@erinpye: yay great news!
@indi: totally understand your fears about sick people - I have to drop in some paperwork into work (a high school) after baby is born and I'm terrified of LO getting germs while we are there. I don't think we'll be doing a long visit until after six week vaccinations.

@Danizaur: Awwww he is adorable. Waiting to see what H looks like. Next appointment is Jan 6th early in the morning. H has started to drop now. You can be dropped for a long time before labor officially starts though so I'm not worried. Got a birth day set for if H goes past the due date. Looking forward to that day. H will be here in 39 days or less. So nerve wracking to think about. Been having really good BH contractions. Ill have an update on Monday. =)

So I totally ruined my awesome 3D ultrasound pictures. I posted about it here.
http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/i-just-ruined-my-ultrasound-photos
Lame. I'm still angry at myself the day after.
Anyway...today is maternity pictures day! I'm excited because I love doing my hair and makeup but I'm not sure how I feel about getting pictures taken of me when I'm not feeling my prettiest. lol
We are doing an at home lifestyle shoot and DH thought it would be cheesy but my photographer and I showed him some example photos and now he's really looking forward to them. He likes the idea that they will be much more casual! I think I will be more comfortable too.

@Danizaur: Enjoy your photo shoot today. I know the pictures will end up gorgeous. I love maternity pics even though I have never had them done. I just think they are so cute!

@Danizaur: I posted on your other post. Good luck with the maternity shoot today! Ours is in a couple of weeks and I'm pretty nerve-wracked about that too. I don't feel attractive at all.

@Danizaur: I'm sorry about your U/S pics, but excited for your maternity pics! Share some of your favs with us when you get them back!
Excruciating false back labor kept me up most of the night. I've been instructed to pack my labor bag and head to triage if it happens again. I went into false labor for 2 weeks with DD1, but not this early, in fact she was evicted at 40w6d. I also never felt back labor like this until I was actually in true labor with DD1. 35w today, so I hope baby hangs in at least another couple of weeks. I'm remembering why I hated the end so much

Maternity shoot went awesome! I'm excited to see the pictures. She's gonna try and get a preview up tonight and I'll post a couple in a gold thread if she does. I hope they turn out good.

Haven't stopped by in a while: the end-of-semester and holidays got crazy, and then we started having labor scares! I spent an exciting New Year's Eve in an out of town to stop contractions...1 cm dialated, 60% effaced. They gave me brethine and were able to stop the contractions. Two days later started having fierce contractions again and they had progressed my cervix, yet slowly--2 cm & 80%. I was 2 cm and 80 still yesterday when I finally got back home and got to see my own doctor, thank goodness, but am on "couch potato rest" (not strict bedrest, but orders to take it easy: no work, no school) until 37 weeks (I'll be 36 tomorrow)--but if I go into labor before then, which is a strong possibility because I've been having regular contractions all day today (though not close together enough or strong enough to go in yet), they won't stop labor: eek! Definitely nervous and excited and just hoping our little lady will be healthy all at the same time!

@Danizaur: Gold thread. Then I can't see. =(
@ILoveLettie: Your little girl will be here before you know it. Been having false labor here and there too. My hospital won't deny me but they would just give me an IV, a shot and send me home. The shot makes me super jittery so I'm avoiding it at all costs. Not going to the hospital until for sure my water breaks or its my induction date. 38 more days =)

@ILoveLettie: wow! Does sound a little bit crazy for you... It's hard to believe we'll all be meeting our LOs soon!

@Honeygold89: @MrsKoala: He is totally the best! As of now, we've gotten the families to change their showers to Jan 26 and Feb 1. Pushing it up to the end, but I'd much prefer that over the alternative.
@SweetMamaM: Glad it's not just me! New babies are just so defenseless, and people can't help but hug them and snuggle them. No bueno!
@littleblessings: Ooh, what's your "for sure" date? Isn't it crazy that we're already getting to that point!?
@Danizaur: That's a bummer about the U/S pics, I hope they can pull them up for you again. But I *LOVE* your sneak peek photos already! You look fabulous!
@erinpye: @littleblessings: Oof! Here's wishing you both a nice, relaxing night of sleep. All LO is doing here is having a crazy dance party in there. Pre-labor contractions would make me batty!
@ILoveLettie: I'll be thinking of you! Hope little one can stay cozy a bit longer, but you know we're all excited to see pictures when she does make her grand arrival.
Had our photo shoot today and it was so much fun! We even braved the -40 wind chill to get 2 minutes worth of outdoor photos in the snow and trees. I hope one of them turns out or I'll be mad we spent any time out in that weather! Hahah.

