LO's movements have become out of control! In a good way. Still not painful...just scary sometimes at how much he can move my stomach. It's fun to sit and feel and watch.
I'm also pretty sure he's still head down. It felt like his feet were right back where they used to be, at the top of my belly, kicking away today. I'm hoping so!
Sleeping is a joke! I'm up at least twice a night to pee and never falling into a deep sleep because I constantly have to change positions. I haven't had any leg cramps since the last time I posted so yay!!! At least there's that. I've eaten bananas and made sure to stay hydrated and not to tense my legs up when I'm laying down.
We will be heading back home in a couple of days. It's a 16 hour drive total but we are breaking it up over 2 days. The straight shot ride down here in a car was a nightmare I wasn't expecting.
Doctors appointment in about a week for a check up and then 2 weeks after that for my last ultrasound!! Then christmas, maternity pictures, baby shower, and then LO will be here. Whoa!

@Danizaur: LO has been more aggressively active these last few weeks, too. She's always bumped around in there, but I can sure tell she's getting stronger. Oof! Despite the party she was having this afternoon, we still managed to get plenty of 3D ultrasound pictures. Yay!

@indi: Yay!!! I can't wait to get mine!!
Also I got leg cramps in both legs at the same time last night after I posted that. Lol!! They weren't bad though.

Y'all. This baby is transverse and it HURTS! The baby just pushes on me from both sides, and my right side is so sore. I literally yelp in pain multiple times a day.

Super late in the pregnancy for this to happen but hubby felt his first definitive kick yesterday! Baby tends to be very chill when he puts his hand on my tummy but was booting up an absolute storm at the birthday party we were at yesterday... It was nice for him to feel something other than a "oh that might have been a kick".

@SweetMamaM: How exciting! One of my favorite things is DH getting to feel his movements too.

@SweetMamaM: yay that's the best part to see the look in DH eyes when he gets to feel his son move melting

I love it when they move!
I spent all of yesterday watching my baby move around my belly... I call it "making my belly look like jelly" cos she just makes my stomach wobble around when she moves...
Aside from all the pains this has been a wonderful pregnancy, and it is always interesting to note who the people you thought would be the most supportive turn out to be the worst. (I'm looking at you DH "best friend")
cantaloupe / 6692 posts
@Mrs Music: Yeah I've definitely had a great pregnancy experience. Third trimester is hitting me hard but it's so worth it to prepare for this little baby and see him move and get all the excitement.
Your DH's best friend hasn't been supportive?
cherry / 209 posts
@Danizaur: I don't think he's deliberately being unsupportive... he's just... not very switched on.
Today he sat in the seat of the guy who's bo I can't stand (especially with my sensitive pregnant nose) so now that guy is sitting next to me.
It's just little things like that... not offering to help carry stuff, not asking how I am. Other people show more concern and I guess I expected that my husband's best friend would be one of the people who would show the most concern and care.

@SweetMamaM: How fun!! It is exciting when SOs can finally feel definitive kicks! Our LO is being a bit cheeky - he/she will be moving all over the place and as soon as daddy tries to feel, it stops! Just like what DD did....and she's a total mama's girl, so hopefully that doesn't mean the same for this one. Not that I mind, but I'd like for DH to have one that is all about him!
@citymouse: Ouch! I hope baby has moved out of the transverse position or does so very soon. It's tight enough with LO laying head down, I can only imagine the discomfort from it being all stretched out!
@Mrs Music: Honestly, men are clueless about this kind of stuff unless they are already a father. I wouldn't get upset about it - he probably just has no idea about the sensitivity to smell and doesn't know if it's appropriate to ask how you're feeling every time he sees you etc. Even if he is your DH's best friend, I still wouldn't expect him to be super supportive, mainly for the fact that I would guess he just doesn't know how to be. Try not to read into it and if you need or want something from him, just ask, I'm sure he'd appreciate the direct communication and some direction on how he is supposed to act.

