@IcebergMom: haha thank you. My DD is 16 months and I hear you- I'm dead by the end of every day! It was so much easier being pregnant without a little tantrum-thrower around!

@Ree723: aww thanks and yay for flutters! I've been feeling them a lot earlier this time around, too. Makes the inconveniences a little more tolerable.

@OldEnglandMama: I'm due the same day! I'm definitely hoping for a February rather than March birthday as it's the middle of summer over here at that time.

@OldEnglandMama: Welcome and stay with us. I'm due Feb 26th so later than you are even and I haven't stepped foot into the March board...

I've been wondering if I may roll over into march as well. I have a theory though. Every date significant to mine and my husbands relationship has a 6 in it, the day we met, the day we became a couple, the day he proposed, and the day we got married...even the day we found out I was pregnant! So I think this LO will come on February 16th or February 26th.

Who knows...it may even be March 6th! I'm interested to see if my theory is true.

@mrskoala, @danizaur, @honeygold89 - thank you! @sweetmamam - no way! Seems like a good date to me. Middle of summer, so you're in the Southern Hemisphere... I have to worry about snow storms and ice up here in Maine that time of year, but the heat could be so much worse. Whereabouts are you? We made it to NZ once (my cousin's in Wellington) and loved it but there's so much more to explore...one day, when bump is out, much bigger and ready to go on adventures! @danizaur - that's an excellent and totally non-scientific theory. I like it Our lucky dates have all had a 3 in them - maybe you're onto something

    cherry / 209 posts

@Danizaur: I haven't paid attention to specific dates... but everyone I know who has had a baby... all the first kids were 2 weeks late so I was thinking more likely March then.

That being said I have been told by my mum and my MIL that I was on time and DH was early. We are late to everything though so who knows...

@OldEnglandMama: I'm in NZ, so cool that you have been here! I'm planning to just float myself in my inlaws' pool for the month of February LOL

So I have a follow up doc appt tomorrow to check and make sure everything is going good with my potassium levels I hope they stay up and don't drop again but I have been headache free since the er Friday night so fx

@Honeygold89: Praying all goes well. Eat some bananas My dad always made me eat a banana when I had a headache growing up!

Just thought I'd say hi to all again. I've been keeping up, just keeping my posting to a minimum. Wednesday will be 2 weeks post D&C and I actually feel great (physically). Bleeding has nearly stopped, just occasional spotting and my body doesn't feel "pregnant" anymore (except for the few pounds I have to shed . I have wondfos so I can't help but test every couple of days - but the line is getting to be almost non existent, which I never thought I'd be happy for - a BFN! But I'm looking forward to it since it means all is well and I'm healing and ready for round 3!
I actually had a bit of a scare the Saturday after the D&C - long story short, my OB didn't get 'everything' out so I had horrible contractions and still had to expel some of the pregnancy on my own. I went to the ER since my doc said an increase in bleeding and pain 3 days later wasn't normal. I felt fine within a couple of hours but MAN did it hurt and it was scary. I was having actual contractions with timing and peaking and so forth.
But since then I feel great.
My goals were to get back in shape, find a new contract job and celebrate our anniversary - I've been jogging & weightlifting a few nights a week, I have my 2nd interview with an AWESOME company this week (I think I'll get the offer!) and we decided to take it easy and spend our anniversary this weekend in Atlantic City (we were going to do an elaborate trip to Turks & Caicos last week but 2-4 weeks post D&C you can't swim so...we made do!). So my goals are shaping up and hopefully I'll have 2 of them crossed off by end of this week (job and anniversary).

Anyway, sorry for the novel. I don't necessarily think everyone wants to know my whole story, but if nothing else it feels good for me to type it out since not a lot of people know what I'm experiencing. It feels good to 'say' it and take a deep breath.

Glad everyone seems to be doing well and can't wait to hear/see more!
    xoxo

Had my NT scan today. So happy to see the baby looking like a baby! Now we can finally tell everyone so super excited and happy. Sorry the pic isn't so good, they didn't actually give me a photo just giant x rays... this photo was one my husband sneakily took on his iphone.

