@Danizaur: I hope so either me or you. With all the false labor you've been having I really don't think you'll have much longer to wait. I have my fx for us both

@Honeygold89: I hope so! After last night I've resolved to not over analyze my possible labor signs. I'll know its real when I can't stand the pain anymore! Until that point I'm ignoring it all.

@Danizaur: I think that's the best way to go I told myself I wouldn't think about the contractions and cramps unless I can't take them, I realize I'm having a lot over a few hours, or my water breaks so I pretty much ignore them for now

@Honeygold89: Oh yeah if my water breaks too. Haha can't ignore that!

It's been quiet for 24 hrs in here! Are y'all having babies without me? Lol

    @erinpye: what a little cutie!
@IcebergMom: nope, still giant. Nothing much to say.

@IcebergMom: Haha nope. Still playing the waiting game.

I guess we are due for a lull after the baby explosion!

    nectarine / 2527 posts

@IcebergMom: nope I wish just been working on school work trying to get ahead just incase. Got one midterm done on Thursday and I'm taking the other one on Monday since my professor was nice enough to let me take it two week early. Other than that nothing much going on just waiting and still have little contractions here and there but nothing big so I don't think the membrane sweep helped. Oh and I lost a good size chunk of my plug this morning but things are still quiet this way.

  11. Honeygold89

    nectarine / 2527 posts

Oh yeah and everyone keeps calling/texting or when they see me or DH asking us did he come yet lol but I keep telling them he not due til next week and he's on his own time right now not ours

  12. indi

    clementine / 984 posts

@IcebergMom: nothing here. Although I have been spotting now since my check on Friday (just a dimple, not engaged) and maybe losing tiny bits of plug. No BH or anything, though, so we're thinking closer to due date than to tonight. With my baby shower tomorrow, that's just fine by me. DH and I want to get to 40 weeks, if possible.

DH and I have resorted to DTD to possibly get things going! I've been rejecting it this whole pregnancy because it's so uncomfortable...and I could only imagine trying it NOW!

But actually it was very nice and a lot better than previous tries. Go figure! So score for me. Even if it doesn't work, DH and I got a little bit closer.

    persimmon / 1295 posts

@Danizaur: aww thats nice. next up: spicy indian food or long walks around the neighbourhood?

@indi: I think i'll get to 40 weeks too. i did with my first... 40+4 days.

@Honeygold89: Everyone likes to tell me, "Oh you wont be long now! You won't last 40" Haha how do they know?

Here's my TMI of the morning...
Colostrum leaking little dribbles after shower this morning.

  15. artsyfartsy

    cantaloupe / 6692 posts

@IcebergMom: Everyone keeps telling me I won't make it til 40 either. But really, how do they know?? Most said I wouldn't make it til February just because I got so big. But look at me now!!

12 hours later and no signs of labor from DTD. Oh well! They say semen can soften the cervix and help get it ready for delivery, so I'll take that since I haven't had any cervical changes yet.

  16. Honeygold89

    nectarine / 2527 posts

@Danizaur: I've been doing the same and DH don't mind at all lol but yesterday I even tried walking for a long time but nothing so far.

@IcebergMom: I was hoping not to go pass 40 but I probably will but m and DH are just amazed at how many people tell us of ask us about him being here yet bug it's even funnier because it's people close to us and they act like we not going to tell them I'm in labor or he's been born lol I guess everybody just ready to meet him now.

  17. OldEnglandMama

    cherry / 212 posts

@Honeygold89: @Danizaur: Lol, DH is too exhausted to DTD unfortunately - stupid med school rotations. I've been trying everything else though - I've eaten more pineapples than I usually do in a year, spicy food whenever I can, long walks round the neighbourhood (including over snow banks), dancing with the cat (don't ask), yoga, and an osteopathic treatment from DH's current boss (who said my sacrum is now in position - ie moved back). Still nothing. <sigh>

@IcebergMom: I'm having the same TMI issue. That and I'm so ridiculously hot all the time. I've definitely "dropped" but no sign of a mucous plug or anything to that effect.

Unfortunately, we're going through a tough decision with our other cat (the one that doesn't like to dance). He's just been diagnosed with diabetes, which is treatable, but time consuming and expensive (not ideal with a newborn about to make an appearance). He's our first "baby" though. Don't know what the right thing to do is :'( So if human baby could wait a few more days that would be great so we can take care of furbaby.

    cantaloupe / 6692 posts

    @OldEnglandMama: Oh that's awful.

Furbabies are so special but can be such a hassle with a baby. Our dog is our baby but has a lot of medical problems. It's like, with all this baby stuff to take care of, it's the last thing you need. It's a hard decision to make.