@Ree723: tried that... given up... cannot be bothered to deal with him... I don't need people like that around my kid.
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
@SweetMamaM: Yay that your husband got to feel it! My kiddo is shy around others so whenever someone puts their hand on my belly to feel it, baby just freezes and does nothing. Luckily, my husband is the exception to that.
@Mrs Music: Boo to his best friend. Guys can be weird about the pregnancy thing, for sure.
pear / 1739 posts
@citymouse: I know your pain. LO keeps flipping around laying in tranverse for a while and stretching out just enough to get both of my ribs and make me almost cry.
Other than him flipping constantly I have no complaints. DD woke up with pink eye this morning so taking her to the drs in a few. my poor girl. Both eyes were sealed shut. I felt so bad for her

@Ree723: Ive been doing some of the spinning babies body work, and placing my warm hands where I want the babe to kick. I was pressing against the kicks that were hurting, which I think encouraged MORE kicking. So I moved my hands to the center and left side of my belly and that has really helped! Well see!
persimmon / 1116 posts
@littleblessings: YES. Its hard to explain to people who haven't felt it. It HURTS. FX that our babes figure it out asap!

After yesterday's leakage incident I couldn't sleep last night cos my nipple was so painful... is there anything I can use for it? I'm not sure whether the normal nipple creams are appropriate since its not cracked and I haven't been breastfeeding yet!
cantaloupe / 6692 posts
@Mrs Music: Is it like a raw feeling? I get that occasionally but assume its sensitivity. I don't put anything on it. I just go braless whenever possible.
clementine / 984 posts
Haven't caught up w/ the thread yet, but I saw your post, @Mrs Music:, and wanted to chime in that I agree w/ @Danizaur:. The minute I come home, the bra is OFF (and shirt, too, if it's just me or DH and me). And if you leak some more, I've found that using the milk on your nipples (rather than some cream) works wonders. But that may be a bit too nudist/hippie for ya, so take it as you will.
pear / 1743 posts
@Mrs Music: Weleda nipple cream is encouraged for use in pregnancy if you can get your hands on some.
Updates galore from me: midwife appointment today. I don't have gestational diabetes - yay! Baby is presenting head down and ROA so no posterior baby at this stage - double yay! Low mama weight gain (still not hit my fattest weight) - yay - I know that not everyone is in the same boat but I was overweight at the start of the pregnancy so I'm a bit cautious about carefree weight gain. The only boo is that fundal height is not quite where the midwife would like it, so have a growth scan booked in for the 23rd. Hope it is just my super-awesome ab muscles hiding bebe!
cherry / 209 posts
@Danizaur: I am totally braless at home... however that's not really acceptable at work.. I wasn't wearing one in bed and it was still hurting as it was rubbing against my tshirt... now the stupid breast pads I"m using to catch milk won't stay still in my dang bra! I don't really know how to describe it.. maybe raw... definitely sensitive and painful... the nipple is all swollen and hard...
@indi: I'm not due till the end of Feb so no milk to use on it.
@SweetMamaM: I put some lanisoh on it and last night some paw paw ointment which helped abit but still painful..
I bet it is your super ab muscles... lucky you... I weighed myself this morning as I start my 29th week today and EEK I'm 2kg above my recommended weight range.

Oh man, what a day! I just spent the better half of my afternoon in L&D because I clearly haven't yet learned how to walk properly. I was on my way to my midwife appt around lunchtime, carrying my 23 lbs toddler, an overstuffed nappy bag, a water bottle, and a couple of DD's toys, when I slipped on some water near the lift in my building and took a nasty fall. Because my hands were full, I couldn't break my fall, and my first priority was protecting my daughter, so I fell at a funny angle, but mostly landed on my hip and backside. It actually didn't hurt but that might have just been the adrenaline as I was so freaked out about hurting my toddler (she was perfectly fine, didn't even appear fussed). It was only once we got in the car that I started thinking about the baby, and then of course the whole way to my appt, there was no movement from the baby. Not overly alarming as it tends to be pretty quiet during the middle of the day, but I thought I better mention it at my appt anyway.
So I told the antenatal clinic midwife and since she could hear a nice strong heartbeat, she wasn't overly fussed but said that just to be safe, she was going to send me down to L&D to be monitored on the CTG (monitors heart rate and any uterine contractions). She had said it would take 20-30 minutes, which was ok - a bit challenging with a hungry toddler who is almost due for lunch, but so be it. Well, I got to L&D and it turns out that the CTG is FOUR HOURS!!!! I actually got teary eyed and was wondering what on earth I was going to do with my LO for four hours and how was she going to eat? I knew the baby was fine and was really mad at myself for even mentioning my fall but too late now. Anyway, I called DH who left work immediately, but he was still an hour away, and I called one of our friends who lives nearby to see if she could come grab LO but she wasn't answering. Fortunately, the midwives were all lovely and with their help, we got the room baby proofed and my LO was able to wander and explore, which kept her extremely happy.
We started the CTG and the midwife could pretty much tell right away that everything was fine. After ten minutes, she said it was the best CTG she had ever seen and she was confident the baby was fine. Given that, she was going to go find the registrar to see if we could just knock it down to a 30 minute CTG and then go. Of course the registrar had to come do her own check, then she had to take it to the obstetrician, who then had to take it to the head OB for approval.....all in all, it was a bit of a convoluted process, but DH showed up just as the first OB was taking the monitors off and waiting for approval from his superior. We finally got the all clear to leave about 3.5 hours after arriving at the hospital (including my regularly scheduled antenatal appt at the start) but my DD was an absolute angel the entire time. Despite being hungry and tired, and me not being able to get off the bed to tend to her, she was absolutely perfect. I don't know what I would have done if she had been a terror! Anyway, all is fine and the upshot is that I got to check out the delivery suites - very happy with them and feeling quite confident about giving birth there!
And in other good news, I officially found out I passed my glucose test with flying colours and my vitamins with iron are really helping as my iron levels are great! My next appt should be in two weeks but because we're travelling over the holidays and everything looks good, we're just going to wait until the new year for my next appt, nearly four weeks away! Crazy that at that appt, I'll be nearly full term as I'll be 36 weeks.
Anyway, this was super long - sorry about that! Hope everyone else is doing well!

