July 2013 Due Dates!

@rahlyrah: Oh no!!! How scary!!! I think it's pretty normal - your mind processes your thoughts and feelings while you sleep and all those buried anxieties play out!! I had them on the run up to my wedding (I had a recurring one where I had lost my veil and refused to get married without it) and I'm having them now (I have one where I find out that the baby is already here and DH has been formula feeding her for a couple of weeks because I hadn't noticed she had been born - I haven't even seen her. It usually ends with me hitting him repeatedly and yelling at him for not telling me she was here - and I wake up crying).

@Bookworm: I'm glad you are feeling better. Good luck at your appointment and keep us in the know!

@Pepper: I'm feeling pretty normal thus far. I've been having my normal BH, plus a little cramping, but nothing eventful just yet. I am so anxious for my appointment on Thursday to see if there has been any progression. These last couple weeks of waiting are killing me!

@rahlyrah: Fingers crossed for your appointment!! The waiting is SO hard. I wish I had more stuff to do around the house so these last few weeks would fly by.

Well, I had my first cervical check today! I'm 1cm dilated and 50% effaced! Eeek!!! Baby has also dropped already. Omg y'all... Things are happening! How do I make them happen faster!? Lol!!

@Bookworm: Ahh! This is so exciting! We are all going to be mom's soon. Unbelievable.

Just think...2 months from today, we should all be able to show pictures of our little cuties!

@Bookworm: Say whaaaaaat?!! That's awesome!!! OMG, I'm so excited now!! That's three July ladies doing the dilating thing now!! I'm glad it all went well - and perhaps it explains why you've been feeling so uncomfortable!

@rahlyrah: Every time I see you pop up on this thread I'm convinced you are going to say you're in active labour now!!! I can't believe how close you are to holding your baby in your arms!!!

Eeep!!! We are all getting so close!! I've still got another 7 weeks to go....!!

Hi everyone. I know I'm super late to the game, but I wanted to introduce myself anyway. I've been so busy with work for the entire pregnancy that I haven't had much time to be in the boards unless I needed information about something. I'm finally starting to tie up loose ends at work and will hopefully be able to concentrate on all things baby real soon. I'm due July 17th and will be 35 weeks tomorrow! Baby is super low and in position at our last u/s that we had last week.

My back and pelvis still hurt all the time. How is everyone else's discomforts these days?

    Everyone is getting so close!

I'm almost 37 weeks, and having strange "zing" like cramping - like a combination between period cramps, gas pains, and an electric shock. No real time pattern to them, I'll get a few back to back, and then have a huge space (re: hours) between them. Radiates from my abdomen to my back. Thoughts?

@Cherrybee: @rahlyrah: I know!! OMG! I got Mexican for dinner and ate the spiciest thing I could stand, then walked around Target, and then told DH that he must DTD with me every day. He was very upset And yes, it definitely explains my misery lol! I just hope things keep going! I went out and bought a bunch of hospital bag/postpartum goodies at Target.. nothing like buying Tucks pads and giant maxi pads...

@ourwiredlives: Welcome to the thread!! Glad you joined us I hear ya on the back and pelvis pain, I'm definitely feeling a lot of pressure/pain all the time! Good luck the next couple of weeks!

@Bookworm: Ahhh soo exciting! I'm sure things will continue over the coming weeks! It's awesome to see some progress!

@ourwiredlives: Welcome! My pelvis/hips/inner thighs are giving me the most trouble these days... guessing it's round ligament pain! Yay for baby being low and in position

@deerylou: Hmmm I'm not sure! I get those electric shock pains near my cervix sometimes (yay lightning crotch, lol). Maybe things are continuing to progress for you!

I'm still feeling pretty good, other than being sooo tired after work. I am shocked and amazed that I'll be 37 weeks tomorrow. I literally thought I would never make it to this point earlier in my pregnancy! Hopefully lil dude won't make me wait another month to meet him

@Pepper: My due "week" is July 2-10, lol. My OB initially set me at July 10 when I was ~8 weeks, but said she's more likely to arrive around the 2nd, considering later ultrasounds. I have my final one this Thursday, I believe!

@Pepper: You guys are all going to have your babies tucked away in your arms and I still won't even know if mine is a boy or girl yet!

Things are going well here. I am exactly 5 weeks from my last day of work and I'm so excited-- I'm just feeling done there! Still having off and on sciatic nerve pains but it's not too terrible. I do think I'm having some BH but nothing bad. Baby has gotten pretty comfy and has one spot under my ribs on the right hand side where he or she likes to kick pretty hard. I have to be careful about slouching because if I am, the kick goes right into the rib and hurts!

  14. Ra

    honeydew / 7586 posts

@ourwiredlives: Welcome! I've lucked out in the back/pelvic pain department but was dealing with some serious sciatica for a while there. Luckily, once he dropped, most of my aches & pains went away!

@deerylou: I have been having the same pains! I have no clue what they are though. I keep convincing myself that it is a good sign

@Pepper: Let's keep July 5th. That is my official date. I've been counting down to my unofficial June 27th date but July 5th is the original I'm hoping I go before then though!

