@IcebergMom: Yay! I'm so glad you found it (what an odd place, though)!
Hospital bag is not packed. I'm lazy. I did write out everything I need for it, though... does that count? Haha!

@MrsKoala: I hope your BP settles soon! Headaches are the worst with pregnancy. Ugh!
@IcebergMom: Baaahaha, I'm so terrible. DH does understand now that we SHOULD have them packed, but on nights he's home we just want to hang out. We've declared the 25th "Baby Prep Day," though, so we'll be finishing the nursery, putting up her book shelves, washing tons of clothes for her, and packing our hospital bags and cleaning….well, that is the plan, anyway. Haha. COME ON, nesting instinct, WHERE ARE YOU!?

We are going on a major shopping trip to buy buy baby on Friday to get everything left on our registry. I've got my handy dandy coupons ready! Lol
After that I'm spending the next week getting it all put away and organized. At that point I'll be getting my hospital bag ready. When I hit 36 weeks on the 24th I plan to have absolutely everything ready. So we will see how that goes. Lol

@IcebergMom: hospital bag isn't packed and won't be until I go into labor.... Mainly bc I'm still using everything and if I forget anything DH can go home and grab it for me-he'll be picking LO up from daycare and sleeping (a full 8 hrs) at home!
clementine / 984 posts
@lavender: That's why we're not in a rush, either. We're literally 3 blocks from the hospital…if I need something, DH can run home to grab it. If he can't find it, I can FaceTime him and walk him through the house. LOL!

@lavender: @indi: Oh i'm so jealous of you guys being close to the hospital!! I'm 1.5 hrs away (winter driving!) so I have to have EVERYTHING!
@indi: Good idea. I'm working on a last-minute ikea order so I should declare an assembly day! I also need to wash out baby clothes and make a list of clothes I need. My LO was a summer baby so even if I have another girl there are going to be warmer pieces missing.
@MrsKoala: yes, it was a weird place. i was embarassed when the staff was like, "yep we found it in the underwear bin in the ladies aisle!" i remember my LO being super fussy when I was searching for post-baby undies so she must have shoved it in there at some point. Still missing: her two socks. haha.

Any second time moms getting huge diaper bags? I think I'll just reuse my Skip Hop Bento. I still like it.

I'm so glad everyone's been having wonderful baby showers! I love seeing the pics of everyone's gear - such cute stuff!
@math.nerd: congrats on the arrival of your little boy! Glad to hear he's doing well and I hope he's home soon!
@sweetmamam: so happy to hear the move is done, although I'm sorry your BP is elevated. Hopefully the unpacking isn't too bad and you start to feel settled in your new home soon!
@MrsKoala: I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your BP as well. Hopefully the extra monitoring shows that all is fine and no pre-e! Regardless, you're full term now so baby could be coming any day now!!! Exciting!
@icebergmom: oh my goodness, your LO is too funny (although I'm sure it wasn't funny at the time!). Glad your wallet is back safe and sound! As for the hospital bag, surprisingly I am all packed! We did it on the weekend as I just wanted it done and the suitcase is now sitting in the corner of our room. I just need to attach a post it note with the last minute things we need to grab and then we're ready! Last time we didn't have it packed until I was 39 weeks and then some, so doing well this time!
Is anyone else feeling completely over pregnancy now? I am 37+1 and officially want this baby OUT! I'm just tired of not feeling like myself and want to be able to snuggle and play with DD without this massive, hard as a rock bowling ball on my belly. I can't remember who mentioned feeling like Eeyore but that is totally me right now - just whingy and so ready to be done!
On the plus side, we got everything set up for the new baby this past weekend. The portacot is set up in our room, as is the change table with all the newborn gear, and everything has been washed and is ready to go! I keep telling this baby we're all ready for it now (minus the car seat which we pick up next Tuesday, but that could be done earlier if necessary) so really, it can feel free to show up any day now!