@SweetiePie: It is definitely good to hear how you are getting on. I'm sad for you that your D & C didn't go quite as planned but you seem to be in a good place.
@Mrs Music: cutie! It's such a relief to see them, isn't it?
I had an absolute nightmare of a midwife appointment today. My original midwife went on extended maternity leave and then I showed up today to find that I was not seeing the back-up, but the back-up's back up. Not only that but they couldn't find any notes on me either, which meant that my scan and my bloods hadn't been sent off to the combined screening centre. There was all this stuff that should have happened already that hadn't. I got to hear the bebe's heartbeat again and pee on a stick (no protein) but that was it. I was so angry by the end of the appointment I cried in the car driving home and then sent really snarky messages to the midwives I was meant to have seen, requesting my files (if they had them) were returned to the central registry. I got in touch with a couple of my local mom friends, told them I was pregnant (yeah, still haven't announced yet) and asked them for their recommendations. I rang one of them and she talked me off the raging pregnant lady cliff and is going to meet me next Wednesday to put me on her midwife books. Today has been a day to feel ALL the feelings.
Over-reaction? I can't even tell anymore. Damn hormones.

@SweetMamaM: Aww.. that's horrible I think they should have been prepared with your stuff. IMO you were justified having a rant.

I'm having a mini meltdown myself because I didn't get photos and my friend got photos and a CD. I called the place and they said they don't do it, I'd have to go to a private place for that... they could have told me this BEFORE.

  18. SweetMamaM

    pear / 1743 posts

@Mrs Music: I'm glad you think my meltdown was okay. This new midwife seems really onto it though and I think that's what I need. I'm freaking out enough about being a mum as it is.

    @Honeygold89: @Danizaur: @MrsKoala: @SweetMamaM: Thanks ladies!

@Honeygold89: Good luck today, hope the potassium is in check!
@SweetMamaM: I soooo don't think that's an overreaction. That was not cool that they totally dropped the ball on your NT and bloodwork. I had a similar situation when I was trying to switch OBs earlier this year. You just have to do what feels right to you. I'm switching OBs AGAIN for my next pregnancy because I feel I can't trust one who told me not to worry about low progesterone, told me everything was "fine" even though I consistently measured behind, and then didn't clear everything out in my D&C. What a nightmare. She's so sweet and I'm sure this isn't her "norm" or else she wouldn't be so highly rated. But wtf?!?!
Hopefully baby AND OB #3 both stick!

@Mrs Music: aww cute baby already and that's shocking they don't give you a pic.

@SweetMamaM: you are so not wrong I would have been the same way too ugh can't believe that happened to you I hope if you are switch the next one is better and the rest of your day goes smooth

@SweetiePie: thanks everything was fine she also told me to try Magnesia sometimes too that'll help so we'll see and I really hope and pray for our next baby and ob to stick too you deserve it after the last two nightmares

So my appt was fine my levels were good and I got to listen to the little heart beat and when she put the Doppler on my belly and found the heartbeat the baby ran lol and then when she found it again the baby kicked it twice and it was so cute cause I could feel it kick which was a first for me I'm 14w6 and then we also heard it kick it too lol so now she thinks its gonna be a boy cause its stubborn lol I so can't wait to find out 4 more weeks

  21. Mrs Music

    cherry / 209 posts

@Honeygold89: That's soo exciting... kicking already, sounds like your baby is a clever one, I thought that didn't happen for awhile.

My DH thinks its our peanut is a girl... if you go by the thing about how fast the heartbeat is... then its also a girl... I don't really care as long as its healthy and normal.

  22. Honeygold89

    nectarine / 2527 posts

@Mrs Music: I know it surprised me to feel it but I already knew my baby was active since our NT scan a few weeks ago when I got to see my baby flipping and kicking and moving those little arms everywhere lol. But I really don't know what it is at first I felt like it would be a girl but then it started to act stubborn along with everybody saying they think its a boy so idk DH doesn't even try to guess he's just happy that this one is happy which I am too it really doesn't matter to either of us.

Y'all. Sometimes I *think* I can feel something...like jello wiggling around below my belly button, and then sometimes I realize I am only feeling my heartbeat pulse. Argh. Can't wait to feel it for real!

  24. IcebergMom

    persimmon / 1295 posts

@citymouse: Im the same way. I think I feel flutters and then it's probably just my own belly being digest-y or my heartbeat. lol.

My husband brought home his doppler ultrasound thingy from his clinic the other night but couldn't find the heartbeat yet. We'll try again in a few days! Still just 13 weeks. Still early. Trying not to be anxious about it. My first ultrasound isn't until Sept 30. Loooong wait.

  25. Mrs Music

    cherry / 209 posts

@IcebergMom: wow that's a long wait. Make sure the place you're getting your ultrasound will give you photos or a cd. Maybe find out beforehand. I've had two ultrasounds and all I've got to show for it are some sneaky iPhone pics and x rays. My friends got photos and CDs so I'm feeling really cheated at the moment.

  26. artsyfartsy

    cantaloupe / 6692 posts

@citymouse: I think I'm feeling some movement too...just little wiggles. But I can't know for sure. It's probably just gas!