@SweetMamaM: Such good news on lots of fronts! Im sure the baby is growing fine and hope the growth scan goes well!
@Ree723: Awh, what a stressful/annoying afternoon. But, what a blessing that your DD was so happy! Glad everything is okay
persimmon / 1116 posts
Had an appt today, everything went great! Fundal Height measuring on track, baby's heartbeat is doing great.
I am 31 weeks and was supposed to do my Glucose at my 28 week appt, but due to some complications that ended up being nothing, thank goodness!!!, we weren't able to. Im a little nervous about getting a false positive since its 3 weeks later than when they like to do the test. FX that everything turns out fine. I will be pretty irritated if I have to do the 3 hr test. My weight gain is great (about 18 lbs) so its unlikely that it would be positive, right? I guess we'll see!
Also got my T-dap booster. Definitely feeling poked and prodded today!
cantaloupe / 6692 posts
@Ree723: What a crazy story!! Sorry for all the stress but so glad it turned out okay.
@citymouse: Hopefully the results will turn out good. Your weight gain sounds great! I've gained 40+ so far and mine came back perfect.
Ugh. 40 pounds as of my last appointment. Could be much more now! I'm afraid to step on the scale. I haven't been eating the best or exercising but I honestly don't feel 40 pounds heavier. I definitely have a big belly and gained a little flab in my legs, arms, etc. but when I see the number 40 I don't feel that much heavier. I'm probably in denial.

Anybody get really good pics of LO? This is the best one I got. He looks like his daddy
persimmon / 1116 posts
@Danizaur: I hope so! Also, I needed to be about 15-20 lbs lighter when I got pregnant. Ill have that much extra to lose after birth!

@citymouse: Ugh. Sorry. I hope you pass this one and don't have GD.
pear / 1743 posts
@Ree723: what a scary situation! I'm glad you are all fine.
@citymouse: yay for everything being fine apart from the glucose! Did you do the non-fasting test too? I failed that and then passed the fasting with flying colours - my fasting levels were actually a little on the low side.
@Danizaur: I'm the opposite, I feel like such a whale, even though I've only put on about 12 lbs. I think it's because when I was at my fattest I was still a fat hourglass, if that makes sense. I've never had a huge amount of belly fat (my ass is another story) so I feel very ungainly now.
@littleblessings: we didn't get any good head shots at our 20 week scan - LO was being a total PITA. Your little one is so cute!
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
@Mrs Music: I've had an itchy feeling on mine and have been using Aquaphor on them every morning. It hasn't been that effective, unfortunately.
@SweetMamaM: Yay for no GD!
@Ree723: Oh man, what a rough day! So glad to hear that you and baby are fine after the fall and that DD was an angel while you were monitored.
@citymouse: I'm sorry that you didn't pass the 1 hour. I really hope that you pass the next one. It sucks that you have to do it.
@littleblessings: We haven't had an U/S in a long time so no good pics of baby.

@Ree723: omg glad you and baby are ok
@SweetMamaM: everything is most likely fine
@citymouse: aw hope Monday's test goes better
@littleblessings: aw how cute this was our best picture at 26w 5days he blocked his face but it was still so cute
