@Ree723: I'm guessing at your ultrasound they tell you whether its anterior or posterior? My ultrasound technician never tells me jack (not to mention doesn't give pictures). I think I feel flutters at night time, but frankly I can't tell if its just my digestive system going or not.

@Ree723: Ahhh baby kicks!! I feel flutters occasionally but I can't wait for kicks!! So fun!

Has anyone purchased any baby gear yet? I bought this onesie yesterday, hehe. It's size 3-6 mos, though, so we won't use it immediately.

@erinpye: I'll be happy either way but if I had to choose, I'd preference another girl. I just love the idea of DD having a sister close in age (my sister is 13 months older than me and we've always been very close) and I absolutely love being momma to a little girl. I'm sure I will love having a boy just as much but I love having a daughter so much that it's hard for me to think it's possible to love a son that much. Have I mentioned that pregnancy hormones make me completely irrational in my line of thinking?!? I'm just hoping for healthy really!

@Mrs Music: I'm an avid researcher so when I had my scan, I asked for all the info I wanted to know. I don't think she would have told me otherwise, but I specifically asked for the location of the placenta (along with femur length, BPD, confirmation of choroids, diaphragm and stomach position etc). For me, the more information I have, the better. I'm sure it varies from place to place, but when I go in and immediately ask questions that show I know what I'm talking about, I find that I tend to get more technical information during the scan, which is exactly what I want. Also, yes, trying to distinguish between digestive bubbles and baby movements is extremely difficult in the early days! You'll get to a point though where it will be unmistakeable!

@MrsKoala: It IS fun! I can't wait for you to feel some baby kicks of your own - very soon now!

@ElbieKay: Too cute! I haven't purchased anything new for baby #2 yet but I have dragged out all of LO's stuff and am reorganizing it so I know what I have. I forgot how tiny all of it is! It's making me super excited about this next baby!

@Ree723: My only research has really been on hellobee... I would love to know what kind of questions you asked... did you have a list or you just knew it on the top of your head?

I haven't bought anything yet but my parents are going overseas to Asia and are planning to buy a silver anklet with bell. Its a tradition that when all of us were babies we wore a silver chain with a bell around our ankle... makes it easier to hear us (particularly when they start walking).

@Danizaur: yup, that definitely looks like a little peen! How exciting that you get to know already.
@Mrs Music: I feel badly for you that you haven't had a good ultrasound experience
@ElbieKay: that is hilarious! I love that onesie!
@Ree723: I agree - the more information, the better. My sonographer was amazing, and knowing I have an anterior placenta has meant I've felt far less worried about how long the midwife takes to find the heartbeat... Although in both cases, not that long!

The new midwife has been amazing! Asked me so many questions the others didn't even bother to.
I also got my screening results back - FINALLY! Extremely low risk across the board... Yay!

@ElbieKay: that's cute but me and DH started buying stuff the other week, we got some blankets and towels and wash cloths and that's when I picked my theme I'm going with lion king / jungle animals I've found the cutes lion king blanket and ducks and giraffe hooded towel with the wash cloths but for now that's it since I started classes this week DH has been home rearranging and getting started on clean out his man cave so til that's done we really have no where to put stuff plus I'm kind of waiting to find out the gender before buying too much stuff oh I'm so excited!!!

@SweetMamaM: that's great your appt and MW was way better and your results were good

@Danizaur: Hooray for baby boy Danizaur!!!

@ElbieKay: Cute onesie. i haven't bought anything new for our new LO yet! I've been too anxious about the first trimester. But now that the heartbeat is strong and baby is really "in there" (i know, i'm ridiculous) I'm warming up to the idea of starting to buy!!!

@ElbieKay: I bought a cute little Teddy Bear the other day which is perfect for a baby's hands but that's it so far. We were gifted a Pottery Barn crib and changing table through my sister's boyfriends family as they are done with kids. Otherwise, we don't have anything. I am starting to think about putting my registry together, though. And we have picked our stroller/car seat combo.

@Danizaur: Wow!! Congrats on a boy! That is simply amazing to see so early. Its unmistakeable though!

@Ree723: I'd love to get a list of questions too!! Our 20 Week scan is coming up on Sept 24th, and I want all the info I can get as it will be our last US (FX at least, more US would mean there is something wrong!)

