@thismustbetheplace: thanks! we decided on a convertible crib too. I like the idea of being able to use it for years to come.
@hlk208: such a cute hat!! we are waiting till 24wks to start buying anything but I've got wish lists everywhere and so excited for little girl clothes!!
grapefruit / 4311 posts
@thismustbetheplace: sweet! I'm ready to get our crib! I like the daybed part, the one we are getting stops at toddler bed.
@littleredhairedgrl: whenever I look at baby clothes, I'm a little more thankful are having a boy, since I'm so picky about boy clothes I don't want as many things. There are just too many cute options for girls - I'd have no money left!!!

@HLK208: That hat is freakin' adorable!
I haven't really bought much - we got a couple of baby clothes from baby GAP as they were having a sale but we know we'll be getting a lot of clothes from our open house/couple shower and hand me downs. I love newsboy caps- can't wait to get one!
Right now I've been looking at classes to register for at the hospital, day care options (ugh), and building the registry.
22 weeks! 17 weeks to go - but hey, who's counting
Baby W is getting bigger so much so that I feel him a lot now. DH can feel some movement but the little booger tends to get quiet when DH puts his hand on my tummy. When he does feel movement he gets so excited. I love it!

Hi everybody! Had my 20 week scan last Thursday and the news is.... BOY! We are really excited, and funny thing, I had a dream the night before my ultrasound that it would be a boy, so weird but cool.
A few other things from my appt: I have an anterior placenta which is attributing to the whole not feeling movement thing. Also, I have a low-lying placenta which means at this point I could not deliver vaginally, but I get another ultrasound at 28 weeks to see if it's moved. And finally I have a small uterine fibroid which is nothing to worry about now but something my OB wants to watch. Anyone else have any experience with any of these things? My OB told me NOT to Google them or worry about them but obviously it's in the back of my mind.
Love reading everyone's updates and we've already started buying clothing and books, although no major furniture yet except a Rock and Play to use for sleeping those first few months.

@princessandthebee: Congrats on the boy!
-I have an anterior placenta as well (lucky us!) which just meant waiting a little bit to feel those precious kicks. I actually started truly feeling them right around the time I could see them from the outside, so that was pretty neat.
-I have a very good friend with a partial placenta previa (which it sounds like you're describing with the 'low lying placenta'). There is no danger to the developing baby but it put her at risk for not being able to deliver at her birth center. At her 28 week scan it had hardly budged at all, which was pretty disappointing. She was rescanned at.. 36 weeks? I think? and it had moved so far that it was 100% not a problem! So if a vaginal birth is in your plan.. don't give up hope! I think something like 90%+ will resolve before delivery.

@princessandthebee: yay how exciting! another for the boy club!
I have a 2cm fibroid. I haven't googled it much bc my docs utterly unconcerned with it. They just measure it at each ultrasound.
kiwi / 714 posts
@princessandthebee: congrats on your boy!! I'm in the anterior placenta club. So far it's meant I haven't felt anything, save for Friday when I was pressing down on my stomach after an appointment- during the appointment my doctor was trying to show me where the baby was/how far my uterus has stretched, and i was embarrassed that I couldn't feel what he was pointing out. So at home, I was trying, and she kicked back at the pressure from my hand! It was very cool.
Otherwise though no movement, but they said don't worry, so I'm not.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that the placenta eventually moves, but again if the doctors said it's not a concern, try to keep that in mind!

Had our 20 week ultrasound today, it's a girl! Glad we can reuse all of LO's clothes again!

Thanks everybody!
@thismustbetheplace: Yes, vaginal birth would be ideal so I'm really hoping I move! She said I need to be 3 cm away and I'm at 2.2. I get another ultrasound at 28 weeks but your friend's story gives me hope!
@runnerd: I think that's how big mine is! I also just talked to my Grandma, apparently she had about 22 fibroids by the time she was in her 40's and after having three kids, so I'm sure it's not a big deal for most people.
@lauraeabel: That's so cool! I can't wait for more movement, mine is so vague and I can be sure what it is exactly.

UPDATE: We had our 20 week scan on Monday - and you can add us to team blue because we're having a BOY!
Congrats to everyone for the good news so far!
Other info from the scan - baby weighs 400g, and has very long legs apparently. Placenta is at the back and in a good position so that's good, but I still don't feel any movement. There was plenty happening at the scan though and baby is perfectly healthy so I guess that's all fine.
Now we can start buying stuff, but I have NO idea where to begin. I picked out a pram and it's on layaway so that's a start I guess. I just need, you know... everything else.

