@indi: welcome and congrats
@mrs.halfsie: no problem and your right but after being so worried the first time around and winding up with a MC I decided its best for me and this baby not to stress or worry about every little thing

@citymouse: oh goodness, no need to apologise! I was just explaining why I hadn't posted an update yesterday, that's all!
@Honeygold89: thank you, you're a sweetheart and it's much appreciated!
So I did head back to the doctor today (my usual GP is on leave so I saw a different one) and my bloodwork is all looking really good; however, he wants me to have another scan to make sure everything is fine, especially in light of the fact that we did not see a fetal pole at the previous scan. My scan is scheduled for late tomorrow afternoon, so hopefully after that all will be looking good and we can finally start relaxing and enjoy this pregnancy!

Just heard back from my doc. Hcg was 1,318 on Tues, what i think was 4w6d. It's 10x higher than a week ago. Really helps to calm me but still need to see the little sucker on Monday before I can breath a sigh of relief

@indi: Congratulations and welcome!!
@Ree723: So glad that the bloodwork is coming back as positive! GL with the scan today!!!!
@raintreebee: Hope that your appointment goes well today!!!

@Ree723: @AuntieEm: Yay for great bloodwork!
@indi:Congrats!
So I had a six week ultrasound today (one of the few advantages of being an IVF patient) and everything went perfectly. The baby measured exactly, and we saw a strong heartbeat. I can't tell everyone how incredibly relieved I am. Also, I may be feeling a teensy bit sick--be careful what you wish for!
honeydew / 7463 posts
@raintreebee: alright! Congrats on your ultrasound success Did they print out a picture for you?
pear / 1531 posts
@AuntieEm: They didn't! Not sure why-I could have asked for one but forgot. It would have been pretty difficult to make anything out anyway, I suppose.
honeydew / 7463 posts
@raintreebee: Yeah, I got a print-out at my first appointment last time and really couldn't see anything, haha.
I was just saying to DH last night, every time I try to imagine what our baby might look like it makes me smile to myself!
So question for all of you: Do you think you will do 3d/4d ultrasounds? I'm hoping I can wait it out and be surprised on delivery
Also, are you all planning on finding out if you're having a boy/girl or waiting?
olive / 73 posts
@raintreebee congratulations at the ultrasound success!!
@auntieem I am most definitely uninterested in the 3D/4D ultrasounds pictures. For some reason they kind of creep me out, plus I tend to lean on the side of not wanting to know anything. We are Team Green (well I am trying to be, DH is). I think it is weird to know what the baby looks like before they are born. DH is into it only because he thinks the technology of it is cool, not because he cares about seeing what the baby looks like.

@AuntieEm: I had a 3D/4D ultrasound during my NT scan and a regular old ultrasound at 20 weeks w/#1, planning on doing the same with #2. I liked being surprised at birth to see how she turned out.
@raintreebee: so jealous, we have our first (dating) ultrasound next Friday.
@Ree723: so glad to hear that your pregnancy is going good so far!
I'm hoping for a boy (#1 is a girl) and will definitely be finding out.

Updates:
In NZ it's way more prevalent to have a midwife as you lead maternity carer. Due to some genetic abnormality issues in my family (not my own), I'll be shared care for the first trimester before being released solely to midwife care. I have my first doctor's appointment next Friday and then my first midwife appointment on the 1st of July. It all just seems so surreal, like I'm going to show up at the appointment and they'll be "you silly lady, you're not pregnant"!
Is anyone else only getting sore breasts at night? I feel like I can go through the day relatively fine but come evening - ouch!
nectarine / 2527 posts
@raintreebee:that's so good to hear I'm happy for you and your LO
@AuntieEm: those are good numbers unfortunately they won't even tell me what my numbers were from last week at my primary all they say is the ob they are referring me to will discuss it with me which like I said yesterday I just found me my own ob so me and DH are hoping we can get a good dating scan mon and do new blood work there and it will move much faster

Just made my first appointment, it's not until July 15th! I'll be exactly 8 weeks then! Such a long time to wait.
@AuntieEm: Undecided on 4d, we did it with my first and paid $100 out of pocket, it was exciting to see baby but kind of unnecessary. I'd rather skip it this time but might feel obligated since I did it with my first.
We will definitely be finding out the gender! I have a boy and really really REALLY want a girl!
nectarine / 2527 posts
@AuntieEm: I don't think we will do the 3d or 4d but we will definitely find out what we are having when the time comes

Anyone else LOOKING pregnant yet? I'm 5 weeks tomorrow and I already have a belly. I know it's bloat but geez! After a full day and eating dinner with DH, walking through the grocery store I finally stopped sucking it in and unbuttoned my jeans and owned it.
I'm excited to look pregnant, but now it's just a pretend bloat baby. Lol
Anyway I'm excited for my doctors appointment next Thursday. I wanted to use a midwife but lay midwifery (homebirthing) is illegal in my state and regulations keep midwives from being allowed to deliver in a hospital. Its so frustrating not having a choice in my maternity care. I've had a lot of recommendations for my doctor so I hope I will like him.

