February 2014 Babies!

    @Danizaur: Based on all of your comments I had assumed you were almost due. I didn't realize you still had three weeks to go! OMG! Hang in there!

    I found out yesterday that I am GBS+, blegh. Oh well. I guess if I had to choose a complication this is not the worst one, but I was hoping to avoid a hep lock.

    @icebergmom - I'm a VBAC candidate as well - will they induce you before 40 then? My OB/midwives will let me go up to 41 weeks but if labor would need to be induced, it sounds like I would have to have a repeat c-section....(I'm not sure what will happen b/c the OB and the midwives don't seem to be on the same page - so I'll just wait and see).

    @theknest: it was an interesting conversation for sure because he said there aren't any real guidelines for timing for post term vbacs. The cream is out of the picture for inducing a VBAC apparently (it can impact the scar somehow?) but perhaps I'll be on the drip if I go too much further than 40. Eh wouldn't say for sure only that he wants to keep an eye on me and my cervix (lol) and see how's it's ripening at 39 weeks. He's going to sweep membranes for sure then.

    Was it your OB or midwife who seemed more comfortable with a late VBAC?

    Grace my LO was 9 lbs exactly at 40+4 so I'm nervous about another big baby.

    @ElbieKay: I'm + too.

    @elbiekay & @icebergmom - haven't heard my results yet...but bummed for you guys - but you're right, it's not an awful complication - still stinks though.

    My first was 7.02 at 39 + 2 - so a BIG baby didn't really cross my mind, but yeah - I can see why it would be a concern, esp w/ a VBAC. Both my OB and Midwives seem ok with a late VBAC. However my OB seems to be anti-induction VBAC. The midwives mentioned the cream is a "no" but sounds like pitocin is ok. I'm curious how this will all play out in the end, however the end goal is always = Healthy Baby, Healthy Mom.

    @theknest: exactly. if i end up with a c section i am TOTALLY ok with it. in fact it would take away some of the vaginal birth fear! i had good experience, recovered well and have had no lasting difficulties from it.

    some of my friends are throwing me a "baby sprinkle" tonight!

    @MrsKoala: I did have a nice sprinkle. Thank you. lots of necessities like wipes and diapers and bath stuff. But also lots I gift cards for Some online shopping adventures.

    Happy February! Here's a snap of my frozen corner of the world. The harbour is even starting to freeze over. But it's beautiful and sunny today!

    TMI alert, but I think we are all passed that. Okay so I think I lost a bit of my mucus plug. When I wiped after going to the bathroom something made me look twice. I've been having a lot of discharge lately but this looked different. It was only a small amount so I can't be sure. Not bloody though. Hmm.

    Been in off and on prodromal labor since yesterday AM. Pain woke me up at 3:15 AM and I've been up since. I hate the end!

    It's our month, woohoo! I hope you ladies are all feeling decent/okay. I am just working on wrapping up as much little stuff as I can…I like to stay busy rather than just sit and wait, but there's not much to do anymore. LOL.

    @IcebergMom: Glad it was fun! I still have to write my thank yous from 3 weeks ago - I'm awful! That's one of my tasks for today.

    @Danizaur: @erinpye: Eeeep! I wonder how long it will be for our next Feb baby to get here.

    Yay for February! Can't wait to see whos next I hope its a TG mama

    @IcebergMom: Such a pretty view

    @Danizaur: We're way past the TMI stage here, but the parts of mines that I seen wasn't bloody either it was a clear yellowish color and when I told my MW at my last appt on wed she said that its not always bloody and sometime it just looks like someone blew their nose, I couldn't help but laugh at her, but that's really what mines looked like.

    @erinpye: aw poor mama I woke up 6 this morning with awful indigestion I had to sit up and stack pillows behind me to try and get some more rest.

    Me and DH took our pictures today but we won't get all the pics until feb. 12th

    @Honeygold89: Lol yup that's what it looked like! I haven't had any more though. I wish I knew when I was going to go into labor. Even if it was in three weeks I would just be glad I knew so I can stop labor sign obsessing!

    I had my GBS test on Thursday and go back on the 13th. Then down to appointments weekly. I have an u/s at next appointment to check weight and positioning.

    I'm coming down with a bad cold and on top of being so pregnant it's really brutal! I don't have a GP and not sure what I can take. Will prob call ob if it's worse by Monday.

    cantaloupe / 6692 posts

    @matador84: Yuck I had a cold too at this stage. My doc said Sudafed is fine for congestion. I take it just at night to get some sleep. Also there's a nasal spray called Sinus Buster that's a drug free alternative to clear your nasal passages. Safe for pregnant women! It burns for a little bit though but works for me.

    Whatever you do don't use a decongestant nose spray like Afrin. They're safe for pregnant women but they can cause a dependency...they work wonders but it causes your nasal cavity to swell when the medicine wears off causing even worse congestion. It happened to me. Now I'm dealing with the congestion left over from using it so much even though my cold is gone.

    @Danizaur: with mines I seen some on one day and then didn't see it again until a day or two later that was over a week ago but then I seen some today so its slowly going and I wish I knew too I'm so anxious and excited about it I'm just ready to meet N already but I'm only 12 days away from my due date so not long either way.