@MrsEmm: congrats and welcome to team boy! I am the same - itching to but stuff but hardly know where to start

@thismustbetheplace: yea I will!
So I think I'll start a nursery thread soon for us to share ideas/progress. We haven't got much done yet, but still be fun to have brainstorming thread

does anyone else feel like July will never get here? or is time flying for you guys?
kiwi / 714 posts
@runnerd: it's a weird combination of the two. On the one hand,
I can not believe I'm already 22 weeks- I feel like I just found out last week! On the other, all the research and decisions and buying furniture etc has me feeling like things are taking foreverrrrrr. You spend all this time thinking about how you want to do things and researching what's best, only to sit on your thumbs and wait until the baby gets here to see what you'll Actually do.
Hopefully that makes SOME sense.
grapefruit / 4311 posts
@lauraeabel: haha yea it makes sense! Even though I'm amazed that I'm 22 weeks now, I feel like I've been pregnant a year sometimes.
persimmon / 1135 posts
@runnerd: omg time is going by so slow! but that's prob mostly bc of the bed rest and not being able to do anything.
grapefruit / 4311 posts
@littleredhairedgrl: oh i can only imagine how it's creepin' for you. i'm not on bed rest, but limited activity/no exerting myself.. so I think that's why it's going slowly for me too.
have you been on leave from your job for the bed rest? i know you were planning to be SAHM so wasn't sure how that was all working for you.
cantaloupe / 6059 posts
@runnerd: It's creeping along now in the second trimester but that happened when I was pregnant with C so not surprised! I can fairly well promise all of you that the last ten weeks will FLY by! Weeks 30-delivery are such a final countdown. At that point the nesting urge had set in and all I wanted to do was stock our freezer full of meals and be prepared and it made time go by so much quicker.
But yeah...right now I'm all, "wait, I'm only 24 weeks?!? How is that even possible? I should be at least 26 or 27 by now, right?!" *sob*
persimmon / 1135 posts
@runnerd: I am on paid leave with my company until around August (I get 26 weeks paid) and then will tell them I'm not returning. felt a little guilty about that at first, but neither of my bosses or anyone at my company has contacted me since I went on leave so I don't feel as bad now.. hope you are doing well. as runners I'm sure we both had no idea our pregnancies would leave us so limited physically, but it'll be worth it in the end and I am def registering for a Bob running stroller now!
@coopsmama: this week I'll be 23 weeks and I thought the same thing - I should def be 27 weeks by now lol. soon enough!
pineapple / 12234 posts
@coopsmama: oh yeah, a week will pass and I'll be like, "so? 25 weeks?" Nope...22. I'm trying my hardest not to get anxious because now I know between 30-40 weeks is the LONGEST 10 weeks of my life (well, every time I'm pregnant at least).
Has anyone bought any big purchases for baby? We really don't need much since this is our third but there are a few items I got rid of. We still need a swing, a rock n' play, a play mat (maybe?), a soft structure carrier (probably the Beco Gemini) and a glider.
I'm planning on buying one item every few weeks.
persimmon / 1135 posts
@HLK208: we bought an uppa stroller on Black Friday bc we got an awesome deal, but since then have been waiting till we get to at least 28 weeks before buying anything else.
pineapple / 12234 posts
@littleredhairedgrl: I bought one (not an UBV but a britax b-ready) around the same time. I didn't want to jinx anything by buying a new double since I was only 4-5 weeks at the time but it was a REALLY good deal!