@indi: Our for sure date is Feb 11th. Its mine and DH's 2 year anniversary. Can't believe how fast the time is flying by. Already got a membrane stripping and induction date. The membrane stripping will be Feb 10th the latest appointment the dr. has. As much as I would like to I don't think DH and I are going to have maternity photos done. DH is working all the time and then Im stranded at home cuz of the weather now.
DH told me not to even step foot outside. I did anyways. Since last night we have gotten a foot and a half of snow at my house. We are still scheduled for another 3 to 5 inches before morning. Looks like this mama may have to reschedule her appointment for tomorrow to Tuesday. Still hoping to be able to get down the roads for the appointment though. Its been too long.

@Danizaur: I hope you have some good luck tomorrow on getting copies of your 3d US.
@erinpye: I hope your LO hangs on a little longer too.
@ILoveLettie: I hope your LO waits a litte longer as well but yay for know the end is near.
@indi: yay for the shower those are good dates like you say compared to the alternative and I hope your pics turned out wonderful hope we get to see some. I'm so ready for our pics feb 1st I'm a little anxious cause I'm not sure what to wear.
@littleblessings: wow I'm honestly glad it doesn't snow here but yay feb is so close it's almost time!
So DH is such a man he put up the wall mount in the baby room so when we get the tv he'll just have to put it up we decided 32" will be good enough in there but now he thinks it should be bigger O-o and I'm like he's just a baby 32 is fine then he turns around and say well what about surround sound and I'm like no he's just a baby he won't need it lol idk why he would need all that it's not like he'll be able to use it DH just tickles me sometimes.
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
@ILoveLettie: Yikes! I'm glad that it stopped and hope labor doesn't start again until baby is a little more cooked and ready!!
@indi: I do not know how you went outside in that weather. The cold won't get to us until Tuesday and I am dreading it.
@Honeygold89: Hahaha that is too cute that he was contemplating surround sound for the baby. Oh man!
@littleblessings: If you do go tomorrow, drive safely! I had to cancel my weekly appointment on Friday due to the snow and they couldn't get me in again until the next Friday! There must be a lot of pregnant ladies this time of year.

Hi ladies! Happy new year! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and is staying warm! We've been visiting family for the past 2.5 weeks so I haven't been online much and therefore have lots of catching up to do...
@erinpye: I'm sorry you're experiencing false back labour, that sounds awful! Hoping baby hangs tight for a couple more weeks and all this pain now means an easy labour...
@ILoveLettie: Oh my! Sounds like your little girl is in a hurry to meet her mummy! Hoping she bakes for just a little bit longer.
@Danizaur: Your maternity photos are gorgeous! You'll love having those to look back on I'm sure!
@indi: So glad to hear the shower situation has worked out well! Also, you are incredibly brave - I don't think I'd be stepping foot outdoors in those temps! Hope the photos turn out well!
@littleblessings: I read your post as you already having had a membrane strip and was thinking holy cow, that's early! Then I read it again and realised you just have a date for it, lol! It must be nice to know you have a definite end date in sight.
@Honeygold89: Lol, husbands are too much sometimes!!! Yours sounds very sweet though and like he's going to be such a devoted daddy, ah bless.
So all is well here - just had my 35 week appt today (I'll be 36 weeks tomorrow) and baby is fully engaged. The midwife couldn't even feel the head at all because it's so low in the pelvis! She was shocked I'm not feeling any pressure or heaviness down there but so far so good. I'm also measuring five centimetres behind where I should be but again, the midwife wasn't concerned and attributes it possibly being due to the engagement of baby's head. The plus side of the baby having dropped is a significant reduction in reflux and heartburn!
Now that we are four weeks out from our due date, and knowing I could potentially go early, I'm starting to panic about getting things ready for the new baby. I need to get the car seat organised, portacot and change table set up in our room, pack a hospital bag, get out the newborn and 0-3 month clothes, organise the newborn essentials, and finalise child are arrangements for DD for whilst I'm in hospital! This has all snuck up on me very quickly....
Oh and DH and I have started the ball rolling on moving countries again so amongst the new baby chaos, we're researching jobs, houses, and the immigration process for the UK and US. Fortunately, we'll only have to do the immigration process for one person either way (he's a Brit and Aussie, I'm an American/almost Aussie, and our DD is an Aussie but eligible for citizenship in the UK and US as well) but it's still a convoluted process. He's applying for his dream job in the UK right now and if he gets it, heaven help us as we'll be moving shortly after baby #2's arrival! Super exciting, especially as we both love the UK, but thinking about the actual process is enough to make my head spin!
Anyway, that's the news on my end, hope everyone is doing well!

@Ree723: So exciting!! I hope that he gets the dream job! It will be hectic but I'm sure it will be totally worth it. Where in the UK would you potentially live?