@ElbieKay: We bought a set of onesies from Carters around 10 Weeks, and a pair of overalls to gift to DH's parents to tell them the news, and we have a onesie from here (http://locallygrownclothing.com/shop/category/infants/) that we used to share with the online world. I saw the one from our state ages ago, long before we were pregnant, and bookmarked it because I thought it was so cute/quirky.

By the time I check the board I'm so behind in posts!! I don't know how to catch up with them all!

Thank you all for the congrats! It still hasn't set in that its a BOY yet! I wrote his name today and I was like...Whoa!

I've been definitely feeling baby flutters. I'm pretty sure I felt a good kick last night too! He's a mover!

I haven't bought any baby gear yet. I'm trying to talk my husband into going shopping this weekend.

I need to get a list of questions for my next US too. I guess I'm glad they don't say anything because everything is looking good...but there's so much stuff I'm left wondering.

Hope I'm caught up now. Probably not!

This board moves way to fast for me, popping in to say hi to y'all! We are having another girl according to our fetal blood work! I am so excited that I don't need to buy new clothing for her lol...middle child already!

@ElbieKay: Yup! My Mum bought us a little onsie with a lobster and an American flag embroidered on it - she somehow found it in the UK (we live in Maine so it's very appropriate); and it was my DH's birthday today...I could not resist gifting a "Future Dr" onsie in his favourite colour (he's a third year med student and on long shift clinical rotations right now - I figure it will give him something to focus on and remind him why he's going through all that misery - even though Student-Dr Daddy doesn't care if little one is a doctor, a lawyer or a garbage collector - so long as they're happy.) I'm struggling to resist a "Made in America from British parts" one too. Arrgh, so much cuteness out there! But we're only 14 weeks so resistance is perhaps futile...but sensible.

@OldEnglandMama: Aww that's sweet. My hubby is a recent med school/residency grad!! It's hard! We had
Our first LO while he was still in his residency! He was consistently being sent to different communities and hospitals to learn. So much better now that he's in his own clinic and controls his own schedule!

@IcebergMom: I am very much looking forward to post-residency life! We are a long way off from that yet though In fact, I got laid off a few weeks back but have since been offered another (better) job...in Massachusetts. I will have to move and leave DH in Maine (which seems crazy with a baby on the way) but then when you think about 4th year and all those away rotations it doesn't seem like such a terrible idea. Plus MA is great for residency options (if we get lucky on the match).

So since being pregnant (16+3) I have lost five pounds and both my MW and high risk doc are happy and keep telling me that's good because gaining too much can lead to some problems but now finally that the throwing up and nausea have started to slow down a bit I definitely find my appetite pick up more but it scares me a little because neither want me to go over 15 pounds this pregnancy and with how hungry I've been getting and how often I'm scared I might go over that.

  23. SweetMamaM

    pear / 1743 posts

@Honeygold89: I know how you feel. I've been struggling with my body shape coming into this pregnancy. I lost seventeen kilos last year and had put on a little bit after my mother passed away last year. At fifteen weeks I haven't put on any weight - my midwife is not concerned at all. On the other hand, I don't have a cute bump, I feel like my belly button "dent" makes it look like two unsightly fat rolls. I want to put on weight so that I have a cute bump but I don't want to exceed my previous heaviest weight during this pregnancy. I'm so confused with myself right now.

@SweetMamaM: yeah it's crazy cause I don't have a cute bump either and want one so bad lol. And sorry about your mom passing away last year

been abit quiet the last few days here...

I've been tracking my weight gain and I think I gain 1 kg (about 2.2 pounds) every 2-3 weeks. Hard to tell if this is good or bad.. probably not great cos I haven't been exercising... is everyone else happy with how they've been tracking?

  26. SweetMamaM

    pear / 1743 posts

@Mrs Music: I think last time I checked, I'd gained weight for the first time at 14 weeks, about 600g in a week and a half. I was also a little constipated though, so who knows. I really only want to gain another 7 kilos in the next 25 weeks... I'm hoping that's realistic, but I don't know.