  15. Pepper

    pomelo / 5820 posts

@deerylou: Gotcha! Let us know if the ultrasound gives you a new "official" date

@rahlyrah: Fingers crossed! I bet you'll go before the 5th!

@deerylou: I was just noticing yesterday that I get those electric shock like pains and then they go away. I wonder what they are.

@Pepper: I'm Team blue! Thanks for adding me.

@Pepper: Thanks for updating the list!

@rahlyrah: My next appointment is Thursday too. I'm so anxious for an update! I keep trying to remind myself that even though the doctor predicted that I'd deliver next week, they could be wrong and I could still have until July. I've heard so many stories from people who told me they were 3 cm dilated for weeks! So, I'm trying not to be too anxious, but it's hard!

I haven't had any painful contractions yet, just BH. What a strange feeling though.

  18. cranberry

Just got back from my appointment. 4 cm dilated and 80% effaced. The doctor said it could be any day now, or another 2 weeks (she was 4 cm dilated for two weeks when she gave birth to twins). I'm a planner though- I wish there was a way to get a more exact date. Ideally, we want to make it to at least this Sunday since I won't be 37 weeks until then. I might try to pack my hospital bag today though, just in case. For some reason, I've been putting it off.

  19. Foodnerd81

    wonderful cherry / 21504 posts

@cranberry: Yes! Pack your bag! Although that will probably guarantee it will be 2 more weeks I think Monday would be a good day for you-- past 37 weeks but you seem pretty ready to go now. Have a chat with the baby and let them know

  20. Bookish

    GOLD / cantaloupe / 6581 posts

@cranberry: Wow!! Things are moving! I'm with you on being a planner... being 1cm dilated now, and having NO idea when it's gonna happen... being 4 would drive me bananas!! It's like, so close, and yet maybe so far! Aah! Good luck chica, and get that bag packed!!

  21. Foodnerd81

    wonderful cherry / 21504 posts

@Bookworm: @cranberry: This is why my midwives don't do cervical checks until your due date. To avoid this anxiety!

  22. cranberry

    apricot / 305 posts

@Foodnerd81: Good point. I wasn't even thinking that she'd be early, so if they wouldn't have done a cervical check I don't think I'd be feeling anxious yet. My next appointment isn't until the 24th, so no more updates for awhile (unless they're at the hospital!).

  23. Bookish

    GOLD / cantaloupe / 6581 posts

@Foodnerd81: Smart of them!! As much as I'm a information junkie, I think this is one of those times when more information is not necessarily a better thing! Sighhh. Now I'm expecting her to come any day, when it's more likely I've got the full 3-4 more weeks

  24. Pepper

    pomelo / 5820 posts

@cranberry: Definitely not a bad idea to pack that bag!

My next appointment is tomorrow and I have soooo many questions for my doctor. My husband is coming with me this time, which is great because I usually just go by myself during work!

  25. Foodnerd81

    wonderful cherry / 21504 posts

@Bookworm: @cranberry: I'm still 7 weeks out from my due date, but I'm trying SO hard not to get caught up on dates because I know it's so out of my control. So I'm glad my midwives do it that way or I'd drive myself crazy.

  26. Ra

    honeydew / 7586 posts

@cranberry: So exciting! I still think you're going to be our first

@Bookworm: I feel your pain. I wish they could give an exact date/time. All this waiting is driving me nuts. I analyze every cramp, BH contraction, etc.

@Pepper: Can't wait to hear your progress!

I had my appointment this morning. I am progressing, but nearly as fast as I want. Lol. I am so incredibly impatient! I am 2 cm dilated and 85% effaced. My husband has a 24 hour business trip to California on Monday and the doctor gave him the OK to go. She's pretty confident I still have a week or two in me. Bleh.

  27. ourwiredlives

    coffee bean / 26 posts

@cranberry: I've been dying to know if my body is progressing or not but will likely decline the checks to avoid the anxiety. I'm also a planner but have been putting off packing my hospital bag too. Funny how that works, isn't it?

It has been a long while since I have reached out to you ladies it is so nice to catch up and hear how everything is going!!!

@ourwiredlives: Welcome!! It is nice to add to our July group =) Congrats on team blue, I am due 3 days after you!! Starting to hope I go a week or so early

@cranberry: WOW! Good for you please keep us posted on progress, how exciting. I hope you are feeling great, be confident you will do excellent!!!

@Pepper: Thanks for putting all the due dates together. Good luck tomorrow at the dr. I write down my questions whenever I go otherwise I completely forget to ask 2 or 3 of them!!

@rahlyrah: You are progressing too this is so exciting!! Good Luck!!!!!

@Bookworm: What type of goodies did you pack in your hospital bag? I want to pack but comfy cloths that I would want to wear in the hospital are things I am still rocking now...

@deerylou: has your electric shock pain gone away? I know what you're talking about... wondering if you got any answers??

