I'm stalking this thread for updates on all the contracting mamas! Gosh, the end zone is soooooo confusing and frustrating it seems! Good luck ladies! Pineapple juice smoothies and lots of sex? (cause we all feel so sexy at 9+ months pregnant)

@deerylou: I'm with you. Sometime in the last couple days the fear of labor has completely been overshadowed by the 'GTFO' mentality I just want her out, and I am so freaking tired of being pregnant.
@MrsLilybugg: Hahah! Poor DH, he sort of looks at me like I have two heads when I suggest DTD...he's down for it, but he just doesn't understand why *I* would be. Haha!
I've got another checkup this afternoon, so hopefully there will be more progress... and YAY, just found out the day care we wanted has a spot for G! It's muuch cheaper than the other one we got into, and is extremely convenient for both DH and I! SO excited!

I was away all weekend and wondering if I'd find some full moon babies having been born while I was gone! Hope everyone is feeling better today.
@Bookworm: That's really great news on the daycare. It's nuts around here. I'm 99% sure I'll be a SAHM but casually looked and I actually don't think I could AFFORD to go back to work. There is one OK reasonably priced one that I definitely wouldn't get into until months after my leave is up, and another with no wait list that costs more than my take home pay.
I had my baby shower this weekend and it was so nice! I forgot to take pictures (!) but it was so lovely seeing everyone and celebrating this babe. Plus, I am so appreciative of my friends and family-- I heard probably at least 30 times how I "look so great" and am "all belly"-- I told DH that I haven't gotten so many compliments since my wedding! These people know what a pregnant lady likes to hear. AND, almost everything we got was from our registries. Now, we are back home, getting ready to unpack and getting stuff ready for baby! Taking this afternoon off from work because I just needed a breather.

@Foodnerd81: Glad your shower was a success!! Mine was this weekend too! I'll post a photo of some of the "loot" lol. I was mostly really HOT, because it was outdoors and pregnant ladies are always overheated. Also dealing with the broken toe was overwhelming. But other than that, it was a success!

@MrsLilybugg: Yeah it was at my sister's house, and she has a beautiful backyard, but it was too hot to really be out there. Thank god for a/c! Plus with the pressure of everyone looking at you, I always sweat more. My 2 yo nephew helped take the pressure off by "helping" me open the gifts-- it was like a race to find and read the card before he opened the presents. Certainly kept things moving, but he was disappointed because he thought all presents are 'cars and trucks.'

@Bookworm: Yay for the good daycare news! Hope your appointment goes well today!
@Foodnerd81: @MrsLilybugg: Glad you guys had nice showers! Organizing all of the gifts was time consuming for us, but fun!
I had a non stress test today, and baby looks great! I was having some decreased movement (hence the test), and of course he had to show off once I got there. My doctor did an internal exam, since I'm almost 39 weeks. I'm now 1-2 cm dilated, 60% effaced and baby is at a -1 station, so he has offically dropped! I am only measuring 36 weeks now (I was 38 last week) so he's definitely moved on down. Doctor hopes that I won't make it to my regular appointment on Friday, but I'm not going to get my hopes up just yet.

@Pepper: Ooh exciting! I'm just about 35 weeks and baby is crazy active lately. At least everyone at the shower who wanted to feel him or her got to. But I hear it gets less noticeable the bigger baby gets (no more room to move!)
pomelo / 5820 posts
@Foodnerd81: That's what I'm thinking too. And now that he's engaged in my pelvis, I can't feel him move much other than his bum and feet! I bet everyone loved feeling baby kick at your shower!

@Foodnerd81: awww that's so cute!!! YES having all those eyes on you was also overwhelming!
here's some photos! I got a diaper bag that I've been lusting over, YAY!

@mrslilybugg cute! Love the pretty dress!
It's funny how similarly futile all the symptom spotting is at the end and during the TWW. Dilation, position, how you're feeling, etc, etc, etc... None of it really means anything but we can't help but try to make plans.
I'm 37 weeks and not really feeling in a big hurry for DD to make her appearance. I have a lot to do before she comes and I know things are a lot easier when she's inside!
My only stress about her arrival is that my mom will be in town from July 6 to 24 and then MIL comes the 29. Obviously I want my mom to be in town when she's born and I'm hoping its earlier rather than later so I can be back to almost normal by the time MIL is here. But who knows!
I had DS at 39 weeks and asked my midwife what she thought a safe estimate would be based on that. She said it didn't matter and I could easily go to 42. Ahhh thanks!
wonderful cherry / 21504 posts
@glimmersnaps: I'm 35 weeks tomorrow and definitely in no big rush. Right now, 40 weeks sounds great. My mom is going to come up pretty soon after the baby is born, but MIL will come out a few weeks later. She has flights to book and stuff so it makes sense to make later to make sure babe is here by then.