Ladies, I'm so effing tired. I am really lucky and haven't had a full week of work for the past three weeks due to the holidays and winter weather and I just do not want to be at work today. Sigh. In other news, we are doing all of our baby classes this week! Maternity hospital tour today after work, childbirth class tomorrow, and baby care class on Wednesday!
clementine / 984 posts
@Ree723: Good to see you again! Sounds crazy but adventurous, and very exciting! Here's hoping it all lines up as it should for you guys!
@MrsKoala: It must be babypalooza week, because we have 4 nights of classes, too! DH has a men-only dads' class on Tuesday night, we have breastfeeding class on Thurs (I like that they say dads are encouraged to attend!), and Lamaze Fri and Sat. These are all at a different hospital that lets everyone attend for free! Then next week I have moms-only BF class at our delivering hospital, and our official birth class/policy rundown/hospital tour is that Sat. DH is already complaining. Ha!
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
@indi: I love that your DH is going to a men's only class! We don't have anything like that here.
cantaloupe / 6692 posts
@MrsKoala: Me too! I've been sleeping better lately but I've hit another poor streak. Luckily I'm home and get to nap a lot during the day. It doesn't take much to tire me out anyway!
pear / 1743 posts
@MrsKoala: @Danizaur: me three, going through another bad sleep patch... Really peeved about it. I think it's just because I'm uncomfortable but my sleep is so broken!
@Ree723: good to hear that things are going well for you there... They say second babies engage later so maybe you won't go the full forty weeks! Would be nice in this weather! Good luck with DH's job application, even though it will mean you aren't one of my fellow antipodean bees anymore
@Honeygold89: your hubby is so funny! We don't even have a TV in our bedroom although we're contemplating getting a cheap one for our guest room in the new place so DH can play his violent video games LOL.
@littleblessings: I can't remember, is there a particular reason you are being induced?
Ladies, do you have any suspicions about the date your LOs will actually arrive? The number 17 keeps popping into my head... I hope it means that bebe comes on the 17th (6 days early) rather than a 17 hour labour!
cantaloupe / 6692 posts
@SweetMamaM: I was browsing online the other day and the date February 19th popped up on an article or something I was reading and I was like..."I think that's it!" It's 2 days before my due date. I just felt certain that would be the day so I'm interested to see if I'm right.
Plus there are a lot of 19th birthdays in my family and mine is on the 1st of June and DH is on the 18th of October so together they make 19. Lol
Also I've been having one braxton hicks contraction every day for the last three days. I thought I had been having them before, but now I know I'm having them and I doubt what I was feeling before now was contractions.
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
@SweetMamaM: I'm thinking February 6, which was my first due date until they changed it. Weirdly, I want baby to come on an even numbered day. Preferably 4 or 6. I have no idea why I feel that way.

@Ree723: Are you going to RDH or DPH hospital? I just found out that the public hospital I'm going to in Melbourne doesn't supply pretty much anything... must bring own pads, nappies, clothes etc.... my mum said that when we were born in Darwin they at least gave us clothes! The UK will be a drastic weather change from Darwin!!
@SweetMamaM: My mum and I are guessing the first week of March... she says 6-7th.
DH brought home his mum's u shaped pillow last night for me to use as a breastfeeding pillow... also slept with it in bed last night.. AMAZING... should have gotten it sooner!
pear / 1739 posts
@SweetMamaM: That's if I go past my due date. Its mine and DH's anniversary and it would make sure Im not in the hospital on Valentines day. My dr doesn't like you go make it to 41 weeks so we just planned it now since I went past my due date last time.
@Ree723: Well if he goes past the due date we definitely want to hold him for our anniversary.
@Danizaur: Yeah we are quite excited. Even DD seems excited but she is only 1 so idk quite how to judge that. She kisses my belly, rubs it and cuddles up to it to sleep. Its adorable.
@MrsKoala: The office called this morning and told me they would call tomorrow to reschedule my appointment. So no leaving the house today.
@Honeygold89: Aren't you lucky? lol! I hate the snow although I am praying for a snow storm for when this baby comes. Reason being I have someone that wants to be there, I don't have the heart to tell them no and they don't travel in bad weather
pear / 1743 posts
@littleblessings: oh that's quite different to New Zealand, they won't induce until 42 weeks unless medically necessary and they won't book you in until you are post-dates. Funny how different nations operate so differently! Here's hoping you don't need the induction
cantaloupe / 6692 posts
@SweetMamaM: Luckily my US doctor seems to have no interest in inducing me until 42 weeks. He said he may reconsider if my baby is measuring TOO big at 38 weeks but he didn't think that was probable. My baby is on the larger side so far but not too big. It was refreshing to hear and not what I was expecting him to say! I wanted to kiss him!
He mentioned if I went past my due date and was uncomfortable we could maybe work something out but I told him I wasn't interested in being induced unless it was medically necessary or beneficial.