@IcebergMom: I just ordered a new diaper bag- the skip hop via messenger in green. I was carrying around a Vera Bradley diaper bag but I'm so over the flowery prints and DH HATED carrying it around- he had his own but never packed it and mine is always ready. So I got one that we both agreed on.
Heading to Ikea this weekend as well! Planning on picking up her dresser, a couple of bookshelves and frames. And hopefully we'll be done by this weekend.
Soo I just spent literally an hour on the phone with my insurance company and various home med supply companies about my breast pump. I was able to get a Ameda DE Purely Yours pump free from my insurance company. I already have the Medela PISA from LO, so I plan on leaving one at work so I don't have to lug it back and forth on the train. That was the worst when I was back at work pumping- all the bags.

@IcebergMom: I bought a Timi & Leslie Jessica bag in preparation and just started using it a few weeks ago. I LOVE it so much! I went through a number of smaller, cheaper bags with DD but finally took the plunge on buying a nice quality, bigger bag in anticipation of fitting stuff for a baby and toddler in there. I'm so glad I did as I think it will be perfect...

What's everyones plan for maternity leave? I plan on working till the end. My EDD is 2/21 and plan on working up until the 19th. I did that with #1 but this time around I am so DONE with work. Blaghh

@lavender: I've been off since 24 weeks! I would have been even if i wasn't pregnant. It's been nice but I miss adult time.

@Danizaur: Your job is seasonal right? Are you planning on going back to work or SAH?
cantaloupe / 6692 posts
@lavender: Yup! Seasonal. I'll be going back. Normally I would be going back March 15th, which is a month earlier than normal....because my superiors approved me to come back earlier because they were pleased with my work, but I won't be returning until may 1st to have some time off with the baby.
They rewarded me with an earlier start time and I went and got pregnant. Lol!! My boss doesn't mind though. He was just happy I decided to come back.

@Ree723: I'm both over it and not over it. Like I'm really looking forward to meeting my baby but also terrified of it. Super mixed feelings! I'm glad that you got everything set up and are all ready!
@lavender: Yay for the new pump and I'm doing the same working right up to the bitter end. I'm totally over working for sure. I just want to lay on the couch and watch bad movies all day.
clementine / 984 posts
@lavender: Same here. I just want to be hoooooome. Ugh. I'm getting an extra pump, too! I've got the PISA, and I'm thinking of getting the Freestyle so I've got one at home and the PISA for at work when I need to power-pump. I'll also get the hands-free single manual when I deliver, just to "top off" at the end of feedings without having to get the whole contraption set up.
@MrsKoala: Agreed. I am like, okay, 35 weeks, I'm feeling the weight and the heaviness and all that fun stuff. But I also want her to stay in as close to 40 as possible.
And while I'm super gung-ho for a natural, med-free birth (if possible, health and safety first, obviously), I am also becoming a bit more fearful of the realization that my cervix (and, therefore, vagina) will become the size of a bagel. A BAGEL! Hippie as it sounds, I need to be doing some positive thought process type of stuff when I start thinking this way, as fear/anxiety is a huge hinderance to going med-free. Time to bust out The Little Engine That Could: I think I can, I think I can, I think I can. LOL.
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
@indi: I feel the same way as you in terms of wanting med-free birth etc but still flabbergasted and terrified of actual delivery. We watched a med-free birth the other day in childbirth class and I was so overwhelmed by watching that baby crown that I was just like, nope, can't do that. Stay in baby. Stay in, forever.
persimmon / 1295 posts
@lavender: I'm SAHM with occasional office days working for my DH in his medical practice so I won't be taking advantage of mat leave. I'll just stay away from his office for a few months probably and go back to my 4-5 hours a week! lol.
With my first LO I took advantage of Canada's full year.

@indi: shhhh don't talk about the actual OUCH part
@MrsKoala: definitely stay in baby!!

@indi: @MrsKoala: I'm the complete opposite, I am all about the epidural. My first I labored for 8 hrs, pushed for 2 and on top of that got an episiotomy. I am just hoping for a shorter L&D and no episiotomy this time.

