@Smurfette: Haha! I didn't even know 24 weeks is the start of viability. Yay!

Is anyone already super uncomfortable? I'm starting to have restless sleep, plus those crazy dreams are back and I'm always wide awake after!

  2. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@snowjewelz: Not super uncomfortable. But I feel out of breathe a lot after climbing stairs, etc. I don't remember that this early last time. LO doesn't like it when I lay on my side to sleep, but too much still on my belly (I'm a belly sleeper) so it is harder to get comfortable at night. Beginning to think I need a maternity pillow and not just a body pillow. I also take 1/2 a unisom every night or I still have insomnia.

  3. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@Smurfette: I read that you're supposed to sleep on your left side, but I currently always sleep on my right side facing DD. I think I need to bust out the pregnancy pillow... DD is currently hogging my body pillow

  4. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@snowjewelz: I wonder why the left side? I sleep on whatever I can comfortable and switch multiple times a night.

    @Smurfette: Yay viability!

@snowjewelz: Yeah I have heard sleeping on the left side is the best position for blood flow and digestion. I usually try to start out on my left side, but sometimes my right side is more comfortable. I think what matters most is just staying off your back. Many times I wake up in my back though, I can't help it! I have a body pillow wedged under the belly with one leg cocked up and then I wedge another pillow behind my back to attempt to avoid rolling but it doesn't always work. I find myself waking up around 3 am a lot and not being able to go back to sleep.

  6. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@IRunForFun: Ugh nothing is comfortable! I think right side is comfortable for me b/c that's how I sleep most of the time so I'm used to it? I didn't have to use my pregnancy wedge till like 3rd trimester last time, but maybe I'll have to use it now... That helped more than any pillows!

I had a scan with MFM today. Everything looked good except they said I'm measuring about a week behind, BUT I think the due date they had in my chart was wrong. I have my due date as Jan. 25th, and they have it down as Jan. 19th. So I'm not surprised or worried that they think I'm a week behind because I'm pretty sure it's actually right on. I need to talk to the midwife about it.

Baby was moving a ton and some of it I still couldn't even feel, so I can't imagine what it's doing in there when I CAN feel it! Some ninja stuff or some shit. I got to see it sampling the amniotic fluid.

I go back every 4 weeks now. I really need to call insurance and see what the coverage for these scans is like...

  8. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@snowjewelz: I was always a right side sleeper too. I think either side is fine, really, maybe left side is just slightly "better." Who knows.

  9. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@IRunForFun: my doctor told me if you wake up on your back, don't stress about it. Just try and sleep on your side. Why are you getting so many scans again? And yes I really wish I could see what the heck she is doing in there since some movement is so strong!

  10. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@Smurfette: I have a blood clotting disorder so they want to check the placenta and fetal growth to make sure no clots form that affect nutrients/blood flow/oxygen to baby through the cord.

  11. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@IRunForFun: gotcha. At least you get to see the baby more! I'm excited to go back on the 14th to check and see if my placenta moved up cause we get to see her again and take LO to see baby sister. Watch she won't care.

  12. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@Smurfette: Yeah, I was a little bit worried that insurance wouldn't cover the scans but I just checked and it will, so now I don't mind all the extra peeks at baby! And hopefully DH will be able to come to one or two scans. I bet your DD will be excited to see her baby sister!

  13. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@IRunForFun: We haven't told her yet. She is already impatient for her to get her. I don't want to give her something else she has to wait for. Glad that the scans are covered by insurance!

  14. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@IRunForFun: Ugh I didn't even call mine about my "extra" scans b/c I'm switching insurance at the end of the month anyway. It's been a nightmare paying bills with my high deductible plan.

@snowjewelz: my sleep has been crap for weeks! I have my snoogle, but I wake up around 2-3 almost every night (unless i take unisom) and I'm awake for another hour or so before I can fall back asleep.

    @Smurfette: Viability, hoorah!

@snowjewelz: I'm still feeling pretty good! I actually am sleeping better than pre-pregnancy thanks to my snoogle. It's pretty much eliminated my neck and back pain, I'm never giving it up! Although "good" sleep for me is only waking up 5 or 6 times.

Hi all, just checking in a hello! Back from my 5 days away and my biggest off campus event of the year that I manage, I made it! Not without a hospital trip...cause you know...that's the way I roll, but just a story to add to the baby book now.