@Danizaur: totally understand on the looking pregnant! I'm not even 5 weeks yet and wondering when people are going to start noticing a belly when I'm still trying to keep it a secret!
persimmon / 1116 posts
@Danizaur: I have the bloat too! Sucking it in hurts so much. Im so glad to work from home and be able to wear loose clothing and not worry about it too much. Bummer about midwifery in your state!
@Springtime: Our appt is when we are 9 weeks along. We tried for earlier but their available appts didn't match up. 17 more days for us. We wish it was sooner!!
@SweetMamaM: I think that too. I just told DH tonight that I thought I wasnt pregnant and that I was just making it up in my head and causing my body to do things. Hahaha!
@AuntieEm: We are team GREEN!! Most definitely NOT finding out. Neither of us want to!
grapefruit / 4819 posts
Thanks ladies again for all the well wishes! I'll report back after this afternoon's scan and then hopefully can sit back and enjoy this pregnancy!
@raintreebee: yay for seeing a heartbeat and baby measuring perfectly on target!
@danziaur: That's a total bummer about the lack of midwives in your state! We pretty much only have midwives here in Australia, unless you go through the private system and choose to have an OB; we went public last time and will this time as well as socialized medicine means that we have a really excellent standard of care for absolutely no cost. I loved being under the care of midwives but I hope you like your new doc and are happy with him/her!
@AuntieEm: The last part of our NT scan was 3d/4d and I liked it but I wouldn't pay extra money to have it done. We didn't have the option for it at our 20 week scan and I wasn't going to book into a private clinic for an unnecessary scan, so we were surprised with what LO looked like at birth! We were also TG so everything was a surprise when she arrived! We'll be TG for this next baby as well.
Speaking of which, my little one turns ONE today! Sob, I can't believe this year has gone by so quickly! But in honour of my little bubby, I'm sharing a picture with all of you - less than 24 hrs old and now one year old!

@Ree723: Oh. My. Gosh. She is PRECIOUS! You and DH have some good genes
grapefruit / 4819 posts
@AuntieEm: thank you! We think she's a keeper!
So I just had my scan and we officially have a little baby in there! 7w3d with a heart rate of 164 bpm, which gives me a due date now of Feb 4th. I'm so relieved! I was seriously preparing for the worst but now it looks as though everything is going well! Thank you all for you kind words and positive thoughts over the past couple of weeks, it has really meant a lot!

@Ree723: yay, that is just the best news, my fellow antipodean! Big hugs! I'm actually ridiculously excited we get to be Feb mums together!

@mrs.halfsie: it's all new for me, so I'm glad to know it's not weird. In saying that, I seem to be a short-tempered cow most of the time LOL... Believe it or not, that's new!
@Danizaur: I'm five weeks on Sunday and had an interesting moment last night. I came home after DH last night and it's a bit of a tight squeeze to have both our cars in the garage. It's not usually an issue, I suck it in and squeeze through the small distance I can open the door. I almost couldn't squeeze last night! Couldn't suck it in at all! Heck knows what we're going to have to do in future... I'll have to leave the car outside and get hubby to park it if he's already inside!

@Ree723: awww she is such a cutie pie and yay!!!!! I knew your little bean would be ok I'm so happy you can sit back and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy
olive / 73 posts
@Danizaur: I was just thinking the same thing this morning. I have been trying to suck it in, but I found that I am having difficulty sucking in the lower part as opposed to the higher part of my abdomin. Pretty much means I need to start shopping so I can wear clothes that make me feel like I don't have to suck it in
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
@AuntieEm: We probably won't do the 3d/4d ultrasounds. And we are planning to be Team Green! I'm really psyched that it looks like we have a lot of Team Green-ers here!
@Danizaur: I was super bloated last week and I swear that I looked different but it's gone now. I'm tall with a super long torso so I think I was just imagining that the bloat was bigger than it really was. I probably won't show for FOREVER.
@Ree723: Aww Happy Birthday!! She's adorable!! And I'm so happy that everything looks great on your scan!! Hooray!

@Ree723: She is so cute! Happy birthday to her! I definitely cried on my LO's first birthday. It goes so fast! So glad to hear you had a good appointment and everything looks good with baby!

@SweetMamaM: Me too!! It will be nice to have another antipodean on here! Feb is going to be such a nice month to have a baby in NZ....not so much here in Darwin, but your weather should be perfect!
@Honeygold89: @AuntieEm: @MrsKoala: @Springtime: @citymouse: @indi: Thank you soooo much ladies! Can't tell you how much I have appreciated your support!

@Ree723: yeesh it's going to be a scorcher for you in Darwin! I'm hoping for another summer like we had this year - lots of sun, but not too humid or hot until March!