@indi: lol. i see you guys got Sophie the giraffe. DD loved it. perfect for teething. Only problem i had was that DD wanted to cuddle with it at night. She would roll over on top of it and make it squeak. Never bothered her. It always woke me up.
My bags are not packed yet for the hospital. Been too busy prepping to move. I too made a list of things I needed to pack but just haven't gotten around to it. Been cleaning and packing and everything. I feel that the "nesting" instinct has kicked in because I went through and washed all mine, DD and DS's clothes all over again before packing them. 13 loads total. My baby shower is Saturday so I will have even more to wash. Can't wait to see what we get though. Im having DD be a big part of everything so I am having her help open all the presents. =)

@indi: @MrsKoala: Lol I'm definitely med free birth all the way but I watched a birth video the other day and the woman happened to mention she had to get her big belly out of a little hole...and that resonated with me. I was just like, oh crap. What did I get myself into?

Hi ladies, I haven't checked in in forever. I've been following everyone but this pregnancy has been so stressful with all of the possible complications, I just feel as though I have been treading water. Things are generally fine. We are a bit concerned because the baby's growth keeps slowing down, as was predicted by my blood tests, but thank god it is happening now (almost 36 weeks) rather than two months ago. So thankful for that. We will be monitoring him very closely the next few weeks for any sign of placental malfunctioning.
I haven't yet packed my bags, although every night I say I am going to. It seems like a daunting task when I'd rather be on the couch. Other things to do are decide on whether we will do the cord blood storage, find some prints for our nursery, write our wills, oh, and name the baby. We are so behind! I am starting to freak out a little bit about the labor process but also about being a mother! I suppose all that is natural though.
Anyway, I am soooo over going to the doctor. We have had over 25 ultrasounds now. And each trip to the doctor takes us 4 hours--2 hours of travel time and 2 hours there. Today, the baby showed us he is getting weary of the ultrasounds too.

@raintreebee: So nice to hear from you and know that you and baby are doing okay. It is totally understandable to want to distance yourself from the thread just in case something went wrong but I'm am so so glad that everything seems to be going so well even with the growth issues going on now and that you are almost full term. That ultrasound photo is hilarious!

@IcebergMom: yay for finding your wallet. I have my bag packed and packed Lo's baby bag Monday but DH doesn't need a bag since we stay 5 minutes away from the hospital so he'll be able to come home and take care of his needs as needed.
@MrsKoala: sorry about your BP but good thing they're watching it and yay for being close to the end how exciting to know your LO can come any day now.
@indi: you got some nice stuff too things I wouldn't have even thought about.
@littleblessings: you'll be in you home soon.
@Ree723: I'm ready because I'm so excited but at the same time want baby to stay close to 40 weeks as possible.
@lavender: A second pump is a great idea. I'm not working but decided since baby will come in the middle of this semester I'll do better with online classes so I can still be home with him but I do plan on looking for a job around May and then maybe going back to campus classes for the fall semester in August.
@indi: @MrsKoala: @Danizaur: I so want to go med free as well so I just have been trying to prepare myself mentally for it but at the same time if it don't quite go that way I'll go with it as long as me and baby are fine but I'm honestly more scared of a c-section I hate the thought of being cut open bug I'm trying to prepare myself for that too especially if baby hasn't decided to turn back around yet so we'll see what they say tomorrow at my appt.
@raintreebee: aw that's funny he's actually flipping the bird lol but good that it didn't happen earlier and now baby is close to full term so I wish you and LO luck.

Headed to the hospital. On top of my consistent BH contractions I woke up to some pelvic pressure and back pain last night. Just went to the bathroom and noticed some spotting. Drs office wants me to go to L&D to be checked out. On our way now.
I'll update you all soon. Probably nothing to worry about though.

@raintreebee: your pic made me crack up.
@lavender: I have 11 days of work left yay! I've been working from home this week as this whole week the temperature has been over 40 degrees C. We are all melting.... I went to work on the first day of it and boy it was bad... so now working in my comfy aircon home and not having to fry in the train like everyone else.
@littleblessings: I hope I get sophie at my baby shower too! Mine's on Saturday!!
@Danizaur: I'm sure it will all be ok! Rest up!
I'm halfway between being totally over this and not wanting LO to come yet... I want to enjoy some mat leave before she arrives but at the same time she's starting to make me so uncomfortable I feel like saying 'Out out!!'