That's why even though I love my dog and hope he lives a long time, we won't ever have another pet after him. It's fine when he was our only baby to take care of but I would rather focus all of our energy on our kids in the future.

    persimmon / 1295 posts

@OldEnglandMama: you know I listened to an interestin radio program about pet insurance a couple of days ago and what we pay for (some pets) medical bills. One guy had a great perspective (he was anti insurance and anti big vet bills)... He said (an I'm paraphrasing), "my job as a pet owner was to provide a safe and loving home so my animal wouldn't have to suffer or live a dangerous life in the wild. I shouldn't feel guilty that I can't or won't provided him with first class medical services. Just cause they exist we don't need to use them."

Don't feel guilty if you decide not to take on caring for a sick cat.

@OldEnglandMama: @Danizaur: Oh totally forgot spicy food can induce labour... thanks for the tip, another reason to not eat curry tonight for dinner... my mum would be so sad if LO came this week while she's away.

For your sakes though good luck!

Scarlett was born at 1:16 PM on 1/15! 7 lbs. and 1/2 an ounce and 18 1/2 inches long. She was 2 1/2 weeks early and extremely healthy! She's almost 4 weeks old now, breastfeeding like a champ, and beginning to sleep 4 hr stretches at night! Both her dad and I are so very in love.

@Springtime: Had your LO already dropped before they told you you were 3cm dilated? I have had no contractions yet but I've had cramps like period ones abit, usually in the morning when I'm lying in bed.

  33. OldEnglandMama

    cherry / 212 posts

    @ILoveLettie: Congratulations! What a cutie

I've been up more than half the night with contractions - that never got close enough together to warrant calling anyone, but were frequent and intense enough to keep me awake...and now they've gone away. <sigh> (No other signs of labour though.) So I'm off to work and have sent DH to clinic an hour away. Still hope baby comes today or tomorrow!

My parents are flying in on Thursday - in the middle of the snowstorm we're expecting. So, of course, baby will no doubt arrive when I need to pick them up from the airport

Update on the cat situation: The vet agreed to train us to do most of the testing ourselves. Since that keeps the cost down, we decided to give it a try. @IcebergMom: @Danizaur: I agree, as much as we love them, they are just animals. People come first. But, DH accused me of wanting to "murder" the cat when I suggested euthanasia at first (he's since come around - emotions were running high). We've agreed that if this becomes too hard to manage (financially or in terms of time), or (more importantly) the cat is really not enjoying being poked with needles twice a day, then we will reconsider our options. My parents being here for a while for the baby helps, since they'll help us with stabilising the cat and getting him on a schedule.

@Mrs Music: Haha, yes, in your case avoid the spicy food! Hope LO is still baking nicely.

I said I would stop labor sign spotting and obsessing but I've been making frequent trips to the bathroom since yesterday evening if you know what I mean!

Trying not to get to worked up but secretly being excited inside!

Also I had a dream last night I had my baby but I didn't see him for 5 days because he kept getting passed around to family members who wanted him and they didn't give him back! Haha!!

Congrats @ILoveLettie! She is precious - love the name too!

That sounds like an AWFUL dream @danizaur! I think I had similar dreams with my first!

I had my 38 week check yesterday - still only dilated to a 1. Was hoping for a little bit of progression. But there's still time.

  36. artsyfartsy

    cantaloupe / 6692 posts

Still having more bathroom trips!! I was convinced they wouldn't continue and it would just be a coincidence but they are. I'm really convinced this is a sign that labor is coming because it's definitely out of the ordinary for me.

  37. Springtime

    pomegranate / 3204 posts

@Danizaur: I hope this is it for you! I'm not having any other signs of labor coming, wahh!

@Mrs Music: Yes, I think she dropped around 35-36 weeks, I was 2 cm at 36 weeks. Definitely explains all the pain and pressure down there.

@OldEnglandMama: Hope things workout with your cat and baby will be right round the corner your body is getting ready now.

@Danizaur: lol at the picture. how's things going today

Im so ready for my appt tomorrow can't wait to see if we have anymore progress and if not talk about a to be induced

@Honeygold89: Good! I've been having some contractions and back pain but nothing to makemethink I'm in labor. Just hoping that its signs that labor is near!

Hope you get good news tomorrow! My appt is Thursday. Can't wait!

@Honeygold89: Thanks! Just had my 38 week appointment - 30% effaced, dilated to just 1 cm (booo). Now reclining on the sofa with said cat Fingers crossed for your appointment tomorrow.

@Danizaur: Love it. I adore racoons for some reason (I know they're considered pests here). I think it's partly because we don't have them in the UK and partly because they remind me of a cartoon I used to watch with my brother (I think it was Canadian?) - Bert and the Racoons. They were sort of eco-warriors in the woods. Anyhooo, hope your sign spotting is correct! We need another February baby, (I'm getting withdrawal after that glut of arrivals before).