Event went great, a little hectic with the build of our booth and it was mega behind, but that's the joys of a convention centre loading dock and everyone was behind, so whatever. Friday night I watched survivor with DH on facetime from my hotel, and baby was moving around like crazy, I went to bed about 10 p.m. and 4:30 a.m. woke up flat out on my belly. I panicked! Orange juice, water, cold cups on my tummy, took a shower, and couldn't get her moving. 40 mins later I opted to take a cab to the hospital (had no idea where I was going, just told the cab to take me to nearest hospital!) and in I went. He dropped me off at wrong entrance and info man in hospital directed me to an entrance to L&D closed at that time in the morning so I swelled with tears just frustrated and lost. Once I got in the nurses and doctor's were amazing. Took great care of me and found her hb no problem. Did an u/s too just to make sure fluid levels and everything looked ok, she was again bent in half. Left me hooked up to monitors for a bit and by 7:30 I was back in my hotel room. My boss told me to stay in hotel for the day but I couldn't so sat in our backstage area all day and things went great the remainder of the weekend.

I have a scheduled appointment tomorrow, and have a bit of a list of questions I'd like to ask and then of course update her on my weekend! I only have one more big event between now and going off, and workload is pretty balanced the rest of the way through, thankfully!

26w tomorrow! Where is the time going!!!

So this hospital told me I have an anterior placenta though and that's why I couldn't feel her. I have been feeling movement since like 16/17w and while I have heard it talked about, I have never been told I have one (even that first anatomy scan in August they did an internal u/s to check placenta location). So that part doesn't really make sense, can it move to be anterior at this point?

  18. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@sunnyday: This baby likes to cause some drama huh! Maybe they just mentioned it was anterior. I asked my if I had one again. It isn't a big deal so it really doesn't matter. All that matters is that it isn't close to the cervix. Which mine was at 19 weeks. I go back for an ultrasound on the 14th to check it has moved.

I was just thinking I can't believe I am 25 weeks tomorrow. Pretty much only 3 months left, crazy! Isn't the 3rd trimester 27 weeks, that is two weeks away!

  19. Peasinapod

    clementine / 770 posts

@sunnyday: I think if it's anterior it was probably always anterior but as your uterus grows it can seem like it's moved picture a spot on a ballon the spot will seem like it's moved as the balloon is blow up , but it hasn't!

Also- I have an anterior placenta and feel movement a fair bit but I guess it depends on where she is for when I feel her.

I have a conference coming up in a few weeks out of province and it's actually one of my worries that something will go wrong while I am so far from my family and I'll be stuck there alone ....

  20. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

I had anterior last time, but she was also my first so I probably wasn't familiar with the movements. This time they didn't mention anything and I have felt movement earlier on, but this time I'm just more in tune with it!

    I. can't, breathe! I don't know if my lungs are just squished or something but I can sit still and still be out of breathe!

I can't believe how fast time is going by either! People think 2017 is so far away, but I'm like, not really!!

  21. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@sunnyday: Oh no, sorry you had that scare, but glad everything was OK! I have an anterior placenta and the only reason I know is I saw the tech type it and it appeared on the ultrasound screen when I was having my NT scan. At my anatomy scan I don't think the tech would have mentioned it but I asked and she confirmed it. I will say at 23 weeks I get hours-long stretches where I don't feel movement, and sometimes I think the baby moves into a position where it's more behind the placenta and harder to feel.

@Smurfette: I was just saying to DH that's it's crazy to have less than 4 months left! I'm starting to actually think more about the birth process and all of that! Plus we just moved and my sister gave us a bunch of baby stuff so it's so strange so actually have in the house.

@snowjewelz: I am getting out of breath pretty easily too. Not necessarily when sitting but just normal walking around.

Has anyone else been sick while pregnant yet? I caught a nasty cold and was sick for a week but I think it's winding down. Just coughing still. Not being able to take the good meds drove me nuts. I missed my Alka Seltzer cold! I really hope that's the only time I get sick this pregnancy...

  22. Peasinapod

    clementine / 770 posts

@IRunForFun: I got a cold three weeks ago and it was brutal. Lasted about a week and a half and I am still stuffed up! I've given up on breathing through my nose ...

Having a 2 year old in daycare I know more is to come...

@Smurfette: My girl pregnancies are such drama!!

@Peasinapod: Right, that's what I thought about it moving! I know it doesn't really matter unless in bad spot, but I just thought someone else would have said it at a previous u/s! This is like my 7th one. Re: something happening while away. It was totally stressful, I think more on my DH and only for me when I didn't know where I was going. Once in they were so good and it just sort of was what it was. I suppose had things turned out for the worst, would have been a totally different story.

@snowjewelz: I have stretches where I am so out of breath it's actually hilarious. I have to do presentations for work too and I am sure I just sound so awful. I have two tomorrow, but still no voice leftover from the weekend so think I need someone to cover me for at least one.

@IRunForFun: I have a gross cold. It's like heartburn and a stuffed nose are the ultimate sleep killer, add in some preggo insomnia, oye!! Trying to stay positive, but through the nights awake it's so hard. My DD, and DH have it too (I am thinking DD brought it home from school), so just waiting for my DS to have it too.

@IRunForFun: I remember having a nasty cold last pregnancy.. NOT fun!!