Well, good news my end! I had my growth scan - baby is estimated at 5lb 5oz at 34+5 weeks, which is slap bang in the middle of perfect. In addition, my blood sugar results are excellent so my OB is potentially happy to let me go past 39 weeks and induce just before 40 if I haven't gone into labour myself by then!! They will review this decision in three weeks (37+5) but providing I can keep this GD control going its looking good! I feel like I've done ny homework and got a really good grade!

@Cherrybee Sounds awesome! Great job
@Foodnerd81 With my first, my parents just bought airplane tickets when I went into labor. I had a lengthy labor and then was in the hospital for 24 hours. I think they came like two days after we got home. The stress is trying to predict/plan for the family visiting is so nerve-wracking!
wonderful cherry / 21504 posts
@Cherrybee: A plus work! That's great news! I'm so happy you got such good news and I know you've worked really hard with the GD stuff. Well done

@Cherrybee: Yay! Great update!! Good work
@glimmersnaps: It is totally stressful trying to plan the family visiting!! My dad calls me every week to try and see when he should schedule his next trip out of Texas (he travels to CA 50% of the year) and every week I have to tell him I have no freakin idea when she's coming! lol! And yeah, it is pretty funny how this last month has mirrored the symptom spotting of TWW!! I swear every time I pee I think my water is going to break... LOL!
@Pepper: Oooh such a good appointment!! I hope you don't make it to your next one!!
My appointment got cancelled b/c my OB had an emergency in L&D. Going in tomorrow morning instead! I did go by the day care to get G's paperwork and man, it has started to really hit me that I'm going to be a MOM!! Wow

@glimmersnaps: maybe try acupuncture right before you want LO to arrive? By friend was getting desperate and did one session ans next day baby came!!!
apricot / 491 posts
@Mrslilybugg Yes I actually go for acupuncture regularly for fibromyalgia and pregnancy-related symptoms. There are labor readiness points they will start after 37 weeks, so I'll be doing those next week. I did them with my son, too. The first week nothing happened but the second week we did them I went into labor that night. Basically they way she describes them is they will give you a nudge if you are on the cusp of labor. We will see how it works this time around!

Just stopping in to say I'm thinking of you all! I haven't had much computer time this week but I love reading about all your progress. You guys are so close! I can't wait to see the next "childbirth in progress" post!
Sorry I've been slacking but you all have been in my thoughts

@rahlyrah: Aww you are so sweet to come check on us! I've been thinking about you guys and sending good juju your way I hope your LO is doing better, and that you aren't going too crazy with the stress!!

@deerylou, @Pepper: how are you feeling?! Baby could arrive anytime !!!!
I have my induction date set for July 2nd at 8am.... I'm hoping to have baby anytime though....todays my due date!!!! I can't believe it....it's here, the date I've been waiting for for 9!loooong months!!! Now baby please come!!!
How is everyone else doing??
GOLD / cantaloupe / 6581 posts
@jh524: Ahh! You have an induction date! That's so awesome!! Happy due date!!
I'm feeling wonky, lots and lots of B-H contractions and crampiness. Hopefully at my appt today the dr. will tell me she'll be here like, tomorrow. Ha? Ha?
pear / 1632 posts
@Bookworm: thanks!! Im praying baby will come but get this....my dr. Goes on a backpacking trip his Friday thru Monday..... What!!?? Nice doc, thanks a million. Ha! I had a check and non stress test yesterday and I'm only fingertip dilated and 50% effaced..not exactly what I wanted to hear. Everything else looked good.,..super swollen feet but that's all.
Hope your appt. goes well today!!!!! how far along are you?
GOLD / cantaloupe / 6581 posts
@jh524: Thanks! It went well! I'm 37w2d and she said if I was any further, she'd go ahead and induce me, but she can't lol! She did strip my membranes though, and told me to go into labor tonight haha!! I tried to bribe her with cookies to get things going, but no dice I'm still 2cm, now 75% effaced, and hopefully things will get moving soon! She knows I've been really sick and uncomfortable, and wants to get LO out before she gets really big (she estimates she's already over 7lbs).