Wishing you all the best!! I am starting to feel HUGE... sitting at work is becoming very very uncomfortable to say the least. Little man is head down and very very low to the point where the ultrasound tech said that she couldn't see my cervix and needed to internally check to make sure we were not progressing! eek. Good luck with upcoming apts as we get closer and closer I will def be here more often!!

    GOLD / cantaloupe / 6581 posts

@SouthPaw: Hey lady! I'm so glad to hear you are doing well!! Sounds like he is getting ready to make an entrance! Or exit.. whichever

So far here is what I have in my hospital bag: light robe, yoga pants, nursing tank, nursing bra, maternity tank, light pajama top, extra flip flops for shower/walking around, toiletry bag: deoderant, ponds cleansing pads, hairbands, bobby pins, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush + paste, concealer, lotion; going home outfits (one each in newborn and 0-3mos), hairbrush, Kindle + charger, camera + charger, and extra phone charger. Oh and a couple loose going-home shirt options. I may decide to wear a dress, but I'm afraid things will be too 'leaky' for that

As for post partum, I bought: tucks pads, Dermoplast, giant overnight pads. I think I'm *edit because apparently my preggo brain cuts myself off* going to wait to see what the hospital gives me to buy much more post-partum doohickeys

@Bookworm: Thanks for sharing your hospital bag list. That may come in handy when I start packing my bag. Some of the stuff that I want to bring I'm still using so I won't be able to pack it yet, but I guess having a list of those things would be useful so I can gather them pretty quickly if necessary.

Has anyone installed their car seat yet? I feel like we should probably get on that soon!

  32. Foodnerd81

    wonderful cherry / 21504 posts

@rahlyrah: Not me. My shower is next weekend, so we will need to space in the car for that. I think we'll do it shortly after that though, because why not? It's just taking up space in the baby's closet now.

  33. Pepper

    pomelo / 5820 posts

@SouthPaw: Welcome back! I always jot them down in my notepad thing on my iPhone. I get so mad when I forget to ask!

@rahlyrah: DH attempted to install the base and seat in his car, but the carrier seems wobbly in the base. We are going to get it checked this weekend!

  34. Bookish

    GOLD / cantaloupe / 6581 posts

@rahlyrah: Not yet! I tested them both out (infant seat in mine, convertible seat in DH's truck) and figured out how to use them, etc. I think we are going to put the base in my car this weekend, and just pop the seat in when we head to the hospital! DH's convertible seat can wait until she starts daycare

  35. SouthPaw

    cherry / 204 posts

@Bookworm: Entrance or exit is welcomed!!! I just wish someone had a remedy to be comfortable =) Sitting cross legged (politically incorrectly stated - indian style) is the most comfortable but it's not always possible at work...

@Pepper: I would forget until I walked out of the room and she was gone... then I started having DH text me questions or just chime in as he does not have baby brain Our car seat is being delivered next week, I assume we'll install the bases immediately. We too have a Britax so I'm interested to see if you figure out the issue you had with yours on the other thread!!

How is everyone sleeping lately??? I cannot sleep it is so frustrating :\

  36. Ra

    honeydew / 7586 posts

@SouthPaw: I was sleeping horribly until he went head down. Then, magically my sciatica disappeared. I still wake up to pee every two hours but at least I am comfortable for the two hour stretches I do get!

Are you uncomfortable or having insomnia?

  37. SouthPaw

    cherry / 204 posts

@rahlyrah: It's a little bit of both!! He is head down so I don't have any sciatica pain thankfully but when I lay on my side my rib cage kills. I have taken over the bed with pillows but I will lay awake and it stinks!! Then you throw in the 2 hr pee breaks lol. I am happy your sciatica disappeared and you're more comfortable =)

  38. Ra

    honeydew / 7586 posts

@SouthPaw: Ah, the rib pain! No fun at all. If I were you, I'd give that baby a stern talking too. No putting his little piggies in mommy's ribs!

  39. deerylou

    pomegranate / 3003 posts

My appointment went great, yesterday. However, my OB said she wanted to wait until week 38 to start checking for dilation and effacement. She said that my recent, "electric shock" pains are probably due to my cervix preparing for dilation.

I had my group B strep test, and my third and final ultrasound. DD is looking great. She had one hand over her cheek, and the other right near her mouth (thumb sucking) which was quite adorable. Heart looks very strong, and everything else is as it should be. She's predicted to be about 7 pounds at birth. I had the doctor confirm the sex, as I'm a paranoid nut. She didn't think it would be possible, considering how squished she is in there, at this point. Lo and behold, DD had her legs wide open. and my OB confirmed, "That's definitely a gal. Beaming with modesty."

Today is my first day of maternity leave, and I'm frantically getting things together, as we're being asked to vacate for construction for three days, next week. Bring on the panic.

  40. Pepper

    pomelo / 5820 posts

@deerylou: Aww so glad the appointment and ultrasound went well! Congrats on being officially on maternity leave, and I hope you aren't too stressed with needing to vacate! How much do you need to pack up?