@sunnyday: People are always asking me if I'm ok b/c I breathe so heavily haha!

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@snowjewelz: I feel out of breathe walking up the stairs to get to LOs room at day care.
@IRunForFun: I think I am getting a cold from LO. Which sucks. I still remember getting sick when pregnant with her and I had a breakdown one morning cause I couldn't take anything that would help.

    @sunnyday: sorry for the scare!
@Peasinapod: every time I travel for work I have to push all of those thoughts out of my brain or I'd drive myself insane! it's so hard to not let those wheels spin a bit though

We transitioned our daughter to her "big girl" room over the weekend, and so far, smooth sailing! we just need to move the rest of her clothes over and hang up her art. Of course, now the nursery is a disaster, but I don't feel as pressed to get that done! it felt good to check something off the list though!

I have literally done nothing at home for this baby. We have three months and I have nothing, no space, nothing. That's starting to bug me a bit, and there is a huge list to do before this kid even gets our attention. We'll get there!

I had a presentation to do yesterday and spoke for an hour straight. I caught myself having to pause and take breaths a little more, and last night I was zonked. I had an appointment yesterday as well, and they must stress me out more than I think because I always seem very zonked at the end of appointment days. I literally got into bed 5 minutes after the kids were down, watched TV and fitbit says I got 9 hours 3 minutes of sleep.

I need to look into a belly support band and/or compression stockings my doc said, the bulging veins down there and down to my knees are horrible. I was 177lbs....lol.....up 29lbs so far! bp was good and I took home the glucose drink and will do that in the next two weeks. I opted to not do it last pregnancy but my doc wanted me to do it this time since I am now 30.

  28. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@madger: That's awesome! I bought all the stuff for DD's big girl room, but we have yet to put it together. Ideally I really want to finish it soon so she can start getting used to it.

@sunnyday: I've done zero things too. All the things we're doing are still mostly for DD1!

  29. madger

    cherry / 178 posts

@snowjewelz: yes, that was our plan! I'm hoping that she will be super used to the new room by the time the baby gets here and doesn't feel "kicked out." plus, I think it will be helpful for her to think about the nursery as the "baby's room" and see things changing in there too.

  30. Peasinapod

    clementine / 770 posts

@snowjewelz: @madger: @sunnyday: I haven't done anything to prepare for the new baby either. We're having another girl though so I feel like I'm mostly covered for new born clothes... And I plan to keep her in my room for at least the first 6 months so no need to prepare a nursery! Hopefully my laid back attitude towards her arrival will not come to bite me in the butt!

  31. madger

    cherry / 178 posts

@Peasinapod: yeah, we are in the same boat! a second girl, she will be in our room for awhile, there might be a few little things we need to replace (and at some point I need to go through clothes because the seasons don't perfectly overlap), but otherwise I was more worried about getting the big kid transition done!

  32. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

I have bought a lot of stuff for the nursery but it all sitting in a pile of baby/office/guest room crap in the room at the moment. The earliest the basement will be done is first week of November, so we can't move the office and guest room stuff till that is done. We decided to keep LO in her room, she already was in a big girl bed, so we just decorated her big girl room. We have to move the glider out still, but waiting till there is room in the nursery. But she is aware that it is getting moved and it is for rocking baby sister. I am such a planner I want to get it done now. But as DH reminds me we moved at 35 weeks with LO and I got her nursery done so I will have plenty of time. I think it is the holiday's are mixed in there, which are busy itself, I just would like it done by Thanksgiving. I need to go through the newborn and 3 months clothes and see what we need still.

I have my glucose test next Firday... Ahhh

I had GD last time and I just feel like I'll have it again. I've never been diagnosed as pre-diabetic or anything, but my blood sugar is always crazy so I just feel like I'll fail again.

I'm gonna go on my GD diet the week of the test, and eat a lot of protein before bed the night before, in case it does anything, lol.

    @snowjewelz: Good luck.

I have a regular appointment on the 11th. Hoping they will let me know about GD test and the TDAP shot as well, since I will be 26 weeks then.

@Smurfette: Well, I had a boost of weight gain this past month after not gaining much... So I want to slow down on the carbs and junk anyway...

Also I have to fast for the # so there's nothing I can do the day of!

  38. Smurfette

@sunnyday: You'll finish everything! I am also super behind this pregnancy. It's getting real...

I did finish DD's new room hoping it would help with the bedtime disaster we're in. It didn't help and I am losing my mind.

  40. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@snowjewelz: I'm nervous about the glucose test. We have a glucose monitor and I've been checking mine here and there just to see, and sometimes an hour after a carb-heavy meal it's high. So I'm a little worried I'll fail. I've also had a big weight gain the past few weeks, although I had no weight gain for the weeks before that, so I'm hoping it evens out.