  27. Ree723

    grapefruit / 4819 posts

@Mrs Music: My weight comes on in spurts - I won't gain anything for several weeks and then will gain two to three kilos (5-7 lbs) pretty much overnight. Currently, I am 4 kg (9 lbs) up from my pre-preg weight at 18.5 weeks. Sometimes the scale jumps up another kilo but until it stays consistently at a particular number, I don't count it (ie yesterday morning it said 66.3 kg, but then today it said 65.1, so until it consistently stays at 66, I'm considering my weight to be 65 if that makes sense).

I looked at my weight gain chart with LO and I did the exact same thing that time too - just big leaps instead of a steady increase. I gained 32 lbs with her (15 kg) which was spot on target. Hoping for the same this time!

On a related note, my belly has popped this week - not in a cute, oh look at the baby bump kind of way, but in the yikes, lay off the chips kind of way! This is my least favourite stage and I am looking forward to a proper bump emerging soon I hope! I have also officially had to retire my first two pairs of shorts as they are no longer comfortable. Not in maternity clothes yet, but I'm starting the downward spiral out of my regular clothes....sigh.

I don't weigh myself at home at all. I just worked my butt off over the winter last year to lose 15 pounds and I just can't make myself look. I only check when I go to the doctor. I started out at 128 and at my last appointment I was at 137. I'll be 16 weeks on Friday. I think 9 pounds is an ok weight gain. But 16 more pounds left for the rest of the pregnancy (if i stay at the low end of the healthy gain scale) doesnt seem like much to work with. I was at a normal BMI when I got pregnant. Even though I know baby wants me to gain weight it's giving me some anxiety about putting weight back on after I worked so hard to get it off.

    Seems silly I know.

I barely had any morning sickness so I definitely didn't lose any weight and I ate ok. Now that I'm in the 2nd trimester I'm eating like a horse!!

Popping in to see how the second trimester is suiting everyone! I'm feeling great. Just got back from a much needed mini vacation. I'm experiencing some RLP and feeling him move more and more! I haven't had that moment where I'm like "OMG! I just felt the baby!" Still just little bubbles. Waiting on that big kick that makes it for real!
This thread has been quiet recently so I take that as good news!

@Danizaur: Yay for feeling great! I have felt good for the past two days so I'm hoping that it sticks around! I have even been able to eat! I also started feeling kicks on Thursday and I love it so much!!

@Danizaur: I've been feeling the same popping feelings mostly at night right before bed and earlier today I was laying kinda on my stomach but not all the way and baby definitely gave good kick so I turned on my back but didn't feel it again feisty lol. I'm ready for DH to be able to feel them now and my bump has definitely started to pop more you can tell its a baby bump and not just ft now I noticed it last Sunday

  32. SweetMamaM

@Danizaur: it's definitely been better but I am already struggling with baby brain! It's making my job as a teacher infinitely harder and I cannot wait til mid-December and summer break!

I haven't felt any movements yet (16 weeks), and with my first I had an anterior placenta and didn't feel anything until 20ish weeks. I wonder if that's what I have again.

@Danizaur: Feeling pretty good. A little more energy. Started gaining the weight back that I lost, and definitely getting enough of a pudge to justify stretchy pants now! (No cute bump yet - though my dad was convinced he could see one on skype the other day (I think it was just the cut of the dress I was wearing :/).

I *think* I felt movement when I was lying on my belly on the beach last Wednesday - "roll over Mum - I need some space in here!"...but maybe it was just my lunch

@Danizaur: That's great that you're feeling regular kicks! Such an exciting time! My LO has been kicking quite a bit - good proper kicks that DH can feel, several times per day. I still love it and DH's face lights up when he feels it as well!

@mrskoala: So happy to hear you're feeling better!! Touching wood the feeling good is here to stay!

We have our 20 week scan Wednesday week (the 18th) and I can't wait! We're still TG, so no gender announcements coming, but still excited nonetheless! I'm 19w2d now, so almost at that halfway point!

Still no cute bump yet, just that 'too many chips' look still, but I'll try to take a pic tomorrow anyway and post it. We're on holiday in Bali this week so not great timing to be at this crappy in between stage, but I'm trying not to worry about it! I'm just trying to relax (as much as one can when travelling to a developing country with a 14 month old!) and enjoy time as a little family of three before the next one comes along!

Glad to hear everyone else is doing well!