@SweetMamaM: Isn't it crazy how different models of care are?!
@Danizaur: I'm having my "come to Jesus" talk with my Dr at my Thursday appointment. DH won't be there, but he's non-confrontational anyway (not that I'm expecting a confrontation, but he just hates asking for/advocating for anything for himself/us). I know my Dr knows I'm an educated hippie, but we're going to go through the full rundown of preferences, whether he likes it or not. I figure, if I have to be uncomfortable and get my strep B test, he has to be uncomfortable and discuss every darn thing I'd like while we're doing that lovely procedure. I'm not going to ask to take home my placenta or anything, but I will make him explain exactly why I need an IV if they feel the need to insist. "Let's talk about balls, Dr. Yoga balls, that is." Hah!

@MrsKoala: the funny thing about it is the way he is he'll probably still put it in there he loves that kind of stuff. Hope your tour went well and good you can get your classes out the way this week we had our basic care class in dec but now our childbirth classes start Thursday and will be taking them every Thursday night for the next four weeks and then finish up with our breastfeeding class on feb 6th.
@Ree723: thanks DH really is the best and so sweet. I hope your DH gets his dream job and I'm sure the move will go great for you guys and wonderful news about your appt it won't be long now I'm so excited for all of us to meet our babies.
@SweetMamaM: yeah DH is a electronic freak he want to put a 60 or 70" TV in the front room and take the 42 out of the bedroom and put it in the baby room and put a bigger one in the bed room which really puzzles me but that's what he likes so I let him have his toys he deserves it lol. I have no clue but I don't feel my baby will be late I think he'll be somewhat right on time or atleast I hope so.
@Mrs Music: pillows are the best that's the only way I get any sleep.
@littleblessings: lol I guess there's a bright side to the weather being bad after baby is born for you I already told DH I'll probably have to be the mean one and let a few people know I don't want to be bothered afterwards lol.
grapefruit / 4819 posts
@MrsKoala: Thanks! The job is in Berkshire (just west of London) and we'd be looking for a house in the Swindon area, right near the Cotswolds. It's a long shot for him to get it, especially with an ASAP starting date, but hey, you never know!
@SweetMamaM: Yes, I definitely wouldn't mind this baby coming sooner rather than later! The midwife wouldn't predict whether or not she thinks I'll go early but she did say she highly doubts I'll have to worry about having the induction talk (inductions here don't occur until ten days past due). Hoping she's right and hasn't just jinxed me! For some reason, 27 Jan is the date that keeps popping in my head for this baby but I guess we shall see....
@Mrs Music: I'll be at RDH and I was surprised to see that they provide some newborn stuff as well! DD was born at the Mater in Brisbane, an excellent hospital by all accounts (we LOVED it!) but they didn't provide anything for postpartum care or the newborn. I didn't mind as I wanted to use my stuff anyway, but I was a bit taken aback by it!
@indi: Lol, love the idea of having that talk whilst having your GBS test done! Definitely good to get answers to your questions ahead of time though and feel confident in the knowledge you have, rather than trying to sort through it whilst in labour! I had a talk with my MW yesterday as well about things that are important to me - ie, I do NOT want to be talked out of an epi, I had one last time and loved it, and definitely want it again, but I'm not sure how receptive she was to that. She just said 'oh a lot of times by the time a woman gets to the point where she's asking for it, she's nearly there anyway and can push through'. Umm, no. I want an epidural and want it as soon as possible after labour is fully underway. Ugh, I can see this being a battle but fortunately, DH is fully on my side and will go to bat for me to see that I get it when I want it!
@Mrs Music: I think pedicures and/or a lunch is a great idea! A little bit of bonding time and a very nice, always appreciated gesture!
clementine / 984 posts
@Ree723: Oof, I think that would be worse than where I'll be at (multiple requests if I want it when I'm trying to fight through without). I mean, if you want it, GET IT! Eesh! I'd be so mad if she denied it when you asked!
I was going to get ready for bed, but LO decided it'd be a great time to explore how far my uterus goes on the right side. Daaaaang, child!

1:17am and sitting up awake in the recliner because I can't sleep. I'm relatively comfortable...just that my nose is stuffed up and I can't breathe. When it DOES clear up, my sinuses are so dry it keeps me awake. Finally after tossing and turning so much and stirring DH I took my pillows and dog to the living room.
He will be upset when he notices I'm gone but I couldn't stand laying in that torturous bed for another minute!! Why won't my body let itself get some good sleep?