    @matador84: aw I hope you get better soon and find something that will help

    Such exciting times for everyone - we're all so close to the finish line! Come on February babies, we want to meet more of you!

    @lavender: Congrats on the arrival of your baby girl! I hope all is well and you are settling in nicely at home.

    @Danizaur: Your body just loves teasing you, doesn't it?! Hoping that all the false labour and discomfort means that your little one is on his way soon and it's a quick and easy delivery!

    @MrsKoala: Happy due date!!! Keeping my fingers crossed for a baby koala appearance today! I love the anticipation of hearing the "it's a _____!" announcement! I'm still sticking with Team Blue for you!

    @erinpye: Ugh, prodromal labour sounds awful. Hoping this means baby girl is coming soon and you can avoid being induced on Thursday!

    @IcebergMom: So glad to hear you had a nice sprinkle, such a kind gesture from your family and friends! That picture of the harbour makes me cold just looking at it but it is awfully pretty!

    @sweetmamam: How are you doing? All still ok with the BP?

    @Honeygold89: @indi: Both of you had gorgeous maternity photos - loved them! It's so nice to put faces to names after conversing all these months!

    Today (39+5) is the first day I've really been uncomfortable. Major groin pain and the entire lower half of my belly feels bruised and extremely sore; sitting down is fine but as soon as I get up, ouch! At my appt Friday, the midwife confirmed the baby is still fully engaged and ready to go....so come on little baby, time to come out! Just hoping for not tonight, as I want to watch the Super Bowl in the morning (Australia time), but before Friday as I don't want to miss the Opening Ceremony of the Olympics! Ha, clearly I have my priorities in line.....

    @Honeygold89: Oh I so hope your dream is right!!! There is still ummm... 15 hours left today... plenty of time to have a baby, right???

    @Ree723: Thank you! I'm similarly excited for you and your announcement! I'm thinking it's another girl for you. At the very least, I hope baby waits until tomorrow but comes before Friday!!

    @Ree723: blood pressure seems to be alright... Basically on home rest (not bed rest, but not allowed to exert myself at all) so here's hoping that keeps it down. It was interesting what you said about the pain... I was only 2/5 at last appointment but since last night, holy moley the pain! This little one feels like it is trying to fight it's way out and my pelvis feels like it is going to pop apart.

    41 wks today and omg, I'm so ready for this to be done. I was able to make it through church this morning and made some muffins. But now I'm pretty much stuck on the couch because I can't even handle the thought of getting up. I'm seriously counting down the hours until my appt tomorrow morning. Sigh.

    @SweetMamaM: YES to this! I feel like LO is wedged in my pelvis and pushing my hips apart. Literally. Not to mention all kinds of other pressures and pains down there from where he's so low.

    @abbydabbydoodlebug: Hope you have that baby soon!! Keep us updated.

    OMG you guys I was reading through the first few pages of our thread when we were all just finding out and having first appointments. I can remember how excited I was about the little pea in my belly! It felt like he was my little secret since no one could tell I was pregnant yet and I couldn't wait to show and find out what he was and to meet him.

    Now he has a name and I feel him violently attack my belly all day long and I'm so close to meeting him! I'm getting all nostalgic. Where did time go? Pregnancy has been annoying and painful but also so beautiful and full of love. Even though I'm ready for this to be over, I'm going to miss the whole journey. Every stage brought me so much joy.

    Okay I'm done with my sappy moment now!

    Cross your fingers for me that this means something but I've started having some blood-tinged mucusy discharge (where I've had almost none). Not enough to be my plug. But at least it might mean progress?

    @MrsKoala: Crossing my fingers!!

  34. Ree723

    grapefruit / 4819 posts

    @MrsKoala: Woohoo! Definitely a good sign! The bloody show means labour is imminent, usually within 24 hours, so I'd say Baby Koala is going to be here very, very soon! FWIW, I never noticed losing my plug at all with DD, but the day before she was born, I woke up to the tiniest amount of blood tinged mucus (tiny amount of blood I mean, about a pinhead sized drop) and it continued in that amount throughout the day. Contractions started that night and she was born the next day. I think this is the real deal for you, yay!!!

    On a similar note, I also had some blood tinged mucus today, but it was brown, not red, and I can't find anything definitive to tell me if brown blood counts as the bloody show or not. Regardless, it is now officially my due date (just past midnight here) and I hope this baby comes soon!

    @Ree723: You just gave me so much hope! Mine is brown/pink but I'm counting it because I have not had any kind of spotting the entire pregnancy. Hope that we are both experiencing the real deal here!

    @MrsKoala: I hope so! I'll be checking back obsessively for updates from you! And oh gosh, I hope this isn't a false alarm for you as I'd feel terrible if I got your hopes up erroneously!

    cantaloupe / 6869 posts

    @Ree723: Haha oh no worries about getting my hopes up! Honestly, at least something is happening. If that means labor today or Friday, we are making progress here and I can't be pregnant forever, can I?