@jh524: Pepper is in labor! I'm still....pregnant. Your induction date is my due date, how cool. Hopefully, you go soon! And hopefully, DD is packing her bags. I'm ready to meet my little turd.
pear / 1632 posts
@Bookworm: sounds like good news! I wonder why my dr. Didn't strip my membranes... Anything change since???
@deerylou: yay for pepper!!! I am also, still pregnant. And yes I'm hoping to go soon.....I'm ready!!!!!
GOLD / cantaloupe / 6581 posts
@deerylou: bahahah I call LO turdbutt all the time....
@jh524: Sorta?? I've had quite a bit of bleeding since, which is apparently normal. @Pepper wrote that she had her membranes stripped, then bleeding, then contractions soo maybe I'll start having contractions soon? I don't particularly want to be induced medically, so hopefully this can get things moving a bit, or at least set me up to go into labor naturally in the next couple of weeks!
pear / 1632 posts
@Bookworm: me either, which makes me wonder why my doctor didn't do it. Do you have to be somewhat dilated to get it done?
GOLD / cantaloupe / 6581 posts
@jh524: Yep, there has to be enough room for your dr. to be able to get their finger in and 'sweep' around in between the amniotic sac and the uterus. So since you said you are only a tad bit dilated, it's probably not something they can do for you yet. Hopefully it becomes an option for you soon!
pear / 1632 posts
@Bookworm: ah, okay. That makes sense. I can't believe I'm not dilated....40 weeks today, you'd think I'd made some progress with all these cramps I have here and there. But I've also read where it doesn't matter in relation to when labor may start so here's to hoping!!!
papaya / 10570 posts
@jh524: Happy due date! I really hope you go into labour soon, I'm thinking of you!
@Bookworm: Woah, membrane stripping sounds brutal! Keeping my fingers crossed for contraction action for you!
I'm so excited for Pepper!! July mama number two!!
apricot / 305 posts
So it turns out I have a little June baby, not July.
When I went to the doctors on Monday I was 5 cm and the doctor said I was having contractions even though I wasn't feeling them. Since I also hadn't been feeling baby move much, she told me to go home and get my stuff and head to the hospital. They induced me when I got there and a few hours later I had my little girl.
papaya / 10570 posts
@cranberry: Wow!!! Many congratulations!! I can't believe you were at 5cm and you hadn't felt the contractions!!!
wonderful cherry / 21504 posts
@cranberry: Whoa! Congratulations! Hope you are enjoying your little girl!
Even though I know I want this baby to stay in for at least 4 more weeks, you ladies starting to have your babies is making me more impatient!
papaya / 10570 posts
@Foodnerd81: That's how I feel, too!!! I'm so ready now but my little girl isn't quite ready yet so I know I need to hold my horses!! 35 weeks is such a strange place - we are so near the end but on the other hand the end feels so, so far away!!!! 5 weeks - agh!
wonderful cherry / 21504 posts
@Cherrybee: Monday was really the first day I though, you know, this pregnancy thing has been fun, and I still have lots of work to do both finishing up at work, and at home, but man am I ready to meet this kid... and not be pregnant. Only sometimes, but I finally understand when women say they are so done. Due date is July 30, but July 24 would be a nice birthday-- and it's my dad's bday so he'd love it.
cherry / 204 posts
@cranberry: WOW! congratulations that is so exciting and awesome =)
@Foodnerd81: & @Cherrybee: I am right there with you @ impatient!!
We had a checkup today and the Dr. told me 90% effaced... not dilated at all but makes me think I will not be making it to 7/20...
Has anyone seen any updates/pics from Pepper?? Sooooo excited for her =) I know some of you are right around the corner too!!
GOLD / cantaloupe / 6581 posts
@Cherrybee: @Foodnerd81: I'm so crazy impatient, especially after my membranes were stripped yesterday. I totally had myself convinced that I was going to go into labor last night! Noooope. I've been taking frequent walks around work in hopes of getting things moving... It's 100 degrees here, and I'm DONE!
@SouthPaw: Woo, progress! That's great!