@MrsKoala: my hospital bag is only packed cause it made sense to do that when we were moving house. We're literally a ten minute drive from the birthing centre though so provided everything goes smoothly, DH can just duck home if needed.
@IcebergMom: @indi: we'll probably have an assembly day on Sunday. Once we get the bookcase and two cupboards in, we can probably call done on the moving side of things - I cannot wait! The nursery is actually the only room that is almost finished - just waiting on the rocking chair that is being refinished by my dad!
@raintreebee: glad to hear from you! My baby hates ultrasounds too, we haven't had a decent face pic since 12 weeks. We're having to get fortnightly growth scans too, but I can see the pattern, baby will barely grow for a week and then make up for it.
I had a midwife appointment yesterday and blood pressure has gone down - yay! However the bad news was that little one had turned breech - boo! I tried an at-home inversion last night and holy cow was it painful but I can't actually tell if it did the job. I keep on trying to feel my tummy but can't work out whether it is a head or butt I'm feeling. We have a scan already booked for the 21st so I figure I'll keep doing inversions til then and if baby is still breech I'll book in with my acupuncturist. We have two weeks to turn this baby before it's a hospital referral - send all your head down wishes this way. Seriously though, this baby has been cephalic presentation for weeks now, and at 35 weeks (and 2/5 engaged!) decides to turn? I may have called my baby an a-hole
cherry / 209 posts
@MrsKoala: Mine is mostly packed but I'll need to put more in as I go. We don't live too far from the hospital and I'll be there max 48 hours so shouldn't need too much.
@SweetMamaM: At my antenatal class they suggested sitting on a exercise ball with your legs wide on either side and leaning forward to help your baby move into the correct position, I'm trying this now... my baby is not in the correct position either I reckon but I'm not overly concerned now as long as she moves in the next few weeks. (I'm 34 weeks) Good luck!
nectarine / 2527 posts
@SweetMamaM: Yay for your house coming together and the BP being good. That's funny tho I felt the same way at my scan when I was 33 weeks and seen baby head down I almost panicked lol but today at my scan baby had turned back to the right position I'll be 36 weeks tomorrow so I hope you baby turns for you too.
@Mrs Music: hope your LO turns too.

I'm home from the hospital and kept my baby in my belly! They never explained the spotting but it never came back either. I was contracting regularly...like I could look at the monitor and anticipate my next contraction. But not dilating. They were about 1-2 minutes apart. They sent me home anyway because they weren't getting closer together or stronger. Just false labor! I'll probably continue to contract like this until I give birth. They've stopped being so regular now but I'm still having them. They checked all my labs and history which have been consistently clear and perfect this whole pregnancy and still were at the hospital.
They did say if I go into true labor they will go ahead and let me deliver even though I'm 35 weeks! That was crazy to hear! But I really feel like LO is here to stay for a while. Which is fine with me. Got a doctors appointment at 4:15!
pomegranate / 3706 posts
@SweetMamaM: mine was breech at my 32 week appointment, but at my 35 week had flipped. There's still time! Statistically only like 3 or 4% of babies don't flip to head down by labor, so odds are in your favor. Can you go swimming? Apparently that helps. I didn't have access to a pool, but sort of floated in the tub and I'm pretty sure that's the night baby flipped.

Called on the apartment today. Talked to maintenance. They told me that my apartment is ready and to call back Tuesday when the owner is in. They said there is no reason why I can't be moving in within the next week. Once I get those keys I will gladly have H anytime he wants to come. =)

Had my appointment today. Baby is head down but I think she'll flip around many times before labour (she's cheeky like that)... got told my blood pressure was abit low but they didn't seem overly concerned.
Baby shower tomorrow!

@Danizaur: Glad that all was okay and Babyzaur gets to cook a little longer!
@SweetMamaM: Uh oh! Turn back baby! I think there's still time up until 36 weeks for baby to turn again. Crossing my fingers that will happen!
@littleblessings: Great news!!
@Mrs Music: Sounds like a good appointment! Have fun at your shower tomorrow!
AFM, the baby's room is done!! Just need to actually take some pictures of it. I'm so happy that this project is OVER!