For me, I want time to slow down! We still don't have a house and I want time to get a nursery and home put together before I'm huge and hot this summer!
We just put an offer in though and we're still waiting to hear back! 3rd house we've liked, second offer. Starting to get frustrated!
As for big purchases, we've bought a video monitor (Summer brand) and a Rock and Play for the first few months. Oh and I'm up to six cloth diapers but need to buy a few more this month and every month until July!
grapefruit / 4311 posts
@littleredhairedgrl: oh yes the no running is killing me! i've been stalking nov/dec races to register for!
@HLK208: our in-laws are buying our nursery furniture as a gift in the next month or two. otherwise, I'm holding out until after my first shower in mid-May to start buying any big ticket items in case any of family decides to chip in on them mostly just been buying decor for nursery.
@princessandthebee: fingers crossed for you that this is the one for your house!! it sucks to get your heart set on one then it fall through!
kiwi / 714 posts
@HLK208: sooooo somehow, all of our major purchases are complete.
We got a pack and play and stroller/car seat for Christmas. Last week, we used the target nursery promo combined with a 10% and 5% discount/free shipping through MILs redcard to get our crib/changing table combo and video monitor. Ending up saving 225 dollars!
We also went to a retail auction in our area and got a glider/ottoman, Eddie Bauer wooden high chair , and a little musical bouncy infant seat all for 155 dollars. All of it was brand new with paperwork, so we are so so excited we got so lucky!
Now we need to focus on decorating =)
Eta: I'm thinking of registering for a jogging stroller for an easier ride during running/long walks. Anyone have suggestions for ones to look at that aren't crazy expensive?
cantaloupe / 6059 posts
@HLK208: Yes, we have some big purchases to make. We need to buy another crib and crib mattress (even though DD will likely be co-sleeping with us in a co-sleeper for several months) since DS will only be 12 months when DD arrives and will still need his crib. We need to buy a good double stroller but I am so overwhelmed with that purchase I don't even know where to start. I had a Moby with DS and absolutely hated it so am looking into possibly getting a Tula or Ergo but am going to attend a babywearing class first to get an idea of what might work best for us. Oh, and we cloth diaper so I also need to get a second set of diapers to up our stash. We've talked about a new swing, too, since ours was a hand me down with DS and is old but it served us just fine with DS so that's probably at the bottom of the list.
I'm getting overwhelmed just thinking about all there is to get!

We just purchased our crib (Babyletto Hudson), crib mattress, and glider during the Target sale. Got the BOB a while back during a great Amazon sale. Borrowing a bassinet, swing and a few smaller things, which is nice. Might be borrowing an infant car seat, but I need to do some research re recalls, expiration date, and whether they have an extra base, etc so we may end up buying one/registering for one anyways (and they are super close friends who have not been in an accident so I'd feel comfortable borrowing from them). Also debating whether to get another stroller since all we have right now is the BOB. Kind of leaning toward the UB Cruz, but need to do some more research on that too!
I feel like time is dragging (*only* 24 weeks?!), but at the same time that there is SO much to do before baby gets here! Still need to paint the nursery, take birthing/breastfeeding classes, etc. Eek!
persimmon / 1135 posts
@lauraeabel: I know they are a bit pricey, but I've heard great things about the Bob running strollers and am going to register for one.
nectarine / 2134 posts
@lauraeabel: We got the Bob because we heard such great things about it. We got it pretty early on because we found a great sale (from the Bees) on Amazon --- $260 for a new Bob. You may want to keep your eyes out for sales, get one on Craigslist or register for one.

@LemonLong: Congrats! I'm also so excited to have another girl
@lauraeabel: Bob Revolution, all the way!
blogger / persimmon / 1225 posts
@runnerd: We didn't get the house! We're back to square one. It's such a bummer but I'm trying to stay positive and count my blessings.
@lauraeabel: @NorCalWayfarer: We're getting a Target crib as well, just haven't picked one out yet!
We've also decided on the Britax B stroller after reading a blogger friend's review of it and feeling how light it is.
Speaking of classes, when is everyone signing up for those? I feel like it's something to do soon!
kiwi / 714 posts
@princessandthebee: our OB said they would call to schedule in April for classes May. Not sure if that's the norm though.
kiwi / 633 posts
@princessandthebee: We are signed up for classes at the hospital starting April 30th and going for 5 weeks. Ours fills up fast so we registered early.
The coolest thing happened this morning... I think I felt the little guy's actual foot!! He was being super active after my alarm went off, and I was just laying on my side feeling him move. He kicked in the same spot a couple times, so I pressed my hand into that spot right as he happened to do it again. I SWEAR I felt the imprint of a tiny foot on my fingers. It was so cool!!! THERE'S A REAL HUMAN IN THERE!!
pineapple / 12234 posts
@princessandthebee: I didn't take mine until 35 weeks (we just did a full day class on a weekend) and toured the hospital at 37 weeks
