd tri!

  20. erinpye

    pomegranate / 3706 posts

@Springtime: I am not such a great example because after puking again the last few days, I went back on the zofran today. I just can't be in bed all day, with a toddler to take care of. I stopped it originally because it backed me up very severely, but the doc gave me a stool softener that's safe to take all the way through, so I'm going to try it. I hope you feel much better soon! With my first, I felt a lot better by 18 weeks. I'm worse this time and at almost 15 weeks not sure when it's going to let up, if at all

  21. Mrs Music

    cherry / 209 posts

@Springtime: do you like prunes? My mum reckons eating prunes helps with the constipation... I hate prunes so I've been adding 2 teaspoons of benefibre twice a day to drinks and I don't think mines been too bad.

  22. erinpye

    pomegranate / 3706 posts

@Mrs Music: the whole lot of regular constipation remedies are nothing in the face of Zofran! That stuff is soooo rough on your system

@Mrs Music: @erinpye: @Springtime: you poor ladies! Wishing you "easy" bathroom trips! sounds kind of weird! Hehe

@erinpye: did I ask you already how old your toddler is? Mine just turned 2 and I'm the primary caregiver. I'm so exhausted! Every night I just crash at 830. Come September I'm thinking about one day a week with a Friend's Nanny and her 14 m/o daughter at friend's house.

@citymouse: we are team green too!!

@Mrs Music: I'm actually not a seafood eater so I can't help you with places to go to get good mud crabs unfortunately.

@erinpye: Oh man, it just doesn't want to let up for you, does it? I'm so sorry, I hope you can find something that makes the Zofran tolerable. You poor thing, this sounds like something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.

@SweetMamaM: Very good point! I have an appt with the OB Monday (hopefully my only one with them as only high risk mothers see them throughout!) and was told that s/he will decide then whether or not to change the date. Doesn't really matter either way I guess!

@Springtime: Hoping you start feeling better soon as well!

In other news, I think I felt my first baby movements the other night! I've had quite the temperamental digestive system lately that has made me wonder, but this was a definitive rolling over sensation that could only be baby. I've felt similar things a couple of times since then, so I think it might really be proper baby movements! Last time, I had an anterior placenta and didn't feel any movements until 22 weeks, but it's posterior this time so I should feel them earlier. Either way, it makes me happy to feel those little movements again!

@Ree723: Thanks! Glad to hear about your NT results I hope you, uh, wind up with the most accurate due date. Enjoy the movement... I have read that you feel them earlier if it's not your first pregnancy.

@erinpye @MrsKoala: Thank you! I hope you both feel better soon now that we're in the second tri.

So I had been having this same head ach none stop since Tuesday night and it wouldn't go away so I tried Tylenol and I tried caffeine nothing worked so I finally went to the er last night and found out my potassium was low cause me to be dehydrated so they gave me two big horse size potassium pills, some fluids, and some Tylenol and I feel soo much better now thank god but the scary part was they did a CT scan but they did shield my baby with a belly shield so I felt a little better about it but it still was scary but the scan was good no problems there so now I have to follow up with my MW Monday or Tuesday for the potassium levels.

I hope the rest of you ladies are doing good!

  29. MrsKoala

    cantaloupe / 6869 posts

@Honeygold89: Oh no! I'm glad you went to get checked out and it sucks that you had to take those giant pills!! Hoping your levels are up when you have your follow up appointment.

@MrsKoala: thanks me too looks like I need to eat more potassium rich food now

@Honeygold89: eek that sounds a bit scary. Glad you both are okay though.

Even though we're waiting until the midwife appointment on Tuesday to start officially announcing, we've started to tell a few more people and it feels so good! No more secrets. The only neg reaction we've had was from BIL who thinks that for some reason that he'll have to "grow up"... Not sure why? Dudes can be weird
We also went out yesterday and looked at baby stuff at the mall. DH was really cool with it and now understands why I want my "expensive" stroller LOL. He was so cute, saying it was the first time he hasn't been awkward in a baby store!

@SweetMamaM: thanks aw it does feel good to tell people lol and we're on the way to the baby store now but we're only buying small things till we find out what it is next month!! So exciting

So I watched the episode of full house this morning where they watch the home movie of their mom bringing Michelle home from the hospital and I seriously had to go to my bedroom and cry it out for a while (10 mins at least) and pull myself together.

Lol! I laughed later but it was so emotional.
I also got up early and got ready and went out to the local festival and was feeling great. I was like, man, I don't feel tired or sick at all...this must be a turning point for me!

Then I came home and had to lay down because I felt so sick. I don't know what happened!

@SweetMamaM: So fun to look at baby things! My sister and I were out today and on a whim, went to BRU to look at the strollers and "test-drive" one. It was a lot of fun and definitely makes it feel more real.

  36. MrsKoala

    cantaloupe / 6869 posts

@Danizaur: Isn't it weird that you can feel okay and all of the sudden you are sick or tired for seemingly no reason? It throws me for a loop, still. And I hear you on the crying at emotional things. I watched the movie Beginners last night and there was a very sad scene and I had to pause and cry it out for a little while before I felt okay to continue.

@MrsKoala: I have my heart set on a Baby Jogger City Select (even though I've heard argument that it's a tank of a thing, I'm 5'10" so I'm a bit of a tank of a thing too) and it was great for DH to see how they had it set up in all the different ways (with one or two seats) to see how versatile it was.

    Hi Mamas,
Thought I'd introduce myself quickly. I've been a long-time reader (stalker...?) and finally feel like I can join in the fun. We are due February 23rd with our first - so I guess I could end up in the March thread, but I'm hoping to stay here with you ladies! We're starting to tell people now (such a relief) but are waiting to tell DH extended family at a reunion on Labor Day weekend. Hope everybody's feeling good today Excited to join you.