  27. artsyfartsy

    cantaloupe / 6692 posts

@Honeygold89: When I had my first ultrasound my LO didn't move at all. DH saw him/her wave but I missed it. Mine's probably a lazy sleepy baby!

  28. IcebergMom

    persimmon / 1295 posts

@Mrs Music: It's a Canadian thing/policy to wait until 18 weeks for an ultrasound unless of course you're high risk for some reason. and yes I can buy photos! $5 a pop! Probably the only cost for my whole pregnancy. Which is totally insane, I know.

  29. artsyfartsy

    cantaloupe / 6692 posts

@IcebergMom: Blah. I need to move to Canada. Our insurance said they will pay 80% of my maternity care (not including the hospital stay!!!) but I'm thinking they will actually stop paying soon because we had a lot of doctors visits earlier in the year when I got my anemia diagnosed and treated again.

    No fair!!!

  30. Honeygold89

    nectarine / 2527 posts

@Danizaur: yeah my baby is active even the other week at our nt scan at 12w5d the baby was moving everywhere and waving and kicking it was so tue but yesterday when she put the Doppler on my belly was the first time I actually felt it kick other than that I don't feel movement but I am so ready!

@SweetiePie: I'm glad to hear you are doing so well physically and emotionally! You sound like you're in a really good place and it makes me so happy to hear that!

@Mrs Music: Aw I'm sorry you didn't get photos that would have made me sad too, but at least you'll know to ask for the 20 week scan!

@SweetMamaM: How frustrating! It definitely sounds like a good idea getting on the books of a different midwife - you need to feel confident in the quality of care you're getting!

@IcebergMom: I socialized medicine. Our only out of pocket cost was for our optional NT scan. $165. That's it. Seriously love the medical system here in Australia (and Canada, NZ, the UK, and just about every other developed country in the world, barring the US). Whenever I tell people at home that we literally do not pay a thing for our healthcare, nor do we pay exorbitant taxes, nor do we have crazy waiting lists and subpar care, no one believes me. Yet, it's true and I love it!

@citymouse: @Danizaur: I thought I felt movements last week but now everything I'm feeling is just digestion I think! So hard to tell.

@Honeygold89: Glad to hear you got to feel the baby kick and hear the heartbeat! Very exciting!

I saw the OB this week and we're keeping my due date as the 4th of Feb, even though from my three scans (dating, a follow up due to measurements not lining up, and the NT scan), I've gotten three different due dates ranging from 27th Jan to 8th Feb! Regardless, the 4th of Feb works best for us as it won't hinder our Christmas travel plans - the earlier due date would have made things super complicated!

So now just chilling out at 16w 4d, still not looking pregnant at all, waiting for our upcoming trip to Bali in 2.5 weeks and then our anatomy scan the day after we get back (16th Sept). Oh and celebrating (?!!?) turning 34 tomorrow. Yikes, I love my 30s but they're going by kind of quickly! Slow down time, you're moving too fast!

@Danizaur: if only my gas felt like bubbles! Haha. They are usually stabbing pains, so Im crossing my fingers Ill be able to distinguish wiggly jello from possible baby movement soon!

@Ree723: wow, you do have a busy time ahead!

We're announcing tomorrow - even though the midwife debacle means we haven't got our combined screening results, I'm getting too tubby to keep it a secret for too much longer. It should all be fine. But I'm a little nervous! We'll be 14 weeks on Sunday though, have to start telling people some time!

@SweetMamaM: have fun. I announced mine today at work and am about to announce to friends tonight and Sunday at church. We haven't got our screening results yet either but whether it has downs or not isn't going to stop us having a baby so what's the point in me waiting?

  38. SweetMamaM

@Mrs Music: yeah, I figured the only devastating thing that could show up is one of the fatal trisomies and they are pretty rare and we would be devastated if that happened and need support anyway.

    persimmon / 1295 posts

@Ree723: i agree! i feel very fortunate to live where i live. @SweetMamaM: enjoy your announcements!
@Ree723: happy belated! i'm in the 30s club too! i told someone i was 31 the other day and then realized hours later i'm 32. haha.

we've pretty much announced to everyone. anyone we see in person gets the news. im not going to do a FB announcement for a few months.

anyone else getting back pain? i think its from heaving my 30 lb toddler around.

All I want to eat lately is soup. Even though its in the 80's here... I just want soup. Creamy, rich, hearty soup. So strange! I think its mostly because I am still gagging a lot throughout the day. Soup goes down easy and doesn't cause a fuss!
