Thanks all! Soooo not prepared! Had DH pack a quick bag (good that I had a list at least). Nothing for baby even.. Will get the rest later.

My poor DD1 threw up twice at daycare today... I feel so bad we are not home! She is with grandma. I'm gonna send DH home asap after birth.

Just started on pitocin and I'm asking everyone that comes into the room when I can get epidural hahahaha. OB said lets get more uncomfortable first, hah!

Karis Joy born just before 9pm!

Sadly I only got to hold her for an hour.. Bc I had a fever, they have to keep her in NICU for observation. Hopefully all goes well and I'll see her on Thurs and get discharged together!

Labor for #2 def progressed much faster! I was 3cm admitted, started pitocin, got to 5cm, got epidural, soon after at 8cm and pushed for 20-30 min.

So I'll just be trying to rest up and pump some colostrum for her! I tried to BF her but she was too sleepy

How's everyone hanging in there! I can't believe it's Christmas this weekend

I think I either have to send my husband to work or go to work on Fri bc I have people's Christmas gifts sitting in my car lol!! And they are cookie platters so I don't want to waste them!

@snowjewelz: Congrats!! She is beautilful! I hope she is back in your arms ASAP. Hopefully you both will be home for Christmas. Hope you are feeling better! Now go get her a my 1st Christmas outfit. That would be my first thing to do. ha!

Nothing exciting from my appointment. Lost 3lbs (I think the nurse wrote it down wrong last week), blood pressure was great, measuring right on track, and baby's heart was perfect.

  19. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@snowjewelz: I hope you get downgraded so you can see her today!! Hehe I'd give a cookie platter to the nurses. I'm also with @Smurfette: I'd be having someone buy a "My First Christmas" outfit!

@Smurfette: Glad you had a good appt! Did they check you again for progress?

I had a biophysical profile at the MFM today and the baby passed no problem. Practiced breathing, moved plenty, plenty of fluid. Measuring a bit small but still above the 20th percentile so they said they're not worried. Head is low but not engaged. The main PITA is I switch my blood thinners on Sunday and the kind I have to do doesn't come in pre-filled syringes. I have to draw it up myself so tomorrow I need to go back and get a lesson from the nurse on how to do it. It's a 30 min drive each way. Ah well.

Today's plan includes packing hospital bags. With these two early births it's making me want to get that done!!

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@IRunForFun: Nope. Will check next week at 38 weeks. Then I am going to go ahead and schedule an induction, I think, close to 40 weeks. Hopefully she will come on her own before then, but I have no desire to go to 41 weeks (the latest they would let me go).
Glad that your baby is looking good!

@Smurfette: I actually have DD1's first christmas outfit I can now reuse lol! I think I need to get an ornament! She was 6 lbs 10 oz so actually exactly what they measured! I could tell she was bigger as I was pushing her out too...

@IRunForFun: haha yea now I'm like everyone lets just be ready lol!

  22. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@snowjewelz: @IRunForFun: I packed a bag for the baby but I am waiting to pack mine till after Christmas. But I am doing it on the 26th, along with installing the car seat. I am sure DH will be packing his stuff once I am in labor, like last time.

  23. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@snowjewelz: Wow I feel like it's so rare they estimate a baby's size spot on! Are you feeling better from the bug or whatever illness it was? How's DD1 feeling?

Yeah I went to pack baby's hospital bag and realized we somehow don't have any footed sleepers in newborn size??? Not sure how that happened! Thinking of going to Target to grab something cute but it's bound to be mobbed so close to Christmas. So far in the bag I've got a long-sleeve onesie, a swaddle blanket, a couple hats, scratch mittens, a pacifier, and a fleece blanket to go over the car seat.

For my bag I have a couple pair of yoga pants and a loose button down top; need to dig out th nursing tanks my sister gave me. Then I'm just going to make a list of toiletries and electronics to pack since most I'll be using up till its time to go in.

  24. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@IRunForFun: I got some at Target last Friday. They were buy one and get one 50%. Actually the 3rd one was 50% off as well. I would get some for sure. LO was 8lbs and still wore newborn for a month before she outgrew the length first. You want to pack a nursing pillow. I couldn't nurse without mine the whole time I nursed. You can use pillows in the hospital, but it never felt right to me. You are right though, most of the stuff for my bag too will be last minute stuff, phone charger, camera, toiletries. etc.

  25. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@Smurfette: Oh I am definitely going to get some! Just trying to decide when the best time to hit up Target would be. I hate shopping for non-holiday stuff during the holidays since stores are so crowded.

  26. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@IRunForFun: well if they are still on sale, I would go today! I think after Christmas it can be just as bad.

  27. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@Smurfette: Looks like they still are and I was about to order online because there's free standard shipping for the 23rd, but no newborn stuff on sale online! Wth!

@IRunForFun: I think Carter's has footed sleepers on sale too! http://www.carters.com/carters-baby-girl-doorbusters-1

    @babypugs: They do!

@Smurfette: I ended up going to Target and they had some stuff 30% clearance + 20% off with Cartwheel so I got 3 potential coming home outfits - 2 fleece sleepers plus an adorable knit romper I couldn't pass up! Also grabbed 2 nursing sleep bras and a nursing tank. Just gotta wash them to finish packing the bags.

@babypugs: I got a bunch of the Carters sleepers in bigger sizes back on Black Friday!!

When i dropped LO at daycare yesterday morning, the teacher informed me they had a case of lice in her class. They were bagging up everything in the room and in the cubbies. Not wanting to risk it i had them check her head and gather her stuff and I took her to work with me for the day. Today she's home with my husband and theyre going to finish christmas shopping and wrapping. so we started our christmas vacation a little early.

We had our 37 week appt last night and ultrasound to determine risk for shoulder dislocation during delivery. They said he already is weighing in at 8lbs 8oz.... i find that really hard to believe... at 38 weeks my daughter was 7lbs 12 oz. I had gained about 5 more lbs with her and I was way more uncomfortable. They said I had an intermediate risk of the shoulder causing an issue but at this point we're proceeding with a vaginal delivery.

4 more days and then its Operation: Get This Baby Out!

@Chillybear: oh no! Lice over Christmas would not be fun at all! That does sound really big for not even 38 weeks. I hope they are wrong.

  38. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@Chillybear: ahhhh lice I'd run the opposite way too!!!

I finally got cleared to see DD2 last night thanks to a great nurse who really fought for me! So today I got her to latch for the first time.. Hopefully this will help my milk come in.

Last time around I think my adrenaline carried me through for way longer.. Day 2 pp and I'm officially tired lol. And I got more rest too since I'm mostly alone!

Recovery is going as expected, not much different than last time.

I am getting discharged today but 10000% praying the dr will release her too; technically there is a 48 Hr culture they need (so won't know tonight) but so far the 24 prelim one shows that she is all good.

@snowjewelz: Yeah for being released. Hope she comes home today too.

@Chillybear: Eeeek on the lice! I'd have done the same. FWIW, my nephew's preschool had lice recently and he never got any! Hope you escape it. The last thing you need, right?

@snowjewelz: Yay, so happy you got to see K last night!!! I'm sure you're more tired this time too b/c you're recovering from illness. All my fingers and toes crossed you get discharged together!

I'm waiting at MFM now to learn how to do my injections. Got baby's hospital bag 100% packed and mine is about 50% done. Nursery is still a mess but at least I feel like if the baby comes early we have all the necessities ready. But hopefully the baby stays in at least another 2.5 weeks!

I had a few contractions (not sure they were BH's?) that were crampy last night, like 3 in 15 mins, but then they went back to painless and totally sporadic. A painful contraction woke me out of a dead sleep this morning, I had another 2, then they stopped and I fell back to sleep. Crazy! I'm only 35+4 and baby needs to cook longer!
